This isn’t a battle–it’s a war.

Not for fame or glory or riches, but for the good of an oppressed people–one of them being my mate.

I’ve had about enough of the Molgrove pack. All of us have. Property damage was the least of what they’ve done to us. They crossed the line when they tried to murder Lynne, a woman who hads become like my mother as well as my mother-in-law.

And now they are keeping people under a savage leader. People like my fourth mate, Stephen. Until he’s free, until all the people in their pack are free, I will not relent.

My decision is absolute. One way or the other, I’m bringing my mate back and the only way they will stop me is over my dead body. Without him, my family will never be complete.

Absolute is book 5, and the final installment in the popular Ridgewood Rogues Pack series by Mazzy J. March. It features a wolf shifter who lost one leg in a terrible accident and grew up in the foster system before finding her way to those who can help her to navigate the dangers of her past life and become a full-fledged wolf shifter and mate to four of the strongest, most loving alpha wolves in the country.

I loved this series, even thou it could be all combined into one large story. We have some mystery and suspense. Will Char ever learn not to be implosive? Can her Mates keep her safe? Will Stephen ever accept beginning her mate? Can they save their misfit pack from the Molgrove Pack? Will it be all out war with to be able to live in peace?.

This is book five and the final instalment of the Ridgewood Rogue Wolves Saga series and the main character is Char (Charlotte), who had found her way to a real home at last, with a group of misfit shifters like herself and found herself involved with her four mates Neville, Drew, Vincent and his brother Stephen. But Stephen is with the nearby Molgrove pack and she misses him. The Molgrove pack have been attacking theirs and caused damage, but that soon escalates when they take one of the pack. They had tried to assassinate their leader Lynn, the mother figure who took Char in and gave her a home and a place to work, even being happy that her own son had mated with Char. Supporting her all the way. Their pack of misfits had come together to avoid a life of war and being alone as rejects or rogues, and all they wanted was to live their lives in peace. But the Molgrove pack obviously wants war and isn’t willing to leave them in peace! Lynn refuses to be named as Alpha of their misfit pack and they all get along together but the Molgrove pack have made them wary of travelling into the woods alongside their homes, or being alone outside! Stephen comes looking for her, but he doesn’t look well and won’t tell her anything about what the other pack are doing or want. He just wants to be with her, but has to return to his origin pack.
When another woman goes missing, she is finally found badly injured and with a message for them all. The Molgrove pack’s alpha, Joshua, wants Charlotte! He wants Stephen to lure her into their pack, so he can have her for himself. He pretends that he would be willing to share her with Stephen and knows she is already mated to three others, fully, but doesn’t care. When Char goes missing, her three remaining mates go looking for her, but it is Stephen who finds her and they are soon faced by the alpha Joshua. He shows that he is certainly not what any of them thought and has been hiding a very big secret! Joshua has forced his way into the role of Alpha, but a lot of the Molgrove pack are not happy with his manner of leadership, but are rather prisoners to pack culture and unable to leave. Joshua won’t allow anyone to leave and has guarded all their lands, to keep others out, but also to stop any of his pack from leaving or getting help. He will happily destroy anything and anyone who gets in his way! A final showdown is necessary, but comes sooner than Lynn’s pack expected and the outcome is vastly different as well. Lynn’s pack will soon be overcome with shifters needing a new home, but at least Char will have her four fated mates finally under one roof, the home they have all built for her! Joshua will get what he deserves and the other pack members can decide to rebuild or join Lynn’s pack, where all are welcome. This is the last book of the Ridgewood Rogue Wolves Saga we finally get to see how it all comes together each book pretty much picks up where the last one pretty much left off Charlotte has got to be one of the strongest power houses there is doing it all with only one leg but the moment she aged out of foster home her life really begin finding her mates yep more than one making life easier to bare, creating a home with her group of unwanted, misfit shifter creating the family she never had all willing to take this journey with her for a better home. The Molgrove pack has been causing trouble attacking them creating damages that continues to escalate kidnapping where they took one of her mates but enough is enough all the pushing for a war when all they want is to live in peace. They are making it hard to live afraid to be out alone, afraid to travel through the woods the final straw is when one of their women a friend goes missing, beaten, injured with a message the alpha of the Molgrove pack will end it all if he can have Charlotte willing to use one of her mates Stephen to lure her into their pack, he could careless that she is mated to four mates already he isn’t willing to share with them he wants her all to himself so he puts his plan into motion taking Char and of course her mates go looking for her Stephen finds her but all four of them know they are going to have to face off with the alpha of the Molgrove pack but they learn he is much more evil then they thought he has imprisoned his own pack not allowing them to leave or allowing anyone in willing to kill his own pack to keep that control. So war it is because Joshua isn’t going to give Char, his pack any freedom so Lynn her pack has to fight something they don’t wish to do but oh boy when they do they learn that so many of his pack was willing to fight with them for their very own freedom but Lynn realized her misfit pack has grown because those who left Joshua’s pack wanted/needed home, Char and her boys get to finally live under the same roof all of them but will Joshua get what he deserves, will Lynn allow them to live among them meaning will they be welcome, will there be any spinoffs from some of the families who joined their pack and will they finally get their own happiness?.

