What do you do when a cocky alpha werewolf picks you to be his mate?
Sebastian's first instinct is to run for the hills. His second is to wish that Viggo had asked him on a date like a normal person. He would have said yes in a heartbeat.
But this is what he signed up for. He took the cash from the werewolf mating program, knowing that he was risking his freedom, and now the consequences of that decision have come back to bite him in the ass.
Literally.
He's surprised by how much he likes it.
Viggo is the very pinnacle of a werewolf alpha--tall, dominant, and built like a Greek god--and the way he touches Sebastian makes him feel like he's going to combust.
The way he tells him that Sebastian is the one he's been waiting for makes his heart flutter and his stomach clench tight.
There's just one problem. Viggo comes as part of a package deal, and his other half is a feral alpha named Bjorn who likes to chase bunnies, cuddle, and strut around looking like Tarzan's scary older brother.
Viggo claims that together he and Sebastian can fix Bjorn--that they can soothe his wolf and put his human half back in the driver's seat--but Sebastian is far from sure he's up to the task. He wouldn't even know where to begin.
He decides to try anyway.
After all, how hard could it be to tame a werewolf?
(This 120k word MMM paranormal romance features a dominant alpha, his cuddly six-foot-nine mountain of a mate, and an adorable second-grade teacher who may or may not be the solution to all their problems. The story contains rough sex, domination, bondage, muscle worship and uniform kink. It has a HEA and no cliffhanger.)

I hated this book. I only finished it for two reasons: 1. To see if Viggo improved (he does not) and 2. So that I could leave a review. I couldn't bring myself to say I read it without actually finishing it, but I literally hated every moment of reading. Sebastian was ok, and even Bjorn was pretty cool, but I absolutely hated Viggo. The imbalance of power was insane and the physical intimidation and even abuse was insurmountable for me. Of course, this is just my perception and opinion. YMMV.
It's been a LONG time since I read a book from this author! And I grabbed this one on a whim and I was so so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this!
Although Sebastian meets the two alpha werewolves in an unconventional means, and the reason for him being in their life is also unusual, I love that the three make it work. I really loved Viggo and Sebastian getting to know each other, Sebastian and Bjorn playing together, and all three of them together.
As they all learn more about each other, I enjoyed the consent and exploration, and all the growing feelings between the three. I also enjoyed how Sebastian felt about coming into a couple as a third, it felt realistic. And while the intimate scenes were very explicit and steamy, there were also a lot of sweet moments and a slow burn to the relationship and feels side of things, which I found was an interesting mix as well.
My one thing and what made this 4 stars for me, is that I felt like the pace of the conflict felt a bit uneven - like, there was a LOT shoved into the last 20% of the story (so much that I was worried there would be a cliffhanger ending) and although the scenes we got with Viggo, Bjorn, and Sebastian were crazy hot, I actually wanted more! I'm a big fan of when "firsts" - first major physical moments together, are on page scenes, not something that is casually mentioned as having happened off-page.
I would love to get more with this trio, or more with the new characters we meet in the second half of this story. This was fun, sexy, very hot, and also sweet.
This book was just porn. The 2 wolves were idiots who don't know how to treat a human being with dignity, respect or honor. Sebastian was just a sex toy. No romance, love, or proper consent or knowledge of BDSM(light). Horrible, despicable characters. There wasn't even a descent storyline.
Nope. It's like the author took the worst examples of several tropes (MMM, D/s, alpha MC) and put it all together in this book. Too bad, because I like all these tropes, just done well.
Ngl. I skimmed to the end cuz I couldn't take it anymore. It was nothing but porn and fondling themselves in weird times and places. Jesus Christ I never want to read the word "bulge" and "meaty" ever again
DNF though I got pretty far because I assumed things would get better but they didn't. Viggo is one of the worst people ever. This isn't a romance, it's a safety manual over BDSM relationships and how not to do them. First and foremost, instead of having actual conversations Viggo just assumes Sebastian is down for everything. It isn't till Sebatian is clearly in pain that he back off. Which, great, but sometimes even that is ignored because he does it again. This, of course, makes Sebatian feel like he is the problem so he is constantly trying to push past his limits to accommodate someone who isn't listening to his. We are supposed to be rooting for this relationship and yet I am on the anti werewolf peoples side in that they just need to break up and leave Sebastian alone. You can clearly see how he is being manipulated. Viggo even makes jokes about doing just that while Bjorn mentions it as well. They both acknowledge what they are doing is wrong.
