USA Today Bestselling Author of steamy PNR and fantasy romance.
Ever since my grandmother first handed me a Nora Roberts novel, I KNEW I wanted to write romance.
I love love. Crave it. For me, genre doesn't matter as long as there is a beautifully epic love story woven into the storyline.
Which is exactly why I chose to write across so many genres. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, suspense...no matter which of my books you choose you always know what you're getting: a love story for the ages.
And before I was an author, I was a reader! Please be sure to follow me here, or add me as a friend! I love to connect!
I’m conflicted in this review because the book is written very well, and it has all the right elements. But I’m not a huge fan of reading about the things that were done to Ember, and being an empathic person made it very difficult to not want to skip over those parts, but since there are So. Many. Of. Them. It was hard to do and still know what was going on, which only made me more upset. I really didn’t like Rafferty in this one. He doesn’t get to push her away one minute and then get mad at her for wanting to die the next. It’s sad, and filled with betrayal all around. Honestly, I felt like it was drawn out unnecessarily, with a never ending stream of villains around every corner. It was too convoluted and excessive.
I was enchanted enough to insist that I finished the story, so it’s not that the story is bad, but it is very emotional and can be difficult for sensitive readers, especially those with heavy empathy.
To be honest, if the final book is as heartbreaking as this one, I don’t know that I want to continue it. I want to hope this next book will be the one that makes this one worth it, because it’s not uncommon for the second book in a trilogy to be the most difficult in the series.
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.
1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

I am SO frustrated. This has so much potential! The storyline is fantastic. But I feel like the author missed every attempt to add depth to the story. I think that this could be absolutely epic if time was taken to really delve into the characters' thoughts and memories more. Maybe some flashbacks, and more insight. Considering how dark the story is, I did expect more. As it stands, each time something particularly dark happens, it is very jarring. I also think that the heat level could be kicked up a notch. I'll definitely finish the series, but I wish that these books were at least twice as long.
Cursed Fae picks up immediately after Accidental Fae with Ember in the woods of Dublin, sicker than ever, since time moves differently in Faerie. She gains some surprising help till she is reunited with Rafferty. This book had lots of secrets revealed and it was an emotional ride all the way till the end.
Cursed Fae is the second installment in the Fae War Chronicles written by Jessica Wayne. This dark fantasy romance is brimming with non-stop action, sizzling chemistry, betrayal, and danger.
Accidental Fae ended on a major cliffhanger and Cursed Fae picks up immediately following the events of book one. Ember was pulled through the portal back to the human world by Conary and her life is at an even greater risk. The disease rapidly progresses back home and she must survive Conary’s sinister plans. Luckily, a couple familiar faces arrive to intervene and it’s a race against time to save Ember’s life.
Rafferty was hot and cold for the entire book. One minute he was professing his undying love and devotion to Ember and the next he was pushing her away and treating her like a burden. I know that the darkness greatly affected him, but it was frustrating to keep going back and forth. I felt like Ember had to walk on eggshells. There were several times I had to take a break because I just wanted to shake Rafferty and make him realize how stupid he was acting.
This book ends on another major cliffhanger. Was it good? Yes. Did it also make me wish I had a physical copy of the book to throw? Also yes. This is a five star read, but be prepared to feel lots of emotions from sadness to anger. I’m excited for the third and final book in the series, but I suspect it is going to break my heart.
Tropes: Medium burn, fated mates, forced marriage Heat: 2/5 CW: Violence, death, grief, kidnapping, mentions of non-consensual situations.

Whew i did not see a couple of those twists coming that's for sure 😬 i can hardly put these books down wanting to keep reading to see what happens. Poor Raffe and Ember it seems everything keeps them apart.
When Ember went through the portal at the end of book one it was the man she went to dinner with that ends up saving her bcoz turns out he's just your friendly neighborhood reaper 😆 Ember finds out on her return to the human world that she's been gone for a whole year and her illness wastes no time in making up for lost time she barely makes it an hour before she's back in a hospital bed, with Rafferty going crazy in faerie the last person her expects to turn up his brother Ridley whom informs him the veil has been restored allowing them to pass through. Raffe makes it to Ember with barely enough time to save her and return her to Faerie but unlike last time she continues to whither away as the forced bond to Taranus sucks the life from her. Raffe and Ember continue to fight their feelings for each other but a night spent in hiding with the pixies changes all of that. With the rebellion back in swing with plans to bring Taranus down they don't count on the one person Raffe never expected to see again escaping out of the veil and she's not the only one as a tear is discovered allowing banished and imprisoned fae to escape. Suddenly they have more than one issue to deal with with the clock running out, will Raffe be able to save Ember b4 the bind steals her or will the darkness growing inside him finally take over once and for all.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book *almost* as much as the first one. The twists and turns and surprises continue in this second book of the trilogy. It picks up where the first book left off with Ember deciding to take herself out of play for the sake of Faerie. Okay... now to somehow convey my excitement without spoiling things.
