Caltopia is right through the door. Ancient oaths are knocking. A thunderous new vocabulary for answering.

Artorian wakes on a brand new planet, refreshed and ready to make some mischief now that he’s back in Cal’s soul space! Eternium is old news; in fact, now that Barry is completely forked, the curtains on Eternia’s Alpha have closed. Being awake has its upsides, but there are a few… concerns.

Cal, even unconscious, is pushing the boundaries of the double-S ranks. With oaths and promises in peril should he breach that rank before letting people live their lives, Artorian will hustle and bustle to lay the groundwork for mass-decanting. Surely nothing will go wrong.

Artorian must learn how to be a Mage again, and find his legs. There’s more running to do.

I've liked the others in this series, but this book spent essentially the entire book with some character or another monologueing, usually about game mechanics. Very little actually happened in the book, other than a large number of characters deciding that they were randomly going to change their names and one or two fights that alternately made Artorian seem impossibly powerful and impossibly under powered.

Ehhh... Book is mostly rambling about the same topics covered in earlier books, doesn't really add much to the overall plot.

Also... Why the do we keep changing names... Like... what's the point?

Not sure why the characters keep changing their names and making a big deal out of it - most of the book was training montage and nitty gritty character development until the very end with a huge battle with a big baddie.

Excessive puns, forced pop-culture references, mediocre plot

Enjoyed it for the background infos for Divine Dungeon and Completionist Chronicles, but the plot was not great, the puns were beyond excessive, and the references to pop-culture were frequent and glaringly forced:
(Spoilers ahead)
So the big baddy is after the MC but his stronger friends are busy with many other problems requiring them. |So this one problem absolutely must be classified as fit for the MC, even though it puts him and his loved ones in mortal danger. Really?
The resolution is a surprise appearance of a very strong friend of the MC to save the day... and put the baddy on house arrest for while.|

Half the book was spent on revisiting the MC's loved ones with sickeningly sweet scenes of unimportant stuff happening. While side-characters could be a good thing, there are just too many in this story for them to get any depth, so they are mostly all stereotypical anime personalities.

Also, somehow everyone in this story is good natured, affluent or lacking nothing, without worries or displeasures - except the foe, who is a stereotypical villain.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Acyrologia

Artorian is recovering from a pretty traumatic event. As he wakes up, he finds out what needs to be done and starts making his plans to see what needs to be done. New civilizations have been set up and people are all being decanted. To make matters worse, Odin has been out for quite a while and set up his civilization. He still hates Artorian too.

Book 10! It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 books already. This has been a fun series and this entry is no exception. Artorian continues to philosophize and grandpa his way through all problems. There are a few points where the cultivation philosophy gets a bit deep, but it immediately is applied in fun and entertaining ways. A lot more cultural references are snuck into the story in such a fun way. It is not uncommon to have a song stuck in your head after reading this one! As always, Travis Baldree is a blessing.

Content warning: none.

This is a combined review for Artorian's Archives #9, 10, and 11 as I read them back to back and it's all just starting to blur together for me anyways.

Is this series just one long string of pop-culture references haphazardly tied together with chewing gum? Seriously, 80% of the things that happen or the characters say seems to be a random reference of some kind. It's getting to the point that I'm beginning to suspect the 20% of original content is actually just pop-culture refences I don't get. The story is such a slog with very little happening most of the time. And the Meta aspects of it are getting worse, they're talking about things in terms of books and chapters now with unveiled allusions to the other books. And they think there are going to be HOW MANY of these? -_- I might have to abandon the series at this rate.

Nope!

I could not even finish this book. I loved the series up until book 9 and then was hoping book 10 would put it all back on track. It didn’t. The book was written with so many jabs at current world issues when it is supposed to be in an age where it hasn’t existed. The mechanics of the world is rewritten again…and just like book 9 the author just puts things in that don’t fit the rest of the series and glosses over it with “time” as the convenient reasons. I would just wait for the next book and skip this. There is no growth. MC gets to wake up and beat up previous ally turned bad guy due to his flaw of hubris. Cal wakes up suddenly to join in. If you are paying for this book and not on unlimited, my advice is don’t do it.

World breaking at its best

I meant world building. We finally get to see all of our non-Artorian faves again back in Cal! The arc in Eternal might be over, but the repercussions from that time are very much not. Hurt hubris hurts people. So it's a great thing that Love is here and heals so well.

Was going to do a 4 star but the mere density of pop culture refs and stanzas was a bit much Dennisssss ya gotta be careful

Overall a good entry after the last partial arc climax.

We see the resurgence of some.favorites and get even more info on some important background data. I loved the info on the towers :)

Travis delivered everything, even the puns, excellently

Was more like a .5 book where they explained a lot of what's going on and how things work and setting up stories for the future. I did thoroughly enjoy learning more about the world though.

Hooooboy

The metaphysics are getting harder and harder to follow. Which is the natural result of an ever increasing complexity. But boy if it doesn't give me a mental workout

Artorian in strife!

This book was great, it really showcased how artorian adapts under pressure. Truly a great transition in the overall narrative as well.

another awesome entry

This book will exceeded my expectations in continuing Artorians story. Loved the twists and turns and those pop culture references lol. Can’t wait for book 11.

It's a very pointless installment in an otherwise interesting series.

I've enjoyed the series to date, but this book rambles on in monologues without anyone doing anything other than changing names for no reason other than the author uses them as excuses to make modern and pop-culture references for no reason.

Naming an area after Rica? Randomly saying that the protagonist randomly names something that is a real-world name? The middle third of the book is completely useless. It's an author trying to be clever about things with no basis for doing so. P-A-I-N-F-U-L read and it only gets interesting again once things start happening around 70% of the way through the book.

I really honestly wanted to like this book but I'm really more surprised that I even finished it. I have enjoyed Artorians antics more or less for the last 9 books but I haven't often read a book that I think could be entirely skipped. The actual plot of this book could fill, at most, one chapter and the rest was just... so boring. I don't know if I'm going to continue with the series, that's how much I struggled with this one. Perhaps it would be better for people who are making their way through the series to just skip this one.
