Gracie

Before I was taken, my life was normal. I had parents who loved me, friends I’d have died for, and a boyfriend who doted on me. But one night changed it all, and for sixteen months, I’ve been missing, living in a hell created by the monsters who took me.

When Scar finds me, I’m a shadow of who I used to be. His patience and dedication to keep me safe is apparent from the beginning, and honestly, I like it. I haven’t felt this safe in a long time. But it soon becomes obvious that Scar’s got his own issues. He keeps himself hidden away from the world, reluctant to speak let alone show his face.

I want to help him the same way he’s helped me . . . so why won’t he trust me?

Scar

From the second I saw her lying on that church pew, looking vulnerable and sad, I was drawn to her. Something about the way she clung to me had me vowing to protect her.

I can’t begin to imagine the hell she’s been through, but taking her back to The Perished Riders’ clubhouse was the only solution. I knew my Pres could help—it’s what he’s vowed to do since taking over as the club’s leader. But keeping Gracie so close is both a blessing and a curse. Yes, she’s safe, but she’s got a way of making me open up like I never have. She digs deep, uncovering scars and exposing my heart.

Now, I have to trust she won’t break it . . .

I hate it when authors write nonsense
Inconsistency trope

He with ow two days after being with the heroine and choosing to be with ow because of his kid:

‘’When I get there and she answers the door in a silk nightshirt, I inwardly groan. She smiles, grabbing my shirt and tugging me inside. She hasn’t even closed the door before her tongue is in my mouth and she’s clawing at my kutte. My cock is hard, because it’s got a mind of its own when it comes to Katya, and there’s nothing I can do to control it.
“August is so excited for tomorrow,” she whispers in my ear. I keep my hands by my side as she pulls my kutte from my shoulders, dropping it to the floor. I stare down at it, discarded on the floor like rubbish. She never understood the club or its importance in my life. She pushes a condom into my hand and tugs at my belt. “K-Kat,” I mutter, trying to still her hands. She glares at me. “What?” I sigh, because it’s not worth the argument. “N-nothing,” I mumble, and she grins, pulling my zipper down.

Later the heroine sees him

‘’Scar pauses, and I see the marks right away, the hickey-type bruising on his neck, the red lipstick on his collar. I bite my lower lip angrily. Two days and he’s back in her bed.’’

A day later

“I d-d-didn’t h-have sex with her. She wanted to, but I c-c-couldn’t.”

Another visit to his ex when he leaves his kid at her house and they have an argument

“I’ve got a solution to your little problem,” she says, pointing to my cock. She holds up a pack of blue pills, and I snigger. She doesn’t get that I can’t get hard for her because I hate her guts. Trust me, she’s tried everything to get me off, but I just can’t anymore. I miss Gracie and the way we were together.’’

This fucker got hard by kissing the ow after being with the heroine but he suddenly he can’t get hard? Do better next time please. He literally said in his mind about not being able to control his dick with the ow but we are suppose to believe he who was already hard when she kissed him couldn’t be hard to finish the job while she tried everything??

Want to know how strong the heroine is? His ex scratched his face after that fight and he goes to the heroine, she know he allowed her ex to do things so he can perform sex. His neck for gods sakes is full of marks but she still fucks him without a fucking condom

Scar is the second book of the Perished Riders series. I didn’t read the first, but I think they’re an English biker gang that saves abused women. The book opens with Gracie escaping a human trafficking ring where she was horribly abused for sixteen months. She meets Scar when he retrieves her for the club, and the two form a bond.

My issues were writing specific, but I know a few people were concerned with the safety, so I thought I’d quickly address it. **SPOILERS** The H has a long, complicated, abusive relationship with his ex. Kat gives him the ultimatum of choosing Gracie or not seeing his daughter. (He chooses his daughter.)

The actual scene is VERY short… He goes to her house; she sticks her tongue in his mouth while ripping off his shirt. He tries to still her hands, she snaps what, he sighs and mumbles nothing with the internal thought that it’s not worth the argument, and the scene ends with her pulling down his zipper. That’s it.

