Undying Resilience

Rate this book
Falling for three hitmen has changed Wren’s life in every way imaginable. She’s never felt so cared for and cherished, but she still hasn’t gotten over the fear that came with getting swept into the guys’ last job.

When Elliot, Rhett, and Oliver have to leave town for a few days, Wren opts to stay home, too worried she’ll end up in danger if she goes with them. The guys take precautions to keep her safe, but they miscalculate just how desperate some of their enemies are for payback.

Alone, Wren gets kidnapped by a man who only cares about one thing: avenging his brother’s death. Meanwhile Elliot, Rhett, and Oliver are halfway across the country when they finally realize what’s going on.

While Wren fights to stay alive, the guys rush to get back. Promises are put to the test and questionable decisions are made as they get more and more desperate to find her. Wren knows the guys will come for her, but as her situation starts looking more and more dire, all four of them begin to have the same thought:

What if they’re too late?

Thank you so much to the author, Elira, for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Undying Resilience releases August 31, 2022

Undying Resilience is a continuation of the Ruthless Desires series, which is a why choose/polyam (MMMF) dark and suspenseful romance.
Told in 4 pov, we follow Wren, Rhett, Oliver, and Elliot.
This takes place just over one week after the events in the second book. The guys take their first out of state job since forming this connection with Wren, and the stakes are higher than ever.

I devoured this. But that’s truly no surprise because this quad? Yeah, the chokehold is real.

This installment is slightly darker than the rest. Although personally, I didn’t really find it as dark as I was initially expecting (probably because I’m comfortable with crime tv and dark literature to begin with) but not everyone is comfortable with this so please check the full tw beforehand —
TW include: kidnapping, torture, drowning, murder, nightmares, fear of water, forced starvation, aversion to touch and vulnerability, anxiety, insomnia, explicit sex scenes with bondage, dom/sub, degradation, and more.

This might be my favourite in the series so far. I thought the balance between smut scenes and the rest of the plot was really well done.
Each of the characters really open up in Undying Resilience and shine their own light, while embracing their own, and each other’s struggles and trauma.
It’s so overwhelmingly clear how this quad strongly feels for each other. The emotions, while some may not always be able to verbally express how they feel, are no doubt present. It’s truly so difficult to choose just one character to pinpoint. The equality and consideration is some of the best I’ve read. You genuinely won’t find jealousy here (at least not the ill-natured kind). While the intimate scenes are hotter than hell, their relationship is much much more than just sex. I think it would take something out of this world to dismantle the bonds they have.

The soft spot I have for Rhett - somehow I think he has the most trauma but tries the most not to outwardly show it. The pain, grief, anger, previous abuse, trust issues - it’s all so palpable. Every time he would open up with one of the other characters my heart just melted because the outward growth from just being a tense figure against a wall is indescribable.
I really loved the normalization of having male characters breakdown emotionally (esp that shower scene, wow). There’s always this stigma to be hard and masculine, not soft, but it’s okay to not be okay all of the time.

“Are you okay?”
“Okay. It’s such an arbitrary way to measure a person’s wellbeing. There are times when I’m okay—when I’m distracted, or when I’m with Oliver and Ell, or on the few days I’m able to control my thoughts. But is that okay? Or is that just barely coping? And if so, then what the fuck am I right now?”

Oliver really stole the show in this, and that’s all I want to say about that without giving away any spoilers.
But also, Wren? She’s so strong and I loved the part near the end when she took control for herself. It was unexpected, but needed, and handled well given the circumstances.
Can’t forget Elliot. His mind amazes me, I love that he loves books, and to me he really feels like the glue between them all.

There was really no hesitating getting into the good stuff. There was spice within chapter one, and by 20% things were already going sideways. You won’t want to put this down.

