Grim

When it comes to women, I like it simple. Hook-ups and short goodbyes are my thing. There’s something about Meli, though, that keeps me coming back for more. She’s carefree, exciting, and the Pres’s sister, which means she’s off-limits. But when she makes it clear we’re not happening, it’s Hadley, her twin, who reminds me not all love has to be dramatic and crazy. It can also be gentle, slow, and easy.

Hadley’s never been of interest to me, always too busy reading or studying. But lately, I’m noticing her more and more, and that’s dangerous . . . for both of us.

She doesn’t realise the damage I could cause her. Because that’s what I do—I’m Grim, reaping souls and casting them aside, leaving nothing but death and destruction.

Hadley won’t survive me.
Hadley

It’s no secret that I’ve had a crush on Grim since I was a kid. I’ve longed for him to look at me the way he looks at my twin sister, Meli. The trouble is, she hates him, but I know how unrequited love feels, so I vow to support Grim as he deals with the rejection.

Forcing myself to live a little, I put down my books and pack away my baggy sweaters in an attempt to get on Grim’s radar. And just when I think about giving up, he finally sees me!

I never knew true happiness could feel so amazing. Then, one day, it all falls down around us, leaving nothing but broken pieces and shattered hearts. I’ve never felt this kind of pain.

Nothing will ever be the same again . . . for any of us.

Messy Sister-Lovin’ Stars
I went into this blind, and it took me a while to realize it was attached to the same series as Scar because they aren’t linked on GR. It has the same OTT-drama feel that Scar did. I was equal parts

And

So, I’ll round up because it’s free, but this one won’t be for everyone. Some things to know….

SPOILERS

⭕This is more connected to the first book Maverick (Perished Riders MC Book 1). After I realized this was book 3, I just assumed I’d be good since I read the previous book. Wrong. Scar is never on page and only mentioned in passing twice. The saving abuse victim’s plotline isn’t continued. The majority of this plot revolves around the personal relationships of Mav, Grim, Meli and Hadley. Evidently, there must have been some abuse that I assume was addressed in that book. I think Mav, Meli, and Had’s father picked on Hadley (emotional abuse) a lot, and her mom overlooked it. And the former Prez (or an old dead member) molested Meli.

⭕ There’s a sister situation, he doesn’t sit around pining for her, but Meli and Grim have sex twice. Once is sort of on-page (kiss, come scene), there’s also something else that would be a MAJOR spoiler to the story that may ick readers out, so without ruining the gut drop… I’ll just say that if you have ANY issues dealing with the “sexing up the twin as the OW” plot device… I’d skip… because it pushed my boundaries, and I can go with a lot.

If you’re still onboard… let’s go.

Grim and Mav (H-book 1) are best buds and grew up together. They’re older (10 yrs.), but at some point, he started checking out Meli while Hadley sat around sending him googly eyes. Grim has several issues (junky mom, alcoholic, unworthy) that he’s struggling with... Grim and Hadley start a friendship that slowly grows to more. I thought the attraction/love part of their relationship was very believable. I even understood his misguided/change of feelings for the sis… but it is a rocky, ugly road to their HEA.

I thought the author did a better job with the writing this time around. My biggest complaint last time was that the drama/conflicts were manipulated rather than developed, and that wasn’t really an issue here. My only real complaint is that I felt the fallout resolution was brushed over… Bigtime.

This is because right after everything blows up, we have a long time-jump where all the heartbreak and healing parts are skipped over. I don’t even have words for how disappointing this was because the “black moment” was kick you in the stomach black. I was DYING, then I turn the page and she’s hanging out with Meli. Ugh… 🤬🤬

I know this is a romance (and I’ll get to Grim) but I found it a huge fail that Meli’s part was never really addressed. She’s her twin! There were so many things just dropped. I don’t understand why she acted like she hated him if she didn’t. Her one “feelings” conversation she had with him (which I thought was a HUGE deal) was brushed away like it never happened. And IMO, the biggest betrayal of the entire book…

And to top it off, you knew how much I liked him, and you still went there.” “I know,” she mumbles, looking down at the ground. “But I was certain he was never gonna be with you, so I didn’t see the harm.”

