I’ve spent all afternoon reading this! 😂 I LOVE Stacey so much, I read her first book earlier this year and it was great so as soon as I spotted this one in @waterstones I had to read it!
The first tap to tidy was very much about organising, craft projects and recipes. However this one is more about home renovations, DIY and home styling.
Pickle Cottage (for those that don’t know) is Stacey’s home and the book goes through different rooms that she’s renovated herself and explains step by step how these beautiful rooms were made. You can see the finished rooms on her Instagram.
I’m not looking at doing any major DIY (I’m hoping I won’t have to with it being a new build 😂). However I think it’s a great guide for first time DIYers, simple things like putting up a shelf, what paints to use and screws to use… I’ve not a clue so to have a handy book to explain these things I think is great!
What I really love about this book is that it feels like a very personal account of her journey, it’s like a friend giving you advice which I love.
I also love that it’s quite empowering for women, I feel like DIY is quite daunting for everyone but I think especially for women we don’t see women doing DIY and giving tips very often so it can sometimes feel like an impossible task. Stacey is showing that we can do it too, so let’s get a drill and make the dream home we’ve always wanted! ❤️
I don't know what Tap to Tidy is as I didn't read the first book. I also feel the 'Crafting and Creating a Home' was a bit misleading.
I was expecting more crafting etc.
This is a book about how Stacey Solomon renovated her new house 'Pickle Cottage'.
Which if you are interested in that sort of thing, is quite interesting.
It also comes from a place of incredible privilege but Stacey does acknowledge that. As you read the book you can really hear Stacey's Voice through the turn of phrase.
The last 30 pages are a list of suppliers and space to plan your own renovation work.
Library book and I wouldn't purchase this personally. BUT if you are a big Stacey Solomon fan and follow her on insta, and like home reno's, I can see this might make a nice Christmas gift.
Only thing I didn't like about this was the size of the font on most pages. The first book was much easier on the eyes. Other than that, learnt some stuff and it's very pretty. Signed copy too!
A great book. Slightly different from her last but I found this one a lot more informative and helpful. Truly helped me understand some aspects of DIY and how to do some of the things that not everyone is taught, no matter how simple it may seem!