Things I liked that you might like too:
- practicing self defense
- movie dates
- mile high club but make it a private plane with a bed and also a threesome. hot.
- gifting books
- confessing love
- backstory with Oliver and the freak timing heart attack? okay hello
- all the spice, because duh.
- the four of them sleeping together (legitimately just innocent sleeping)
- putting night lights in their house so Wren can get comfortable with the layout (swoon)
- consent and aftercare always!!
- $10K home doctor visit (he’s rich rich)
- ice cream traditions

I’m still itching for more backstory, and to know if the tattoos symbolize anything. I know there’s a few more books still to come and a lot of heavy trauma to unload, so I will be patient! (It’s still only been 2-3 weeks in their timeline if you can believe it - I can’t)
Would die for a flashback from when they first laid eyes on Wren, I think that would be so fun.

idk how to explain it, but these characters like have a personality ,,,

like so often characters can all be carbon copies with very little differences, but they have intrigue ?? and they’re actions match their personalities

maybe I haven’t read a decent book in a while but like this was fun, even with the captivity trope (which I hate)

and honestly, not too traumatizing. like the content warnings page was like “WARNING V GRAPHIC” but it felt like tamer that I thought it would be

“Because I love you, Wren. Maybe it’s too fast, but I don’t care. I love you, and I’d die a thousand deaths if it meant you got out of here alive.”

Undying Resilience is book three of the Ruthless Desires series by Elira Firethorn. This one is a little darker and more intense than the other three. The FMC gets kidnapped and tortured but Oliver gets himself kidnapped to go to her rescue. He really grinds Rhett’s and Elliot’s gears doing this. They are all so protective and possessive of each other. I love the relationship between them.

“I swear, love, sometimes it feels like you were made just for the three of us.”

This is an MMMF dark romance series, the series follows the same couple, Wren(FMC), Elliot, Rhett and Oliver. You have to read it in order for it to make sense or you’ll be lost/confused.

“Up here, princess. Look at me while you fall apart.”

Always be aware of trigger warnings before starting a book.

TW:
Emotional: The mention and aftereffects of emotional/verbal abuse during childhood (flashbacks, aversion to vulnerability, touch, and opening up emotionally), blurred lines of good and evil, a corruption arc of one of the main characters, depression, running anxious thoughts, nightmares, and a fear of water.
Physical: The mention of domestic violence, murder, kidnapping, forced starvation and dehydration, violence, multiple full scenes of torture by nonfatal drowning, a fade to black torture and murder scene that includes knives and cutting, and a torture and murder scene that includes fatal drowning.
Sexual: This book also contains explicit sex scenes that include bondage, edging, impact play, DVP, spit play, domination and submission, and degradation.

Happy Reading 🖤

This book might not outshine the second one in the series (trust me, that one still has all my love) but it’s got its own wild charm that keeps me coming back for more. There’s just something about these characters that hooked me from the start. Their dynamic and unspoken connection is just sooo good, UGH!

This installment dives into darker territory than the first two, and I mean darker in the best possible way. The plot twists hit hard, leaving me clawing at the pages.

I wasn’t 100% sold on every moment, but even those moments somehow added to the rich, gritty texture of the story. I’m already buzzing with excitement about where this story is heading 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️

{ARC review} I want to thank the author for allowing me to be an ARC reader, I was very elated when I got the email! Undying Resilience is the third installment of the Ruthless Desires series (Blissful Masquerade & Perfect Convergence are the first two) a must read series if you’re looking for a quick, dark, very spicy, angst/ suspenseful plot. This is a Whychoose/Polyam/MMMF trope! Also MULTI POV!!

As always please be sure to check all and any Trigger warnings before reading! This book in particular is a lot darker than the previous two!

TWs Include: Aversion to vulnerability, touch, and opening up emotionally, depression, anxiety, nightmares, and a fear of water. Murder, kidnapping, forced starvation and dehydration, violence, nonfatal drowning scene, and a fatal drowning scene. This book also contains explicit sex scenes that include bondage, edging, impact play, spit play, domination and submission, and degradation. Everything is consensual!

I fell in love with the characters in the first book but this book solidified my love for them even more than I imagined! This book has the perfect amount of spice and plot! The plot was very intriguing and it had me on the edge of my seat every chapter! I will always recommend this series! Elliot, Wren, Oliver and Rhett have a speck place in my heart!

