Vox Tenor #2

Loving Aria

Rate this book

My heart only beats for my three men, but a New Year’s Eve countdown may stop it cold.

Even though we’re traumatized and exhausted, I’m thankful for this pocket of time to recover and plan what’s next. My love for Mateo, Einar, and Nikola grows stronger every day as we hide from not one, but two opposing forces.

December should be a time of celebration, but instead we’re terrified, trying to figure a way out of this nightmare. The devoted and protective men of Vox Tenor are still determined to save me.

Despite feeling raw and fragile, my men turn their comfort into pleasure and I can’t help but give in. I’ll take those passionate moments with me to the grave. Because I know, as the final hour of the year approaches and impossible decisions loom, all my choices will lead to the same chilling fate.

I knew this couldn’t last and I need to save my men from the danger that’s chasing me. My past as Embry won’t allow my present as Aria to survive much longer.

How can I allow Mateo, Einar, and Nikola to pay the ultimate price for loving Aria?

*BOOK REVIEW*
BOOK: Loving Aria
AUTHOR: Leelah Renn
PLOT: Things are really heating up in this sequel to Becoming Aria. Aria and her men have narrowly escaped an attack from Voudon and the Navy SEALs with their lives. Roz has been tortured and is a total mess. Roz hates Aria for all of the things that are happening. The five of them escape to Matteo's house in Spain and figure out what to do next. The men are determined to keep Aria safe and protect her even if it costs them their lives. Roz is convinced that they need to turn her in to the authorities and is regretting ever meeting Aria. They're doing everything they can to remain under the radar, but they know it's temporary and that they need to face all of this head-on. Aria wants to leave the men of Vox Tenor to keep them from dying for her, but the guys are going to do whatever it takes to keep her with them. They've already made up their mind that they'll gladly die for her if need be. The Navy is after Aria, but for what? Will they be able to survive this and figure out the real reason why the Navy is after Aria together, or will Aria leave the men and turn herself in even if it means dying? Will the love they share be enough to keep them alive, or will their love crumble under the pressure? This book was a great sequel and things just keep getting exciting as the series progresses. I can't wait to read the grand finale of this trilogy. I have GOT to know what happens next and I NEED to know how it all ends! Well done Leelah! You've created an exciting series that has captivated me from the start!!!!! ❤

The way this author develops the characters arcs completely immerses you in each of their viewpoints. Aria has had a lot of crap thrown at her all at once, yet she handles it with courage and grace. The men of Vox Tenor are tenacious in their efforts to protect her, even though they don't really have the physical means to take on the enemy. And poor Roz. Your heart absolutely weeps for her and what she went through. There is a sensual sweetness to the steamy scenes with a realistic touch, especially with Einar's scene. We learn quite a bit about Mateo's past in this installment, and that insight helps us understand his need to stay peaceful and calm. Nik's gruffness is still not quite accounted for, but I expect we'll get more of his story in the final book. I think I know exactly where that cliffie left us, and I am excited to see if I'm right in book three. This is a well written story with tons of heart and heat, so give this series a read!

I really enjoyed this book. This is the next installment of Vox Tenor. Aria and the guys are on the run from Voudon. They make their escape to Matty’s place in the mountains. They are all trying to recovery from what happened to the compound. Roz is the worst off. She had to do something really bad when they were at the compound. Aria, Matty, Nik and Eeny all try to help her. Aria and everyone tried to move on as best they can. But they all know it’s a matter of time before Voudon catches up with them. Aria and the guys all learn to love each other. Now the time has come to an end. Voudon has come for them. He wants a trade. Will they go along with it or will they all die trying to save everyone? Read the book to find out what happens to Aria and her men. Ends on a cliffhanger so be prepared for that. There’s a surprise at the end of the book and I think I know what it is. Can’t wait for the next one to see if I’m right.

At the start of the year Loving Aria was the book I was most desperate to get on my Kindle in 2022. Leelah Renn set the bar insanely high with her debut novel, Becoming Aria, but could book 2 in the Vox Tenor series live up to its predecessor? The answer is yes. Absolutely. In every way.

Side note: It’s gonna be tough to write this review without getting all spoilery over book 1. The final chapter of Becoming Aria flows into the first chapter of Loving Aria so seamlessly that they could have been written with only a full stop between them. The storyline in book 2 is fuelled by the final chapters of book 1 so it’s pretty much impossible to keep quiet about the events that brought the characters to this point. You have been warned.

