Merel Pierce was born and raised in the Midwest, USA. Ever the country girl, her hobbies have evolved to include nature photography, animal care, and exploring the great outdoors.

She is a crafter/art hobbiest, who spends her time writing, working on art projects, and keeping her two rescue dogs; a Schipperke mix and a Jack Russel, out of trouble.

She has always been drawn to the duality of life, learning early on to appreciate both the light and the dark of what the world has to offer. She believes there is beauty and meaning to be found in both the struggles and joys life brings and strives to share that with her writing.

This was non con with werewolf seggs in werewolf form and it was truly great. The ‘were’ is a monster, but the man a cinnamon roll.

Argumento:

Cuando Greer hereda una cabaña de un tío separado, no está segura de lo que encontrará.

Ella espera un piso de soltero desordenado, no un inquilino hombre lobo.

Es aterrador y primitivo, y definitivamente quiere comérsela... En más de un sentido.

Ella sabe que debería resistirse, pero ¿y si su seducción resulta demasiado carnal para negarlo?

Y si cede, ¿cómo superará los desafíos de vivir con un monstruo por novio?



Mi humilde opinión:

Leí unos cuantos romances raros con héroes cambiadores que me gustaron mucho. No es el caso de Longing.

Hubo cosas que fueron un No para mí. Que no pude superar mientras leía. La violación fue un gran no. No me sentí cómoda con esa escena, me pareció salida de la nada y tremenda en lo explicita que fue.

Acá hay un hombre Lobo que vio todo rojo cuando captó el olor de la protagonista, Greer, y por instinto no solo abusa brutalmente de ella sino que la obliga a disfrutarlo.

Pero resulta que el humano dentro de la bestia, Nathan, era más bueno que el pan. De casualidad unos días después del abuso hay luna llena y él vuelve a su forma humana, con remordimientos regresa a buscar a Greer a su cabaña y le explica la situación de su maldición pero... con poco recelo tras conocer a su abusador y su historia, Greer lo invita a quedarse a pasar la noche, WTF!? Ella debería estar traumatizada después de lo que le pasó, debió haberlo echado cuando reveló quien era él, ella debió haberse ido corriendo de ese lugar sin mirar atrás mucho antes! Era lo lógico por hacer!

Greer me desconcertó y enojó mucho por la manera en que responde y piensa tras lo que sucedió siendo víctima de una violación. Me desconcertó porque si bien ella mostró horror por todo lo que le pasó y no pudo detener a su abusador porque era más fuerte y tenía miedo obviamente por lo que era, por otro lado ella actuaba como si tampoco fuera algo grave después de todo.

Pensé en dejar el libro porque por más fantasia que sea no me gustó cómo fue el primer encuentro de los protas, no me gusta leer violación en un romance! pero quería saber a dónde iba a parar toda esta historia.

Bueno... No fue a parar a ningún lado.

Después de la escena de abuso y todos los pensamientos idiotas de Greer que siguieron, ya perdió todo sentido para mí.

Cómo construir una relación romántica luego de ese horrible encuentro? De todas formas yo no vi una conexión real entre Greer y Nathan, ni cuando lo conoció en su forma humana ni cuando estaba en su forma de hombre lobo que era todo el tiempo. Greer parece perdonarlo porque estuvo cuidando a su abuelo enfermo y porque Nathan es un buen hombre.

Hay una segunda escena de sexo que claro fue consensuada pero no la sentí especial tampoco. Sentí que era para arreglar la primera.

Me hubiera gustado ver cómo funcionaba su relación con la maldición de Nathan de por medio, verlos resolver algunos conflictos y sortear algunos peligros pero su primer encuentro fue inaceptable para mí, fantasía o no. No fue necesario, podría haber tenido un estilo oscuro, con el monstruo alfa y todo sin ese comienzo tan feo, hubiera sido una historia más agradable.

Al ser una lectura corta no había mucho más, se quiso poner un poco de drama y conseguir la redención de Nathan con la aparición de un malvado cazador que iba tras Greer y eso fue todo.

El final sigue dejándome sorprendida y no el buen sentido con palabras de amor y lo feliz que está Greer con su novio hombre lobo que para ella es también como tener una mascota para acariciar y acurrucarse. Esos fueron sus pensamientos.

