A relationship was the furthest thing on Johari Steele’s radar. The single father was only concerned with raising his child and growing his dispensary business. He had his share of meaningless flings but his interest in taking things seriously seems to change when he meets wedding planner Mahogany Rose.
What starts off as a simple sneaky link quickly changes when feelings between these two come to the forefront, and they realize casual sex is not the only thing they want to experience with each other. Despite having fun with no strings attached, Johari feels something for Mahogany that he hasn’t felt in years… Something he hasn’t felt since the passing of his child’s mother.
When the idea of dating with a purpose becomes Johari and Mahogany’s end goal, a blast from Johari’s past makes herself relevant to his present. Will her pop-up mess up everything he’s been set into place with Mahogany, or will the desire to be with the woman who stole his heart, beat out a little thing called history?

Ms. Monae, thank you for sharing Johari and Mahogany's story with us. I was anticipating reading about them when I read "My Heart to Yours." It was as if they were destined to be together since Kamari and Lola started their thing. They were already familiar with each other so why not start a whirlwind romance. Mahogany eased right into Johari's little family. She became the unspoken "mother figure" for Zakari. I loved how she just spit out instructions for Johari when Zaraki was sick. It was as if her motherly instincts immediately kicked in. Johari and Mahogany had only one bump in their relationship. Mahogany smoothed it out once she got her footing on the whole situation.
This is another one of those feel-good reads with a pinch of melodrama. It was just enough to keep the story flowing. Johari and Mahogany were made for each other. They formed an instant family. Ms. Monae thanks for throwing the crew in the mix. It is always good to get updates and see everyone's relationships flourishing. I am looking forward to what you will release next. If you haven't read "My Heart to Yours" read it first and then indulge in this book. You will be happy that you did.
Mahogany was caring, selfless and the perfect partner for Johari. She added to Johari and Zakari’s life, it was refreshing to see how her actions clearly showed her love and care for them. I liked how the author showed the authenticity of their relationship and a healthy and genuine relationship with a widow/step-parent, life and love afterwards. This is a must read, alluring sex scenes and displays of love, as well as a bit of drama. Carla, really?! Always a delusional person 😆
I read this story about Johari Steele and Mahogany 🌹 in one day. He's a single dad with a 9 yo son. She is a single and free woman periodtt...lol! Both are independent business owners. So after a tryst at her sisters wedding, things turn serious between them.
There were plenty of comical moments in this 📖. I enjoyed reading it. A first time read for me by author Monae Nichole. I plan to read more of her work in the future.
What can I say.. Monae honey you wrote this book!! I love me some Johari and Mahogany they fit each other!! And my man Zakari too sweet and adorable.. It was a vibe with them I love how she would go to his shop and help out and help out Z too.. the drama is there and whew Chileeeeeee is it there!! They had some bumps in the road but what relationship doesn’t.. that scene had me in tears but it was worth it!! I love seeing my other family and catching up with them!! Read this book you won’t be disappointed!!!! Monae Nicole Girllllllll Yessssss keep writing!!!
I just love black love. This book had so many examples of refreshing black love 🥰 Mahogany and Jo really fit well together. Why am I so happy for Lil Z like these are real people! 😂 Great read!
I was looking forward to Mahogany and Johari's story. I love that even though this was centered on them, it gave us plenty of updates on Lola and Kamaris' relationship. I loved it all.
I was rooting for Johari. To loose a love is hard, yet he had his son that he has to console too, so I admired his strength through those dark times. I'm glad he opened his heart to love again, all while keeping his son, Zakari, best interest at heart as well.
The whole situation with his screw buddy Carla was pretty bizarre. Not only was it just physical between them, but they hadn't been together in months when she decided to profess her love for him and try to mess up things with Mahogany. I was upset that Mahogany let that push herself away from Johari and Zakari; they didn't deserve that. Either way, I'm glad all of it came to a head with Carla and she moved on😒.
Mahogany was a sweetheart. I loved her and Lola's relationship and how close sisters they were. Having their own wedding planner business kept them close, yet still allowed for them to have their own lives. Lola was super sweet and I'm glad she's truly happy with Kamari bc he was a butthole a first 🙄. He truly came around and I love that Mahogany was able to help these two lovebirds along the way.