A large portion of the storyline is driven by fear. Despite her ex-husband being behind bars, Aria knows that his associates are coming for her. Then there’s the added complication that an additional group has been thrown into the mix and nobody can figure out who they are or what they want with her. Aria, the men of Vox Tenor and Roz are all suffering from PTSD in different ways and it’s impossible to tell who can be trusted or who is working for any of the numerous other teams.

Much like the previous book, the story is rich in imagery and refuses to allow you to imagine yourself anywhere but the precise location the author wants you. I’ve never been to Spain but Renn made me feel like I’ve lived in a hacienda and experienced all it has to offer. The different cultures from which the characters originate are expertly blended without losing any of their individual charms. It makes for a worldly and joyous atmosphere against the backdrop of Christmas and New Year.

Those who wanted more steam in the first book will not be disappointed by this one. Each of the guys finds their moment with Aria, and while Renn knows how to crank up the heat, these chapters are also filled with realism. Erectile dysfunction, body image issue and the difficulties of dealing with unusual size are all broached sensitively and are framed as points of character growth rather than major issues.

I found the story to be beautifully emotional, not just because of the fear the characters feel over their current situation. Renn dives deep into the minds of her protagonists, drawing on their pasts to bring out the emotion in their present. In the first book, we saw a lot of both Mat and Nik’s pasts and how they have shaped them. This time around we get a much better feel for Einar and the events that brought him to this point. The book hints at what happened with the mysterious Giselle (that prequel will be released later this year) and how the experience impacts the men’s relationships with each other and Aria.

If Becoming Aria proved that Renn is a Master at writing a cliffhanger, Loving Aria only confirms it. You could see it coming a mile off but still not know exactly how things would happen or what would go down. In the last few chapters of the book, I was continually surprised, not just by events but also by the strength the characters found within themselves. The final paragraphs were a sucker punch I could never have anticipated. I thought I got it, thought that I understood, and I messaged Renn to tell her so. She then provided me with another three possible options and now I don’t know which way is up nor how book 3 might possibly play out.

I’ve read some blinding books this year but none of them can quite compare to Loving Aria. Renn’s writing is magical and draws together a perfect balance of character, plot, location and emotion. It doesn’t get better than this.

Sweet, salty, spicy

Becoming Aria was one of my favorite new author finds of 2022. I LOVED the story, the characters, the sexy tension and the incredible suspense. As you can imagine, I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the second book Loving Aria, and wow, it did not disappoint. I've been sitting here processing the ending scenes, which were pretty intense I might add. I started thinking about the hours of gripping escapism I experienced with book two and what I might liken it to.

This story just pings all my "taste buds". It's sweet in that these men are so invested in Aria and even though they have all experienced deep trauma, their immense desire to be with her and there for her, and there for each other...it's just beautiful and sweet in a way I desperately want more of in the books I read. The sweet is perfectly balanced with the salty by way of heavy emotional moments which add to the realism of these building relationships. Then there is a bit of the spicy. Some deliciously spicy moments in book two, again, with some realism added in. These are not perfect people, with perfect bodies, and perfect emotions. These are people you can relate to.

That ending though...ooof. I have a theory but I will be eagerly anticipating book three to see if I'm right!

World building: 🌍🌍🌍🌍🌍

Character development: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Romance: 💗💗💗💗(the romance really amps up in book two as these guys are starting to work through their fears and push harder for Aria to stay with them. Some tender and sweet swoon-y moments.)

Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (the heat is also turned up in book two. Delicious...)

Suspense: 💣💣💣1/2 (Not quite as much suspense as book one, but when those scenes happen, they are gripping.)

Drama: 👀👀👀👀 (the good kind of drama, drama where we really come to understand our characters and their backstory, the plot elements that have you invested)

Dark: 🚫🚫🚫1/2 (there is some darkness to this series overall. There is a gruesome serial killer type stalker involved, detailed scenes of torture and murder, grief - some dark moments for sure - nothing within the harem though which is where my particular line in the sand lives.)

Ending: Cliff hanger. One that will have your wheels spinning.

Trigger Warnings: Stalker, detailed torture and mutilation.

Recommend: 👍👍 (two thumbs and all the ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

This book was so beautifully written! Such a fantastic blend of romance, suspense, humor, heart, steam, and healing from trauma. Aria is finding her strength and finally becoming her own person, making choices for herself instead of just letting things happen to her. But lucky for her, she has three incredible men on her side to support her and show her what real love is like. The suspense is intense as they are on the run and hiding from the people chasing Aria, not knowing who to trust and having to always look over their shoulders. And yet they still take the time to build their relationship and talk about feelings and dreamy declarations of love. 💜

The steam gets turned up in this book. I won’t be able to do a chakra meditation again without thinking about Mateo. 🥵 Nikola and his intensity had me swooning. And lovable goofball Einar had me laughing as well as fanning myself. 🔥

I LOVE that the characters are older, and how the author doesn’t shy away from problems that come with aging. This series is so unique, blending cultures and customs, set in unique locations - last book in Morocco, this one in Spain. Each man has a an intriguing backstory, and I’m itching to learn all of their secrets. These characters and locations feel so real!

