DI Stewart Gardener and Detective Sergeant Sean Reilly face one of their most disturbing cases yet when a corpse is discovered in a disused property.

It’s unrecognizable. Abominable. Frozen body parts belonging to four people have been sewn together as one.

In the mouth is a chess piece. Next to the body, a cryptic message about a girl.

The detectives must quickly try to make sense of the scene, trace the victims and bring a sick mind to book.

But maybe the killer has other ideas…

This is a terrific book from Ray Clarke. I knew as soon as I started it that it would be a cracker, and I wasn't disappointed! I can't give too much away, but if you like an intriguing plot; believable characters and lots of twists in the story, then this one is for you.

Highly recommended.

Frankenstein’s Monsters!

Well, what can one say? This certainly wasn’t one for the faint hearted. Action from the very beginning and right through to the end. Stewart and his team worked tirelessly on this case, following clues left by the killer as well as using their own instincts. A sad story but the law cannot be taken into your own hands. But if the law has conspired against you, isn’t that exactly what you’d do? A brilliant book and a must read, if you have the stomach!

Another amazing story.

As usual we get the incredible twists and turns to solve a mystery. A dead body which has been stitched together from four victims start appearing with no apparent links which really taxes the team with Gardener leading. Tenuous links start to eventually appear as well as a number of susoects.
A well crafted novel as expected from the author.

A murder story

The story was really a mystery with the dead bodies being found and the police could not understand how many bodies put together to make one. Sad but interesting reading.

Excellent read, gripping from beginning to shocking end

I like how the author writes, a long struggling investigation, many puzzles to keep you interested (and clueless) and suddenly all the pieces fit.

This was the best one - the clues were there but I just didn't see them and it was a good ending!!

Classic

Unputdownable yet again. I've got my favourite authors like Rankin, Child, Deaver, Baldacci and others, but Ray Clark is fast approaching and going to overtake them soon!

A corpse is discovered but it is made up of four different bodies. Then another corpse is found, with the same four body parts. Each body with a note with details of a missing girl. But why and by whom. DI Stewart Gardener and his team investigate.
An entertaining modern mystery.
