Playing the Player

Rate this book
Emery Amerson was in awe of her boss, she did everything in her power to get his attention. She used everything she had to offer to get him to pay attention to her. He was like every girl's dream. She was willing to play this game to the ultimate end. She wanted to be with him no matter what. Turns out she was a little too good in drawing his attention to her... The game she played with Jude Rogers had suddenly taken an ugly turn... Looked a lot like she was the one getting played.

I began writing dark erotica in 2014. I found that it really irritated me how authors bring down their male leads and make love stories sappy. I continually began to feel unfulfilled with reading. So I wrote a book how I like to read it. I find that although my stories are full on and seem a bit much, so many of my readers have connected to them. I try to tone it down ever so often in my books, but I find I write better the harder the material I write about.

I’m shook at how much I enjoyed the FMC here. She usually writes doormats every single book but every 10-20 I’ll hit the jackpot like this one and it’ll be a stronger FMC

OMG! FINALLY a heroine who isn’t a complete pathetic doormat. Which is so very rare to read in dark romance books. Beth has done the unthinkable and she did it well.

The beginning of the book was very fast paced. A couple of pages in and Emery is already agreeing on terms to be with Jude. I really wish there was more backstory on the characters. Emery mentioned "kind of missing her dad" but we were never told anything else about her dad or where he was. Or if he was deceased or not. I’m not going to lie the first 25% of the book was kind of boring to me and I was a little worried at first but then it started to pick up and I was hooked.

Jude and Emery were equally crazy, obsessed and in love with each other. The ending was kind of fast paced. I wish it was more eased out. The part of them getting back together, Jude didn't have to do much to get her back. I honestly wish there was an epilogue in this book. I would love to see what Jude and Emery were like as parents. (Maybe there'll be glimpses of them in the next book in this series? Not really sure though.)

I can’t wait to read Blade and Sapphire’s story in the next Games series book. I like the step sibling trope so I'm super excited for their book.
