Don’t ask me how I got here, I don’t want to lie to you.

I’m not a worldly woman.
I’m not cultured, well-traveled or well educated.
I’m just a housewife. A mother.
I’m the woman with the handsome husband, beautiful daughter, the large house.
If you saw it from the outside, you’d probably think I have the perfect life.
You would most definitely be wrong.
But I don’t blame you. We all see what we want to see, turning a blind eye to what others want to stay hidden.
Especially when it comes to love.
They say love is blind.
But I’m more apt to say it’s wretched.
Love is what made me stay.
But love is also what saved me.
When I found him.
The outlaw who saved my life without knowing it.
Until he found out the truth.

Finding writing about alpha males and happily ever afters more fun than reading about them, Anne is not about to stop any time soon.

Nothing here to see folks
Let's move along
Same old same old

A woman running from her 18 years of physically abusive husband who likes to practice boxing on her throws herself on the first man that shows her attention and allows him to flogg her !!!!!!!!!!! Because sex heals all as long as it's consented 🙄🙄😒😒

And this is an MC romance but 90% told from the FM pov and very rarely to see the MC life

I used to really like this author with her early work then I found that all her stories felt like the characters were basically repeated, all having demons being too dark to function.
As a result I haven't really read this author's work for some time.

I really liked parts of this.

Dual POV.
At the start we see the heroine in her so called perfect life and there is a brief scene where her husband punches her in the stomach for not towing the line.

The Hero meanwhile wakes in bed with a random woman, he makes her leave.

There are no scenes of him with anyone other than the heroine but he talks about having a reputation for not being with the same woman twice, all the club girls are eyeing him up etc etc.
I almost gave up at this point.

The story starts 3 weeks after that, the heroine is on the run and the Hero is bored with his life, the impression is given he's not been with anyone since the first scene in the book.

I was a bit unsure about a beaten wife liking some of the things they do together but this is supposedly some of his darkness.
He does have demons, like previous author's work but it works better in this book, or maybe it's because I've taken a break from her books for a while, I'm not sure.

The storyline is good, well written.
Once he meets the heroine, the Hero is pretty much gone for her, he is all about her, not a ONS or a hookup he's building a future.
He is very sweet and amazing in the last quarter of the book, particularly with her daughter.

Girl posse.
Small ex drama with the ex.
Some violence but not really portrayed.

HEA.
Epilogue.
Marriage, baby.

Huge breadcrumbs dropped for what I assume will be the next book at the end.

It's ridiculously bad but also good .. one of those reads you can't stop reading .. it brought me back to the times when I read a lot of MC books and enjoyed them...

I can definitely feel the annoyance brewing about sexual healing the heroine gets after escaping years of domestic abuse.. there is nothing, and I mean nothing some BDSM can not heal.. am I right or am I right... clearly I am being sarcastic...

I am contuining the series ... this is my first foray into this authors writing so far not impressed...

Storyline was very promising, but a lot of things didnt make sense to me…
And there is something about reading the words “badass” and “alpha male biker”, every few chapters, that gives me the ICK

5 WRETCHED LOVE STARS!! ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS THIS YEAR!! This author's writing can take something ugly and turn it beautiful. This story was hard and ugly, but became a beautiful swan. What a great start to a new series and I can't wait for more, these characters are everything.

The New Mexico SOT, and their women, are back and I couldn't be happier!! Wretched Love is a special book from start to finish, and I fell in love immediately.

Swiss and Kate are a gorgeous couple, their strength together is amazing and their attraction to each other - even at the very beginning - is so SUPER SEXY!! I love how they set aside everything to be together, suddenly Swiss doesn't even want to go on a voluntary run, he just wants to spend time with his woman.

Kate is living a miserable life, trapped in a situation she believes there to be no coming back from, until one day one of her husband's cronies makes it substantially worse by telling her what her husband has in store for her. Suddenly Kate is gone, and she knows there's no coming back from that. How would she explain being an hour late, and without the dry cleaning, much less from three hours away?

I love Kate's fire! Once she makes up her mind what she is going to do, her fire may come in fits and spurts at first - but each is beautiful! I love her need to do her own thing, and when she finally decides what she'd like to do no one is going to stop her!

Swiss is absolute sex on a stick! My version of perfection anyway: everything about him - from his need to Dominate in bed, his absolute love for Kate, each and every part of her, all of it turned me on. I could imagine how HOT and safe he made Kate feel every time he gave her another part of himself, and asked her to trust him with all of her damaged parts. I love, LOVE that he knew as soon as he saw her, Kate was the one for him. *SWOON*

Being back in the New Mexico chapter of the SOT, I just felt back at home. I love all the side characters and Kate's daughter, Violet, is as sweet as you please, but definitely not a doormat. The best parts of Anne Malcom's books - if you're looking for doormats, you won't find them here! All these women have been through so much they know how to get what they want, even if asking isn't really an option right this minute! Anne's women are Queens whether they've come to know that about themselves yet or not, and their men are the BEST kind of King you could ever ask for!