Personally, I felt like the author gave us enough examples to show he was traumatized (flinching, not able to be touched, stuttering, etc.) from both physical and emotional abuse. So, I found him shutting down plausible… not all victims fight back. IMO, the problem was the inconsistencies surrounding it. Like… being told he got hard then telling us the next chapter that he couldn’t get it up no matter what she tried. Or being told that he didn’t visit his daughter in the 6-mths he was out of prison, but then seeing her became so important he dumped Grace. (which could be because of the ex, but no attempts are on page) Regardless, this is a teeny part of the book that goes nowhere.

I thought the bigger issue was the constant manipulation of the plot by having character’s actions/behaviors switch to whatever the scene required. **SPOILERS** Like, Grace getting over her horrifying ordeal very quickly, so she could start pursuing Scar. Or, the reactions of her “loved ones” after the truth came out. I can’t imagine any loving parent would openly side with their daughter’s abuser’s daughter over their own child. Nor would ANYONE ever say… hey can you drop those rape charges so he can walk his daughter down the aisle…

And for the love of GOD… Can we please make the villains smarter not the h’s dumber??!! The lengths of stupidity Gracie was forced to go to generate action was ABSURD. Noone is that stupid… you just escaped hell and your protectors have told you to keep a low profile while they catch the baddies, so you…

A) Go back to where you escaped with 2 girls as backup.
B) Go off on your own when you’re acting as bait with someone that may or may not have set you up.
C) Go clubbing because the guys are out and asked you to stay put, but you want to dance.
D) Announce yourself on national TV.
E) Walk to the coffee shop by yourself.
F) Jump into the back of the dodgy police officer's car without question. (when you know the police are part of the ring)

Unfortunately... it's all the above.

Bottom Line- This started out all right, but went sideways the last 30% with a series of TSTL moments and character actions that were so unbelievable that it became silly. I was rolling my eyes so much that I gave myself a headache. Everything was manipulated and drama driven rather than developed to make sense. It felt lazy. I’m rounding up but will not be continuing the series.

Great intense read

Gracie is betrayed by someone she thought she could trust. She escapes from captivity and is rescued. Scar doesn't talk much but is a fantastic listener and he helps with Grace's healing.

Scar has his own demons to deal with in the name of Katya, I wished we learned how she was after the help she received.

I found Gracie to be strong for what she went through. I loved Rose and August, hope we see more of them.

I felt like this book had a lot of potential but just didn't come together for me.

It's a dark book with horrific themes of gang rape, sex slavery, kidnapping, incarceration, abuse and abusive relationships. I knew it wouldn't be an easy read but I like MC romances so I was in.

I did really like the beginning of this book. Despite the circumstances how Scar and Gracie meet... he's there for her after she escapes her captors. He has a severe stutter and scars on his face, so the two broken people find kindred spirits in each other.
But somewhere along the lines... things that happen just had me shaking my head. Not in a good way. I almost gave up reading at one part. A LOT of shit goes down. Possibly too many things are being juggled here so they don't get the appropriate explanation and conclusions as they should have.

I liked Gracie at the beginning. But the minute she is attracted to Scar, I found her to be very unrealistic. She's been through 16 months of absolute hell. As soon as she has one therapy session, it felt like she wasn't traumatised anymore. I just don't believe a guy can heal all that happened to her. Once she hooks up with Scar... I felt like she was all about him and not focused on her healing and recovery. She looses sight of what's important like helping the other women or getting justice with those who hurt her.
Her reactions to some things were just plain weird and wrong. As the book went on she made many questionable and dumb decisions. Who gets in a random cop car when some of the men who raped you were cops and judges?
Gracie doesn't tell her partner that his 14 year old daughter is pregnant?
She goes to a club with some girls with no protection or common sense even though she was once drugged, kidnapped from at a bar and held under a nightclub? Seriously?
Her relationship with her parents was fucking strange too. They sided way too much with Jen, her best friend than with her. Even knowing Jen's father raped her! And Gracie's father is walking Jen down the aisle so she can marry his daughter's ex she cheated with? WHAT?