I absolutely loved the character growth we got in this book, from all of the characters! I loved being able to be in each of their heads and know what they were feeling in the moment. The range of raw emotions between these four were perfectly executed by the author, and it felt very much as if you were feeling everything they were! Rhett’s shower scene!?AMAZING portrayal of breaking down, showing vulnerability and slowly allowing someone near him in a moment so raw like that. He’s always been the one to bottle it all up and never wanting to show his emotions, never liked feeling vulnerable, but I love that we got to see him slowly come of his shell a bit in this book.

Wren taking back her power & exploring a side of her that was suppressed by the person of her past, was also one of my favorite scenes in this book! I love how supportive the men are with her, allowing and willing to do anything to make her feel comfortable!

Oliver was a game changer in this one, he took the spotlight! He’s a softie but don’t let it fool you, he’ll go to hell and back to protect his loved ones! His character development was amazing. I loved seeing this side of him!

Elliot, was on the more emotional side in this book, but it goes to show how deeply he loves! This was a very vulnerable side to him that I’m glad I got to see, he’s always calculated and focused, so seeing this side to him and how he was trying to keep calm was heart wrenching!

They all make sense together, they are each other’s missing pieces. They were I complete until they found Wren <3

“You’re my favorite part of Fridays.”

“I’d die a thousand deaths if it meant you got out of here alive.”

“I think I’ve made it pretty clear that whenever you’re concerned, careful flies right out the window.”

I’m in love with this series, GO READ IT! There will be 6 books in total! I cant wait for the rest of them!!

I just love this series. Idk why but I just do.

Something about Rhett, Elliot, and Oliver makes me feel happy.

This book was an emotional roller coaster from the beginning till the end.

Excited to read the fourth book!

Idk for me it was def not better than the first 2 but it was still really good. I enjoyed it a lot, it just that I don’t feel like this book was “darker” than the 2nd one and I was so excited to get that !!

An excellent addition to the series. I was so excited to get an ARC of this book because I absolutely loved the first two books in the series. One thing I love about this series is that Elira specifically doesn't provide you with a physical description of the characters allowing you to create them in your mind.

My heart broke so much for every character, the past trauma of potentially losing Oliver for Elliot and Rhett, Oliver willingly being a potential sacrifice to save Wren, and what Wren had to go through while being held captive. I love how much these four characters work together and the deep emotional connections they have.

I'd highly recommend this read, it's dark, spicy, and heartfelt. My only complaint about the book is that I want more haha! I can't wait for book 4 to see how their story continues to unfold.

As mentioned above, I did receive an ARC copy of this book but I am leaving this review completely voluntarily.

A huge thank you to the author for letting me be an ARC reader. Undying Resilience is book 3 of the Ruthless Desires series, a MMMF why choose dark romance. As always with books of this nature, please read all author's notes beforehand to avoid triggering content.

I'll always love all of Elira's books, but this series is my hands down favorite. However, like the three men in this series, I will never between you choose a favorite book in this series. They all have their own piece of the story but it just keeps getting better and better. The character development and growth in Undying Resilience brings you so much closer to Wren, Elliot, Rhett and Oliver. You get to learn more and more about who they are as people and watch their relationship with each other turn into something more and more beautiful. And, as always, there's plenty of spice ;) This latest installment of the Ruthless Desires series let's you see the characters in impossible situations that test their relationship but also all the amazing moments that bring them even closer together. You can't help but love them all!

I inhaled the first book of this series before I even knew it was being turned into a series and the hold it has had on me ever since is soooo real. So as to be expected, I read this book twice in less than 19 hours :) I cannot recommend this series enough.

A few things to love; first, the humor:

With a relieved sigh, she takes a sip of her coffee. “I want to talk to him beforehand. Alone.”
“No,” all three of us say at the same time.
“Jesus,” she mutters.

