This is definitely one of the most helpful and encouraging books I’ve read on spiritual gifts. This book makes it so clear that you can be BOTH Word-centered and Spirit-filled, and it’s actually important for followers of Jesus to be both of these things. I’m excited to apply the knowledge I’ve gained from reading this book and walk closely with the Spirit as I use the gifts that God has so generously given me!

Overall, absolutely 100% would recommend for every follower of Jesus to read this book.

Concise and an accessible orientation to the Lord’s giftings to His church for His glory. The consistent inclusion of personal anecdotes stirred in me greater hunger and conviction to take seriously what it means for me to daily walk in the gift(s) I’ve received from the Lord. “Use Your Gift” invites us to walk in all the Lord has for His church by displaying His heart rather than evoke fear or judgement. This book is for all — for those longing for more, walking in uncertainty or just unawareness. I believe “Use Your Gift” will stir the church to walk in His power and freedom in ways we can only hope and pray for!

This book gets five stars because it accomplishes the goal it sets out to do: equip Christians to know and use their Spiritual gifts. Sadly, even saying such a thing can be awkward among Christians (when it seems from Scripture people knew their gifts). Perhaps it’s because we have individualized our faith, and we need the body to affirm our gifts. I regress.

However, Joey’s book accomplishes it’s goal, and it gives Biblical and practical insights into knowing and using your gift. Joey is a skilled writer, and this book was fun to read. However, what I loved most about this book is that in its efforts to drive us to know and use our gifts, it never separates us from the gift giver and led me to a deeper love, passion, and devotion for God.

Perhaps worth noting: Joey is a continuationist, but a lot of his writing could be practiced for those who don’t share his position.

This is a bit of a weird subject for me to even read about due to the fact that I have a hard time even trusting Christians, much less Christians who talk about prophecy or speaking in tongues. SO! The fact that I read this whole thing and found it helpful is a big thing to say. Haha!

I think Joey did a good job bringing Scripture into his book so I felt more comfortable hearing from God instead of it just being some random persons thoughts on the matter.

It definitely is a bit rambly. He could’ve condensed it a lot and made it more succinct, but overall, I learned some things and am more open to talking about spiritual gifts.

This book is a great “read and apply” book for anyone who seeks to know and practice their spiritual gifts that EVERY believer in Jesus Christ receives by the indwelling Holy Spirit. It makes a strong case for practicing your gift for the building up of the body of Christ. It’s not just for a few “super star” believers that are in the ministry as a calling. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, know your gift and put it to good “God- directed” use. This book will help you do this!

Really enjoyed the book. Found the voice clear, personal, and humble with a tone that was convicting yet hopeful.

The topic of spiritual gifts is relatively new to me, but I think is such an important way to build up one another in Christ. Found this book helpful in setting the framework for how to think about the purpose of different giftings that God has given.

I knew this would be a good one bc I love Live Full & was definitely not disappointed! This book has a good word for every believer & I really appreciated the breakdown of practical steps that were so clearly Spirit driven. It definitely changed my perspective of the gifts & convicted me to use mine for the health of the Body!