Also it was so obvious from the beginning that Jen was involved in her disappearance. Gracie was literally taken from the bar she owned. By guys she had invited. And Jen wasn't taken too? RED FLAGS RIGHT THERE!!
But Gracie just kept giving her the benefit of the doubt? Even after knowing she cheated with her boyfriend Edward and got engaged to him while she was missing. She stole her dream wedding. Her father was one of the men who raped her... the list goes on. Jen was one of the despicable characters I have ever read. Honestly I got so much satisfaction that Gracie destroyed her life at her wedding.

I also couldn't believe that Gracie forgot she was pregnant when she'd been taken? The loss of a child... I think that would have broken me more than anything else they did to me. She doesn't remember that until the end? I thought that was very odd placement to throw in as the final nail in the coffin for Jen. Like there hadn't been enough before that?

Scar - I adored him at the beginning. His stutter and shyness about his face scar... sigh. His devotion to Gracie was super sweet too.
And to find out about his toxic, abusive relationship was heartbreaking. Katya is without a doubt on my most hated characters ever list. I could call her every name under the sun and it wouldn't be enough.
I hated that I had to read about her practically raping Scar. It was definitely sexual assault what she did to him on more than one occasion. She sent him to prison for something she set him up for and something she did. The father of her child. WHO DOES THAT!
And the fact she uses his child against him constantly... I can't. When Scar went back to her I almost gave up. He kept letting her win. I couldn't deal with that but quickly he realised his mistake thank god.
I really disliked the ending for Katya. She runs away to get help from depression? The woman should be in prison!

A Great Story of Survival

Gracie is abducted from her friend’s birthday party and held for sixteen months before she escapes her captors. The Perished Riders MC has made it their mission in helping women so when they are contacted that a woman has just stumbled into a church and needs help its Scar who is sent to bring her to the clubhouse. Scar is a man with his own issues. He hides under a cap and hoodie and hardly speaks. Together Scar and Gracie help heal each other.

This book was a dark read but it sure hit me in the heart with the struggles of both Scar and Gracie. It was fast paced and it was a book that I couldn’t put down. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

“I stare at Gracie, waiting for her to slap me or spit at me or something. Instead she smiles kindly, taking my hand and kissing my cheek”

Book 2 in the Perished MC was another hit. It was Scar and Gracie’s turn for their hea. And dear Jesus did they deserve it.

Gracie was taken from her best friends (🤬) party 16 months ago and has been held captive ever since.
At the start of the book we see her escape and Scar comes to her rescue, which starts off their beautiful journey of healing and accepting each other.
Scar isn’t your usual knight in shining armour and has a lot of emotional baggage himself. My heart broke for both of these lead characters and I’m so glad they got the hea.
I have to say, that this was a new to us author that was found on TikTok and this second book was amazing, the writing style, the storytelling. She is definitely worth a read and we look forward to see what and who the rest of the series brings.

What am amazing story about Scar and Gracie!! I love Nicola Jane books so I was super excited to read this one. Gracie is living a normal life until she is kidnapped and it’s been 16 months until she finally escapes. Scar finds her asleep on a church pew and brings her back to the club. After his accident he doesn’t like touching people and hides his face but Gracie brings out something in him and he slowly starts opening up. Such a good book that I couldn’t put down!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

wow

I was really looking forward to the second in this series, cause I really enjoyed the first one.
I don’t really know where to start, it was like 2 very separate stories were being told in the same book. I think one story line should of been picked. Having the main character escaping being held captive and abused for months and the club helping her was enough of a story to make the whole book, Then we had an abusive ex girlfriend and a pregnant teenager, and then the parents of the victim are on the side of one of the abusers! It was all just so unrealistic and to quote a character in the book “like a bad movie” like a really bad daytime movie that makes no sense. I felt like maybe the author lost her way abit in the middle and couldn’t decide which story she wanted to tell. I actually hate giving books bad reviews but I just couldn’t get my head around this one.

It’s not very often I come across a MC book that puts the H in the position of being weaker of the two. Now let me explain a little. He has low self esteem due to an accident and his ex is a POS so he comes across as weak. He is kind, gentle and of so alpha in all the right ways. Our h is a quietly spoken fierce and strong woman who develops feelings for our H after a horrible experience. Great storyline and further side character development makes this a great second book in what is playing out to be another epic series by Nicola Jane

Too frustrating to enjoy the book.