Firstly: Ember seems a lot more hopeless in this one. For absolutely good reasons, but due to this she was missing some of her sparks I loved about her in the first one. She absolutely has her moments still, just not as many =. So be prepared for that. Again, for ABSOLUTELY good reasons.
Secondly: Raffe... again do I need to elaborate? This tortured fae is magnificent in all his broodiness mixed with the "I can't touch you because you are technically married to my brother even though I really want to". So he has some darkness in him? How bad can it really get?!
Thirdly: Some of the characters I wish I saw more of from the first book come back and boy do they change the trajectory of the story in the best and worst ways.
Lastly: You guessed it. It ends on a cliffhanger. A good one that will leave me on the edge of my seat until the last book is out.

1st reading: This one barely had a plot to begin with... Like, the plot didn't make an appearance until the latter half of the book. It seemed to do little more than alternate between "oh, I'm dying, you should just kill me" and "I want her, but I'm no good for her; I must stay away." Good grief. At least the start of one chapter acknowledges how shit Ember's luck is; that was amusing. The death of Taranus (much like the death of Conary) is a let-down. Both of them seem to have been set up for major death scenes - so many people want them dead - that for them each to go so quickly was a bit of a shock. And Finn - okay, we knew he was on his way out, and yes, he did die a hero's death, but again, one would think maybe his exit would have earned more screen time. Obviously I knew that Ember wasn't human, but Walter's role was kind of a surprise. So now the Big Bad is Rafferty's crazy X? And Rafferty himself? Again, partially struggling with whether to continue or not, but I guess I need to see this through now.

What an awesome series. I am loving it. It has all the good stuff from faerie. Pixies, Ancients, witches and many other creatures as well and evil faerie rulers. The author did a fantastic job with the world building along with an amazing plot. This is another one for the favorites list. When Ember fled back to the human realm believing it would end all of faerie' issues and restore peace. It did not. When Terranus, Rafferty's brother the evil king was killed by Ailys, a new evil queen came to rule. Rafferty was on the dark side after watchimg Embers death and worked for Winter the queen. He had turned on all who lived in faerie and was not the same at all. What he didn't know was that because of Embers heritage, he was in for a huge surprise. Ember had been a prisoner, a forced mate, a victim and she had enough. She would take charge and it would be a fight but she was determined to get her mate back and she would make Ailys pay. Such a page turner with all sorts of twits & turns. I can't wait to see what happens in book 3.
You thought Taranus was bad you have no idea how crazy evil Ailis is. Raffe should have suspected when she claimed to be his mate yet, was with other guys. No one else's mate ever did that! Also if she was in the veil suffering why didn't Raffe suffer & feel her pain? If one dies they both die, why wouldn't they both feel each others pain. He mentions he feels a stronger pull to Ember than he ever did to Ailis. All these signs should have added up. Plus he should have known with the stakes so high multiple people would want to stop their union. Towards the end you find out what was really killing Ember. Which makes me wonder why Walter didn't contact Delaney Astor to see if she could help unbind her ancestors spell? It would have been worth a shot. Or did Walter just expect to be there when she died & wait for her to return? Not going to tell you from where or what that means you just have to read the book!
Cursed Fae is the second book in Rafferty and Ember’s story. So much happens in this book! The book begins right where the last left off. Ember has been dragged back to the human realm and Rafferty is left in fairy wondering what is happening to her. Ember has got to be an unlucky person. She is either dying because of her “disease” or her bond, she has been kidnapped multiple times and of course there is her and Rafferty, who will make you feel so frustrated because they are both so stubborn. There is a lot of other things that happen in this book. Plenty of revelations, lots of fighting, some new Fae characters and some familiar characters make an appearance. This was an incredible read that I devoured in one day. Can’t wait for the next!
What just happened? Seriously the book is not a book 2 in a series. This feels more like a fast paced finale until you get to the end and the cliff hanger makes you realize you’re not even close to done.
Jess has built an amazing world filled with a cast of characters you love and become fiercely protective of. Ember’s journey back from the bring of death is a struggle that really gives her a chance to shine and grow into the strong woman that will burn the world down for the man she loves.
I can not wait for the actual finale in the next book!
If you’re a fan of great world building, imperfect heros, hilarious pixies, and a steamy love story, you will love this book!
