Im getting tired of this shit. Gwen is not improving and keeps on making the same fucking mistake. She is getting her party in danger because of her misplaced morals. She is like to incorruptible goody too shoe in a kill or be killed world. When will she learn? Her master already died because of her naivety. Now she is dping the same mistake. Sparing her enemies because oh her sense of justice.

This is the stupidest militant pacifist i have every seen. She wants to bee too powerful that people wont fuck with her. But she spares her enemies and dont give them lessons they wont forget. If Gwen doesnt grow a pair and do what the romans do.. i will drop this story.

This would have been 10 times better if Gwen adopted Richards way of thinking after book 2.

I read this fantasy originally on Royal Road: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/141...

There are five published novels on Amazon (audiobook format also available. Book 4 has Gwen Song in Fudan, Shanghai in the middle of her university years. She is an outsider in a hostile, hierarchical country. She's also trying to connect with her father's clan and understand the history and these newly discovered ties. I gave three-star rating because this volume wasn't as interesting as the first three. I am sort of getting tired of the pace of the story, so I might take a break before reading the next volume. It's not posted on Goodreads yet anyway.

Eager to read.

One of the series of books that are hard to put down. The plot, and characters keep me looking forward to the next chapters and books.

Look, I *really* dislike apartheid fiction, but this does a decent address of it, somewhat, in places. Somewhat. But the world building is nifty. All told, I guess I'm in?

...well, I'm reading ahead on RR now, so I guess I'm in. A fun read, but a *seriously* multi-layer messed up background world.