I would not recommend this book. The hero treats her badly so many times. The hero repeatedly goes back to his psycho ex. The heroine takes a big pile of crap from them both and then it ends with her saying, "well ok then, I love you. ".

Disappointed

The victim in this story is continually revictimized over and over by the her own family and it's made to seem like it's no big deal during the conclusion of the story. The bolstering of the heroines strength at the end could really use some work.

Some spoilers and ill add it might not bother others ...so ok if your one but me 😒
First to address this plot ,ill just say it was so unrealistic that it was sad.
Second as to the behavior of a sex traffic victim being portrayed as ok to be around men and women and have absolutely no problem ....just bothered me so much.
I know the writer write a lot that I find touchy and mostly unbelievable. And in the case of the ( another series) old dead wife came back and even tho im a stupid man( or writer in that case) and never questioned timing or why she faked death ,but ima get rid.of now fiance and sleep with the love of my life dead wife because mmm mmm man what a bod and things she can do , now that was hard to swallow but this book??? No its a very real thing ,woman go through this every day and you couldn't spare the time to do some research because it would get in the way of your " romance" ?
Over a year this woman has been not just sexually assaulted but sadist and all forms of torture committed to her .Drugged with date rape drugs ,ghb.... Took to powerful people house ,add mental torture to that mix..for over a year..... And she's fine guys .Trust the priest \ farther , a strange biker that hides face ,rides on bike and does not know where she going ,
. Get to club and give her an A+ for just going right on in but want the biker to stay with her...no. Just no. She is thinking about him in a non brotherly way ..after sexual torture ,mental torture from men and women for over a year......sigh ..sure ill let it go cause can't have writer give abused women a normal mind in these stories .
But when you add all the stupid stuff to it. These guys are going up against judges ,cops and other powerful men ...you made these women so stupid .This woman should be looking for a hole to hide in.Not sexing it up or being stupid enough to think no one was hunting her .OMG ! She goes to place where she escaped from with just two girls ..that's it ,no protection. They go to the bars ....follow the guys and just acts like they just wanna have fun!! Of course the kidnapped women come out right there and you bravely confront bf dad....and out yourself all over the web and news ..live..with cops ,judges and so forth hunting you because they all raped you but hey girls got to do what she got to do ...right 😁
Could you make her any more stupid ?? YES! Oh she didn't know they were still looking for her ,wide eye blinking in dumb naivety .😯 Nah sex traffickers not looking for the one that escaped that the judge and wife raped and tortured ,or the high up cop,or any of the others like her best friend dad .....friend that they owned the clubs that girls go missing from.... omg this story.
Then the bf. Never though twice if my daughters bf came over after she went missing from her club.nope.And my daughters boyfriend attached to her hip...nope...how she started having me do all the daughter mother things with her ,,you know I'd need that .How my husband was filling the farther role for her instead of our daughter...nope
I mean wow do you want me to suffer ? I got to have comfort. Never cross my mind that you were her bf ,your club, daughters boyfriend ,daughters parents and you slid right in there . Nope I'd not think anything other than you were supporting us and giving us what we needed ...A daughter. Then add all the stuff they put their real daughter through when she got back? Unrealistic reaction to being traffic right off. I'd be a complete mess and no you would not get me separated from her ,sorry. Then to act like they did toward her about the boyfriend and her bf .Still taking that spot as mother and farther. No . As a mother that loves her child my husband would not be doing anything for that girl . I would not either . But nah ,yall still going on lunch dates with her ,shopping for wedding with her ,her coming over and trying to make your real sex abused trafficked daughter understands that she was there for you ..they just replaced her ,I mean she was everything their real daughter was.Right down to the boyfriend 😇
Then after they find out that her dad raped her and was responsible for the traffic ..can we not press charges on her dad? Come on she's marrying you boyfriend and needs her dad . 😭😭😭😁😀🙁😒😕😠.. Y'all hold my da#n bag.
His daughter would not be in the same block with me much less going to fittings, lunch and walking her on wedding day cause poor her ,her daddy in jail for getting what a man deserve from a woman. I would never speak to my parents again.NEVER
I can t even touch the abusive girlfriend with daughter .
I couldn't with this book. I'm going off my own personal experience and there is no way to wrap my head around someone being like she was in this story ...none.
Leave it with you there ,I know its just a story but this is a problem that is only getting worse and the woman that survive it don't deserve to have it wrote as if it just a thing to get over .
The first book was same with abused ,for years, woman that just had no problem being around men or having sex.... Just struck a nerve with these topics ..do some research please.
Abused victims act different I know but with this ..no way . Just no.