…was never discussed. Like WTF??!! She pursued him knowing her twin LOVED him and gets off with this lame ass excuse. 🤬🤬🤬

For Grim, the grovel is better. He acknowledges/accepts his part (failing to provide full disclosure) and isn’t let off the hook like Meli… but a part of me felt like he didn’t get what a big deal it was. He seemed a bit clueless/perplexed that she just didn’t get over it.

Bottom Line- This is messy, but the feel is more drama-llama than heavy angst. In other words, I gobbled this up but there were no tissues. There is no cheating or double-dipping, but I don’t recommend to readers that care about safety. I’ve said this before, I don’t mind the mess, but I want it cleaned up. Grim did spend about 20% of the book trying to make amends, but I think the book should have been split in half, and the time-jump shouldn’t have happened. I needed more closure with the sister situation… as is, I was left with negative feelings for Meli and Rosey (who is a total bitch) and I have ZERO desire to read their books… ever. I got to a point where I believed in the mc’s love match (a testament to the writing) but I needed more than a page of them reconciled to feel confident in their future.

The book was okay it wasn’t too bad but I just wished she didn’t end up with the male lead. Like dude literally slept with her twin sister and got her pregnant but she didn’t keep it. And then he asks the twin sister not to tell the female lead that they slept together before . The male lead and the twin sister slept together twice before he got with female lead. And the worst part twin sister knew that the female lead has like the male lead for a long time and she still slept with. And her reasoning for sleeping with him was that she didn’t think he would ever notice the female lead. Female lead should have ended up with someone else.

★. He pined after her twin sister. Had sex with her twice. Said he didn’t regret it the first time and thought of the second time as a second chance. But I’m supposed to believe he fell in love with the fmc who looks exactly like the woman he truly pined over? GET REAL

Spoilers: 🚩

This book filled me with so much rage. 😤😤 Hated the H, he was a sorry excuse of a man who did not deserve the h who pined after him, her whole life. And when they did get together, she finds out that he slept with the OW (HER TWIN) TWICE. He didn't cheat but the way things happened, it was like, the h was second best. Which sucks and literally ruined everything for me. The sister also got pregnant but either miscarried or an Abortion, not very clear. Which was just the icing on top. 🙄

Didn't enjoy the first book much and the second I skipped. So I didn't really have high hopes for this one but PLS I hate this trope of the OW being a sister, or someone super close to the h. And the h having this unrequited love because the idiot man is too pigheaded to notice the h initially. The only thing I liked was how the h didn't just let it go in the beginning, she made him grovel. But like all these books, NOT ENOUGH GROVELLING. Barely any, in this case.
Anyways never again 💀💀👋👋

“Grim slept with her.” Mav almost chokes. “What?” “The baby she supposedly lost was his. She terminated the pregnancy while he held her hand.” I wince at the pain of those words as they burn my throat.

“……you both lied to me and planned to keep that up. I might never have found out, and I would have spent a life with a man that had sex with my twin.” I shudder. “It makes me sick to my stomach.”

“….I fucked both your sisters,”

“Why?” “Because I don’t know how to say no. Because I’m a fucked-up piece of shit. Because I could!”

Reread 12/24 I debated lowering this book to 4 stars because I really hated how Meli was forgiven and that it happened all off page. She was such a backstabbing bitch. It pissed me off that all the blame was put on Grim that really bugged me during this read through. I would recommend it though

5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. Hadley really made Grim work for it which is rare in a MC book. I feel like she forgave Meli to fast and put most the blame on Grim...I didn't agree with that..I thought she would feel more betrayed by her sister but I still enjoyed it. I still hate Meli though 🙄

Reading that first kiss- Im speechless I turn my head and utter oh no..this isn't how I want this book to go I'm shattered but must keep reading.
Hadley having always lived in her out going sisters shadow decides to put down her books and be more present atleast where Grim is concerned she lends him an ear whenever he needs to offload his troubles down by the Oak tree and he starts to see her instead of the girl with her head in a book..even if sometimes it's a hot steamy romance.
Yet guilt eats at Grim and there are just some things he can't off load on to her as their connection grows no matter what and putting things off only leads to secrets being spilled and hearts being broken.