I love the emotion, angst, darkness and passion available in everyone of Anne Malcom's books, even up to the very end there's angst, and the knowledge it's going to follow her into the next book! I cannot WAIT to see what she does next with New Mexico Sons of Templar!

Totally obsessed with the start of this new subseries! After already being obsessed with the original Sons of Templar MC series, I was so excited that after getting to know a little of the New Mexico chapter that Anne was going to give them their own series, and this first installment did not disappoint! Kate has the perfect life, marriage, and family on the outside, but behind closed doors we see that she’s severely abused, until one day it goes too far, and she can’t find a way to keep things the way they are, and she runs away, knowing the day would finally come. After bouncing around she ends up in New Mexico and at a MC party, and when Swiss sees her, it’s the end for them both. Swiss has been a nomad after a tragedy in his past life, and he vows to never settle down, until he can’t keep away from Kate. As he gets to know Kate more and her past, he falls more for her, and then when her past comes to haunt her, he reacts as one would expect, immediately regrets it, and then comes to the rescue. I loved these two together, and I couldn’t put the book down and ended up reading all at once! I can’t wait to see who’s next from this chapter, especially after the cliffhanger with Kate’s daughter!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book is everything you’ve ever wanted in a romance, especially a romance with a bad boy. But honestly, it’s much more than that. It’s beautifully written and heartbreakingly lovely. Kate is a house wife that appears to have the perfect life of wealth and a happy family - but we all know that things often lurk below surface prettiness. Swiss is a man who lost everything when very young and has numerous (bloody) demons. These two meet and it’s fantastic. These action, tons of angst, love, and family. It’s truly one of my top 5 favorite books. I cannot wait for more in this MC chapter.

I’ve always enjoyed the woman on the run plot. This woman though did her running on impulse! No real plan. Just up and took off. Then realized she could be tracked. Then sold her car, some jewels and got a little serious about her disappearing act. She disappeared right into the bed of Swiss (road name unexplained). Swiss likes to tie up women, gets bored with them quickly and moves on. No one sleeps overnight! Kate has no insight into this life at all. She has been with the same guy her abuser for eighteen years and is taking the opportunity while her daughter is away to run away from her husband.

She keeps this secret. It wouldn’t have been hard for Swiss to check. Surely they do background checks on prospective partners? His reaction to the truth was costly to Kate but brought them closer at the same time. I enjoyed his banter with her. I enjoyed their maturity in dealing with things which is why Prescott coming to visit was out of character for Swiss in his reaction. We didnt really get the backstory on why he felt that way just a gist that he thought he was being used. She should really have said something but he seemed so intuitive to her.

This was a great read. I am looking forward to reading book two which seems it’s gonna be the daughter with the cranky guy in the club 🙃

Kate has had her life go from bad to worse. She married the man she thought was her knight in shining armor but he turned out to be he worst nightmare. If it was not for her daughter, she would have run long ago. With her daughter abroad though Kate decides it is time for her to run and find her do all the things she only dreamed of. She never expected to catch the eye of Swiss, a biker from the Sons of Templer MC. She thinks it is a one night stand, Swiss sees this as a new beginning.

Swiss is the man you do not want to cross, his life has been brutal and he has had no interest in a woman for more then one night. When he sees Kate he knows she is his game changer. It is not smooth sailing as they begin to learn about one another, but Swiss will keep Kate safe and protected no matter what. What happens though when her past comes back to haunt her will Swiss still want her?

I read this one in one sitting. The story pulls you in and even though there is a moment where you are saying why with Kate, you also get it. Swiss is dark, kinky and pure alpha male. It was terrific seeing him light up with Kate. Enjoyed every moment of this one.

If you are looking for an excellent, triggery romance, Wretched Love does not disappoint. Swiss is the quintessential semi-broken Alpha anti-hero looking for solace in his own "Wretched" way. And Kate is just trying to make it, survive, and thrive. Together, they are quite the perfect match. If you enjoy intelligent, entertaining storylines, with sexy heroes, smart heroines, just enough delicious Dark to keep you reading, an MC trope, and off the charts steam, Wretched Love will satisfy and leave you wanting more! I can't what for the next book featuring this Chapter of the Sons of Templar! 5 Stars!

One thing that I can always count on from this author is her ability to transport me from whatever it is that I am going through to a place that distracts me and gives me respite from the myriad of emotions that I am currently undergoing. That was especially true with this book. Anything that this author writes somehow soothes my soul and gives me something to focus on instead of what is happening in my real life.