Because they never talk about anything on screen every adult scene consists of Sebatian getting hurt or crying while thenother two struggle between making him feel bad because of it and just bulldozing past it to get what they want. I legit stopped reading at the part when Viggo is going ham and Sebatian has to scream out for them to stop because he is hurting so bad and they were ignoring him. Only for him to give in after Viggo decided that if he wasn't going to get his way he was just going to ignore him and get what he wants from Bjorn. No, I hate this book. The author usually has some fairly decent ones but this was a mess and makes me not want to read whatever else they put out. Not if this is their idea of a good romance. This was just gross.
I love this author. I never get tired of the cocky, sweet, confident, attractive, muscular, tall, dominant Alphas that star in the stories. In this case it's Viggo and Bjorn, two Alphas who are happily married. Bjorn, however, has been feral for 6 months and Viggo is desperate to get his husband back. Viggo decides that getting a human to join their pack might be just the thing to bring back Bjorn's human side. Sebastian is that lucky human. Although the book is very hot, sexy and kinky, I took off 1/2 a star because I actually wish there had been more sex scenes.
I really struggle to say why I didn’t like this but it just didn’t work for me. Maybe it’s because the one non-feral werewolf was not lovable enough to be an asshole. Or maybe it’s because it didn’t really seem like the human was enjoying the relationship at all? Idk
Bjorn and Viggo are two married alpha werewolves who find the submissive partner to complete their little pack in the human, Sebastian. Viggo and Bjorn are intense and aggressive in their care and concern, as well as thoughtful and extremely protective. The sex scenes are, as always from this author, fantastic, with many fetishes and kinks explored. The storyline kept me engaged and entertained. Really enjoyed and recommend Alpha Unleashed.
DJ heart first book in awhile and it’s interesting because the style of the book in the way it’s written feels like some of his original work. The book was meh but it wasn’t his best work. Most of the authors books are usually erotica with some storyline so it isn’t just straight erotica. As a fan who’s read most of his books I was disappointed. Most of his book he gets into the whole details of everything sexy but this book I felt like he was reeling it in to appease other readers who think his books can be too much sometimes. You can’t do a slow romance book and talk about all the gritty and delicious things Viggio and Bjorn are going to do with Sebastian throughout the whole book then when we get to the end we literally don’t get to read or live through those moments. You literally has us hooked then to find out we don’t get to read it. It’s is very disappointing and to me annoying because everything else wasn’t strong enough to carry the book. We never get to know the background story of Viggio and Bjorn. We don’t get character growth. Even as the story solves I am still not convinced that Sebastian is needed in the relationship. Because we don’t get to read the intimacy scene that was promised to us with Bjorn and Sebastian that wasn’t rushed, I don’t think Sebastian was needed in any of the equation. I wouldn’t of minded that that was the ending we as readers to get read. but you literally had to put more depth into each character to make us really love them so it all made sense in the end. But when you write an erotica book and you don’t get to read the juicy part that literally 90% of the book has been building up to it’s very disappointing. I really hope next book has some character depth to improve the authors new writing style or if he sticks to his original style to not skim the details.
I know that you maybe thinking that I must be mistaken because this is a DJ Heart story, but I am not. This story was really sweet.
Sebastian basically sold himself to pay for his mother's health care to a werewolf matchmaking service. The good news was that mom got better but the bad news - Viggo takes one sniff and chooses him. When Sebastian gets to Viggo's house, he finds out that there is a husband, Bjorn who is feral.
Unlike most of the other stories in the werewolves world, this one had safe words, concern for the human, and very little on page funtimes. There were graphic descriptions at times but no leather worship, and the wolf in a uniform was the nice one. There was talk of boot worship, but it did not go far.
I really did like the muscle worship though, that was done really well.