Damn talk about tear jerker ending the evolution of Grim is huge and yet I can't get over the time wasted for these 2 so much they missed out on together yet I guess they both grew up in that time and I guess so did Meli.. I do truely want to hate on her for the part she played knowing what she knew yet she never thought that Hadley was even on Grims radar.. I really hope she gets some help because she is most definitely traumatised from past happenings and I guess we won't find out until her story.
Love the little pun you did with the name Oakley seems only fitting. Oak Tree.
Loved the little glimpse into Ghost and can't wait for his protectiveness to come out when he finally get his girl.

Ghost and the rose scene was funny

Hadley also has had Grim in her sights. Unfortunately he has had her twin sister Meli in his, or at least he thought so. What Grim doesn't expect is to fall for Hadley we he feels everything falling apart. Hadley is his calm.

So what happens when secrets come out?

My English is bad but...

I can only say... this book is THE WORST. i really wanted to read about Grim and hadley, but it was horrible. He is immature, manipulative, and a piece of shit of a man. I was hoping they didn't end up together, I'm disappointed. Grim never loved her. He only chose her because she was Meli's twin, and Hadley paid attention to him, Meli didn't.

Grim (Perished Riders MC) by Nicola Jane is a complex, emotional raw romance story full of drama, lies and secrets. Grim VP of the Perished Riders MC is on a collision course, his life is full of pain and anger due to abandonment issues which has left him a bitter, violent man who uses sex and alcohol to numb the pain. He is unable to open his heart to love, has mixed feelings about his mother who is an addict and the effects it had on him as a young boy which has him having a hard time dealing with his brothers and club. His best friend Maverick, Pres of the Perished Riders knows what he is dealing with and always has his back, but at times his attitude and aggression has them butting heads. Mav knows that Grim is unsettled and is looking to leave but the bond they have together is too strong for Grim to just walk away. To take out his anger he hooks up with troublemaker Meli with her wild and feisty side, Grim has always been drawn to her and feels guilty for not protecting her. Their time together is fast and hard with no emotion as a drunken Grim is trying to keep the demons at bay and Meli is happy to help. Meli agrees with Grim that what they have is sex only. Grims violent manner is about to implode once again, so Mav tells him they will be checking on a woman who has reached out to the shelter regarding her abusive husband. When they arrive both men can tell things are not what they seem as they can't find the wife but hear a baby crying. A fight erupts between Grim and the husband and Grim attacks the man almost killing him. So much drama and chaos is happening within the club as the brothers are unhappy to be working with Arthur and now Arthur has to intervene as the man Grim attacked is Nick Cambridge a Multimillionaire who wants his wife back and has put a hit on Grim. But the club will have no choice but to work with Arthur. Through all of this, Hadley sees Grim as a tormented man dealing with so much pain and Grim is finding that he is seeing Hadley for the first time and is drawn to her. Hadley is always lived in the shadow of her twin, wears baggy clothes who is seen as a nerd, loves her books who keeps to herself, observing all around her. But Hadley has a secret, she has been infatuated with Grim for years, will he ever notice her? Now Grim and Hadley are spending more time with each other, as Hadley is able to calm him down, gives him advice as she can tell he is troubled and dealing with so much pain. Can she help him open up to her as these two connect on another level as they both find peace at their safe place, under the oak tree. As the club is dealing with threats, Grim's mother overdoses and Mav informs Grim his mother will be staying at the club which has Grim spiraling out of control once again.