A bit anticlimactic... but I don't mind the story, still

One thing that has bugged me a bit about the books is inconsistency. I've mentioned it in previous reviews, and sure enough within the first few pages, I already found a couple. First - Andrew is referred to as Drew. In previous books he was never called this (I literally just read them all today before starting the 5th again to remind myself what had happened). Also, when one person is supposedly talking, by the next paragraph it sounds like it had actually been someone else, like the author forgot who was actually speaking originally. It could just be the way it's written, but it comes off as confusing sometimes.

As for the ending... the past few books were leading up to issues with the Molgrove pack. It ends up with a fight between the two packs, somewhat, but it literally ends in 2 pages, max. The books are mostly from Charlotte's POV, and she wasn't even involved in the fight, so you don't even get much detail about it until her mates return and summarize quickly what happened.

I get these books are short (less than 100 pages each), but it still seemed way too anticlimactic.

Also, as each mate ... mates, for the first time, it becomes shorter and less described. I admit, I'm all for steamy scenes. I also get not all books have that. It just almost seems that with each mate, it becomes less important to talk about in the book. That could just be me, though.

Overall story: Pretty good. I enjoyed it, though I feel it could have been better, longer even.

Final book: A bit disappointed. Definitely could have been better written and a bit longer. It was the end to this series, after all. It seemed kind of rushed, despite me waiting for it to come out for a while.

3.5 stars, roughly.

"We were willing to pay the price of war for a life of peace."

Bringing the overarching arc of these five books to a head/ satisfying conclusion, Absolute takes a good, hard look at leadership. Whether it is Charlotte who is learning the ropes, in many ways leads her family, and may one day serve as an Alpha's mate, or her mate Neville, who by rights should be Alpha of the lack he grew up in. Then there's Lynn, who refuses to be addressed as Alpha, yet serves as an inspirational and powerful leader to an unexpected pack of outcasts. Finally, there is the Molgrove's Alpha, who we finally get the dirt on as the conflict between the packs peaks.

Equally interesting is the story of a girl who grew up without family trying to adapt and adjust to life in a pack... discovering what it can mean to have family.

I jumped into this Kindle Unlimited series midway, have really enjoyed it, and plan to go back to read the early stories I missed. I was able to follow along and stay immersed in the story as is, but can tell it is a richer story as a complete series.

A fantasy romance novella and the fifth book of series about Charlotte and her pack. She wants to save her fourth mate, Stephen. She’s a shifter that has lost one of her legs. But, her strength and determination is very commendable. I like reading about her strength. This was an entertaining short read.

The ending was.. a let down. So much building over the series about how they had to bring the other pack down and then… nothing. We got a recounting from another character about what happened while they main character sit on a hill watching things over with a binocular. Just bummed. It feels that author got tired and decided to just finish with whole thing.

Welp

So I would have liked the ending but the entire thing was told to us. This is what happens, not here is the big action sequence. So the build up was decent, but the execution was a let down.

I can't believe that this is the fifth and final book in the Ridgewood Rogues Pack saga. Charlotte continues to show her strength. This wraps up the series well; finishing the storyline especially in reference to Charlotte's fourth mate. This is a very enjoyable and entertaining series.

This last book wrapped it up perfectly. A surprise for sure on some things but not so much on others. A great final book to read.