attn: this is FILLED with spoilers. i just finished the book and am just venting

honestly, i didn’t think this book would hurt my heart that much but it really did. my heart went out to both of our MC’s - Gracie especially. what she went through is unfathomable and coming back to see someone who you thought was your best friend, basically steal your life was the awful icing on the cake. i loved her character. her strength, wit and the way she pulled off exposing them? genius.

Scar- i felt for him as well. reading his body language, his flinches, his stutters each time he wanted to communicate with her but was getting frustrated with himself hurt me. he had idiotic moments but in the grand scheme of things, i understood it and i was glad to see him pull his head out of his ass and actually talk to Gracie.

August is a sweetheart.

Katya irritated me but compared to Jen, her father and the other men, she took a back burner. this is a book where the OW actually did not bother me as much in terms of angst between the MC’s but i absolutely hated the way she treated Scar. she’s abusive and reading his reactions to her broke my heart.

This may be petty but if i was Gracie, I would not have “forgiven” my parents or Edward as quick as she did. obviously they were mourning and in terms of her parents, knowing that Jen was their daughters best friend they clung to that… but come ON. yes they couldn’t have done anything about Jen and Edward having gotten together but they didn’t feel strange about it at all??? esp after hearing that they had gotten together WHILE he was still in a relationship with their daughter?? (side note i am not a fan of the trope where theres two best friends, one of them passes away and eventually the other ends up with the widow of the bff like that is WEIRD. i would haunt the shit out of my best friend if she did that. i understand bonding due to grief but out of all the men in the world and you choose MINE? go tf outside??? when we all get to heaven then what? are we supposed to be a throuple?? absolutely not. hahah sorry this trope pisses me off to no end) and after Gracie returns, having to hear that your mom booked your best friends wedding to your ex in YOUR dream venue, not to mention Jen asking GRACIE’S DAD to walk her down the aisle and him agreeing?????? at that point i put my kindle down and was like “you do remember that Jen isn’t your daughter right?”

and for Edward - yes he wasn’t directly involved with her kidnapping and isn’t to blame for what transpired but he still cheated on his long term gf with her best friend. the dickhead. and to have the audacity to say that he would’ve left Jen to be with Gracie if he knew she was pregnant?? then after everything ask if they can keep in touch ARE YOU DUMB. regardless on if you left Jen you still cheated???? i’m fairly certain he also didn’t believe Gracie when she told him what happened. i was so flabbergasted reading that and when Scar said “He fucked her best friend, and as far as I’m concerned, none of this would have happened if he hadn’t done that.” honestly i somewhat agreed with that because even if Jen had a crush on him, things may not have been as drastic if he simply pushed her away when she kissed him - made clear boundaries - and did not hook up with her. OR he could’ve just broken up w Gracie then and there. talking to her about marriage after cheating on her was disgusting to read.

Don’t even get me started with Jen & those foul men - she’s genuinely psychotic and i am so glad Scar didn’t kill any of the men because it was such a relief for Gracie to hear that they would rot in a cell. For them, death was the easier, much kinder option.

now for critiques, i wasnt a fan of the inconsistencies. like being told how he got hard then suddenly telling us he can’t. also how he didn’t visit August but suddenly dumping Grace so he could. it just didn’t make sense and there weren’t really explanations for them.

All in all this was a good book for me - excuse my full on rant but i had to express myself after reading this 😂

Scar (Perished Riders MC #2) by Nicola Jane is an emotional, raw, violent story that will pull you in from beginning to end as we follow the journey between Scar and Gracie. Can two broken and used souls come together and help each other heal through the power of love?