With the club is on lockdown, Grim is trying to deny he wants Hadley but needs to be near her so he agrees to take Hadley out as she wants to make herself over hoping that Grim would notice her. The more time they spend together they are getting closer until Grim has to face the truth that he wants Hadley as the sexual pull between them is too strong. All through his pain, the one person who is by his side is Hadley, without her Grim would be lost. The chemistry between them erupts as they come together in one hell of an explosive union which is hard and fast, but one person is not happy about the relationship. Meli is once again her nasty self who warns her sister that Grim is no good for and and then tells Grim he better tell Hadley they slept together. Grim is afraid to tell Hadley knowing that if he does he may lose her forever. Grim knows he is no good for anyone as all he leaves behind is death and destruction in his path what will it take for him to change his life around? No longer able to deny what is between them they begin a relationship that is full of passion and desire as Grim has finally found someone to love him and who promised to never leave him. Grim has finally found happiness until one day everything will be destroyed when Meli tells Grim she is pregnant and wants to end her pregnancy. Grim vows to see her through her decision knowing he has to keep this from Hadley. As they move forward, they want to keep their relationship a secret but when Hadley tells Grim she is pregnant he informs Mav that he and Hadley are together. Soon these two will be torn apart when Mav makes an announcement in front of the whole club that Grim will be claiming Hadley as his ol'lady and that they are having a baby. What transpires next will shatter both Hadley and Grim when the truth comes out that Grim was the father of Meli's baby. The relationship between them is destroyed as Hadley tells Grim he along with Meli broke her heart and trust and wants nothing to do with them. Grim is broken up especially when he tells Hadley she promised to never leave him, now he knows he lost everything.

This story has so much angst, chaos and drama as Grim has to make amends to his friend and brother Mav for being with both of his sisters but tries to explain to Hadley first that he never meant to hurt her as he has finally been able to love someone, but Hadley will have nothing to do with him as she tells him it's over. Finally Grim to protect his club and to make sure Hadley doesn't leave her family, he informs Mav that he will go to prison for assault so Cambridge will leave the club alone. Mav tries to talk him out of it, but Grim tells him that this is something he needs to do, but informs him that when he comes out he will be fighting to make Hadley his. So many twists and turns in this story as Hadley is inconsolable as she tries to forget Grim and the love she lost by moving on and raising her daughter Oakley, Meli tries to make amends with her sister as well as Grim getting to see his little girl while in prison learning how to be a good father. Once he is released from prison early lives are about to change as Grim shows Hadley he is not the same man he was before. The connection and love he has for his daughter is heartwarming, when Hadley finally reads the letters Grim sent her she is overwhelmed. Can she trust him again? As these two begin to raise their daughter together, Grim does all he can to make Hadley come back to him but finds that it will not be easy. Grim can tell Hadley feels something for him as she named his daughter after the oak tree that has so much meaning for the both of them. Grim knows the decision has to be hers, so he tells her to continue to see her boss to see if she would be happy with him or Grim as the decision is her alone. Can she forgive the only man she has ever loved? This story will blow you away, pull at your heart as you follow the emotional journey between Grim and Hadley as they fight the odds to be together. This book is cliché, cringe, cliché, cringe, cliché, cringe. I don’t hate the tropes, I hate the delivery. It was awful. There is not one character that I care anything about. I can’t close my eyes and imagine any of them as actual people. Bad role playing is the best description I can give it.

Gritty and Swoony Hero In MC romance

I liked this motorcycle Club romance story. I really like drama but also like tropes like unrequited love and good girl meets bad boy. This book managed to combine these tropes really well.

So Good!!

Grim and the Prez’s sister, Meli know how to have a good time but Meli wants nothing more to do with Grim. Her twin sister, Hadley, on the other hand has had a crush on Grim for a very long time. Now its time to ditch the baggy clothes and make Grim actually see her.

I loved this book with its twists and turns and the steam that comes off the pages. Nicola Jane has become one of my go-to MC authors and this book proves why.

I am always a little hesitant going into a book with a premise of a love triangle—let alone one involving the h and her twin.

But boy was this book worth it!!…So glad I took a chance with Hadley and Grim’s story. The end didn’t leave questions of how Grim feels about the love of his life and vice versa.

It was a roller coaster ride of emotions from the beginning to the end, but it was perfectly executed and I couldn’t have asked for more!

My rating: 3 1/2 stars

What I liked: I liked how Grim’s(H) mom finally got cleaned and was a part of his child’s life. I liked how Hadley(h) slapped her sister (honestly she should have done more). Lastly, Grim’s grovel the week to get Hadley back made me fall in love with him.

