Meh- OTT jp/protective, DDlg, praise and daddy kink galore. So much potential but it was missing something. We get our usual JK stuff- h that’s a v, OTT, j/p, protective H, dirty talk, but it was missing something…
Sissy (18/19) ran away from an abusive household. Her dad has worked her to the bone and keeps taking from her, expecting her to always follow her rules and has kept her sheltered, which is why she finally ran away. She goes to Sin City and is planning to work as a waitress in a casino. That is until she meets Locke.
Locke (35) is a highly religious pit boss😅. He’s a huge, big, hairy-ish, non-so-attractive man that was going to be a priest years before. He’s been celibate for a while now, using his life to help others. When he sees Sissy, he becomes instantly infatuated by her, and no other man is going to have her, just him.
I liked many aspects of this book. I, of course, giggled here and there, pretty usual whenever I read a JK novel (does he REALLLLLLY need 8 dead bolts on the door 😂😂😂). I like that he’s a big guy that’s not the most attractive and he’s super OTT/overprotective of her (I mean. No man better say they want to taste her c*** unless he wants to no longer have a nose💁🏻♀️💅).
But I was cringing at the DDlg play… it’s a lot… I can do daddy kink but I’m not the most comfortable with DDlg 😬😅. Also, like usual, I wish it was longer. Sigh. Maybe one day lol.
And we really only get two full smexx scenes (more if you count other stuff lol). That playground swing scene was pretty 💦😅🔥. Of course, the scenes are super diiiiirtay and 🥵🔥, but I couldn’t deal with the DDlg. Annnnd… the ending was rushed. I knew what was going to happen, but I still wanted it to be a little bit more developed.
It was an okay read for me 😅😬.

Not her best. Sorry, not sorry. This was trademark JK with the Daddy talk starting at 6% in, I don’t think she is even trying to write original stories anymore. Just a big burly guy heaving and grunting over a way too young nubile virgin. She just can’t seem to match her own goodness anymore. This one wasn’t even exciting. I mean where is the taboo? No best friend’s dad, no step brother, no newly released ex-con, no priest? Meh.

You know, every book that I read by JK is honestly a spiritual experience: I just feel so enlightened seeing these men being in a constant state of pain 💀 (honestly as they should be). STOP BC THE UPPER LIP SWEAT WAS REAL IN THIS BOOK 💀💀💀💀💀.
This story truly was an experience to go through. We got a heroine (her name was Sissy 🧍♀️🎃), who would skip her way (she literally skipped) through life, and had only ever lived on a farm with no knowledge of the opposite sex. And a vegas setting where we had a hero who, as usual, had anger issues, and the suppressed daddy-inclined nature within him.
The number of times that this man referred to himself as an animal should not be ok, and I would like to state that I'm traumatized 🧍♀️.
Add to the mix an abusive father, alcohol, and nighttime playground outings, and there you have this month's insight into JK's mind.

She heard some tips from another waitress and gets interview by Locke a put boss who is doing this interview because be saw her and going to protect her but for some reason pushes her away because Age and his religious thingy.
So it's Sissy who's the one who jumping him like a cat in heat trying to break him. Yeah which annoyed me. And Locke being yes no..yes no yes it was annoying. Bad guys are the guys at the Casinos wanting her because tight outfits. Yeah.. just cuz she 18 doesn't mean her vagina is gold.
Another bad guy is well the dad.. beside that and daddy. That's about it.

The little bits and pieces of a ‘Daddy’ kink in this one were tinged a little bit in a direction that made me feel the tiniest kernel of the ick start to creep in. Thankfully, the couple times that happened it steered back to hot dirtiness so I still liked it.
Obviously, it was also ridiculous, like basically every book this author writes. But again, the hot filthiness of it all sort of distracts from it and makes it somehow acceptable to me.

This was similar to a lot of Jessa Kane in that it was ddlg play, but it differed too with the priest background, which made it hot. Sissy (yeah, that’s her name lol) is running from her controlling father, arriving in Vegas to make a new life for herself. Locke is a pit boss at the casino, and becomes her savior, as well as her daddy dom. I loved that Sissy wasnt completely clueless, even though she lived a very secluded life. I want to say I enjoyed this, but when do we ever not enjoy Jessa Kane’s smutty novellas?

NOPE. This one isn't for me. I picked it up to kill time at work, as Kane's books are fairly short, but the incorporation of religion within the plot was a turn off.
We are reading smut here, people. Where does religion belong in this equation?
I don't want to read about a thirty-five year old convent drop-out who is barely in control of his urges towards a nineteen year old stranger he's known for 0.5 seconds. The daddy business is easy breezy beautiful; I could read that all day no problem.
The ex-priest who "needs [her] hole" and to "rut into her like a dog"-- NO.
I mean, damn, what a way to phrase it; "I need my ride. I need your hole. I need it now." Very eloquently put, am I right?
From the moment I began reading, the man I was visualizing was an underwhelming middle aged man you'd see in the liquor section of a grocery store. Nothing to write home about by any means, and I was stuck here thinking, "What the fuck, why?" Her reaction to his behavior was confusing from the moment they met. And don't get me started on the completely unwarranted spanking during her interview that made her run off. Nahh.
This is not to say that I don't enjoy the taboo! Bring it on. Just leave your rosaries and prayers at home.

i will always drop everything to read every one of JK’s new releases. this one didn’t hit the mark for me. at first, i was so excited to be getting a slightly longer book but it got pretty boring. the beginning was so good. i loved the tension and the willpower Locke had to not touch Sissy and just that overall sizzling chemistry set off to be a really great book. then, it got repetitive and a bit boring after that. i may be toxic but i wished Locke was more possessive and obsessive over her, even though he’s already that, i wanted more lol. super spicy as always but had A LOT of age play— something i wasn’t expecting and don’t particularly enjoy reading myself.