I enjoyed this story. It was well written. Only complaint is there should have been a trigger warning. Just saying kinky things happen isn’t enough. There is low key non-consent consent and humiliation play just to name two things that could be triggering to someone. It had me a bit anxious and not like certain characters for a few chapters because I wasn’t prepared mentally and emotionally for it.
No thank you, this was so bad. Had I know this contains humiliation as kink and otherwise, I would never have bought it in the first place! Absolute no go for me in books. Further, many things in the beginning are too close to non-consent and coercion for me. The characters not very likeable and shallow. I would not recommend this book.
I am not sure what I was hoping for, but I did not think dominance meant dubious consent. Maybe it was mentioned somewhere in the triggers, but I think this could have been a great concept but I was grossed out by what felt like borderline non consensus relations. Not my thing.
This is my first read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Sometimes reviews can be all over the place so you don’t know if you’ll like a book or not. I will say that I did enjoy this one. I have been in the mood for some poly romances lately and this one definitely hit the spot.
Once upon a time I made a personal promise to myself that I would never again read a DJ heart novel. I don't know who they're for but she ain't me and that's fine. However, past me you must have been on one because I own a lot of this man's books. Current me must also be on one because I decided to read one of these books. So buckle up sluts, you're in for one hell of a ride.
First and foremost, I have said it before and I will continue to die on this hill like I'm stuck in some hellish time warp, these books are too godd@mn long. 100 pages could very easily be cut from this and literally nothing would change. You could even keep all the smut (not that there's a lot but we'll get to that later). Now, in his defense there is a lot more world building and lore in this book than I've ever seen in his novels. Like, we actually get some background on werewolves and their culture whereas in the past he would just drops us in blind left to doggy paddle it out (pun fully intended). But still! There are scenes go on for far too long, and character moments that don't get fulfilled. Even the epilogue is absolutely pointless! His books have always had a ton of filler (I think it's just his writing style at this point) but for some reason, it feels more egregious years later.
And to address the elephant in the room, yes, the characters follow the same format they always do. Giant, roided out alphahole(s) dominating some helpless, spineless twink who is terrified but also into it. The man's got one fantasy and that's all he's selling. It's actually part of why I stopped reading his books because I was sick of reading about the same characters. What can I say, I like variety. The difference with this book, though, is that the characters feel like characters. Viggo and Bjorn aren't just vessels for a fantasy and Sebastian isn't treated as an accessory. Everyone gets a full arc. Sebastian even grows a backbone and speaks his mind. He even has safe words and uses them! I'm not saying I need them all the time but you don't understand how big this is in this instance.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually enjoyed this.
It's far from the greatest thing I've ever read but it was a lot of fun and I did devour it. The story is actually really interesting and cool. I think it takes WAY TOO LONG to get to it but I've already talked about that so I digress. There is a buildup and the roads actually do lead somewhere. There's a climax and action, even consequences. It's just a really good story and a fun one at that. I wish the blurb was better at conveying that but again I digress.
The other surprising point is that this didn't have a ton of smut. I mean there is smut but nowhere near as much as he usually puts in his books. Again, it's been a minute so what do I know but I fagely remember his books being infinitely smuttier than this. Like, the characters were always getting it on it seemed and that's why the books were so long. Here, a surprising amount happens off page. I don't think I've ever read one of his books where the smut happened off page at all. Especially when it comes to....stretching (I don't think I can say more than that without getting flagged). This might be hypocrite but it felt a little cheated. I mean, the books already long. You might as well write all the filth. Go big or go home right? Especially in terms of the epilogue. Seriously, what was the point of that? Does anyone know?!
I have a very complicated relationship with this man and his books but I didn't hate this. I dare say I even liked it. There are some issues, especially with the pacing, and I think page count could have been utilized better but it's not a bad book. And if you have the time, and the patience, it might be worth checking out.
Werewolf meets werewolf. Werewolf falls in love with and marries werewolf. Then werewolf reverts to a feral wolf-state and the first werewolf uses a dubious service to pair him with a human to more-or-less forcibly add to their pack in an attempt to fix his mate. That’s where we find ourselves in the opening chapters of Alpha Unleashed: Two Werewolves for Sebastian by D.J. Heart.