What I didn’t like: I hated how Hadley forgives her sister but stays mad at Grim. She knew how much Hadley liked Grim and she still slept with him. A sister like that who needs enemies. I thought Hadley’s family sucked the way they treated her in the past. I also wished Grim didn’t go to jail. That man deserved his ass getting beat.

***Major Spoilers/ Details/Triggers: H and h are part of a MC. H is the VP and best friends with the h’s brother who is the president. h has had a crush on the H but he always thought she was annoying. H has had a crush on the h’s twin sister and they have sex twice. H and h start talking and start a friendship. H’s mother is a druggie and the h listens when he needs someone to talk too. h also goes to help the h’s mom. h finally realizing she has to do something to get the H to see her as more decides to change her wardrobe. H does take notice, gets jealous when he thinks she is flirting with the judge and they start a relationship. They decide to keep it a secret. h’s sister finds out she is pregnant and it’s the H’s. The sister decides to get an abortion and tells the H. He gets upset about the whole thing and blows off the h. h confronts him and they are back together (secretly). H goes with the sister, along with her friend, to have the procedure done and they decide to keep it just between them. H tells the sister that he wants to be with the h and she tells him no or she will tell her about them and the baby. h’s brother wants the H to be with the h and is happy they are together. The h finds out about the sister when she isn’t feeling good and she goes to check in on her and she is bleeding. The sister tells the club that she had a miscarriage but doesn’t tell them who was the father. The clubs finds out about the H and h dating and the h finally tells her sister. h finds out she is pregnant and tells the H. He is upset but realizes that he is ok with it but doesn’t want anyone to know especially the sister. The h’s brother finds out and decides to tell the whole club that the H is making the h his old lady and that they are expecting. The sister hears and gets upset. H consoles the sister and the H goes with the sister to talk. The sister’s friend confronts the h and makes comments. She tells the h to go to her sister’s room and that the H will be there. She goes and confronts them. They tell her and the h tells the H she is done with him. When h talks to the sister, she slaps her. H decides to take a deal and goes to jail for beating up a guy that was abusing his wife. H gets out. HEA

Descriptive Sex: Yes

Final thoughts: This was a solid 3 1/2 stars for me. I haven’t decided if I will read more in the series. I definitely don’t want to read the sisters but maybe I will pick up the brothers book later.

What can I say about Grim? He makes a few mistakes when it comes to Hadley. He may love her but he also keeps a major secret from her and when she finds out I almost thought he wasn’t gonna get his happy ending with her. But good things he’s a stubborn as a mule. He will have to do a lot to gain her trust back and he does 10 fold. This book will take you on a roller coaster but they do eventually get their super sweet happy ending. I can’t to see what the next book brings. I know it’s gonna be a doozy! . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Just when you think you know where a book is going you get thrown for six. Grim was a 5 star read. It made my teary, angry, frustrated and then it put me all back together.
Grim screwed up and boy did Hadley make him work for it! Finally we get a h that doesn’t crumble the second she’s dished an apology.
I would have liked to see a little more growth in their love but in saying that I also believe he fell hard

★★★★ GRIM & HADS STARS

Ok now hear me out this was a fuckery in a nut shell. The shit that was happening in this book? Blasphemy!!! The red flags were flagging!!! I found this book in a Facebook grovel group that I'm apart of.

This book was problematic as fuck.
imma give Amanda cliff notes version of it..

Girl likes/crushes on boy for YEARS
boy is VP to girl's brother/president of the club
Boy is a manwhore because uh hello MC story.
Girl is shy/keeps to herself
Boy doesn't notice girl.. dun dun.. BECAUSE BOY HAS EYES FOR GIRLS TWIN.
Girl's twin knows this...girl's twin then goes and SLEEPS WITH BOY.
boy & twin claim one time thing only
Boy finally notices girl
Boy & girl are finally together in their own lala land.
twin goes to boy and DUN DUN.. drops bomb. Boy got twin pregnant like a dumb ass..
twin decides she don't want it and boy goes with her (could be triggering for some readers)
Girl has no idea blissfully ignorant
Boy is shitting in pants because twin demands he stays away from girl.
Boy admits he can't stay away from girl and girl's brother/prez encourages him to go after girl (brother had no idea about him dipping in the twin pond)
Girl then gets *DRUM ROLL PLS* you guessed it PREGNANT.
chaos ensues girl finds out about boy an twin leaves him and then boy decides to go to prison to give girl time for year(s) since that was a plea bargain he had.
All while girl is pregnant!
Boy is out in 16 months and GROVEL BEGINS.

