It’s come to this! Donnokt—no, the universe—hangs in the balance. The last true Cybertronian stands against Visitors from another world to determine the future. One shall stand, one shall fall. Find out who will be the Last Bot Standing!
The entire run was so fucking bad. It fools the reader, trying to hook him in with a promise of some grand ending to the Transformers franchise. And then it devolves into the amalgamation of the worst elements of IDW storytelling.
We have a transformer who literally looks like a rabbit fursuit, who tends to go on long philosophical ramblings, is discriminated by fellow squadmates and goes by the name "Moon". Yeah, ok. Definitely not someone's self-insert. Needless to say, this character, as all self-inserts do, goes nowhere.
The story doesnt feel like a good ending to the Transformers story, at all. It does not reflect on anything, Rodimus (or anyone, for that matter) doesnt have a character arc. Instead of somber, self-reflecting and introspectional story this was supposed to be, this is just another mid storyline that is just about robots beating the crap out of each other. Motivation of Rodimus spins around the idea that Cybertronians always destroy and do nothing else - the idea that was already thought over and resolved by the previous IDW 1 universe.
Not to mention writers forgetting their own world-building. It has been long established that unrefined, raw energon, does nothing good for you and is actually extremely toxic. But Rodimus gets to become a literal Super-Sayian (seriously, they even drew the golden "hair"), just because some unrefined raw energon got through the bullet holes in his body. Ridiculous.
Also, one of the frames is literally a trace over "Think, Mark" meme from Invincible. Amazing.
Overall, it was a massive, bitter disappointment.

This was an ok ending with some decent action. The story as a whole didn't excite me much but this final issue salvaged some of the gripes that I had with the serious. The art was good at times but nothing that stood out. Some of the names were absolutely horrible but the book was aware of that and made fun of it. All in all, this was a ho hum series with a few fun moments but at the end of the day forgettable.
