Mara was raised in an affluent lifestyle and fell in love with Reid when she was a teenager. She would do anything for him and that included walking away with no notice or future contact even if it broke both their hearts in the process.
More than a decade later Reid is a successful businessman when fate brings Mara back into his life. He is a private man who doesn’t give interviews, but he breaks his rule and agrees to give one to Mara. When they find themselves spending time together will he be able to uncover the truth about what went wrong, or will she be able to protect her secrets?
Reid is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy and I enjoyed the evolution of Mara’s character as they fight for the future they both deserve.

Reid Mancini hasn't stopped thinking about his former high school sweetheart, Mara Neely, since the day she left town without explanation over a decade ago. Mara, now a TV reporter, recently moved back to Rhode Island for a job with one of the news stations in Providence. Her family is going through a tough time and she wants to be there to support her mother and younger twin brothers. Reid is now a billionaire tech mogul after creating the world's largest social media network, and when he learns that Mara's back in town, he's determined to finally get answers on why she ghosted him all those years ago. He decides to make her an offer she can't refuse; the notoriously media-shy Reid will give her station an exclusive interview, as long as Mara is the reporter assigned to the story. Forced to spend a week with her ex-boyfriend preparing for the interview, Mara quickly realizes that her old feelings are still very much alive, but she left Reid for a reason, and that hasn't changed. Can Reid break down Mara's walls and convince her to give their love a second chance?
Compared to the previous books in this series, "The Grumpy Billionaire" was rather angsty, but the level of emotion made sense to me given Mara and Reid's complicated history as well as the family issues Mara was facing in the present. The problem was that their history made them very uncomfortable around each other at first, and as a result, it seemed like it took longer than it should have for the chemistry between them to spark. I love a good slow burn, but that wasn't the vibe I got here; it was as if Reid genuinely disliked Mara, not as if he was attracted to her. When the chemistry finally did spark, things went fast (almost too fast IMO) and nearly all of the narration from that point on was from Mara's POV. It would have been helpful to get Reid's perspective on what was happening around that time, especially on why he decided that his grand gesture near the end was a good idea (when it so clearly was not).
Overall, while I liked Mara and Reid and would still recommend this story for fans of second chance and/or the enemies-to-lovers tropes, it unfortunately was not my favorite book of the series so far. I'll still be picking up the next one, however!

Reid is such a beautiful man. He could have been horrible towards Mara after so much time had passed since she left him without a word. But instead he was still everything wonderful she remembered about him and more.
I enjoyed reading Mara as well, but there were plenty of times I just wanted to shake her and tell her to be her own person. She did get there eventually but boy it was hard to read at times.
This book certainly drew me in right from the start, and I very much appreciate Tru’s writing style - I felt like I was right there with the characters from beginning to end. Not a surprise, but I would definitely love to read more books from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

I am always down for a visit to Eastport Bay, and this time Tru Taylor takes us on a second-chance romance between Reid and Mara.
Reid and Mara were once so in love, but class and social standing got in the way. Mara was from the upper-class crowd of Eastport Bay. Her father was an up-and-coming politician who did not like his daughter getting close with the housekeeper's son.
Their whirlwind young love was suddenly cut short by Mara's departure; she did not even say goodbye to Reid.
Years later, Reid is now a reclusive billionaire whose social platform has surpassed every other in popularity. Media outlets are clamoring for an interview, but he refuses to grant one, except for Mara. She is now a rising journalist who is trying to pave her way through life without any help from her family. Given no choice by her boss, she must now face the man she left. Will she be able to get through this without letting him discover the secrets she's kept from him and without falling for him all over again?
This was a more angsty read compared to Tru Taylor's previous books in the series. The emotionally loaded history between Reid and Mara brings out all of the feels. Their relationship is a very tangled web, but I really liked how Tru Taylor lets us peel the layers on a complicated love as we go through the story. Reid is a great MMC. Even though he is also this universe's Grumpy, he is kind and loyal.
Even though I would consider the spice level to be somewhere between mild and medium, Reid and Mara's chemistry and re-connection are the foundation of this book and makes the read worth it.
This book is a standalone, but folks who are not new to the series get wonderful cameos and Easter eggs from past books.