IN A NUT SHELL.

Now I know you're probably thinking WTF. This sounds like a mess and it very well was!! The whole twin aspect skeeved me out! Which is why it's not a 5 star-er. However the GROVEL. And the grovel alone earned all the stars for me. At first he was arrogant about winning her back but then quickly realized the work he had to put in! And well I ate that shit up with a spoon.

Please bare in mind there was A LOT I didn't like. Like A LOT. But I'm a sucker for a good grovel.

7/10 might recommend

Love Grim!!

I couldn't wait for this book to come out to read about Grim and I wasn't disappointed. Loved this book. The chemistry between Hadley and Grim was super HOT and I was cheering for them until the very end. Awesome book!!

I freaking love it!
Grim is the VP of Perished riders. Maverick is the president and Hadley is Maverick’s little sister…
She has wanted Grim since she was 14 and he was 24. But their story starts when Hadley is around 25.
He is the troubled and brooding MCguy with a shitty background. He thinks she’s to good for him. She just sees a man, someone she has wanted for so long. Will Maverick be ok with his VP dating his little sister? Will Grim corrupt Hadley?
This is a book full of suprises! If you don’t like that, mention of alcohol and sex. Don’t read. But if your ok with it go get it!!!

Maybe 2.5 stars?

I didn't hate it but I didn't love it at all. There's not much redemption for the H or much romance honestly. This made me want to avoid all books by this author if this is how her MC books read.

I did not read the first two books and I felt like the beginning was super confusing, I had no idea who any of the characters were or the backstory involved which was annoying but my fault as this one was recommended under a certain trope, so I didn't want to start at the beginning of the series. I do NOT feel as if it's a standalone.

Mila and Hadley are twins. They've grown up in the MC. Their brother is now the President of the MC. Hadley comes across as a smart (lawyer), sweet, kind and "secretly" pretty woman while her twin Mila is "super sexy", forward, wild and a bit fast and loose if you know what I mean. Even weirdly, they're TWINS so how it one twin hot but one's kind of not? Fraternal, I guess?

Hadley has always had a crush on Grim. They've been pseudo friends her whole life (age gap) but not super close. He's a manwh*re. We also get several examples on how much he hates children and relationships. Hadley and Grim often have had long talks over the years underneath an old oak at the back of the MC and you can tell it always meant WAY more to her than him. He barely seems to remember she exists, but he's always had a mad crush on her twin but just never went there. Her twin, Mila also knows that Hadley has always had a crush on Grim and tells Hadley all the time how much she dislikes Grim and how awful he is.

One drunken night (so drunk Grim doesn't remember it) Mila and Grim sleep together. They don't tell anyone. He regrets not remembering so weeks later (after Mila runs off a clubwh*re Grim was about to sleep with) they have sex again. I *really* didn't like how descriptive the author was of Mila's perfect body, perfect a** and how he comes so hard his legs shake from Grim's POV considering she's NOT the heroine. Gives you the creeps.

Grim is going through a rough patch personally and with club business and Hadley notices. They start hanging out more and more and honestly, she's just being a good caring friend. They connect on a more personal level and inevitably, they sleep together. (the timeline isn't clear, but it's implied its mere weeks after he slept with Mila) Hadley is really happy and Grim is too even if he feels guilty about really LIKING her but not telling her he slept with her sister. (Because then she wouldn't be with him and he knows it!) It's one of those silly known her for years but never SAW her moments for Grim but stars in her eyes for Hadley. Like the girl suddenly put on better fitting clothes and suddenly she's worthy of his attention?

