After a failed relationship, Gavin Price is on a quest to get rid of his pesky virginity. It should have been easy enough—but he doesn’t expect running into Saul Simmons. Saul’s eyes change color, his scent goes straight to Gavin’s head, and his sheer presence makes Gavin’s breath catch. One night together, and Gavin thinks he might have finally found his other half.
From the very first moment Saul meets Gavin, he realizes they are mates. But Saul is also a werewolf and a naturally born Alpha. His pack has very specific plans for him, and none of them include bonding with a human. Can two men from two different worlds accept everything they thought they knew was wrong? Can they handle both a forbidden relationship and impending parenthood?
This is a second edition of this title, previously published under the name Pregnant with His Werewolf's Baby. It has been revised and reedited, as part of the Lone Wolf Pack series.
Anya Byrne is first and foremost a longtime fan of erotic romance. Starting to write her own stories was a natural progression of her devotion for the genre. Years after she put pen to paper in that very first book, she is just as enthusiastic and let’s face it, somewhat obsessive about erotic romance and all that it entails. She is steadfast in the belief that there’s nothing quite as hot as an amazing hero—except more amazing heroes engaged in heroic hot lovin’, and has branched out into the field of self-publishing to convince even more readers of this fact. Hopefully, she will succeed :).
This was a perfect I'm-drunk-and-wanna-read-something-yummy kind of story.
There was insta love, mating, hot wolfy sex, knotting, and mpreg!
Pure entertainment, Vegas werewolf style!
My favorite WTF moment was when Gavin, who's a high school guidance counselor
But you can't take this book seriously. It's pure, sultry fun.
I laughed my ass off throughout most of this novella. The words "he was pregnant with his werewolf's baby" are actually in the story! OMG, I think I busted a gut giggling.
And if there's one reader out there who hasn't yet grasped the significance of Jessie and his dad, and how they relate to Saul and Gavin, well, I think less of you.
So I pretty much figure I don't need to tell you what the book is about and I'm certainly not going to spoil anything the title hasn't already told you. Look, sometimes you want to read a thought provoking bit of literature and sometimes you just want brain candy.
Here's your Mars bar.
I enjoyed this bit of shifter fluff with mpreg plus KNOTTING. No, it's not something different from all the others. It certainly had pretty much every trope you see in all the others of the like. But I liked it. The writing is solid. The characters were likeable. There were hardly any typos even though this is self published. The only typo that bothered me was the misuse of the word councilor. Gavin is a guidance counselor, not a guidance councilor.
The author even managed to hook me in to wanting to read the next book by dropping hints about a secondary character's past. Even though I think I have pretty much figured out what it will be, I'm still intrigued enough to want to read book two.
So, if you're looking to pass the time and read some candy, I'd recommend this. It's one of the better written ones in the sub genre.
This was fun and super similar in style to the siren bookstrand manlove stories but with mostly better editing! It reminded me a great deal of various other such books but in an enjoyable and easy to read way - a great benefit was apart from in a few spots, the grammar and editing was actually pretty damn good - enough for me to notice it to the benefit of the author. These days I am practically used to ignoring errors in this type of story, so this was a great change! There were occasional plot discontinuities that jarred me slightly from total involvement
Certainly I'll be getting the next book which will be Jessie's and I'm even looking ahead to book three, presumably for Dean and William (which fyi, had better entail some incredible explanations!)
Somehow with the title I expected something a bit more tongue-in-cheek, but there was no humor or anything at all innovative about the plotline or characters: just the usual big werewolf alpha meets virginal tragiboy mate, sex and pregnancy ensuing. There's nothing wrong with the story; I just really don't like sentimental alpha tales so this wasn't for me. On a picky note, there was something really discordant in the prose style, generally elevated diction--"garments" instead of clothes, "his lover's wet cavern" for mouth--and formal sentence constructions mixed with the occasional colloquialism like "heck" : "He dropped to his knees, ready to worship the thing of beauty that was Saul's dick." Was the Keats quote deliberate?
