This book is the perfect anticodote to every day struggle and gives you practices that are approachable and easy on the system which is important when everything just feels like too much.
While there were several great points I will walk away with from this book, it got to feeling a bit repetitive as each exercise was the same.
I also felt the author made clear her political opinions and it was a bit distracting didn’t feel very Buddha like during a chapter where she was talking about feeling love and compassion towards others with different views. Saying this as someone with similar political views as the author, just did not feel like those fit well with the book and energy I was looking for.
Brown keeps it very simple in this book, which is exactly what you need when you’re feeling overwhelmed. It’s just the right dose of support. The stories are all COVID specific, but the ideas and practices are universal.
This is a helpful book, with lots of reflections and contemplations for dealing with this very confusing world. Kimberly Brown has a compassionate but authentic voice -- she knows what she's talking about, from both experience and study, and she communicates it in an accessible and relatable way. This book blends real life and spiritual practice in a way that offers help in dealing with a confusing world.