I wasn't quite sure why Mahogany was so off/on with Johari, yet he was the same way, so 🤷🏾♀️. I'm glad they finally saw that there was more to their relationship than just the physical. I really love them together and hope we see more of them in other books.
It was good to see the progress from the whole gang. These are a group of people that you just want to see win and even through their trials, they persevered.
This was a really good second story to a good series. The writer gives us just enough drama to wet your appetite. The chemistry between the two main characters is so relaxed, that it comes.off effortless. We get to see the growing friendship into a relationship and its done with the right amount of the adult and the sexy. Overall really entertaining and fun, just enough not to make it an sappy lovestory.
I enjoyed reading Mahogany and Johari’s love story. I was like I know Mahogany not going to let Carla’s delusions come in between her and Johari. I love the bond that Mahogany has with Zakari and that he welcomed having her as a mother figure. Mahogany was very sweet and thoughtful to have a remembrance birthday celebration for Monique for Johari and Zakari. I love babies and the fact that they’re having their very own baby girl.
Johair and Mahogany are too cute. Okay so Johair was that dude I loved their chemistry, it didn’t seemed forced or drawn out and I loved that. I wanted to scream girl go get your man Mahogany when that old lady Carla came around. Just crazy for no reason, and it’s woman in real life like this simple stupid smh! This was another great story from Monae!
idk a lot of it felt rushed and like we skipped over stuff, i normally don’t care about instalove in fact i prefer it but this wasn’t even an insta love situation just a whole bunch of “a few weeks” “some months” etc i didn’t really feel a connection to the characters ig. Over all i still liked it.
I liked the characters were strong and yet drawn to each other from the very start of the bachelor party. Mahagony loved hard and Johari was a widower who felt the great loss of a wife he'd loved age thought he'd be with forever. Would definitely recommend to my sisters. Loved the author realities in the story, very relatable.
I am loving these characters and their Journey to love. With the drama coming from someone from the past almost put an end to a budding relationship. A good read that I really enjoyed.
I loved this, the love between Johari and Mahogany was awesome. Loved how being a single dad he always put his son first. Carla was crazy she needed some serious help. Kudos to the author👏👏👏👏
This was quick good read Mahogany and Jahari were cute together then Zahari just made them sweeter Now the unnecessary drama with Carla was stupid she new Jahari didn’t want her….. this was well written with just enough to keep you turning the page
This was such a sweet story. I enjoyed Mahogany and Johari's love story. Johari was such a devoted dad to his son. After so much loss in his life I was happy to see him find love with Mahogany. It was a pleasure reading your book 🥰.
Who doesn’t love a good love story with a lil drama? Black love is the best! Jahari chasing Mahogany was cute and let’s not leave out Zahari. The siblings helped these two get it together! Cute story.
Loved this book as the continuation of the previous one with Kamari and Lola but with their siblings Jo-Jo and Mahogany. They had just a touch of drama with Carla but I am glad their love prevailed. Cherished by a Rose was a good read and loved it from start to finish.
All I just love how mahogany and jo-jo story develops. Man I swear I wanted to at Carla old behind with a bat. Can’t believe at her age she was acting like
JoJo and Mahogany did not think just kicking it was all that was going to happen but fate had a different plan , I loved the way she loved Z too. Carla was a piece of work I thought she was a nut but found out she was😄😄 , can't wait to hear from the crew again.
Loved this book and the insta love connection between the 2. I also loved the vibe between Mahogany and Z. Even before knowing Jo-Jo, she had a motherly love for him.
“Cherished by a Rose” was a great read and a continuation of couples friends to lover journey. Mahogany & Johari’s story and the progression of their romance/family was adorable 🥰 to witness. However, there’s always a thorn to ruin a beautiful bouquet…Crazy (delusional)Carla! This chic 🤦🏾♀️🤨..could benefit from a Paxil drip & extensive inpatient therapy‼️Note to Carla: romantic relationships are typically mutual, reciprocal accompanied by public affirmations of unity. Accept the arrangement with Johari for what it was an acquaintanceship with limited/specified benefits. …Move on & Seek help! Thereafter, other than that brief distraction, Mahogany & Johari make a great couple!