We first see the story through the eyes of Viggo, a successful CEO and alpha of his current pack of two. The other pack member is his husband Bjorn, a forest ranger and fellow alpha - though he has no problem submitting to his husband. Or at least that’s what Viggo thought, until one day when Bjorn’s human personality seemingly vanished, leaving only a gruff wolf in its place. This leads Viggo to seek out the services of Life Mate, which ends up matching him with Sebastian, a young human teacher. Sebastian signed a contract with Life Mate to pay his mother’s medical bills, and in exchange, he has no say in the matter when he is essentially bought by Viggo.
The POV switches between all three of these men, and each of them has a very different outlook on their world. While Viggo can be tough and domineering, the readers are also shown his insecurities, and the lengths he is willing to go to in order to protect his husband. With Sebastian, we are treated to not just his fears and concerns over what is happening to him, but also the way he begins to realize the parts of himself that don’t seem to entirely mind Viggo’s rough treatment. And for Bjorn, well, you’ll just have to read to see for yourself.
I enjoyed the time I spent with this book. The plot, focused around the secrets of what happened to Bjorn, was very interesting, and each time a new clue was given, another mystery seemed to pop its head out. And the steamier parts of the book were equally engrossing, starting with Viggo’s slow seduction of Sebastian and leading Sebastian to fall further into his submissive headspace and open up even further - emotionally and physically. As you can imagine, this culminates in quite a few couplings and many threeways along the way.
That isn’t to say the book is perfect. There were a few times I felt not enough details were given, like not being entirely clear what was happening to all the werewolves’ clothes whenever they shifted. I also thought that some parts of the ending felt a little rushed. All the dangling plot threads are resolved, but I would have liked to spend a little more time on our villains getting their comeuppance. At least the ones that seemed important.
But even with those flaws, I thought this was just a fantastic book. It had all the elements I like in a story: a good plot, sexy hairy men, and heaping helping of a kinky romantic relationship. If those things appeal to you, then you might just like this book too!
This has to be my favorite book by DJ Heart. Viggo is desperate save his mate and after months he finally decides to try Life Mate, something Bjorn would never agree to normally. Viggo blames himself for Bjorn going feral and hopes it isn't too late to save him. Viggo and Bjorn's love for each other is sweet, enduring, and hot. They are both alphas, so they are rough with each other, but they have been together since they were kids and their bond is deep. They keep reminding each other that Sebastian is human, and needs gentler care. Viggo is a bit too Alpha with Sebastian at first, which he feels guilty about. He and Bjorn decide to try and woo Sebastian, who has a humiliation kink. They honor his limits, and everything is consensual, which is something that is missing in a lot of ABO books. I really liked how they manhandled each other, and were just rough enough with Sebastian and backed off when he needed them too. Almost too much, in Sebastian's opinion. Sebastian wasn't just a tool for Bjorn's mental health. They loved him, and he loved them back. ❤️
Possible spoiler: There is a danger component to this story and it isn't the strong, macho Alphas that comes to the rescue. No, it's the tiny, weak human. I liked this. Of course, Sebastian is a teacher, so he's used to thinking on the fly and finding solutions. Definitely recommend!
DJ Heart has written several threesomes, and many of those have involved werewolves. I was pleasantly surprised that this book had a very different dynamic than those earlier books. Both Viggo and Bjorn were definitely strong alphas, but both were surprisingly concerned for Sebastian's express consent and enjoyment of their kink. In a society that allows for LifeMate to gain such a reputation among the wolves, Viggo and Bjorn showed that they have respect for everyone under their care. I also really enjoyed the wider plot that this book had - it was more than just the trials of a relationship, or the jelousy of a friend over that relationship - but rather, we have an actual Big Bad doing dastardly things that our MC's get to thwart. It was nice to see them learn about what was going on, and to work together to right wrongs, etc.
I'm curious to see if we will get more insight into this world. What did Viggo have to agree to for the assistance that they got? Or was the horror of what was happening enough to override that? How did the Mercer Pack escape the notice of the Council? Will there be repercussions throughout werewolf society because of this? Why didn't we see anything about the wolves who volunteered? What will happen to the pack alphas who supported this system?