Sons of Templar and Greenstone Security are my comfort. Which in itself, is ironic, being that they are not necessarily above the law. They are gritty and this author doesn't hide that life itself can sometimes get ugly. Perhaps, that is why this book, in particular, stood out for me. I have loved all the characters in this interconnected world. I was sad that the original series was over because to me, these characters were real and were my friends. So, imagine my surprise that the author was introducing another charter of this club. I was worried wondering if these characters would be able to live up to the originals. I need not have worried because they were just as, if not more so at times, better than the main crew.

Smith and Kate were so beautifully broken. They were a reminder that not everything that glitters is gold. From the opening scene, I was holding my chest. The life that Kate was living was heartbreaking. Yet, somehow, as awful as it was, it set her on a course that led her to Smith. The whole time I was watching Kate and Smith grow with each other, I kept having Garth Brooks's song, The Dance, play out in my head. " I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance." What a travesty that would have been because the beauty of these two connecting was truly that powerful. Kate deserved every ounce of that beautiful bounty because other than her daughter, Violet, her life had been hell. Smith had his own baggage so he, too, deserved something that was as beautiful as their love was.

There are a few scenes that broke my heart. In some cases, these types of scenes are just there as a plot device. However, even though this was a plot device also, it did serve a purpose. The author handled it with care and grace. It discussed a topic that needs more exposure, especially in today's world. Even if it is not something that is talked about, it still happens, at a frequency that most do not like to think about because it makes them uncomfortable. So often, people make excuses as to why someone like Kate didn't do something. However, this author explained that in such a way that makes it all make sense. The sacrifices that people make for their kids are truly astounding and are proof of why a mother's love is unconditional.

I am excited to see where this new chapter goes. The ending of this book that leads to where the author intends to go next? Yeah, just take my money. Highly recommend this author and anything that she writes. This is a great book to start with if the original Sons of Templar series are too daunting of a task to start. It is new characters and charter, and it gives you the same feeling that the other guys had. It is gritty. This is not a legal law-abiding MC. Yet, don't let that deter you from reading because these guys have a moral compass that more people, especially those in a position of power today, need to have.

Well done, Ms. Malcom. Thank you again for always being able to soothe the wounds of real life by giving me an outlet to pause things like grief.

this was your typical mafia novel of a woman running from an abusive ex and a mc man saving her, except there was no angst or build up or even tension within the plot. the two main characters immediately (i mean ten seconds after they met) got together and weirdly, the fmc was more than happy to be tossed around and harmed by him - i hate this trope so much in books, because what do you mean she was abused for 18 YEARS and has zero ptsd or trauma? no. be so fr. i can believe a lot of things in books but this is so silly and makes no sense.

the plot was non-existent. literally back to back smut, smut and you guessed it, more smut. i don't give a damn about that give me tension! give me interesting stories! give me fun side characters! these two were just wrapped up in each other and god damn i was tiredddd of them all over each other every chapter.

the whole husband finding her plot was also done so badly. he literally turned up, she followed him, she got beaten to within an inch of her life... and that's it. no therapy, no conversations about it, no resolved plot. and the stupid woman literally said she didn't want him dead? are you OKAY? he poses a threat to her, her daughter and so many women and she just let him walk away. oh, but if it's any consolation, he hung himself at the end?? we never see why, or how, or the events that lead up to it, but more importantly, why big up his character so much for him to literally try to get her back once and then of himself? gosh. this just felt like lazy writing.

also her daughter... an 18 year old hooking up with her professor and then being with an mc guy DOUBLE HER AGE and pregnant? someone tell authors it's okay to age up their characters for the love of god, 18 is such a weird age to choose. pick 19! or 20! it literally makes no difference.

will not be continuing the series.
2 stars and that was for the somewhat cute moments.

***5 Stars***

Brutal, yet beautiful.

Those were the words that were swirling around in my head towards the end of this book, and while they don’t really come close to all the emotions that this book pulled out of me ~ because, lemme tell you, this baby definitely pulled at all kinds of strings ~ it does boil it all down to the simplest way for me to describe the experience.

I gotta say, Kate and Swiss were kind of everything for me. Kate is strong. I mean the woman was stuck in a situation no one should be in and finally decided she’d had enough and broke free. It was awesome to watch her figure out who she wanted to be on her own terms and own it. Swiss may be a biker with a penchant for the depraved, but he has a protective streak a mile wide and a chivalrous side that drew me in.

Their journey to their HEA definitely started off with a bang and though things did move quickly, I thoroughly enjoyed it all. They had undeniable chemistry from the start and as they continued to spend time together, it became more. They had a flow that made it seem like they’d known each other for years. Their bantering was a lot of fun, but what I enjoyed the most was how they communicated with each other and just enjoyed being together. The big ‘ole road block in their journey wasn’t a surprise, but what happened after was intense. Very intense. But I liked how everything worked out for them in the end.