As I said, the story is about what you'd expect, nothing too terrible but not attempting anything new at all.
This was a short quick read that I really liked. Gavin who was a 29 year old virgin came home early and caught his boyfriend in bed with someone else ok I have to say if I had a live in boyfriend or girlfriend and we weren't having sex I would be getting it somewhere else also. After having his feelings hurt he decides to have a one night stand so he goes to a club and meets Saul. Saul knows that Gavin is his mate at first sight or smell. Saul is an Alpha male the son of the Alpha of his pack and it's ok to have sex with humans, but not to mate with them. This book was well written and I enjoyed reading it this my first time reading this author and although I wished this book was longer I know it's a series and I already have the next one. After a hot night of sex and Saul bit Gavin twice connecting one half of their bond Saul is taken away by his brothers and forced back to his packs land and Gavin is heartbroken. Gavin is depressed and eating a lot and has gained a lot of weight not to mention he throws up after eating he feels something kick inside of him his best friend Jessie takes him to see his father Will who is a doctor. After learning that he is pregnant to say he is shocked is an understatement. Saul has problems of his own he has been shot by his sister in law all because he didn't want to mate with a female or her. This was a really good beginning to a new series to me. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
There are good and bad parts. Enjoyed a portion and the rest makes me cringe - especially the sex scenes; I could hear birds chirping, see unicorns prancing in the meadow with a brilliant rainbow background.
Then there's the usual glossed over mpreg technicality where one does not and should even start asking where's the womb and god forbid NEVER should you voice your concern over the birth channel. Just lay back and relax. Everything is going to be A-ok. You are carrying a miracle anyways.
A couple of the guys all of the guys in the book deserves a skirt each with a pack of complimentary tissues to catch those hormonal tears - pregnant or not.
Overall, the book gave me the impression of reading an online fanfiction rather than an actual book.
Well, that was ridiculous. I found myself wanting the cute, reaching for the cute but just getting slapped in the face with ridiculous. Oh, there was KNOTTING. Aside from that...
This was the first book I've read by this author and I have to say it left a great impression. Enough that I'm going to try reading the rest of the series.
I loved the MC's. Gavin is a sweet guy with a jerk of an ex. Saul is a great alpha with nothing but love for his human. I wasn’t happy with the decisions made by Saul's Dad or brother. But finding out why they did what they did I felt more lenient towards them. I hate the elders of Saul's pack and truly hope they're replaced by others who actually care about doing the right thing and not trying to mess with someone's mate for their own agenda.
My only disappointment in the story is that I really hoped Gavin's ex would be shown what he missed out on and that Saul would put him in his place, but alas once they broke up he was never seen from again. (I'm a big believer in book karma.) 😉
I thought I would enjoy this more than I did. The problem is I've read plenty of omegaverse fanfiction and this pales compared to the best of the fanfic that I've read...it's just not that good. I know the reviews for this book aren't fantastic but with the title I was expecting to like this more than I actually did. I just thought it was boring...not particularly interesting, didn't capture the passion and feelings behind the whole "solemates / mates" idea well enough. I just thought it was disappointing. At least it was short. : / If you were a person who enjoyed this though, do yourself a favour and look up "omegaverse recs" on google and I can guarantee you'll find fanfiction much better than this.
I really enjoyed this! It has mpreg one of my favorite things in a book so that didn't hurt, hehe but I also liked the MC's. I was happy to see book two just came out today. I'm about to read that one now.
It took longer to read this story than the length of it called for, mainly because there really wasn't any depth to the MC's relationship. Well, that's not entirely true, I did feel it on Saul's part, but there was so much emphasis on Gavin's past that I couldn't feel it from him. And not to belittle Gavin's "trauma" but it was so briefly and vaguely recalled, that it felt anti-climatic.
So, all in all, while I did mostly like this, some parts much more than others, there was a great deal of story that could have been improved upon. A part I didn't like at all was the ending. Finish the story, don't use it to set up the next book!