They start secretly dating. Keeping it quiet at first. In the meantime, Mila comes to Grim and tells him she's pregnant and wants an abortion. He supports her and takes her to the appointment, lying to Hadley about what he's doing. Mila also lies to Hadley when Hadley finds out (tells her she miscarried) from a ONS. They're both actively lying to Hadley now and Mila also acts very jealous at times over Grim, which is confusing because Mila told Grim basically, they used each other for a release and Mila tells Hadley all the time how much she hates Grim, confusing Hadley. Lots of secret whispering behind the scenes kind of thing.

Obviously, it all comes to a head and secrets are exposed after surprise, Hadley finds out she's pregnant! Guess this dude loves knocking up sisters. Skeevy. When that's announced to the MC Hadley gets to find out not only did Grim sleep with his crush (her own twin) more than once, but he also got her pregnant and went to her abortion appointment with her holding her hand while lying to Hadley the whole time (even better Mila starts crying when she hears the news and Grim follows her up to her room and is holding her while she's crying which Hadley walks in on).

She's rightfully pissed off. He didn't cheat of course but he actively lied, gaslighted and hid stuff from her their entire (short) relationship, went with another woman to her abortion appointment and it was HER TWIN. Mila also decides to confess she slept with Grim hoping one day he'd want to be with her and expected a relationship. Mila is a terrible sister. Excuses the fact she purposely went after her sisters crush because she never thought Grim would go for Hadley so that makes it okay. Seriously, more ick. I almost DNF at this point but I'm a sucker for a hot mess.

Hadley's so pissed she wants nothing to do with Grim or Mila. She moves out of the MC. Grim decides in a move of brilliant f*ckery, that he'll turn himself in to jail for (club business) sentencing so Hadley can move back to the MC and "be safe" while giving her time to "think." He expects to go away for 2 -3 years.

HE WILLINGLY ABANDONS HIS NEWLY PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND HER ENTIRE PREGNANCY FORCING HER TO DO IT ALL ALONE, MISSES THE BIRTH OF HIS CHILD AND THE FIRST 8 MONTHS OF HIS DAUGHTERS LIFE.

Fast forward- Hadley has no contact with Grim for *16 months*. She ignores his letters, doesn't visit him, doesn't take his calls but does allow her mother and brother to take their daughter, Oakley (Oak Tree get it?) to see Grim in prison (after she's several weeks old of course). She doesn't keep his child from him. She forgives her sister at some random point too because she's a good aunty! Rolling my eyes. It's glossed over so fast with a time skip you are left going huh??!

One day, he shockingly gets out of prison early, comes home and immediately wants to be with her and cannot FATHOM why she's not interested. Basically, tells her she's "his" whether she likes it or not and the entire MC supports this. He is suddenly the MOST amazing dad too, like went from hating kids to perfect Daddy 101. Tries to manipulate Hadley into spending time with him and Oakley "as a family" when she wants nothing to do with him. Meanwhile he lets a club girl touch his d*ck at his welcoming home party (then tells her he has an old lady) and to make Hadley jealous flirts with and takes another woman's number at the aquarium in front of her. Mila warns her not to make Grim try too hard or he'll get bored and leave her. WTF??

Hadley goes on a date with another man (with Grim's permission) and mid date decides she wants to be with Grim too so runs home into his arms and that's it. That's the m*therf*cking ending of the book.

Zero grovel. Almost zero relationship. Almost zero romance.

The early chapters basically go "f*cking, f*cking, drama, f*cking, lies, skip weeks ahead." "F*cking, f*cking, drama, lies, skip weeks ahead."

Zero growth from the MMC. Zero penance or apologies for his actions. I literally think he sends her flowers once and takes her on a date in a library. In fact, he's in prison longer than they were ever together. I came away thinking Hadley was in like with the childhood/teenage idea of loving Grim even though he doesn't respect her and Grim just decided that Hadley is his. I never bought an adult relationship or even that they're in love with each other. JMO!

Epic read

Holy moly Nicola is is the gift that keeps on giving now from reading the blurb I knew this one was going to be an emotional rollercoaster and Nicola didn't disappoint.