Scar keeps to himself around his brothers always hiding his face and doesn't talk much as he is dealing with so much pain by situations that happened to him as he is in a toxic, violent relationship where he is physically and mentally by his ex Kat . All of his troubles begin and end with Kat who caused the accident that left his face scarred, lied that he assaulted her to the police which sent him to prison for a crime he didn't commit. Kat's psychotic behavior is becoming more violent as she is using their daughter as a pawn in her game of tormenting Scar.

Gracie is a strong young woman whose life is about to implode when she is dumped by her boyfriend, goes out to with her best friend to a party where she meets a handsome man who drugs her and kidnaps her. Now Gracie finds she is caged, shackled and used in a violent manner by a group of men who run a sex slave ring catering to wealthy, prominent men for sex. Gracie has been a prisoner along with other women for almost 2 years. When she has the chance to escape, she is running for her life as she is being followed. When she comes to a church she is helped by a priest who tells her help is on the way. Scar is now told by his President that he needs to go to the church and pick up a young woman, as the Perished Riders MC have been helping women who are in danger. The interaction between Scar and Gracie from the first time they meet is heartfelt as the chemistry between these two is intense. Gracie only feels calm with Scar by her side as the bond that forms between them will have both of them on a path of discovery through healing and love. Scar is torn with all of the secrets he is keeping from Gracie, can she turn his life around? Gracie now finds that she needs to be around Scar in order to heal, but how does she get him to break down his barriers as he won't talk to her or let her see his face.

When she gets him to take off his hoodie and show her his face, one look at Scar and Gracie sees a handsome man with a body to die for regardless of the scars he tries to hide. Once they both open up about how they were hurt and used, Scar and Gracie begin a relationship that is emotional, raw and sexy as they help each other heal but Kat is playing games once again as she gives Scar an ultimatum Gracie will stand her ground as she tries to help Scar see he is being used but will Scar be able to stop being abused by Kat in fear of losing his daughter? Not wanting to cause him anymore stress, she informs him that she will be waiting for him when he tells her he can't see her anymore. Little by little Gracie's memory is coming back as she tells Scar that the man who took her is named Brandon. But things soon take a turn as the men Gracie ran from are still looking for her as the police are being paid by a corrupt Judge who is part of this sex ring. Can Scar and the club protect her when they come up with a plan to flush these men out or will Gracie and the other ol' ladies do something placing all of them in danger? What happens when he learns that Gracie kept a secret from him about his daughter? This story had so many twists and turns as Scar and Grace reunite never to be parted again, and now all of the pieces of the puzzle comes to light when Gracie learns that she has been betrayed by someone close to her who took her life, boyfriend and family and orchestrated her kidnapping. Now we see a different side to Gracie who is truly an ol'lady when she takes her life back and gets her revenge on all those who have used and hurt her. Now Scar, Gracie and his daughter begin a life as a family! Nicola Jane has done an outstanding job telling this emotional story about Scar. This is a must read!!!

Wow – this story had me in my emotions. Not many stories can do this, so when it happens, it can only mean that is good! This is the story of Scar (Hunter) and Gracie. Scar is a member of the Perished Riders MC and is a very quiet, reserved man who sticks to himself. Gracie came from a good home and had been taken on a night out with her best friend and was tortured and used by men until she was able to escape. She made it to a church where the vicar (also a member of the Perished Riders) called Mav to come protect her. Scar was sent to pick her up and from there, something inside of Scar wanted to protect Gracie from everyone (only he couldn’t understand why, seeing how he had closed himself off from everyone else). Even though Scar didn’t speak much, something about his voice calmed Gracie and made her feel safe.

This story had so much going on – trafficking, sexual assault, deception, betrayal, forgiveness, loyalty, understanding, lost souls, journeys and chemistry. You would think that the torture that Gracie had to endure for 16 months would have been what had my emotions all over the place, but it was actually Scar’s story that touched me more. All too often people overlook the fact that men can be victims of abuse – whether it is physical, mental or emotional. Unfortunately for Scar, he endured all three from his ex-wife (Katya) and mother of his daughter (August). She broke him down and had a hold over him and used it against him seeing August. The way Nicola Jane wrote about this and how it was dealt with by Scar spoke to me.

