A new foe arises… An ugly truth emerges… A long lost friend returns… An iconic ship flies into battle…
Captain Scott and the crew of the Aurora face the reality of a galaxy that is, in many ways, worse off than the one they left behind. But in doing so, they discover a new mission for the Aurora’s namesake, her captain, and her crew.
"Liberty and Truth, Peace and Prosperity" is the 3rd episode in Part 3 of the Frontiers Fringe Worlds. Episode 4 is coming soon!
Born in 1960 and raised on an overdose of television, NASA, and science fiction, Ryk Brown has worked as a cook, rock guitarist, stage lighting technician, and paramedic. He currently resides in Northern California with his wife, daughter, and cat. By day he fixes computers, and by night he creates stories. Having spent his entire life "thinking stuff up", the advent of digital publishing has finally given him an excuse to write it all down and share it with others. ("Others" meaning someone other than his poor wife and daughter.) A long-time fan of all things science and space, his goal is to write and publish an on-going series of sci-fi adventures. To be set in his own version of humanity's future, his characters will explore the vast reaches of the galaxy, and perhaps even the universe. He invites you all to join him on this journey through his vivid imagination.
I have been a fan of Ryk Brown since his first book. I am always waiting for the next book to come out. This book has a long title “Liberty and Truth, Peace and Prosperity”. This is book three of the third series. In each book I manage to get involved in the lives of the various characters and can hardly stop reading. When I started this book for about five minutes, I felt I had stepped into the middle of a conversation and was playing catch up. I was sitting on the edge of my chair as Aurora attempted to lift off out of the mud and into space. This series is definitely a new series and not a continuation of the first. Can not wait for the new book to come out.
I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. It is eight hours and forty minutes. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the series.
Great storyline with some flaws likable characters Story is great. The issue I have is with the main character and his biased toward artificial intelligence. He or his ship and crew wouldn’t be in space if it weren’t for artificial intelligence. I do not know if the stance is because of the authors thought patterns of bringing his audience into the discussion of AI being good or bad, and what purpose is served in society. in my opinion, I believe the anti-AI sentiment that some of the main characters have is totally unrealistic. The other issue I have is the MC’s bulldozing one of his subordinates because he thinks it’s better for him to talk to a prostitute. Psychologist and police all over the world know that a woman is best used to talk to another woman, I think the male bias of the author came in to play with this scene. another unrealistic aspect in the story. The MC may be a Boy Scout, but he does not know everything and should listen to his crew more. I had stopped reading this series for a while may continue reading it while I’m waiting for something else to read. it’s the same old Hash launch the ship, trash. It rebuild it slowly piece by piece, and then go after the enemy, a one trick pony. The story is good though, so if you’d like it, read it.
Ryk Brown has allowed Captain Nathan Scott to be off balance and at a disadvantage the entire first part of his Frontiers Saga Part 3. In "Liberty and Truth, Peace and Prosperity," the third in the new series, Nathan and his merry band of 500-year-old time travelers butt heads with the Brodek pirate clan. Their mission had been to help others not so fortunate, and the Brodek pirates make the lives miserable for many who live in planets in their sector. Of course, the Brodek aren't alone. They're just a part of the Korsan network of pirate clans. Still, for an Aurora that's not even that space worthy, they may as well be the Jungian Empire. Vladimir the engineer has done his best, incorporating the talents of Dominic to get the Aurora back up to shape. She crash landed and needs extensive repairs. But Brown doesn't appreciate down time. He likes action. He appears to thrive on the conflict in which he immerses his protagonists. I certainly don't mind the pacing. He moves the story along meteorically. This also forces me to keep reading. And I just noticed he released a ninth episode in the series.
The great leader and starship Captain is back! After several episodes of tumultuous ordeals, Captain Nathan Scott finally has his groove on! This episode really got me back into the spirit of why I have stuck with this series so long, now. Taking down the bad guys, acting as a force for good. I really look forward to seeing how the vision and leadership of Nathan Scott transforms this segment of space and perhaps rallies human kind…maybe against a non-human for found deeper in the reaches of the galaxy. The other storyline I would love to see is what happens when mankind ventures out of the galaxy, as it has been foreshadowed by certain characters. Oh well, can’t wait to see what comes next.