Ember’s story continues in the human realm while Rafferty is completely distraught in the Fae realm. When they reunite, the sparks between the two of them grow into a roaring fire. Ember soon realizes that her illness/bonding is taking all of her strength and she may not make it much longer. What will happen to Rafferty if she dies? Answers will be revealed about her mysterious illness/past and they are epic! I loved the appearance of VHC characters🥰 Can’t wait for book 3!
•Received an ARC for an honest Review* Accidentally Fae is a fabulous opening for a series that I had to read the second one. Cursed Fae is a fantasy romance novel that takes you on an exhilarating ride. This one is even better than the first one and I honestly can’t wait for the 3rd one to come out. Left me on ANOTHER cliffhanger and I need to know moreeeeee 😫
Oh, my poor heart!!! 💔😭 Full of action, unexpected twists and turns, and heart-wrenching moments, this brilliant installment will enthrall you from start to finish, and will leave you jaw-dropped and heart broken after that cliffhanger! 😩😭 Ember and Raffe are just so freaking perfect, I love them and need them to be happy and together... Will they? 🥺 I NEED the next book NOW!!! 😍🖤
This book destroyed me! The feels and emotions i went trough reading it killed me. I.felt.everything. Its one heck of a journey and i cannot wait for book three!
It is not over. Ember is coming for Raffe. That girl is FIRE 🔥 and nothing will stand on her way.
This middle child has plenty of snarky moments, but also, there are epically heartbreaking scenes as well. The twisted turns were cleverly layered in. I'm anxious to begin the series conclusion, so this review is super short. Ta! I'm off to Faerie to see just how Ember will bring her man back from the darkness. Stuff is about to go down!
I love how fierce Ember is! Even though she is constantly at deaths door. She doesn't gaf! I knew from the beginning how the end would turn out and what she was, so no surprise there...but I'm so excited to read thr next installment as soon as it's available.
Whew! My heart is beating hard after this one, and I’m not sure if I want to be pi**ed off or sad! And what an eye opener about Wally! So. So ready for Fire Fae!
What a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. I'm glad Ember and Rafferty made some strides in their relationship. The discoveries Ember made along with expanding this world is entertaining. We even get a few cameos, which are awesome.
Book 2 carries on after Accidental Fae. OMG I’m loving this series. Jessica is amazing. So easy to read. I feel sorry for Rafferty he is going through some stuff in this book. You get to know more about Ember’s past. I didn’t see that coming 😱
After the way Jessica Wayne ended the first book I honestly had no idea what would happen but then again that seems to be a habit with her books as she writes them that well you’ll just be wondering how she’ll make the next book follow on from the previous one. This book was just as incredible as the first one and honestly I wasn’t expecting half of the events that took place to happen. Jessica is so good at bringing her stories to life and creating the amount of twists that keeps her stories never ending but worth the read, and this literally had everything you could ask for. I loved how everything carried on and honestly I was shocked at how things progressed as the story went on and I found myself enjoying every minute of it. I thought that the characters and how they grew over the course of the story was pretty incredible as they have developed so much since the beginning and I found myself more draw to them both as they just suited each other so well. Don’t get me wrong, at times I wanted to bang their heads together because they were being pains, but still everything worked perfectly from what I read. I honestly did feel a lot for Ember because it wasn’t exactly nice what she was going through and then there’s the fact that she stumbles upon so many secrets in this book that you can’t help but wonder why she doesn’t go off on a murderous streak. I couldn’t fault this at all and I loved every minute, Jessica did a great job as per usual and I was hooked from beginning to end. I’m just now excited to get my hands on the next instalment because I have no clue what’s going to happen because yet again Jessica was cruel to us with the ending, but it wouldn’t be one of her books if she wasn’t cruel. I’d recommend giving this a read because once you start reading Jessica’s books, you’ll be gripped and not want to put them down.
Ember tried her hardest to do the right thing for everyone, yet instead of managing to find a way to get back to her world and be able to die in peace, fate had other plans and now she’s been kidnapped by one of Taranas’ men but instead of him following Taranas’ orders he’s taken things into his own hands and is on the verge of hurting her and making her his puppet. However, someone comes along and stops him just in time and saves her, but when she realises that he’s some kind of reaper, she is so unsure of everything she has ever known. Meanwhile, Rafferty is determined to find Ember and bring her back to safety because he can’t bear the thought of any harm coming to her. So when it becomes apparent that there’s more to Ember’s one friend that she actually knows, he goes on guard because he can’t make out if he is one to be trusted. With secrets set to be revealed they are sure to have an effect on everyone around, but will they be able figure a way to break the bond between Ember and Taranas’??? Or are they set to be doomed and for Rafferty to lose Ember for good??? Will Ember’s disease take over and kill her off for good or will they figure out a way to slow the process??? What will happen when another threat appears out of nowhere??? Will they be able to stop it???