OMG I loved this book so much. Tru Taylor wrote a story of true love, dysfunctional family dynamics, and lots of emotions. I loved the story of the couple finally reuniting, after a long absence.
Reid is a billionaire tech specialist, and has developed an app called Stillyours.com, for reuniting couples with each other. He has lost the love of his life, and is hoping to find her. Mara and Reid were a couple while young, but she is from a wealthy family, and Reid’s mom works for the rich family. After falling in love, Mara’s father sets down an ultimatum, and splits the couple.
Mara is the daughter of a wealthy family, but after her father’s ultimatum, she leaves to go to college in another state, and finds work as far away as she can. Her job is a reporter for a local paper. She is selected to do an interview with the billionaire Reid, but she resists, but actually has no choice.
Forced to face each other, during the interviews, feelings begin to resurface between Reid and Mara. Reid is doing his best to romanticize Mara, and succeeds. Love advice from Mara’s mother, affects their relationship, and they split.
A family emergency opens Mara’s eye to true love, and a reunion between Reid and Mara, results in finally finding their HEA.
I’ve enjoyed every book written by Tru Taylor, in the Eastport series, but this was so worth 5 stars, and more.

This book was entertaining but I didn’t love it. I honestly was more interested in the twin brothers and their antics and life on the ranch than I was in Mara. Did she not want to get back together with Reid because of her dad’s threats or because her mother’s warnings that loving a man gave them too much power over her. I couldn’t tell if her reluctancy to get back together was because she loved him too much and wanted to protect him or loved him too much and was afraid of him because of it. I suppose it could be both but the way it was written just created inconsistency issues for me.
I also think her dad was just straight up abusive and far too manipulating to really be redeemable. When she met up with him after a decade of silence, he hadn’t learned anything. He still threatened and berated Reid and tried to control her life. I know health scares can change a person, but, in this case, seemed too far a leap.
Reid deserved better. He got a terrible reputation because he was nursing a broken heart for a decade because the people he trusted treated him so poorly. Mara bailed without an explanation (even when he reached out years later) so he couldn’t move on and felt he was insignificant and had to prove himself. I get not being able to do better at 18, but could’ve done better in your mid-20s when he found you again. His own mother said he shouldn’t give Mara another thought because they were from different worlds which reinforced his belief he wasn’t good enough. Someone give this man a hug and tell him he’s worthy just as he is. Damn.

Oh my goodness, where to start. Reid and Mara had what you would have thought was the perfect teenager love affair but all to soon their bubble burst, and unbeknownst to him, she makes the ultimate sacrifice, to protect him.
11 years later and fate puts them in a direct collision course. Reid never got over his one and only true love and when he sees Mara again he goes out of his way to get her back. Reid was amazing, he wore his heart on his sleeve and he adored her. And I loved him as a character.
Mara on the other hand, although strong and determined, still allowed others to dictate her adult life which very nearly costs her the love of her life again. She was a bit of a tough character to fully accept, I understood her sacrifice when she was a teenager but not what she was willing to forgo for others, over her own needs and Reid was her need, her other half.

This is the 7th book in this series, and this is Reid and Mara’s story. Reid is a cocky, grumpy billionaire, who owns one of the worlds largest media networks, and for his first ever TV interview, he only wants Mara to do it, and they need to spend a week together to do this. Mara left Reid without a word 11-years-ago, and now to have to interview Reid, will the secrets why she left stay hidden. This is a well written enemies / lovers romance, with 2nd chances, family, secrets, intrigue, and love, which leads to a heartfelt and steamy page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

The first disappointment in the series
Really? 90% finished with the book and I was still wondering how this woman was so successful being so stupid. Who takes advice from a person who clearly is not capable of giving sound advice. Mara could be the least likeable of the female leads in Tru's Eastport Bay series. Does she not have a mind of her own. How did she get through Stamford FGS? Poor Reid imagine being so in love with someone who won't fight for the relationship they truly want. So many great books in this series. Reid was such a great guy and I wanted better for him. This girl needs the therapist her mother went to - maybe that will help her get her head on straight.