Despite the triggers ~ and there are triggers in a big way (reader beware) it was a lot of fun to hangout in the Sons of Templar world again. There are some people/couples in this chapter that everyone will know and love (I must admit to only “knowing” two of the people since I came into this world after a few books were already out and have not read them yet) and a slew of newbies who I’m all in for learning more about especially Violet, Colby, Lucas, Elden and Blade. And after what went down in the epilogue…alls I can say, is bring on the next book!

Welcome to the of the Sons of Templar MC in Garnett, New Mexico! I can honestly say I was excited to start a new charter and I wasn’t disappointed because these characters are amazing, and not just the lead ones, Swiss and Kate, but the secondary ones too. I look forward to getting to know more and more about each character, especially Violet.

This story has some very serious elements that connect to the MC in a way but aren’t focused solely around the club and I quite liked that orientation for a change. The club does show its loyalty and support, though, and the familial feeling Kate gets is like a wonderful gift. I like Kate and although it can be argued that she was weak, she called herself that enough in the book 🥺, I don’t see her that way at all. Quite the opposite, I admire her determination and strength to protect those she loves. Swiss comes across as a gruff, aggressive alpha male and he is but that is only one layer. I really like him too and the more I read the more I like, I especially like how he can admit to being wrong—something a lot of males have trouble doing.

There is so much that happens in this story that you find yourself going on an exciting adventure along with Kate and Swiss. The fabulous descriptions make it easy to visualise each scene, they are written so well that you feel like you are there within the pages of the book. I totally recommend this story to everyone.

Before I say anything, I’m going to start with check the trigger list. The book’s description doesn’t give the biggest one that plays such a huge part in the book. It also is one I hate to see a fellow woman go into a spiral over because I recommend this book. So as a girl’s girl, I will throw it in my review. If that upsets people, so be it. I will always care about people’s mental health first. It is DV. So if that is something that triggers you, this book may not be for you. If not, continue reading the triggers and enjoy this book because it’s actually a really good book. This book is a motorcycle club themed, which is always fun. We know we are going to get a bad boy. This book is emotional. It did make me teary eyed often, if I’m honest. The romance is definitely angsty AF. The book is spicy too. I know I gave it a 3, but it’s more like a 3.5. Remember I said the book is an MC. So think Sons of Anarchy type of “vibes” in terms of following societal rules. That is the vibe of the book anyways, if I’m honest. I did listen to the audiobook while reading along. Loved the narrators. I think they did a great job.

This contemporary romance is book 1 in The Sons of Templar MC - New Mexico series. The romance in this book is a second chance romance. The book is spicy with descriptive open door spicy scenes. Kate’s life looks perfect from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. A golden cage is still a cage. When she gets the chance to flee, she does, and flees right into Swiss town. Swiss knows this time is different. She makes him feel things he shouldn’t, and saving her was all he could do.

I had a lot of feelings with this book. Shock, anger, happiness, empowerment, blind rage, lol literally all of it. And while there were some parts I had to physically set the book down and walk away for a breather.. that’s why I loved it all the more! When an author can make you feel everything for these characters at once, you know they are amazing and worthwhile books, and Anne Malcom is the Queen of this!

I absolutely loved watching Kate find herself after a lifetime of never getting a choice in anything. She really is one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read.

Swiss is a sexy, possessive, badass biker 🏍️ and I’m entirely here for it! His passion to his club, his woman and his kinks 😉 😉 ugh just allll of it!

I will immediately be reading Wilting Violets 💜

Wow! This book is so utterly fantastic! It is so great to be bad in the Sons world again. It is tragically beautiful what both Kate and Swiss went through. I absolutely loved that once Swiss saw her, that was it for him. I loved that everything Kate did was for her daughter, Violet. This book has it all tragic parts, steaminess, romance, and suspense. I would suggest you read Hansen, jagger, Scarlett and Hades books to get the back story of this chapter. But you don’t have to. I can’t wait to read more from this chapter. Is Elden and Violet next? How will Swiss react?

Damn this woman sure can write a story. One that draws you in and absolutely will not let you go.

So first off this is a addition to the Sons of Templar series by Anne. Which if you have not read, please do so. It is an amazing series. This one focuses on Kate and Swiss.

It shows their journey which is a somewhat rough one. It's emotional, so yeah have some tissues ready. I swear Anne can write about what feels so very real. Always cutting to the heart. Like most of Anne's stories this one is going to touch a cord somewhere in you. You can relate to something in here.

Overall Kate and Swiss are what you need and you did not even realize it. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
