1993. When Kit meets Summer on the backpacking trip of lifetime, he falls head over heels in love, certain that what they have is much more than just a holiday romance.
On returning home, Kit is confident he'll be able to find the magical girl he met. But when he follows the clues Summer told him about her life, the person he thought he knew doesn't seem to exist.
Heartbroken that she lied to him, and with no way of contacting her, Kit moves to the Suffolk coast for a fresh start. Little does he know that Summer is living just a few miles away - and is incapable of forgetting Kit too.
But as the months pass, Kit and Summer's paths never collide. Their lives move on, and a hazy, sun-drenched summer begins.
By the time they meet, will it be too late to start again?

It was a poignant tribute to love, this book, and I liked it, although there are few things that didn't work so much for me. I mean, there came a moment that I really couldn't take more of the main characters missing each other, it was too much and too foten and I really wanted to bang my head on the wall with the millionth missed chance / at least it felt like a millionth one). Because of this the book felt slow, very slow, and also a kind of meh. It also felt repetitive and there weren't many dialogues or banter, it was more marration - focused and sometimes I just longed for a some exchange between the characters.
Nevertheless, it was a beautiful story about grief and second chances. The characters were close to life and felt realistic and had some dramatic and sad backgrounds that, probably, made them feel so firm and stable. The duel point of view was a very good idea and it worked really well.
I really enjoyed this, and as I’ve previously said about Saskia’s work, she writes in a manner that is interesting and engaging. It’s easy to remain hooked, even when her characters are doing mundane, everyday things.
For me, I found there were 2 running themes in the book: destiny and miscommunication.
The book excellently portrays how if something isn’t meant for you, it’ll never be yours. No matter how close you are, you’ll always miss it. Especially since Summer and Kit, have so many instances with near-misses. But in the end, they meet when it’s right for them.’
It is often miscommunication, or rather, repeated incorrect assumptions, that causes the issues between them, and combines to their repeated cases of being separated.
I found that frustrating, but in the best way possible. Throughout the book I was face palming at the pair for constantly assuming incorrectly and missing each other. I think all the angst made it worth it in the end.
So, whilst the book did portray individuals not being meant for each other. It also strongly portrayed individuals being meant for each other, because despite the very many near-misses, the couple reunite in the end… they were truly meant for each other.
Also, - I loved the Beautiful setting of kerala in India, it was so romantic but also so unique. I Can tell research went into it, and I appreciate Saskia’s efforts to be accurate on info.
Operen a l'Effie i acaba morint.
I just ella surt de l'aigua.