I think that covers it :)

Secondly, the rawness of the emotional, but the equality of it between all the characters. This author doesn't shy away from, and indeed excels at showing all the ranges of emotion in both our female lead and all three of her men. Elira's ability to make the characters feel like they're real humans out there in our world is honestly insanely brilliant.

And thirdly, the balance of it all. Are there dark moments? Yeah, this is a dark romance book, and there's a whole page of trigger warnings right at the beginning (please read this before the book - we stan a queen who cares about her reader's mental health and wellbeing). But for all the dark that comes out and the grey areas (or straight up black areas) that you come across, there's just as much light and happiness.

One of my favorite parts of Elira's books is she doesn't leave you destroyed at the end (just a few times throughout). You walk away with our little quad in a happy place.

But that doesn't mean you won't be begging (tehe) for the next one ❤️

Omg! This was such an amazing story.

I don’t even know how to explain all the things I felt during this book but damn, this series has become one of my favorite ones this year! I would highly recommend it.

The characters were so damn amazing. Ok there are some that I wish I could kill (might already be dead in the end👀) but the old ones like Rhett, Oliver and Elliot and wren, they are just so bloody amazing. And the sweetness they have for each other. We also see Rhett open up more which was so amazing and cute. Also some feeling has been confessed and even ‘I love You’ has been said (between who? Well you should read the book to find out 😉). I am also amazed about how ruthless the boys can be but how sweet and understanding they are against Wren. They gave her space when needed and the amount of things they do/did for her is just so mesmerizing (can I please have such a relationship? Maybe without all the killing and kidnapping 😂). I am also curious to see wren open up some more in the next book about her traumas and feelings and hopefully work though them.

I never felt so many emotions during a book. I wanted to scream at the boys to stop having sex and to find some damn service to unlock there phone to see what the hell is happening.
I am just amazed of how strong Wren has been during her pain and boy do I not like the new traumas that has been created. But I know my babies will come out of it strong.

The way this book ended? Boy I want the next book like yesterday!! I need to know how it continues and how wren is going to change because I have a feeling we have the queen in or middle why everyone is going to fear messing with👀.

This book is for 18+, it has a lot of sex scenes and some explicit sex scenes. There are also a lot of trigger warnings so make sure to check those out before reading. It’s a MMMF reverse harem.

This ARC has been provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. All these words and thoughts are my own.

I was chosen as an ARC reader for an honest review.

Straight up 5/5 stars! 100% a great read, as always from Elira.

This is book 3 in the Ruthless Desires series. It follows our main four: Wren, Elliot, Oliver, and Rhett through the 3rd week of their relationship.

Tensions rise and emotions flair as Wren finds herself in mortal danger and Oliver puts himself in harms way to speed up Wren's rescue. This is a darker read compared to the first two books. Triggers include, but not limited to: explicit consensual sex scenes, emotional/verbal abuse, depression, anxiety, physical abuse, murder, kidnapping, torture. The author provides a full rundown of the potential triggers at the start of the book. I have been reading dark material lately, so the content of this book did not bother me, but please take care of your mental health when embarking on this journey.

This book continues exposing the backstory of our leading Men; I'm always excited to learn more about Elliot, Oliver, and Rhett. And Oliver, stop putting yourself in danger like that!! You're going to give ME a heart attack! :D

Elira's writing is always a dream to read and Undying Resilience is no exception. As always consent and respect is top notch in this why choose/poly/found family. I typically swoon or squeal with excitement with how much our boys care for Wren and how much she cares for them.

Bonus points for me are proper use of lube in sexual encounters!

I cannot wait for the next three books in this series. I'm honoured I received an ARC and I will be grabbing this copy on paperback as soon as it's released! Once again, 5/5 stars!

Undying Resilience by Elira Firethorn 4.5 stars (this is my personal favourite RH)

-RH (polyamorous relationship, so they'reall involved)
-MMMF
-Short and Sipcy
-Great plot

This book is the third in the Ruthless Desires series. It’s a reverse harem where EVERYONE is a part of one relationship (MMMF). They are super short, super spicy and entertaining, the plot develops more and more in each book.