One minute I was getting sucked into the club life and Grims wicked ways the next I wanted to hug him due to his mother's situation the next I wanted to junk punch him so bad with the way he treated Hads.

Oh and don't get me started on Meli I mean come on girl, she should have stayed clear, knowing her twin had feelings for him, then threw the it could have been us card... so yeah she is on my sh#t list, along with Rosey she is an epic sh#t sturer, but at least she airs everyone's dirty laundry lol.

The best thing about Nicolas books is that you never can guess where the story is going I mean sure but he gets a girl biker messes up but he gets to go again is how many stories go but Nicola has the the the gift of throwing curveballs and keeping you guessing.

I feel for Hadley living in a sister shadow knowing that the one man she is always loved doesn't see her but she's my sister instead. So when Hadley finally decided to make changes I was like yes girl and proud that she's fine comfort zone. Finally the guy she wants is taking notice, and we finally think the book is going to be plain sailing but all know Nicola throws one of those curveballs, and blows the story wide open, leaving Hadley alone and heartbroken.

Good job Nicola.

I can’t believe it took me so long to have time to read this book. I finished late last night and immediately began messaging all my reader pals.
This is the epic love story that we all search high and low. I have no problem screaming from the rooftops; Grim is my guy!

Grim is the VP, and has grown up in the club with twin sisters; Hadley and Meli. It was always Meli that caught his eye, even though Hadley has been head over heels in love with him.
If you think that Meli and Grim hook up, keep it a secret, and when it doesn’t go anywhere he then gets Hadley….. well, you would be right. But, the story is so much more than just that.

We see how rough Grim’s life is with his Moms addiction issues. We get to see how great Hadley is in taking care of everyone, and how much she loves and longs for Grim. Life seems to make sense when Grim and Hadley get together and he falls hard for her. But, he knows Hadley can never find out the secrets he has with her twin. He refuses to lose her.

Of course, the secret comes out. This is where the book goes from good to great. Please read the book so that you can experience the sad heartbreak, but man oh man, you get to experience the greatest grovel and redemption.

I loved this book and I will be re-reading it many times !!

Rubbish. Zero stars.

It's so ridiculous I'm actually laughing. I DNF'd at 76%. It's the jankiest idea for a love story.
Moving past the horror of him getting her sister, who he has been into for years, pregnant, he gets h pregnant 5 minutes later (the intimate scene was so gross I skimmed it. No condom use with someone in an MC.. 🤢 Why not just go lick the clubs bathroom toilet instead?) and then.. Get this, then he thinks, because she's upset that they hid all of this from her and wants to move out, he actually thinks the best way to handle this.. Is to make her a single mother for a couple years by turning himself in to go to prison. Get out of here with this nonsense. Typical man who will do anything to get out of helping take care of his own baby.
The author also does a horrible job on both these characters as far as making me feel their sudden love story. I feel nothing. And now this nonsense. Boo. Couldn't delete it fast enough. Won't be reading this author again.

Sometimes you have to fight for what you want

I received an ARC from BookSprout and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is book 3 of the Perished Riders MC series.

Triggers:
topics brought up: addiction, abuse, murder, abortion

Spoilers:
Grim, raised by his pops because his mom was a junkie - VP in the MC, he prefers the open road and no commitments. best friend to Mav, Pres of the Perished Riders. Grim has always been attracted to Meli, Mav's sister and they hook up when the mood strikes them.

Hadley, twin to Meli - she's the quiet one. Hadley has had a crush on Grim for years. Finally Grim and Hadley get together but he has never told her about his thing with her twin sister.

Threats from outside sources. Drama. Sexy time. I personally am not a fan of storylines where the main character has had relations with the parent or sibling of the other main character but overall I enjoyed this read. HEA

Time jump on grovel

The writing is good, the story was interesting....till you got to the peak. The big fall out, that needed groveling. Which was towards the end of the book. The grovel wasn't even good. The guy just wasn't around, he didn't grovel, he just ran away. The FMC I'd say was written like they wanted her o be strong, but she was still a bit of a doormat. The ending was super disappointing and unsatisfactory, and just super rushed, like the author was just done writing the book.