Seven Months of Summer by Saskia Sarginson is a stunningly beautiful tale of love lost and found, and one of finding yourself and figuring out what path you wish to take in life. This is a book in which the characters are so well drawn that they feel incredibly real, but be warned with that you are likely to feel all their highs and lows right along with them!
Seven Months of Summer is the story of Kit and Summer, two strangers who meet by chance whilst in India in 1993. They soon come to the same conclusion, despite not telling the other, that in each other they have found their other half. Life, however, gets on the way and they are cruelly separated. Yet when Kit returns to England to track Summer down, it would appear the person he thought he knew doesn’t exist.
Heartbroken at Summer’s lies and with no way to contact her, Kit resolves to move to Suffolk for a fresh start. Little does he know that Summer is living just a few miles away - and is incapable of forgetting Kit too. But as the months pass, Kit and Summer's paths never collide, and their lives move on. When they finally meet will it be too late to start again?
Seven Months is a beautiful story. Its foundation relies upon the idea of finding your person and the immediacy of love that follows. I know some shy away from ‘insta love’ but I think to do so here would mean missing out on what feels like a feel real connection. Kit and Summer seem like each others missing piece and I rooted for them throughout. It was heartbreaking to witness all the near misses and how life kept them from colliding. They were such real characters, each having been through some pretty heavy trauma which came to shape who they were. (There are trigger warnings to bare in mind related to this.) The duel POV worked wonderfully to tell their story.
In addition to loving both Kit and Summer I thought the secondary characters of Summer’s father Donald, neighbour Loretta, best friend Laura and Kit’s friend Blue were excellent. There are others, of course, but these were the stand outs to me. Each were so different but vital to the story in their own ways.
A beautiful romance and one not to be missed.
With thanks to Netgally and Piatkus for the advanced copy in return for my honest review.
So much more than it appears on the surface. This is one of those stories where you read the blurb and thing great, a fantastic story to while away some time, then you start to read it and get sucked into the story and the world slips away, I have read this author before and simply loved the way they bring characters to life, making them feel real and honest, not all pretty and happy, but having issues that many of us deal with, and taking life on or sometimes hiding away from it all, presenting one face and having your real one secretly away like Summer does in India. This story is so well written that it will resonate with so many people, Summer and Kit will suck you in, you will be able to see the stars with them, and then feel their physical and mental pain alongside them when they no longer see the stars. Then when they meet again, both are changed in different ways, will the magic ever come back? Well you need to read to find out, but I know you will be like me by the end confused as to what you want, but happy with the path it took.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.
I really liked the blurb of the book and was immediately drawn to the inevitable tension due to the fact that the characters go months without seeing each other. I thought it had the potential to be a beautiful love story about reconnecting with a lost lover. Although the premise is very intriguing, I unfortunately did not connect with the narrative and the characters. The writing style is easy however, at times I felt like the plot was too simple but was getting overcomplicated for no reason. It was also hard to get past the various misunderstandings in the book that would have been avoided if the characters were honest with each other. I will say that Summer and Kit are two amazing characters that are definitely meant to be. I loved that they had their sweet, happy ending. I just wish there wasn’t all the drama in between (which I know is the whole plot of the book).
Don’t be discouraged to pick up this book, I have seen countless of good reviews about this book, but I just think it was not for me
I adored this read from Sarginson, the plot is quite simple but it very effective. We start with Summer and Kit meeting and falling for each other. Then dramatic events happen in their lives that pull them apart and we follow them as they learn whether they can get back together or not. The plot is effective and kept my interest whilst also being a very emotional one. There are some very sad aspects to this, as well as happiness and laughter, Sarginson captures all the emotion perfectly and I felt everything the characters were going through. Summer and Kit are two wonderful characters to get to know and follow on their journey. I adored both of them and seeing them together made them all the more special. 'Seven Months of Summer' is the perfect, feel good read and I loved every page of it. Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for an advance copy.
In this book, we meet Kit and Summer, who fall in love on a backpacking trip. However, life had other ideas, and they were separated. They never forgot each other and always hoped they they would again, one day, meet. This book is incredibly sweet. Destiny plays a massive part in both Kit and Summer's lives. These characters are so sweet and lovable but also really real. I loved how they were together but also separately. The number of dialogues I highlighted throughout this book is crazy. They were inspirational. Also, I would like to point out that the descriptions of the locations were beautiful! I genuinely felt like I was there!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it. Thank you to the author and @piakus for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A heartfelt and bittersweet love story that takes readers on a journey of romance, deception, and the enduring power of connections made during a memorable backpacking trip. Kit's infatuation with Summer is palpable, and the initial stages of their relationship feel genuine and full of promise. However, the story takes a twist when Kit discovers that Summer might not be who she claimed to be. As Kit and Summer go their separate ways, each believing the other has disappeared from their lives forever.
A tale of missed opportunities and second chances, leaving readers pondering the question of whether fate can bring two people back together after a series of missteps. It's a novel that will tug at your heartstrings.
"1993. When Kit meets Summer on the backpacking trip of lifetime, he falls head over heels in love, certain that what they have is much more than just a holiday romance."
This was a lovely soft gentle summer read about Kit and Summer meeting for just under a week and then spending the next seven months (in fact the sum total of the book) trying to find each other again. Through lots of misunderstandings, things not said or explained, happenchance and a sprinkle of bad luck we follow Summer and Kit's journey. I guess the ending was a little predictable, but I enjoyed it nevertheless, and I found the inclusion of the hares in various parts of the book endearing.
Seven Months of Summer is a beautifully written, introspective novel with a strong sense of time and place. Saskia Sarginson crafts an emotionally charged story about love, loss, and self-discovery, with rich prose that draws you in.
However, the pacing is quite slow, and some parts of the story felt drawn out, making it harder to stay fully engaged. While the characters are well-developed, their emotional journeys could have been more compelling at times.
Overall, it’s a thoughtful and atmospheric read, but it may not be for everyone—best suited for those who enjoy slower, character-driven narratives.
A tender yet gripping story of two people who find each other, then lose each other. Saskia's characters are so real and human, you find yourself identifying with their struggle to understand their feelings and at the same time try to control them. Their journey towards themselves, and finally each other, will keep you turning the pages. Seven Months of Summer is an emotional roller coaster of a read. I cried with joy and sadness, but nobody does emotion quite like Saskia. Such a brilliant writer.
My goodness this hurt my heart. I could Summers pain in my chest throughout and Kit’s struggles. I cried at least five times because this just felt so real and so sad and so wonderful and just everything I needed.
2.75 stars Cute story but i was very annoyed with the length and it took SO long for them to unite and in the end we just had a few pages with them together it was disappointing.

3.5 ⭐️ library find! I loved how we followed their lives after leaving eachother, and it wasn’t constantly revolved around them coming back to eachother!

An ethereal and magical relationship that is abruptly halted by circumstances beyond the control of both Kit and Summer. I read this opening chapter with an impending sense of doom… Which was how I felt throughout. Both Kit and Summer Feel helpless, and somehow seem to give up despite the special nature of their time together in India.
I felt saddened by the turn of events, But even with the choices that they both made, I was praying for them to come back together…
Did it happen? you need to read the book to find out! Suffice to say, I had leaky eyes and enjoyed this somewhat meandering, yet absorbing tale of summer and Kit.