And holy crow, that cliffhanger! I need the next book like right away!!!!

If you haven’t checked this series out yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your list! It’s so different than any RH I’ve ever read!

The Suspense Continues
Book 2 was was such an emotional roller coaster. The real action doesn’t kick in till the last part of the book, but the emotional journey was so intense. We get to know the characters so much more as they each deal differently with the fallout from what happened in Book 1. Their reactions were heartbreakingly realistic. Nothing pretty or easy about the aftermath. Even the depiction of their relationships was realistic with one of the men really struggling with the whole idea of sharing. Nothing sugarcoated here. Arias’ relationship with each man develops at its one pace and it was beautiful to watch her connect in different ways with them. Even the way in which they connect physically was unique to each relationship. My giant has my heart forever. The scenes with him were so real and sweet and funny. Ms Renn left us on quite the cliffy and I can’t wait to see where she takes us in book 3. My head is still spinning.
Please read trigger warnings.

The much anticipated book 2 is here and what a ride this was! My heart hurts for Roz. The upheaval and turmoil that she went through! We get some heat in this book as the relationships between Aria and each of the men take the next step as they prove their love for each other. Aria and the guys are in hiding all the while searching for their missing manager. And Vourdon is just steps ahead of them as they try to keep Aria safe. The clock is ticking. The action in the last bit of the book kept me gripped. And I have a theory about that cliffy. It’s a doozy so be prepared! I’m anxious to see how everything plays in book 3!

This second installment of Vox Tenor really draws your into the story as if your seeing it through Aria’s eyes. The way Leelah has created these characters and the point of views if each is just that much more interesting. Aria is building a relationship with Mateo, Nik and Einar while being on the run from Voudon. The guys are showing her she is worth protecting which she didn’t have with her husband. They are showing her putting someone before yourself is love. This series is developing nicely and the scenes with Aria and the men are so sweet and tender. Please be prepared for the cliffhanger. Please take a chance on this series you won’t regret it

“What a beautiful second part of Aria’s story. It was the kind of plot that grabs you from the very first page till the end. Lately, I’ve been reading RH with MM and I’ve nothing against that but sometimes I need no sword cross and just straight guys worshipping a girl. The pace is fast, more complex than what it seems and not to give details but everything happens for a reason never had more sense. Definitely I appreciate the maturity of all the men and mostly Aria, honestly everything about this story is pure bliss. The ups and Dows yeah because that ending was… I need answers please but a huge applause to the author.”

love Aria and her Vox Tenors

Aria, Nik, Mat, Einar , and Roz escape Morocco and go to Granata. They are all in shock and exhausted, but everyday they try to get stronger. Aria is trying to fight getting closer to Mat, Einar, and Nik but they aren’t letting her. The danger is not just Voudon, but someone else is after Aria. Can Nik, Mat, and Einar keep her safe? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. I absolutely love Aria, Mat, Nik, Einar, and Roz. Great supporting characters. The twists and turns are exciting, and I couldn’t put the book down. Great spice. Read trigger warnings and this is book two ends on a cliffhanger. Good news book 3 Finding Aria will be out in August

A great follow up to Becoming Aria. Leelah's writing is so immersive that you feel for each character (and all of them have lots of issues specially after the whole ordeal in the end of the first book) each character is trying to move on and pick themselves up in their own way while battling guilt and remorse. You can't help fall in love with each character, but I do have a soft spot for Nik ❤️.
Of course we also have fun times and sexy moments that were beautifully written.
It does end in a cliff hanger and I can't wait to read the next book!

I am so in love with this story, this series, these characters, the settings everything.

Lee Lah has the most incredible ability to pull you into her various scenes and settings in a way which makes you feel like you're right there alongside her characters. Add in the sheer depth of the characters themselves and their rich complex relationships and you can't help but immerse yourself fully in a way which leaves you blinking into the light when you come up for air.

Picking up where book 1 left off we see Aria, Roz and the guys flee to Mateos place. Beaten, bloody and more than a bit broken we see Roz especially struggling with what they've been through.

I really don't want to give spoilers so I'm just going to say we get a lot of back story in this one which makes some things clearer. The growth and relationship building is outright incredible, not just between Aria and each of the guys but between the group as a whole. Its not smooth sailing and the ending especially will leave you open mouthed as you cling into that cliff with your fingernails!