As Elira mentioned, this is the darkest book of them all because the characters go through difficult things throughout it. However the relationship between Elliott, Rhett, Oliver and Wren solidifies even more, they get to know each other a lot better and become even closer than before.

I think this book (and the series in general) is very well written. I enjoyed every second of it and I DEVOURED it.

Once again, Elira did not disappoint, the whole experience was amazing, she is an author that I genuinely love supporting and I hope this convinces you to read the series and to get to know these AMAZING characters.

(ARC Review)

I really enjoyed this installment of the ruthless desires series! I liked the ratio of spicy scenes to the plot; however, I wish the whole thing was longer. I realize that with the length of the book you can only fit so much in but I felt underwhelmed with how quickly things wrapped up. I almost wish there was more tension and danger with Wren's situation so that I could have a "butterflies in my stomach" sensation and lots of worry before the resolution.

I also really want more backstory on Wren, Ell, O, and Rhett. It feels like little nuggets get released in every book, so I feel like these character histories will be divulged at some point.

Overall, I will be continuing the series because I love the interaction between Wren and the guys. The support and respect exhibited are a pleasure to read. I can't wait to see what the next book brings.

Tropes: dark romance, MMFM (polyamory)

This is the third installment of Wren and her three guys - Oliver, Elliot and Rhett. I would highly recommend reading the first two before this one. These are not stand alone stories.

This book picks up right where book 2 ended. This one revolves around Wren and her kidnapping after the events of book 2. This one was definitely darker than the first two but still had so much heart. I love the relationship between all 4 people. I loved seeing Wren’s strength and the guys fighting to get her back and help her cope through trauma.

My only complaint is I need so much more!! I can’t wait for the next book!

ARC review - I was provided an ARC copy of this book for an honest review - Undying Resilience will be released on August 31st and is the 3rd book in the Ruthless Desires series

This book was amazing! My favorite of the series so far with a pretty equal balance of smutty scenes and actual plot.

As stated in the trigger warning page, this book is definitely the darkest of the series so far, but I wouldn’t consider it especially dark (on a scale of 1 to Hunting Adeline it’s maybe a 5). The dark scenes are written so you know exactly what’s happening and could picture it as mild or as dark as you want without overwhelming you with disturbing images.

As for characters, Oliver and Rhett take the cake on this one. There is something so beautiful about the way the author writes out their trauma and back stories, and every time we see a small peek inside the heads and hearts of these two it makes my heart melt. I love seeing the continuing development of this relationship as they figure out how their dynamic works.

So excited to see how to story continues and am on my way to reread all 3 books. Highly recommend!

The smut in this one is sooo good a solid 4.5/5 🌶️. The story itself is sort of giving a wattpad mafia romance but who am I to judge and also who am I kidding I did enjoy reading it and I love the way their relationship is heading. Seeing Wren step into her power is so hot! Absolutely love how she is slowly becoming more and more confident. And I love how all of them are just so protective of each other. The way the guys are trying their best to create a safe space is just a different level of hot

this book was a bit disappointing especially because the first 2 books were so good. the pacing of this one was a bit all over. the first 50% ish went way too fast while the other 50% was so slow. the first part definitely needed more time especially with all that was happening it just felt way too rushed. some little plotlines were also weird or unnecessary. overall it was good but definitely not the best

ARC REVIEW

Thank you Elira for sending me an ARC! I have no words to describe how I've grown to love these characters and this series. I absolutely loved this book! It was amazing that we got to know a little bit more about the guys' history. Also the book was fast paced but also detailed well which I love. I've waited for this story to continue since I read the first two books a few months ago and I can say that the wait was worth it! This book made go through an emotional rollercoaster but still loved every second of reading it.

This book was significantly darker than the first two. It also had significantly more plot. It was my first experience with dark romance, so I read the trigger warnings and lightly skimmed the potentially distressing parts. I still love these characters and watching their relationship deepen. And even though there was less s*x, it was still HOT!
