Do you ever really know someone? After Ellen Cooper’s husband dies of a sudden heart attack, she discovers that she never really knew him. An almost arranged marriage that her father pushed her into, Ellen had thought she has been happy over the last 33 years – or at least satisfied. But as she packs up Robert’s belongings, she is starting to realize that was just a façade that she let herself believe.
To get over her angst and relax so she can face dealing with the will and all the paperwork from Robert’s death, Ellen decides to take a little trip by herself. Never in her life would she have expected to have an adventure, one that may make up for the loveless and dry marriage that she had endured all those years.
She meets a man. A young man. And he makes the next two weeks for Ellen absolute heaven. Well…almost.

This book was a prequel to the My Late Husband’s Secrets series. I do hate cliffhangers but this story was good if simple and I’ve already bought the 3 next books. Let’s hope they don’t disappoint.
WTH did I just read? It's a prequel to a series that I 'm NOT interested in after this so-called "prequel." I'm glad I read it, so I know NOT to continue the series.
It's a "late life" series, meaning the FMC is older, but so is the stuffy writing. It's so formal and rigid. The author used NO contractions, and as a result, I couldn't get into it.
There's not an age of the MMC. He's just "younger," then he turns out to be bisexual that she never sees again. When the FMC returns to her home, she finds out her husband bought a home 15 years ago that she's never known. That ends the prequel.
Thank you, but NO thank you.

Beginning to a mystery uncovered at the death of her husband of 33 years This is book one of five dealing with Ellen and the unknown mysteries surrounding her dead husband. It is short, only 54 pages but it captures the essence of Ellen and her former marriage. Ellen has suddenly become a widow from an arranged marriage of very little passion. Rather than deal with necessary matters, she decides to take a vacation on her own to Portugal. There she gets “her groove back” and realizes that she may not be as old as she thought. She has a fun and exciting affair with Anthony a younger man who gives her confidence that she had lost. When she gets back home and finds out that Robert, her dead husband had secrets, she’s intrigued and curious. What will she find? Now I need to read the rest of the stories relating to the mysterious house he owned without telling Ellen! I volunteered to review this book for the author.
Ellen Cooper married her husband Robert when she was 21 years old. It was basically an arranged marriage. Robert was mentored by Ellen’s father and he wanted to pass the real estate business down to a man versus his daughter. They were happy and they loved each other but weren’t “in love”. They have a son named Tyler who is in college. They were married 33 years when Robert suddenly dies of a heart attack.
Ellen is not ready to face the lawyers and go over all the paperwork. She goes to a single’s resort in Portugal for 2 weeks to relax and sort out her feelings and what she wants.
What adventures does Ellen have at the resort? What will she do when she comes back and finds out Robert owned a house in Ontario that she knew nothing about?
This was the prequel to this book surrounding the death of Ellen husband Bob who died suddenly of a heart attack. They were married 33 years but they were never together she was mostly home raising Tyler when he was younger (who’s in college now) and bob was always away flying out on business trips so they were mostly like roommates. She goes on a vacation for two weeks to get away from the frustration of dealing with the lawyers and paperwork and putting away bob things that needing dealing with at the time. She meets Anthony and who becomes her lover and well things gets spiced up this book was good to me. She accused him of stealing all of her money and it was Mr Gabrielle .
Good read - this is a prequel to a series and kind of ends on a cliffhanger (not a relationship type cliffhanger, but in the manner of 'what is she going to find out about her late husband'). It was a quick read. You got a glimpse of Ellen's character, but not much (as suited to a prequel, I suppose) and some of her back story. A few errors that should have been caught by the proofreader/editor, but not enough errors to detract from the flow of the story.
Two Weeks In Heaven: Prequel - My Late Husband's Secrets, my first read from author Victoria Michaels. An enjoyable well-written 57-page short read that slides into some explicit, steamy moments, an introduction to the 5-book Later Life Romance Series. “I received a Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
What will a woman over 40 do with herself alone after 20 years with the man see thought was her forever? Well, this trip has given her confidence and hope for her future. Who would have thought a younger man could help her regain the confidence she once had? Well, he did. Now her life doesn’t look so bleak. I loved how she came to this change.
Short story (56 pages) reads like an outline. Lots of sudden transitions. Emotionally unrealistic, especially for the MMC. Only one significant sex scene, predictable and not particularly erotic. No incentive to read the main book.
Ellen is recovering from her losing her husband. She decides to take a trip at a single's resort where she meets Anthony and they are getting a know each other. There is some heat and it is a great start to the series.