Wow, what a read. This book grabbed me and would not let me go no matter what I needed to do. This book has everything that is needed to make an enjoyable read. It moves along at a pace which is perfect for the story, has interesting characters that you want to know and a story that does not disappoint and keeps you reading until the end. This book is a must read, you will not be sorry that you did.

In the second installment of Vox Tenor, we get a bit of a roller coaster… it starts out where book 1 left off. They are still on the run for their lives. Roz is traumatized, and they are trying to find a safe place to hide. It settles out fairly quickly, and we get to see more depth develop as the characters build their relationships between each other. We get some more background on each one.. my fav is the gentle giant… Aria is coming to terms with her self-worth… and I’m just hoping the guys are able to bring her around to see that they are all stronger together…..The action and more suspense happens in the last part of the book. They can’t run forever. Beware of the cliffy!! This book is well written, and well worth the read! I love the settings, and I love the well developed characters.

Amazing and heart wrenching! Book 2 picks right up where we left off in book 1. Aria, Mat, Nik, and Einy have captured my heart and this book was riddled with fear and anxiety as we all waited for the big bad Voudon to make his evil appearance. The relationships with Aria and her tenors grows and deepens beautifully. Of course, some delicious spice was thrown in for good measure. This book is so well written and the descriptions of the beautiful landscape are fabulous, completely immersive. I was not ready for it to end and let me tell you, that cliffhanger is a sucker punch to the gut! The air completely left my lungs as I read the last sentence!! I’m still in disbelief! Such a fan of this author and I absolutely cannot wait to read her next book!

I really hate cliff hangers. The book itself is good. I feel as if there's to much of back and forth and they repeat themselves way to much.
The books ending on cliff hangers makes me not want to read anything else from this author.

Hands down, one of my favorite underrated series ever. Honestly, it's hard to describe or pin down to a trope or subgenre. Some definite tropes:

Reverse Harem
Rockstar-adjacent (Opera singers)
42 Year Old FMC with CURVES and rolls (gasp!)
Childfree adults
WITSEC drama
Mafia/Gang Assassin elements
PTSD/Trauma responses
"Protect her at all costs" trope
Giant man, giant feet, giant.... Anyway...
Spice, so much spice... Mmmm...

I liked this one more than the first, since now I know the characters and I really appreciated the attention to detail with Aria's relationship to each of her men, herself, and especially Roz. The pace is quick, the action all has purpose and it's not just there for fluff, even the spice has an actual purpose. I've got nothing but good things to say, which is rare for me. Please, do yourself a favor and read this before the 3rd one comes out!

Another Country, Another Cliffy

It rarely happens that I can't figure out where a story is going, but this is one of those times. I have completely given up trying to figure it out and am just enjoying the wild ride. And the rides are wild😏🥵. Where will the story take me next? No idea, but I'm sure I'm going to love it!

Leelah Renn is amazing!

Aria is such a great character. Finally a FMC that isn't young. Her men are all between 35 and 55 I believe. The plot is to die for. The romance is so very sweet and real like. The drama is intriguing. This is only book 2.. I NEED book 3. I need to know how it ends. I am so invested in Aria and her guys making it. And the cliffhanger needs to be answered!! I love this series. And the author!

Aria and her men barely escape with their lives but they left a member of their team behind. As they try to put themselves back together they realize that they are still in danger. As they try to come up with a plan to rescue their friend someone from within the same walls they're hiding in has betrayed them. Can they figure out who it is in time to save themselves? Can't wait to read the final book.

Please heed trigger warnings before reading. Deals heavily with PTSD and after-effects of traumatic events.

Loving Aria is the second book in a gripping thriller romance. I will start this off by saying that this book ended up being a struggle read, personally. The author held nothing back, portraying trauma response and PTSD accurately. Aria, the guys, and Roz had been through a lot by the end of book one, so while I ended up having to skim through trauma scenes for my own mental safety, I do appreciate that Renn made it authentic. Realistic responses to dealing with trauma make this series unique.

Aria and co escape Morroco and Voudon's reach, knowing it won't last. This book falls over Christmas, and they try to make the most of the holiday, even with being plagued by doubts and the aftermath of the attack on the compound. Aria copes the way she knows best - cooking. She takes it upon herself to make the best Christmas feast her guys have ever had. Roz is in and out of psychosis most of the book, it was the hardest reading her trauma. The guys all deal with issues of abandonment, fear response, and even sharing Aria.

Things come to a head near the end of this book, and it does leave off on a big cliffhanger.

