Kira's worries are only just beginning. She has a newly minted alien alliance to nurture, a settlement to run, and Skills to master, all while wrangling her children in an apocalypse.
Hemmed in by continually respawning mutations, the settlement threatens to outgrow its borders, pushing their safe zone into monster-held territory. They can't stop growing and Leveling, but neither will the monsters.
Pushed to the breaking point; Kira, the settlement, and their allies face their greatest challenge yet - waves of high-level monsters that threaten everything she holds dear.
Good thing Aussies don't know how to quit.

Kira's mindset has always been get stronger, protect her kids and her other loved ones. This time around she was on the offensive and decided to take the fight to the monsters instead of waiting for them to come to her. Kickass!
Also, loving how the relationship between Kira and Evelyn is growing stronger.
just keep holding on, surviving, protecting your kids…
Kira became a settlement owner to protect her kids, family, and friends. Which soon grew to include previously enemy aliens from off planet, mutated wombats, and any surviving humans they can find. The more they save the better for all of humanity, especially as Australia was written off by the System as it did not expect any survivors. Well Aussies aren’t the type to give up and they started kicking monster butt and learned how this new world of mana works. They are securing their home and reaching out to others, but the System has continually ramped up mana levels causing mutations and untold growth in native Earth species as well as the alien imports and the system mutations mixing our beasts with each other and alien species. The world has gone crazy and is trying to kill us all, however if you kill it first their is experience and loot! Which you can use to increase your strength and safety before needing to go out again. Because this apocalypse is only getting worse as mana levels grow higher and higher, worse things will appear at higher levels and they will need to struggle to survive. Kids has had her kids and her twin brother with her but they only know the kids father is alive, until now…
Like the previous book, I wanted to like it, and I suppose I did enough to give it a 3/5. However my complaints remain about it being slow moving, the main character barely making any forward progress on her own abilities, which in turns make this more about I go and kill things with so many others I barely get any exp. And my kids are growing up and I dont want them to. Even the town management is mostly foisted off on others. Good Points: Wrapped up the "whats going on with the other close town" story arc. Mason (Her ex husband and kids father) is alive and spends time with them. As a group they found a way to deal with the spawns that gets them to kill each other and the settlement finishing them off. And they kill off a high level flyer that was much stronger than anything else in the area. Bad points: Introduced a couple lines about Mason's group not being on the up and up. Nothing more, just baiting the story for when she returns to this series after writing a book or so that has nothing to do with System Apocalypse. They set up thunderdome and attract the attention to the high level flyer who sees a buffet sign, so instead of moving tunderdome further away, they decide to pick a fight that leaves 40 dead. Last point of annoyance, 3 books in, and were just at 6 months into the apocalypse.

Character development from a human perspective is great. You understand what they're thinking & why. Storyline could be great. But the MC is frustrating. If you're a mom this may be the perfect series. If not well... It's best to not try & understand the MCs growth or the mechanics because the system the author develops seems immature. Or the MC is. Both a little? Still, super well written series, just wish there was less seeming randomness or more depth to how the characters grow. Instead, it just kind of happens & despite many comments to the contrary the MC doesn't really pay attention or focus. Challenging review to write - which is good. The truly bad books are easy to review.
Well, the trilogy is done, and although there's a possible promise of more, I'm sad that there isn't anything else in this series to read. I liked this series, and all of it's offshoots. (well, I guess this was an offshoot itself), but nonetheless, the story is a good one, and although I'm somewhat surprised the next big thing wasn't introduced before the book ended, I'm still waiting for more in the series, because this whole world is just awesome.
In some ways this series feels more directed than the original. I think it’s because the framework is established, KT isn’t trying to balance *everything* AND build a narrative.
Only has to somehow make Australia survivable…
More of a daily-slice-of-hell than the original, also. The original focused more on the bigger political picture. Though, again, simply surviving Australia…
What a ride! 72 yr old grandma, non gamer, avid reader. This series IS different! I am so invested in the characters and the story line! The story is grounded in friend/family relationships set in a mall turned township. Threatened by an ever evolving range of mutated creatures constantly challenging the human survivors to learn and grow in their ability to survive. Fast paced, complex, adrenaline inducing, and very satisfying reads!
This book isn't as engaging as previous ones, or other System Apocalypse series. Part of the reason is because the introspection is frequent and rarely varies in content. The other part is the only source of conflict is increasing pressure from non-sentient enemies, which gets a bit boring after a while.

I am a big fan of the System Aoocalypse and especially enjoyed the furst books when Earth changes and characters struggle and adapt to tge new situatuin and environment. So i have been very much enjoying the Australian take on the System Apocalypse and the latest book did not dissapoint. Stakes are getting higher and I wish a had a pet Wombutt.
Loved it, wish I had sat down and finished it sooner, but that’s life. The enjoyable part of this story is how integral being a mom is to our main character. She gets to be badass, cool, and a mom without any of those interfering. And I like that. I think it’s a fun way to show a character that often isn’t done.
Okay story, lots of filler. Okay characters, but very slow progression on character development, and not just in the litrpg sense. Okay litrpg mechanics. If food, it’d be gas station food.
I have adored this side story which is a fully flushed out series. Seeing the settlement grow and level has been well written and fun. If you like litrpgs then this will scratch that itch.
This is an incredible series. The plot is so creative and fresh. The characters, primary and secondary, are so darn interesting. And the beautifully gifted writing wraps it all into a great gift for us readers. Here’s hoping book 4 comes out, soon!
Poorly written the protagonist has so much angst and guilt and the quests are terrible the leveling is bad no credit for battle experience and usage read the 3 books and was mad that I did
I had been waiting for the next book in the series for a while. I was not disappointed. Well written and love how she weaves Australian creatures into the world..
I can’t wait until KT writes the next installment!!! Now that the there are new beasts and new people what else has the system have in-store for our mana reader mum
This series just keeps getting better. I love the tension between the apocalyptic setting and having to also cope with both raising children in an apocalypse and those children *adapting* to an apocalypse. I think that is one of my favourite things—the lens of human resilience in the face of immense challenges. Plus obviously Mumma Wombutt, MVP.