Book 2 I questioned how the author could basically rehash the previous series so obviously and still do such a good job Book 2 brought all of the old crew along, book 3 manages to bring along the supporting cast with even more far fetched storylines Once you get past all of that, you are in for a treat. You get Nathan's do good philosophy with all his friends trying to rein him in. Vlad, Jess and Cameron do a good job for the most part, but Nathan still does what he is good at No real surprises in this one, goes.pretty.much along expected.lines and even the finale gets telegraphed by Jessica
Ryk Brown knows how to tell a story! Since the introduction of Nathan Scott and company and the Aurora universe's , Ryk Brown has kept This reader engaged and begging for more. "Liberty and Truth, Peace and Prosperity" takes sci-fi full spectrum, and adds elements of classic tales and Western and dreams of the future all bended with a beautiful character base...If you like Star Trek, Fire fly, Star Wars,Heinlein, David Gerrold, Anne Mccafferty this series is for you.
The Aurora has crash landed on a planet 5 centuries in its future. Through agreements with a "trader" Nathan has been able to start to begin to work on his ship. Now, he is met by a past compatriot who was believed dead, and old friend and his chief engineer and his doctor. The appearance of "Tug" Casimir allows the Aurora to begin repairs in earnest. Well developed characters both new and old and a well designed plot make this a must read in the continuing series.
It seems as though all my reviews of Ryk Brown's books read the same. Great action,etc...... and I really don't know how he comes up with so many variations of his successful formula. I guess you just have to read and enjoy them! Only wish we didn't have to wait so long for the next installment.
Been reading this series from the beginning. Mr Brown just keeps the action trampled up. I just say that the ending of this one showed a completely different change in Nathan's character. Loved the end. Already looking forward to the next book. Hope it is not long in coming. Can't wait.
Stranded 500 years in a future that they didn't expect, in the wildest frontier area, what else can you do beside becoming the new sheriff in town. Here comes Nathan Scott on the Aurora!
I'm always so excited to get an email from Ryk that another Frontiers Saga is available at kindle unlimited. Just love this series and these books jump to the front of the queue to be read.
My only negative comment is I wish Ryk could write faster :(
As usual an unforgettable tale. Captain Scott removes a dictator from the position of authority. He also starts to set up a better civilization for all.
Once again the Aurora has grabbed me by the heart and I can't help but feel like I'm one of the crew on another mission to right all the wrongs of mankind. I sure hope you're writing fast Mr. Brown, I NEED the next episode!!!!!
This series just keeps getting better! Excellent writing, hard to put down, can’t wait for the next chapter. Brown tells a great story, I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys good sci-fi.
I have said it before… this is by far the best science fiction series I have ever read… every single book is awesome and leads to the next. The characters grow on you and the adventures never stop!
Not sure why this is not a series on Netflix or Amazon!!!
This was a fast read that balanced action packed fighting with interesting story telling. The character development and their back story was a little lacking.
Really enjoyed part 3 of this series & a great ending too. You really need to start at the start with this series to understand & get all the characters - but people who read books mid series are just weird anyway!
Ryk Brown NEVER fails to weave an engaging narrative. It takes some patience to wait between installment releases. But the wait has always been worthwhile. So, I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next chapter!
Ryk you’ve done a great job on this story again by weaving friends lost to the past but coming back to the future. Nathan and crew are again at the best and the interaction between them is great as usual. Thanks and lets get #4 out soon.
I have followed this series from the start, and the stories just keep getting better! I hope this new story line runs for many, many books! I know I will read them all!
Have greatly enjoyed all the books in this series !!!
Great reed like the characters great to see the return of some of the old characters. Wish the book would have been longer can't wait for the next one.
I thought it was odd that captain Scott willingly walked into a trap, but it was all a convenient setup to bring the series into the future. I like that it’s back on track. Nathan doesn’t do the smart thing… he does the right thing
Excellent continuation off one of my favourite sci-fi series, please keep up the stellar work and series,I look forward to seeing slot more from Nathan Scott and his crew.
Another wild ride for the Aurora and her crew as they try to protect the Vernay sector from pirates. Even better is the clear direction we have for what is coming next. Can't wait.
Nathan is always finding causes and he has found his new cause in this book of the third series. Always entertaining and he has his old friends with him and some older friends rejoined. I look forward to where book four takes us.
Another really great read! One of the best for me recently. I bore easily with most new authors, never with this particular one! What a pleasure to read more of this saga. Thanks again
getting used to the idea of 500+ years in the future
Good action story with lots of twists, drama, pathos and humor if you have read the previous 32 stories. Nathan and crew are trying to undo what The Alliance became, one section of space at a time.
I love all these books from the beginning series. But wrecking the aurora again again is getting quite old. And I am waiting patiently for lucius telles to come back. I like kit but he is not the same. We all miss lucius.
Just finished reading this book and loved every minute of it.Right from the start the author draws you into the story and keeps you totally engrossed until the end and then leaves you wanting more.
