Nate Ridgeway does an excellent job bringing his content knowledge, teaching experience and technology driven methods into play with his book Breaking the Blockbuster model. Frequently teachers stress the importance of hands on learning, innovative teaching methods and technology driven lessons - leaving out the necessity for some lessons to have background knowledge. Nate does an excellent job at giving ideas and examples for how to make that happy medium ground and how to renovate your teaching! I’ve been that teacher who focuses on hands on innovative teaching - I finished this book with a list of must try activities! Do yourself a favor - read it!
Absolutely loved reading this book. For one that loves tech in the classroom, he portrays how tech and instruction go hand in hand even speaking on why tech in education isn’t the whole world, but should be used when needed. As a teacher, this book relates to our post-COVID (current) world. Teaching is tough now, but Nate gives some awesome advice and even offers great resources for educators to break the typical way of teaching. Great read!
Ridgway writes clearly on how to move the classroom into the post-pandemic classroom with a great metaphor to entertainment. He uses clear examples from his own classroom to engage the reader.