I was so looking forward to reading this book and I was nowhere near disappointed! Reid’s mother works for Mara’s family. Reid is a stand up guy for a high school boy.
Mara’s father was wretched!! He refuses to “allow” Mara and Reid’s relationship to continue. He actually threatens Reid. To keep Reid safe Mara disappears. Reid does everything he can to find out why Mara just left without a trace.
Fast forward eleven years and they come face to face again. Reid pretends not to be affected by Mara’s presence, but he is. Mara tries to act as normal as possible. A turn of events will put them working together. Will they be able to forget about their past love for each other?

Reid Gets His HEA! 4.5⭐️
So happy that Reid finally gets his happily ever after in this second chance, fairy tale retelling of Sleeping Beauty!
This one was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions and a little bit heavier than some of the other stories in this series. Reid and Mara’s young love is timeless and the heartbreak that follows is equally devastating.
‘She was branding me with an imprint so deep it could never be erased.’
Their chemistry is electric and the pull between them is undeniable. I love that despite the time and distance between them, their connection on the most basic level never wavered.
Can’t wait for the next one!

Oh my gosh, I absolutely adore The Eastport Bay Billionaires series! Tru Taylor has done an awesome job with creating characters and stories that will stick with you and make you smile long after reading them. Can I just say how much I freaking adore Reid Mancini? I have to admit that Mara was not always my favorite, but all in all, the book was fun to read with lots of heartwarming and steamy moments. I recommend you checking it out ASAP. I give it 4 outt a 5 stars!

I've been looking forward to who the billionaires called The Grumpy, Reid’s story. And I think it's a great addition to the series. It's a sweet storyline. I loved that Reid is not vindictive toward Mara. At first, when he told her his plan, it almost felt like he was trying to remind her how good it was between them. All he wants from her is to know her reason for leaving him.
Can't lie, Mara sometimes frustrated me at times. Just because she's so stubborn sometimes. And all she does is run away from him. But I guess it's because she still loves him and she's trying to avoid going there again after what her dad put her through. Still, I enjoyed their story.
Can't lie, Mara sometimes frustrated me at times. Just because she's so stubborn sometimes. And all she does is run away from him. But I guess it's because she still loves him and she's trying to avoid going there again after what her dad put her through. Still, I enjoyed their story.

This book was nice, but I kind of expected a bit more. I didn't really understand the FMC's mother's views/opinions/thoughts. I also didn't understand how the core reason of the fallout was handled or went poof into the air towards the end without much detail. I was also very confused about that photo frame in his office as to why it was even there in the first place and as much as I love a good pining and searching for lost love, I wasn't happy with his stalker-ish behaviour.

This is a first for me by this authoer and it wont be the last. I really enjoyed Mara and Reid's story. It was your classic second chance love story with some twists and turns. I loved both these characters so much. I also enjoyed Reid's friends. Reid and Mara's chemistry is unbeatable!! Great read!!

This book has a brilliant story about second chance, Mars is in love with Reid but her father was not happy with their relationship & threatened to have Reid put in jail because of who his father was, so she left him with no explanation. Eleven years later she's back home & Reid said him would do an interview on TV but only with her!

Finally published!
Regis finally gets his happily ever after! After being the grumpy one for the last several books it's nice to finally find out what happened between him and Mara so many years ago. Another winner from Tru Taylor. Can be a stand alone but SO much better if you start with book 1.

Romance main characters always seem to underestimate the magic that can happen in a week. I am not a huge fan of second chance romance in general, but this is a set-up I can really enjoy. There is so much that has happened since they were teenagers and they have grown into full adults. They are so much stronger as individuals and partners with the time and space.

I like them as a couple, but it was the miscommunication/have the conversation trope that just drugged out forever. And then, after the big secret was revealed, the FMC suddenly had a new and incredibly strong reason for them not to be together. So it was a bit of a laborious read. Not what happened in Princess Bride.

I enjoyed Mara and Reid's story. These two loved each other but Mara walked away from him..now he has the chance to get her where he wants her..she wants to keep her secrets while he wants the truth..Will she be able to walk away or will he get his way?

Adorable
Love how it follows Reid and Mara to a happily ever after. Reid is tryint to find his long lost love. Mara is still trying to run from her past. The feeling are real and characters are well developed. So glad it all works out.

Reid's character intrigued me in the seven billionaires since the very first book. The story of why Mara truly left was long awaited, especially since he seemed like such a stand-up guy. Glad to read their resolution and happy ending
