A woman who will do everything it takes to protect her children. A man that will stop at nothing to get back to his family. A love that transcends the chaos of the apocalypse...
Tessa's and Landon's epic journey is only just beginning after multiple CMEs and solar activity destroyed the power grid and changed life as we know it. Now they are thrust into a dangerous world where the true colors of human nature are revealed in the fight to stay alive.
Will they be able to make it to safety?
Or are sinister forces destined to keep them apart forever?
Almost There, book two in the Solar Burn Series, is an action-packed romantic adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world where society is breaking down and it's every man, or woman, for themselves. There are twists and turns around every bend and the punches just won't stop coming.
Loyalties are questioned. Strength is tested. And survival isn't guaranteed.
*3.5* I think this author has a lot of talent, and the series has potential. Like the first book, it's told in dual pov, alternating between Tessa and her husband Landon's voice. This is their continued struggle to find each other in a drastically changed world.
I love a good apocalypse story without zombies. It needs to be heavily character driven, have decent world building, realistic situations, and I always appreciate a love story to round it all out. I think the story did well with everything but a love story. Well, the love is there but zero steam because they are still separated!
I enjoyed my time reading it, but I'm a little frustrated as this is the second book with these two characters running around. They are surviving one difficult situation after another, but it didn't feel like it actually went anywhere.
Be prepared, this book ends with another cliffhanger!
I read this one in one sitting. Pretty much how I do all of Heather's books. This one was easy to do that start to finish with everything going. I swear my hear rate picked up in several places and I'm still riding a tad of that anxiety wave. Thanks for that!
This book continues of with Tessa and Landon's tale from a solar event that basically took out technology and made an apocalyptic world in short time.
I think one of the hardest parts of getting through this series is knowing the cities in the book. It makes it more relatable and I can very much see things playing out exactly this way. Looking forward to the next anxiety filling book!
I had been dying for this since book one ended and it seriously did not disappoint.
Tessa is just amazing! Heather had my heart in my throat a few times during this book with the situations Tessa, and Langton to an extend, find themselves in and I was just hooked.
Loved the dual POV and can't wait to see what happens next... no pressure at all Heather, I'll just be here waiting for book 3.... haha
So most sequels have the reputation of being fillers or having a lull....not this one. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Tessa is exactly who I envision myself being as a mom in the apocalypse. Strong, brave and will do anything to protect her kids. I can not wait for book 3. At least this one wasnt too bad of a cliff hanger lol
Heather. Heather, you always know how to tug at my heartstrings with whatever series it is you're writing. And boy, did this book do that.
I loved Tessa's mother instincts and her actually listening to her gut- always when it mattered most. I absolutely love her determination to get to where they need to go, to keep her family safe, and do the right thing along the way.
This is another multiple POV book, alternating between Tessa and her husband Landon as they try to navigate the ever-changing world around them and get back to each other. I love actually knowing what's happening with Landon instead of it being up to Tessa's imagination.
As always, this one ends on a cliffhanger, which makes me that much more excited for the 3rd one to come out, I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on it.
Omg loved, the acronyms were a little easier this time so thanks for the hints on tiktok. I totally wasn’t expecting that climatic scene towards the end with Tessa. My god! Can’t wait for the next one!
This whole series so far is very good. It is the type that you can’t put down and then all of a sudden it’s 3 o’clock in the morning and you have to be up by 7am. So needless to say, I’m on my way to book 3.
This series gets better and better. Although the things these people have to do to survive is heartbreaking. Tessa would do ANYTHING to protect her kids, and also her friend Robin, and her dog Moose (who also protects his family). Landon finds out Tessa has left with the kids and Robin to drive to her father’s house, after losing hope of Landon’s return and the threats she’s dealing with in her own neighborhood. Landon is willing to throw his military career out the door in order to go find his family.
It’s very emotional, lots of crazy action with bad people, and total anarchy with no governmental aide. A total apocalyptic world. I need to go read book 3 now!!!
This is a perfect second book. It was well written and there is plenty of action. I am loving Tessa and Landon. I'm not always a fan of more than one POV but getting both stories is awesome. I cannot wait to get my hands on book three!
Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
WOW!!!! This is a really great series! I’ve read Book #1 (yesterday) and here it is12:13 am tomorrow and I just finished Book #2!!!! I a little nervous as I’m not sure Book #3 is out yet and I have got to get it! Heather Carson! You are an amazing writer!
I read this story pretty quickly. It is a good story, with some suspense and very little swearing. The ending was a little surprising and I am wondering where the author is going to take the story?
This was the second book in the Solar Burn series, and it was fantastic! The way the story is written makes you feel like you are there with our main characters, Tessa and Landon. This book picks off where the other leave off and you feel like are running toward safety. I definitely did not see the plot twist/cliffhanger at the end. So frustrated I have to wait till November to see what happens next. Heather is definitely one of my favorite dystopian/post-apocalyptic writers. I will read anything she writes.
On to book 3… I usually don’t like book series, but this one is easy to follow, not too many characters to keep up with. Love Tessa and Landon’s story.
