There is unseen God-given potential in every person. Few fully discover and fulfill it in their lifetime, but it doesn’t have to be this way. In From Your Biggest Fan , Jason shows us how we can cultivate our influence in the lives of those we love and lead and deploy it like Jesus would—for the benefit of everyone but ourselves.
Through powerful storytelling, a razor-sharp wit, and personal vulnerability, Jason lays out a new mindset that opens our eyes to the wonders woven into every person and candidly shares his own struggles with insecurity, negativity, and other obstacles that can rob us of the ability to champion those around us.
Helping others realize their God-given potential is easier than we imagine. With the simple habits provided in this book, we can become the biggest fans of our families, friends, staff, co-workers, and classmates, helping them discover their true worth and championing their God-given dreams.
As a first-time small group leader, I was really excited to read this book! I loved all the stories in it, and I appreciate how Jason mixed both stories from his personal life as well as historical accounts.
The only critique I can give is that at times the advice felt a little repetitive, and I felt that at times the application could have been deeper. However it was all really good, and I definitely want to strive to be people’s biggest fan!
Here is one of my favorite takeaways from each section (there are 3 sections): 1. Believe in people more than they believe in themselves. 2. Stop saying negative thoughts out loud, choose positivity, and see the beauty in the world. 3. Our relationships must begin with trust, not end with it. Trust is shown through giving people opportunities.

I really enjoyed the encouragement to live a leadership lifestyle that promotes others. The format of the book was a little challenging. Each chapter starts with a historical story (many of which seemed to be pulled from recent popular books Unbroken, Boys in the Boat, etc.) which at times made me feel like the insights weren't as compelling, but there were enough good nuggets that I would recommend a friend give it a few days as a reminder of WHY they lead.
I received this book at a conference. Jason is a terrific public speaker, so I was looking forward to reading. I loved the message of this book and found its contents challenging. Lots of takeaways. There was a lot of wit in the writing that left me cracking up. I think I would have preferred more present day examples and less jaunts through history. Some of the historical examples were very interesting and great "deliverers of points", but some seemed forced. This book wasn't groundbreaking for me, but one I can see myself returning to again because it's a topic I can grow in.
This is far from a typical leadership book. Jason challenges the reader to identify how they can discover the potential in others and help uncover it for them to see. Through historical and Biblical examples and tons of personal stories, Jason shows how this can be done in practical ways. His book gave me new perspective on how I interact with my coworkers, how I parent my children, and how I show up for my friends and family. Highly recommend this book.