Me gustaba la idea de un protagonista que fuera un hombre Lobo que solo vuelve a ser humano con la luna llena. Ese detalle, la genial portada junto con el argumento fue lo que me llamó la atención y estaba muy emocionada por saber cómo se desarrollaría esta inusual historia de amor pero al final no fue para mí.

I very enjoyable short read and having brought the illistrated version, loved the images relating to the chapters. I loved Greer, I often feel as she did and like the peace of a rural retreat. She inherits her uncles cabin and visits to see if she will keep it. She starts fixing things and cleaning it up. Nathan is more wolf than man and only changes human on a full moon. He scented her and as the two meet and eventually talk, Greer learns more about her relative. That they both shared similar traits in likes and dislikes. Thier initial meeting and resulting bedroom spice, is not as planned, but the two become close. Nathan als has to deal with a potential threat towards the woman he grows to love. It was a well set story and plenty of background where needed. I loved Nathan's war with his wolf and his caring side. As you read you will learn more of his past and how it relates to Greer's uncle. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Oh wow this book was amazing! A werewolf romance that isn't just a human romance with some running around as wolves by the main characters. It's heartfelt, poignant, 🔥 🥵 and just so good! Merel Pierce writes an incredible story and I strongly recommend you pick this one up!

Merel never disappoints! I loved this introduction to her werewolf world, which is basically a version of our world but with werewolves living outside of main society. Unknown. And unloved. Until Nathan meets heroine Greer! These are real walk on two leg werewolves, not shifters. He doesn't shift into a wolf form, he's permanently a werewolf, except on the full moon, when he turns back into a man. I loved how this is flipped in her world, so he's predominantly a werewolf.

It's starts out a bit ... unexpected. He has a really wolfy side that takes over, but he protects her and her cottage and they end up understanding each other.

I loved the descriptions of the woods and how Greer is an independent woman. Nathan was a real marshmallow deep inside and I loved that too! A satisfying read.

2.5-3 Stars. TRIGGER WARNING!! ON PAGE RAPE AND BESTIALITY. The author should have put a trigger warning. The book was okay I would say a pallet cleanser. The rape knocked it down several stars as well as the lack of a warning for those who might find it upsetting. I just wish she made it a little bit harder for the guy before jumping back in bed with him. Yes it was nice of him to write her the note apologizing for raping her and coming back to talk to her in human form to apologize to her. But I would like to see more angst, like her leading and maybe him tracking her down and apologizing. I know the wolf is an animal and doesn't have emotions like that and it's Nathan's side of the beast that had remorseful emotions but if in beast form he can communicate with her then the beast side of him should have also apologized to her. I think it would have been a better book if it was just a bit longer, the rape scene was taken out and replaced with a consensual scene(make them having rough sex) in a little more angst and also throw in some more drama. There was the scene with the hunter who was planning on attacking the female character but I would have liked to seen more situations like that. Maybe run-in with other werewolves who are not happy with humans in their woods? I don't know if I'm making sense but I would like to seen a little more drama. But other than that like I said it was just a good palate cleanser.

1.50 Stars. (WW/WM). Kindle Edition 115 page novella e-b00k. This is a paranormal story where the mythology about werewolves is given a 180 degree turn. Instead of the human form of the person shifting into wolf form during the new moon for 24 hours; the opposite happens, the human is in werewolf form until the new moon. The author does not address how a person living as human one day a month is to earn wages sufficient to support his human form...buy food, clothing and a house/cabin with furnishings. The author also needs the reader to accept that a lone human, would rescue a werewolf, move the werewolf into his cabin, teach the werewolf form sign language and also provide for his human needs. The heroine, Greer, has been bequeath her uncle's cabin in the woods. Greer takes time off from her job in the nearby town to see the cabin and make the necessary minor repairs and to decide if she wants to live in the cabin permanently. Greer falls from the roof and is cared for by werewolf form Nathan and immediately raped by werewolf form Nathan. Later in the story, Greer anticipates sex with Nathan as human or as werewolf and like her uncle, she moves Nathan in with her as she works remotely from her job. I could not connect with this story.

Not your typical werewolf love story which is why it is unique in it's own way. May not be a lot of people's cup of tea for sure. I am more open minded or maybe twisted minded (depends on who is judging, LOL) that I don't mind it. I ordered the special edition ebook so my copy had the beautiful artworks of the characters (LOVED) which really brought the book to life.
