This is a fictional tale about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Many would like NATO to intervene, and believe it’s immoral that they haven’t done so already; others think that NATO going up against Russia would be foolish because of the nuclear threat. But what if NATO had to get involved? What then…?
Nobody wanted to believe that Russia would invade Ukraine. Yet the evidence had been mounting for months that the Russians were amassing troops and weapons on the Ukrainian borders and were ready to attack. Why would the old Russian Bear start a war that could lead to an even bigger conflict? The simple power.
The world is watching, wondering what will happen next, hoping for a peaceful outcome, that more people don’t have to suffer and die needlessly, that World War III won’t become a reality.
Onboard the USS Stonewall Jackson, Captain Nathan Blake and his crew are watching and waiting too, for the signal and their next orders. They don’t want to fire the first shots in a battle with Russia; they hope it won’t come to that.
But sometimes you have no orders are orders. Sometimes when the threat is too great, you need to take it out, whatever it takes.
Join Nathan and his crew today on their next mission, The Golden Trident, where they set sail to defend Ukraine.
Stephen Makk is the author of 20 books, including the bestselling USS Stonewall Jackson Series and The Tom Hilton Series. He mainly writes thrillers about technology and the military, with hints of romance. His protagonists are male and female, playing the imperfect hands they’re dealt.
How to write like a Makk… Take the mind of a fish, any fish (he’s an experienced diver). Add an engineer, simmer for years. Sprinkle on liberal helpings of strategist, astronomer, historian and anthropologist. Bring to the boil and let loose. You need some Makk on your bookshelf!
Pretty dogone close to the real deal, given the current war going on in Ukraine! It points out once again the horrors of war and the danger a dictator can bring! It certainly makes cone wonder "what if" NATO went ahead and aggressively took the fight to Russia to bring about their surrender!
another Outstanding Book in the USS Stonewalled Jackson Series. J found it easy to follow and very hard to put down even when going to bed. I cannot wait for the next book to come out.
Very clever story from a brilliant writer in this genre. The story aligns the Russia/Ukraine conflict in spectacular fashion and I can’t say more as it would spoil the end game within the book. Clearly, in the real conflict; the end game is not in sight!
I have read all the books in order and I enjoyed them all for their characters, intrigue and unique access that the author must have for the technology!