Absolutely thrilling mmm paranormal romance! I got so swept away reading this! Steamy, original, amazing storytelling and worldbuilding—everything I hope for in a shifter romance!! I loved how three-dimensional the main characters were and how well the three of them worked as a throuple, however unique and challenging their beginning. The strength of the physical attraction between the MCs, in pairs and as a throuple, is nearly overwhelming; to say nothing of the intense heat as passion flares or the depth of their emotional connection. I loved that Viggo and Bjorn are still so in love, even after being together for so long, and I also liked that Sebastien isn’t needed to “fix” that, even if he does help them in a different way. Falling for Viggo and Bjorn is the last thing Sebastian expects to do, which makes it all the more exciting to see happen. There’s a little bit of angst and miscommunication, but just the right amount. The worldbuilding is intriguing and detailed. There’s also a great, highly suspenseful subplot where the MCs suddenly find themselves in a very scary, dangerous situation. Loved how that was resolved! And the secondary characters… wow, I hope to see more of some of them in the future!
I am always looking for a new DJ Heart book and it's been a while since the last one. This one dropped onto my radar completely out of the blue and I one-clicked instantly (which I have done with most DJ Heart books since I first read Omega in KU, re-read it, then bought it -it's a favorite). I love the werewolf books but ...they seem to be getting sweeter and wholesome (!?!?!) as far as a DJ Heart book can get. Let's just say I'm conflicted. I loved Alpha Unleashed and the characters and the story. There was an awesome plot and danger and men catching feels all over the place. Why am I conflicted? I was reading with bated breath THROUGH THE WHOLE BOOK for any steamy times that wasn't a teaser. Let's say I have expectations from a DJ Heart book that I'm not sure I got. I would almost say this was PG-13 ish especially compared to earlier books with more off page shenanigans and fade to black. I would compare this to Finding Home with that anticipating aspect. That said I really did like the story and would love more of Viggo and his expanded pack. Bjorn was amazing to his pack, his husband Viggo, his new human Sebastian, and really stepped up as an alpha there at the end. The epilogue was a tease and I definitely wanted more.
It was so great getting back into a DJ Heart book. He has such a unique flavor that he adds to books and I have missed it.
Viggo’s husband, Bjorn, has gone feral. Viggo thinks he needs a submissive human to bring him out of it so he basically buys Sebastian from a service. Sebastian willingly signed up for this service, but is still shocked to be contacted by them with the news that he has been chosen. Wrapped up in Heart’s brand of sexy, Viggo tries to be a good guy and treat Sebastian right, but it’s hard with his werewolf instincts pushing him.
It was so interesting to see Viggo try to navigate his new relationship with Sebastian while seeing if Bjorn would accept Sebastian. Viggo really wanted to do right by both of them. This story is so ouch more than the blurb but also such a good story of pack life and a growing trio. There’s plenty of sexiness to be had, but there is also an intriguing story.
I did feel like the events near the end of the book were a bit over the top, but I still quite enjoyed how it all played out. This was a slightly long but nice read. I really hope Heart doesn’t make us wait too long for his next showing.
This is a first for me from this author, and for the most part I enjoyed it. I haven't read any werewolf mmm books so I was excited to get that here. I found the premise interesting and unique which can be hard to find because I read a ton of shifter books over the years. However, I think the book had an identity crisis and wasn't quite sure what it wanted to be. A steamy polyamory relationship? A suspenseful paranormal?
The pacing was off a lot, and I felt like we bounced around a lot. First we had a feral mate that required basically kidnapping a human in hopes he would make everything better. He got better with a little help from the human, but plot twist, now there are bad guys involved. Interspersed with sometimes crude and OTT D/s scenes in regards to where they were in their relationship. I've read tons of books with power dynamics so it's not that it bothered me on principle; it's more like it didn't always make sense that it was happening. And then the ending, expanding the pack randomly...what was the point?
Basically, this book was good but the execution could have been leaps and bounds better. If this was a series with better pacing, I'd be all over it.