Ember has been dragged forcefully through the veil by Conary, Taranus' head guard. As she is back in the human realm, she immediately falls down and is, once again ceased by her previous ailments with the nausea and the pains associated with it. That has the result of landing her in the hospital where she learns that she has been gone for more time than the two weeks she initially thought she was absent. She needs Raffe but remembers why she chose to go back to the human realm. Raffe is honor bound not to touch her even if he wants her so bad that he can't stand it. He finds a way to get to her realm and take her back to Faery thinking that the slowing of time will give them more time and settle both their cursed.
The book is so good that I don't dare give too much of the plot, preferring to let other readers enjoy reading this great story sequel by themselves.
This author was unknown to me before I read the first book in this trilogy. She has jump from unknown to me to one of my favorites. Why? She is the type of author that was given a gift. This gift is applied 100% in this series. She is able to create a story and then a sequel to the story that virtually takes the reader on an adventure filled with Action, Treachery, Life, Death, physical abuse, Torture, Love in the purest sense and , the immense courage off a young woman who was diagnosed with a terminal illness but refused to lower her arms in defeat.
The book is so well written that it approaches situations leading to disgusting behaviour by evil persons of both sexes through the eyes of the victim with her accounting silencing the version of the evil garbage . I highly recommend this book and, if I could rate it 10 Stars I would do it gladly. However 5 Stars is the maximum allowed and the author gets them all. I look forward to reading the rest of this trilogy.
Wonderful second book in this series, fast action filled magic and mayhem read This has been a wonderful read which I enjoyed from start to finish and you like me will no find that once you begin reading that once you begin you will not be able to pot down until you reach the finale and discover what the outcome will be. This story was a magical read that was full of magic and mayhem, murder and lots and lots of dangerous intrigue which will keep you guessing to the perpetrators of these circumstances which Ember and Rafferty the main characters of this simply wonderful read. Ember’s character is simply wonderful it shows a woman with such amazing inner strength, she is willing to fight for herself and those around her to ensure they survive. Her strength of character and fight for survival is a constant awe-inspiring event throughout the book. I am sure that other readers will feel as enthused about this read and I am sure without a doubt that like me you will find yourself totally blown away, the characters and the plot have been written so wonderfully. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Ember's story continues as she ends up back in the human realm with its seeming death sentence. While she was in the fae realm, she had to fight for each step she took, each moment she survived, but she didn't feel the end as strongly. Now that she's in her home realm again, that threat becomes very real. As if being sick wasn't enough, she also has to deal with the bond she has with Taranus draining her strength dry. Rafferty refuses to give up on her though, fighting his way back to her, resisting the voice that tells him she isn't long for this life, no matter which realm she's in. As fate continues to stack the deck against them, they are faced with new evils at each turn, and her death may not be the worst to come.
That cliffhanger though... This story is as unpredictable as it is exciting, and it had me on the edge of my seat from the first scene. Each moment is choreographed to bring the most intensity to the story, and I could not have predicted the ending to this second in the trilogy. How this one is going to end is anyone's guess, but I'm sure it will be with as much flair as the books leading up to it.
Oh my god! How many different ways can you think of to say this book is beyond brilliant and if you love fae books but don’t read this series you will regret it for the rest of your life?! I’m totally serious when I say that because this series is one of the very best I have ever read. This is 100% a series and can not be read as a standalone. I thought the first book was amazing and unbeatable and then I read this! What can I say? You have to read this book if you love fae books of any kind. I refuse to put spoilers in my reviews because I feel it does exactly what it says! It spoils the book for that person. However I will rave constantly about how brilliant it is, how many unexpected twists there this time, one major one I had already guessed though and I’m so glad I was right. Now all I need is for the next book to come out so Ember can save everyone and everything she cares about. 100% recommend this book.

The writing is fantastic, but Rafferty and Ember make little sense to me as a couple. They don't communicate well; they insult each other, and don't get me started on the mind games! Too much of, "I want you. Come closer. No! Stay away! We shouldn't be together," if you ask me. Their relationship was borderline toxic.
I was really hoping that
So I might not care much for Rafferty, but Sullivan still gets an A+ from me! Ember could be annoying at times, and the whole Wally side story was weird—it came out of NOWHERE. But I am interested in seeing where the author goes with this. 3.75 stars.
