Dwindling supplies and a long road to travel. A government bent on regaining control. A family caught in the middle.
Welcome to Falling Skies. Do you have what it takes to survive?
Caleb Machert and his family survived a meteor strike, acid rain, and a deadly tornado. They escaped a general gone rogue and a zealous cult. Now hundreds of miles separate them from the last chance at something akin to a normal life.
When a private police force shows up demanding registration and compliance, the Machert family is faced with a decision: comply and lose any chance at freedom or run and put their lives at risk. It’s one family against the machinations of a new government and a narcissistic billionaire. Time isn’t on their side.
Escape and Evade is book four in Falling Skies, a post-apocalyptic thriller series following ordinary people struggling to survive when a meteor strike plunges the United States into chaos.
Falling Skies Book 4 Another great book in the series. Harleys books don’t disappoint, they always keep you wanting more. I recommend to anyone who likes Apocalyptic Survival Thrillers.
Every series has an entry that supersedes the others, and this? This one is it. Though given the events that took place in this book, I'd imagine the final entry may very well give it a run for its money.
Because WOW.
The direction this story just took in this book alone is something to be commended. It's troubling. It's shocking. It's disturbing. It's saddening. It's tragic. It's ALL the things. Not only do we still get the same great stuff, like a fast pace, stellar writing, crucial character development, and gripping tension, but we also get the inclusion of narratives beyond the usual core of Caleb, Elizabeth, and Lana. Because of this, we get a whole new take on what ELSE is going in the world outside of the Machert family.
In all previous entries, the Prologue and Epilogue are the only exposures we readers get to the outside world. In this entry's case, that outside world--the government--is now intertwined withing the main story. So much more is revealed here, and since this is not a spoiler review, all I gotta say is: it ain't pretty. Where there is government, there is complication, and this story shows just how much complication there actually is. As if the nation dealing with the aftermath of an asteroid isn't horrible enough, now there's the government to contend with. Which is a bigger threat in the grand scheme of things? Guess you gotta read to find out.
This entry was just all sorts of perfect. The action was extremely amped up, so thrilling and heart-pumping. My only complaints are the typos, of which there were several this time around, all noticeable. But perhaps that's just a Kindle thing. Of course, they did nothing to ruin things for me at ALL. I'm pumped for the next and final entry of the series as I have zero clue how it's all gonna go down. So, if you'll excuse me while I jump back in...

The looming menace of Apex increases in this book as a man with a lot of money and time on his hands plots his path to domination. Really, though, you couldn't come up with a better name than Alan Trusk? There is a little too much time spent on Elizabeth's angst and Lana is starting to overtake her father as the dominate leader of the group. You also have to wonder about a president who opines that they can't let the situation get out of hand just before ordering St Louis to be nuked.
Much of this book is unbelievable I understand that it's fiction but when there isn't any electricity and the older man Chester is sending a signal by flipping the light switch to alert the people downstairs that the coast was clear was too far fetched for me Laughable
I cannot put this series down. I am reading one a day. The Macherts and Derek are heading west to Springfield, Colorado. More adventures along the way, including the nuking of a city by the new President. I like this family, though the mother, Elizabeth seems to be the weakest link and the slowest to adjust to the changing world. On to the next book.
Writing is superior when compared to many other post-apocalyptic books; however, the plot is weak and tedious. Had to take off another star for naming the arch-villain Alan Trusk
Harley Tate knows how to put you in the middle of the action! An ordinary family on the run from a billionaire and his computer. Trying to live through an asteroid strike. Can’t wait to read the next book!
w hat one has to do to adapt to a changed world seems to be the theme. I don't think I could kill either if I got a chance to, but then again if it were them or me, maybe. get the tyrant or die would be easier. Don't freeze.
Gets better with each book, well fleshed out people to keep up with. I can hardly wait to get to the next book. Anyone who enjoys post apocalypse series will enjoy this one.if hmmm I FC.! P
The story gets more complicated and dangerous. How on this earth do they continue to survive? I recommend this book to anyone looking to stay up all night for a good read. Can't wait to read the next I the series.
I enjoy the characters.I like the way they still have moral ethics even though it is a struggle at times. Sometimes they have to go to places they don't want to but family comes first.
Another great book by Harley Tate. I love the characters in this book and series. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of Harley’s books.
