Megan's Mate

Calhoun sister-in-law Megan O'Riley and her young son are moving to the seaside family estate, the Towers, to begin a fresh chapter in their lives. But it seems her practicality could be swept away by the rugged seaman.

Best Laid Plans Engineer Abra Wilson had met men like Cody Johnson before—charmers who could smile their way out of any situation. The overconfident East Coast architect may be clever and distracting, but Abra's too smart to fall for his tricks. Fortunately, Cody isn't playing games anymore and has plans that not even Abra will be able to resist!

This is a combination book of two previous stories that were being republished, maybe so more readers could enjoy them and also to bring in more money by selling it as a new publication.

That being said, the first novel in the book started out with way too many characters to keep track of. It's like there should have been or maybe was another book that came first talking about the Calhouns, but was not included. Keeping track of all the people in the story drove me nuts at the beginning. From there, the story became much more enjoyable, especially with the mysterious, old accounting book that was discovered.

The second story began with the two main characters clashing due to their occupations, engineer vs. architect and personalities. I have to say that Cody, the architect, was an obnoxious character at the beginning who had no idea of how to approach a professional woman, Abra. The two of them were immediately physically attracted to each other, which I found a little hard to believe. It took more than half way through the story to really pull me in. Excellent ending, though.

A repeat that I personally enjoy is when one of the pair has a child or children who also fall in love, it’s sweet.