2.5 stars Sometimes the conversation feel tame and dull af I feel like I was reading a political debate speech ugh, don't really like the packs homophobia plot tho it was so overdone, otherwise it was a pretty standard mpreg story the reveal doesn't even have that moment of surprise mpreg story usually has. Don't really like the epilogue tho cause it focus too much on the next mc for the next book on the series.
I enjoyed it for what it offered me. It delivered everything it promised even if it wasn't in the manner that I expected. Everything happened a bit too fast for me. I have questions that I want answered in this book but I think I need to read the next installment to get them.
This book is good as it is but could be great with a bit more polishing.
You can pretty much figure out the story by the title. I wasn't expecting too much, but it was a pleasant and easy read which is what I was looking for. I want to read Jesse's story to see where this goes.
Well, this was pretty lovely! Fairly short and extremely easy to devour (in fact, I managed to finish it in one sitting), but I still managed to become invested in the story and both of the MCs' journey to their HEA.
In these past few months, I've become quite addicted to this genre of stories: wolf shifters, surprise Mpreg, forbidden relationship, knotting, overly possessive MC X virgin and shy human MC? Yes please, inject it into my veins. All that, plus steam and romance, and a dash of future pack/found family vibes? I was hooked from the start, and I'm really looking forward to reading the next book. Gavin was very likable, shy and insecure and a bit traumatized, but very eager and also quite fierce at times! He and Saul were lovely together, even if their relationship was a biiiit to quick to be completely my jam; the steam was top-notch. Minor issues aside, this novella was very enjoyable and I'm excited to devour Jessie's story now.
Thank you GRR for the ARC. I received it in exchange for an honest review.
Not terrible, not great, but still a fun book to read.
Gavin is ready to drop his v-card. Luckily for him, he meets the mate he never knew he had. Saul was sexy and down for anything. They had pretty good chemistry together and the high level of drama was actually kind of entertaining. I dug it.
This started out fine, enjoyable even. But once they went their separate ways, my interest flagged, as too many things were happening. Gavin and Saul ending up spending less time together (both on-page and actual days) than they did apart.
And an epilogue from Jessie’s POV that doesn’t even serve as an epilogue so much as the world’s worst teaser for his book? No thanks.
i was expecting more....... angst (i'm disappointed about this)) and a more angstier reason for the disappearance. i think Gavin was too accepting too.
(AND OMGGGGG is Jessie's father, the mate to Saul's father????!!!!!) now i wanna read their story since it was described as Jessie's father looked more like his brother?? (i'm sorry if i got this wrong bc its daysss later reviewing)
Still on that mpreg kick. Because I'm a weirdo who likes weird things. I saw this a while back on ARe and it's been sitting in my wishlist, so I decided to get it. I wasn't expecting to be wowed, but I was still a bit disappointed with the execution of this book.
I don't know how to say this without being really problematic, but if Gavin had been a "Gwen" I wouldn't tell the difference between an m/m and a run of the mill harlequin (right down to the playboy hero and the virginal "heroine"). Yes, men can be effeminate and emotional because men are not robots. But there was just something so...womanly about Gavin (and Jessie for that matter). The language is flowery like a harlequin and just as saccharine with the pet names after an hour of knowing each other.
In the grand scheme of things, the MCs were more apart than together. I wish that this book had been longer so that Gavin and Saul could've have gotten to know each other better. The melodrama with the pack made everything feel convoluted just for the sake of needing conflict when Gavin's past and estranged family could've worked really well.
When I'm reading an mpreg, I expect to get a baby out of it, which doesn't happen here. And I don't particularly want to read the other books in the series, where Saul and Gavin are not the MCs, just to see what happens to them. At the very least, I hope I can skip over Jessie's book because I found his character to be annoying and unsupportive in a backhanded kind of way. But I guess if your friends can't tell you the truth, who can?