Overall, I believe Renn is writing a good series. If you're a fan of romantic thrillers, give this series a try.

First I would like to thank the author for writing a book that focuses on characters over 40. So refreshing.

The cliffhanger in book one was a doozy. Roz was in peril and the Aria and the guys were at a loss. Picking up right there, this book was one very twisty and thrilling book that delivered some surprises and heavy steam. And guess what ?? Another cliffhanger.

The characters go through so much. Einar, Nikolai, and Matteo are the rocks Aria needs because the four of them are still in danger and the big bad - Voudon - has quite a few tricks up his sleeve. Glad to learn more about some of the gang and look forward to seeing what’s in store for others.

this book was amazing. we pick up where becoming aria left us and dealing with the aftermath of what imploded in Morocco. It’s a lot to digest with what they all went through. I was sad about Roz and her story. I also enjoyed we had some slice increase in this book. each man had his own closeness with aria and one is iffy on sharing which i’m sure will be resolved but I was still like ughhhhh stop it.

the cliffie I feel like I know what is what but we shall see in book 3

This series is something fairly unique.

This book is quite a few things, but one I didn't expect was a bit educational. It's cool that not only do the guys occasionally use phrases or words that are in their native language (Spanish, Swedish, or Bulgarian - and not just swear words!), but they also talk about their culture and traditions. The Christmas season arrives during "Loving Aria," and Mat convinces Aria to make a feast for everyone, as she used to do at her own restaurant before she found out everything she knew fell apart. She looked up recipes to represent Nik's Bulgarian background. Previously, she also made Swedish treats for Einar (but modified due to his diabetes).

It's been cool to learn about Morocco and the surrounding areas and cultures in the previous book, Spain in this book, as well as what the guys' traditions and beliefs are. I know I didn't know quite so much about nomads before reading this series!

Something else you don't see TOO often in books is where the guy is self-conscious. In particular, you have Einar (ironically nicknamed "Eeny" if you think ' Eeny Teeny Weeny' when referring to something as small), who is a BIG man in every way. Big size, big heart, and, appropriately proportionate, a big 'package.' In the past, he's had women gawk and either make comments or change their mind when they see him, and he's grown to be a bit cautious of what women think. Or, specifically, Aria. He also fears showing his true emotions, so he tends to deflect and act the clown. He's clumsy, awkward in his mind, but such a gentle giant.
None of the guys are overly confident when they find themselves in front of Aria, but she never makes them feel like they have anything to worry about.

Mateo has layers that aren't visible until this book. He has secrets that no one in his more current life has ever known. Poor Nik is more damaged from his childhood than he lets on, and all of these things show in this book.

At the very end, Aria is confronted with something that I only briefly questioned about earlier on but shrugged off. I think now I may have been right, but I'll find out when I start the third book!

This continues to be a slow burn novel, though they do become more intimate. This series is much more than just physical moments. It's so much deeper than that. It's spiritual (but not religious), it's intimate on a whole other level, and it's really getting to know each other (the men and Aria) and themselves. It's certainly not like anything I've read before.

It truly is recommended that you read these books in chronological order as this book picks up fairly soon after the first book. It definitely starts out with a fast, high intensity pace.

I am really loving this series. In fact, I have grown even more close to Mateo, Einar, and Nikola with this book. It is great seeing Aria become bolder and more comfortable with her men. What I really love is that not all the time Aria shares scenes with all three guys at the same time. This way it allows me to really form closer emotional bonds with each of the men.

Voudon is a real threat to the group. The gang has to keep their guard up. Yet, blood will be spilled. I can't wait to read to conclusion to this trilogy.

Now onto the second part of the trilogy of Aria!

It definitely starts out with a fast, high intensity pace which I didn’t expect at all. In fact, I’ve even grown way more close to Mateo, Einar, and Nikola with this book. You were able to watch how Aria became bolder, wiser and… a bit scarier here and there. Though what I loved the most were the way it allowed me to really form closer emotional bonds with each of the characters.

Sure, there was a bit of action, suspense, and a lot of delicious steam but there was also romance with it. You could truly feel the depth of their love and emotions for each other! You could watch the relationships grow between Aria and the boys. It truly was interesting and I can’t wait for the third and last part!

Fantastic!!
Book 2, in the Vox Tenor trilogy is such a great continuation. It picks up right where book 1 left off. There was a bit of action, suspense, and delicious steam. I do want to mention that while there was steam there was also romance with it. You could truly feel the depth of their love and emotions for each other! I loved watching the relationships grow between Aria and her men and I'm so glad we got to learn more about them. This book didn't disappoint and I can't wait for the final book!
