Do you ever get a second chance at a first impression? And do opposites really attract? Sonia transferred in from a charter school and the other teachers at Central have conflicting opinions of the attractive young woman. But she’s not the only one who’s hiding her true personality. Maybe Terrence’s annoying comments conceal a shy, tender man. Or maybe it’s the rigid German teacher who’s a softy underneath. Both men are interested in her. And then, there’s the mystery man. Perhaps he’s her soulmate.
Find out who her surprise love is in book 2, Sonia’s Secret Someone.
Will things progress from graduation gowns to wedding gowns? Well … not exactly.
I thought Lee was a fussy old man from the way he was described in the previous book, but he’s really someone who puts up walls and hides behind other personas to keep himself from being hurt. Sonia likes the guy she met at a Halloween party and she thinks she’s figured out who is behind in the costume, but he keeps changing the person he shows her, so who is he really? There were a lot of second guessing and misunderstandings that results in hurt feelings and lack of communication. If they had both been more open they could have overcome their troubles sooner, but it did add drama to the story. I loved that Lee volunteered as Santa and his spunky lovable dog Duke.
Sonia's Secret Someone by Debra Chapoton is fabulous read. It’s a beautiful story with wonderful characters. It’s well written and keeps you turning the pages.
This is the second installment of the Second Chance Teacher Romance series. I read the first book and enjoyed it and did not hesitate to pick this one up. I was not disappointed! We met Sonia and Lee in Book 1 and now this is their story. It is an entertaining and enjoyable story with lovely characters. I was engaged from beginning to end and am happy to have had the opportunity to read it. This is a lovely series and am hoping to read more!

This is a second book in the second chance teacher romance series and it focuses on Sonia and Lee's story. We see them as characters in the first book in the series and they now have their own story to tell.
I got a weird feeling at the beginning of this story when I realized that Lee would be the main love interest as he's described in the first book as being older, mid-fifties (ish) and sonia is in her late 20s. While that's not unheard of, it can create an ick factor to the story. Seeing as these stories are clean christian romances, I was glad that the discrepancy of his age is resolved fairly early on in the book.
Sonia teaches the reader why you shouldn't automatically delete voice mail messages without listening to them and why sometimes answering an unknown caller on your phone is a good thing. A lot of missed months of being together could have been resolved had the communication issue been addressed by either of the characters earlier.
I loved the absolutely giving and selfless nature of Lee. What he does for children and his community, especially during the holiday season, was one of the most touching scenes I've ever read in a book. Anybody could see what a complete catch this man was and how he'd never stop loving or supporting you throughout a marriage with him. His backstory, while briefly touched upon, is rather tragic and just makes him an even better man for it.
Looking forward to reading future books in this series.

Debra has written an extra special romance book you will want to read and fall in love with. I felt like Lee and Sonia really made me think about love and second chances. Debra writes some of the very best sweet and clean romance books that keeps you reading and reading from start to finish.
For the first half of this book I wasn't sure about the main character, Lee. He came across as creepy! It was not an enjoyable read. At the start of the book, it states he is resistant to attending church and again closer to Christmas Eve. No mention of him attending church until a colleague's wedding and yet at the end he gives his newlywed wife a bible with a specific verse bookmarked. Does not seem believable. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Christian standalone romance interconnected series HEA
Sonia and Lee are both teachers at the same school. He has created a persona as a way to protect himself, but causes most of his coworkers to think the worst. Sonia discovers the man behind the mask. Can they become friends or maybe even more? Why does he pretend to be someone he's not? Will they get past the misunderstandings before it's too late?
I received an ARC copy from the author via Story Origin. Review voluntarily given.