This was a great story with probably my favorite character so far in this series (Scar). I did not want this story to end, but I am looking forward to the next book in this series and cannot wait to read about Grim!

This story started off with Gracie, who was held captive for over a year by a sex trafficking ring. Scar comes to her rescue and the MC keeps her safe. Pretty basic there, no surprises, although there is a delicious FU moment at the wedding of her former best friend and her ex. What made this book interesting was the fact that Scar was also a victim. His (former) partner abused him physically, drove drunk and got him severely injured and cut up, then lied and sent him to prison. Prior to that, she used his daughter to extort him into coming back to her, up to when he sent her to prison. Men can be victims of Domestic Violence and Abuse as well. But Scar was given no real help for his trauma, and was left to pull so deeply into himself that he wouldn’t even show his face. And This devalues his experience and sends the (incorrect) message that male victims of abuse are somehow less worthy of justice. Not. Cool.

When Gracie manages to escape an awful experience, she is looked after by a local biker's club that helps vulnerable women.
Getting attached to the mute and scary looking man that picks her up isn't so unusual and their connection becomes solid.
Scar is a complicated man who has a terrible past too with his accident and abusive ex who controls his visitation to his daughter.
These two broken people seem to perfectly slot together in order to heal each others jagged pieces.

I loved this story for many reasons but mostly because I adored the two main characters and felt such intense emotions during this read.
Both have traumatic pasts but both are beautiful people with big hearts who care deeply for one another.
This woman is capable of bringing him out of his shell and changing his life for the better.
This man is her comfort, her strength and her safety after the horrific things she has experienced during her imprisonment.
I hate his ex and those parts of the story had my blood absolutely sizzling with anger and disgust.
A powerful story that has been handled with care, empathy, love and decency.
I was amazed and blown away by the depth to this book and it is burned into my mind with its seriousness.
The author is on another level of creativeness with this offering and I must admit that I haven't ever read a biker story that has been so deep and realistic.
My heart was broken multiple times while reading but this couple healed my pain and stung my eyes.
An unbelievable masterpiece that deserves proper recognition in the literary world for its content.

This book may be a tough read for someone with triggers about abuse. Most of it is talked about rather than shown. It does however show that being abused in a relationship doesn't just happen to women. The subject is handled very delicately. Helping abused women us the focus of the Perished Riders MC.

The guys of this MC stand behind the mission that Maverick set. This is Scar's/Hunter's story. He is a big, strong man yet he is emotionally, mentally and physically abused. He is sent to bring a woman who has escaped from abuse back to the clubhouse for protection. Little does he know as much as he protects and helps her she does the same for him.

Gracie is such a strong woman. She fled from her captors and after a short time she us strong enough that she is ready to bring them down. The people who had her are powerful people with lots of money and clout. The MC has to be very careful how they go about this.

The story is a dark subject yet it doesn't feel too heavy. The men and women of the MC are a family that supports each other and those that come into their fold. The men are strong and protective but the women too are strong characters.

Hunter and Gracie has a slow burn as they both heal, using the other gor support. They are perfect for each other as she is the one who brings Hunter out of the shell of man he is. The pages kept me turning as I wanted to see how the MC was going to take them down. I love this series and can't wait to read about Grim!

Rollercoaster

I took the time to read the first in this series before reading Scar and I am glad I did as it really helped me understand the characters more (the supporting ones not the main H & h)

I liked this story and it was a real journey of a book with moments you want to almost scream at the characters and others where you want to smack them round the head for their stupidity!

I liked learning more about Scar and especially seeing him come more and more into his own throughout the book, his relationship with Gracie was turbulent and they were off and on again more times than a light switch but there was always such feeling behind it all that I kind of forgave them.

Gracie was just amazing and seeing her slowly piece together the “why” of what happened was intriguing and heart wrenching. The stuff with her family especially, as if she hadn’t gone through enough

I will say that by the time I got to the end of this story I felt like I’d been through an emotional wringer, and by the time the whole August thing came about I was mildly weary of the silent treatment arguments.

Despite this, a good read I’d recommend and I’m looking forward to seeing Grim fall hard
