Lily White is out of my league, but that's not going to stop me. From USA Today Bestselling and Amazon Top 15 Author Ivy Wild comes a story about your first love and your first lie.
Lily: The first time I met Tyson Stone, he gave me a bloody nose. He didn’t mean to hit me, he was fighting this other kid, but let's just say I'd take the pain of his fist over his cruelness any day of the week. Five years after this incident, and I'm in his shark tank. His domain. His kingdom. His prep school. Freefalling for him is a recipe for disaster, but that's what happens nonetheless. Then he starts pushing me away for no reason, but there's one thing he forgets. I'm not one of his disposable flings. I'm worthy, I'm a catch, and if he doesn't realize it...well, then his arch-enemy will. Dating the guy he hates the most could backfire. But I've always been good at playing with matches.
Tyson: My life is a series of calamities strung together by blood and bad press. Wherever I go, trouble follows. Now, normally I'm not a charitable guy, but when I pass on Lily White's delectable body, it is entirely for her own good. Call me an altruistic jerk, but I just don't want to see her hurt. That's until she starts dating the guy I loathe more than anything else in the world. That's when all bets are off. We’re playing a dangerous game, she and I. The rumors are starting to swirl, and so are some dangerous thoughts about what I can do to her. Lily White is out of my league, but apparently, that’s not going to stop me.
A Vicious Rumor is a complete standalone and HEA! Tropes include: fake dating, cheating, coming of age, friends-to-lovers, and enemies-to-lovers
Style: Romance (High School) Story: 2/5 Enjoyment: 2/5 Dark Level: 0/5 Sexual Level: GOOD Triggers: No Violence: Yes Male: Loner & Always Angry Series: Book 1 Pages: 374 Audio: N/A Kindle Unlimited: Yes
STORY: WHAT I LIKED: I like what the concept of the story was and the fake relationship for revenge. Tyson was very moody and angry throughout the book and although popular, very much the loner. Lily was sweet, but definitely did not make the best choices. However, those choices are what created this roller coaster of emotions and drama.
WHAT WAS SO SO: The events and how they took place was not jiving with me. I completely understood what the author was trying to accomplish the first half of the book and then the second half, but it wasn’t believable for me. The first half which was the first 50%, did not feel as exciting for me. I was fighting the DNF energy. Tyson was a hurricane. He was always angry with everyone, but yet, I still wasn’t pulled in all the way and it was very tame. The first half had a build up between Tyson and Lily as they reconnected many years later.
The second half, no build up. The dynamics that occur was not believable with Lily, her change in persona and her plans to get back at Tyson for rejection, it was a day or two later and plan was executed. Both Tyson and Lily were a hot mess with their revenge and feelings that created the drama. I actually felt a pulse from what I was reading with them both messing around secretly because their chemistry became more intense in those periods. I can’t tell if Lily had growth from our first few encounters with her, because she was in a fake relationship that came with a fake new image and personality.
The book title is A Vicious Rumor, but do not believe that that title is fitting. The rumors came at around 75% of the book, so the life span of the rumors was not long, or I could be mistaken. Also, I wanted to note, somethings did not feel completed. Tyson and his dad, so many things were brought up but no conclusion and the same with his real mom. I did not like that Scissors aka Zachary, had kind of similar-ish story. The ending felt quickly done so I would have liked to see a epilogue of them actually being together and experience them being together. I liked what the story was about, but with my personal preference, it was ok-ish for me. With that being said, this does not mean it will not be to some else’s liking, still give it a try.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY Their first sex scene was ok. However, after was way better. I think it was the whole messing around in secret that added to it as well.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: I honestly didn’t get the Triad concept. Paper seem to have so much power in that group and I did not understand why, I think it was for his connections but he seemed to be the leader. Paper and Scissors were some what cool with Tyson aka Rock but it’s like they were also enemies, mainly Scissors. You had your mean girls to add to the story, but to be honest, to balance things out a little, I wish Lily was given a close friend throughout the story. She mentioned a girl with glasses in a corner that was a loner that reminded her of her old self and thought that would have went somewhere, but it didn’t.
OVERALL: Was I entertained? Not all the time. Did I like the story? Yes, the plot, but not how it played out. Would I read the other books in the series if there are any? Not sure.

NOTES:
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Friends to enemies to lovers, she from the less financially prosperous side of town and he from wealth, Lily and Tyson encounter each other as children. Lily had intervened to stop this troubled boy from beating up another. They discover an affinity and commonality that only the two, even from divergent backgrounds, share because she sees him. Lily gives Tyson a keepsake which he never removes and is thematic the entire story.
There was a lot to love about this story. Lily was sweet, kind, and perceptive, so into and fully accepting of Tyson. Tyson was the broody, bad boy wrestling -- he was a fighter too -- with a lot of inner turmoil, a character that never seemed to have experienced much love -- until he met Lily. But the path to love can be rocky, and this one certainly was. And Tyson, "Rock" of the elite triad, made choices, took turns charted for destruction, even while always wanting Lily. Lily was left to seemingly scheme. But all is fair in love and war, especially at the advice of the spunky older person Lily visits weekly at a retired home.
Lots of juicy jealous possessiveness to be savored while discovering the unexpected backstories to key characters. A theme of more than surface appearance pervaded this story wrapped around some plot twists. Besides Lily and Tyson's made-for-each other relationship, their personalities, and all the character interactions (good and bad), I liked the gradual, intense pealing away of the plot until its climatic reveals. I didn't consider the story particularly dark.
Not the spiciest story but I appreciated not unnecessarily slow burning their obvious attraction. I would have loved more spice though since these characters shared a passionate dynamic that could have benefitted more steam. Great progressive pace.
Some loose ends, which I'm hopeful will be closed with other books in this world: What of Tyson's mother? What became of Zachary "Scissors" and what of his relationship with his father? I would love stories featuring Scissors and Lucas "Paper."
There was quite a big production about condom wearing that was distracting to the little steam enjoyed in the story. Also, at times Tyson was complaintive rather than misunderstood and burdened, with a lot of the inner monologue. I really didn't care for the comparisons of the preferential "rich" town against the portrayal of the downtrodden, poor neighborhood, apparently real neighborhoods. I can't imagine how someone from the latter would have felt reading this. Still, Lily who was depicted as a beautiful soul, lived there, so there was that.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I liked its romantic suspense and romantic style. Something different than the usual. I would be interested in reading more in this world.
This is my first book by Ivy Wild and this is a sort of enemies-to-lovers high school romance featuring our main characters Tyson and Lily.
It's sweet and angsty. Lots of push and pull elements in the storytelling, and I enjoyed every minute of it! Ergo I am looking forward to reading more by this author! 🖤
Who doesn't love an angsty romance? I know I am a sucker for them; especially when you have two characters that you know are meant for each other. The physical, emotional, and mental connection that Lily and Tyson share is strong. A Vicious Rumor will have romance readers swooning for Lily and Tyson.
Although Tyson may come off at times as a bully, he is like a diamond. Rough exterior but a vibrant soul inside. Lily was able to see this about Tyson. As I was so invested in these two, this was a quick read for me. Fans of Ivy will really enjoy this book.
Here are a couple of my favorite passages. When Lily asks Tyson if he believes in souls. He says:
"I do. I believe that sometimes when two people meet, their souls connect without their physical selves knowing. It's the type of connection that doesn't need physical touch to grow."
"I think that's what happened between you and me. Something deep down in you spoke to something deep down in me."
There is this last line from the book where Lily says:
"Together we are stronger and more beautiful in our broken places."
4.5 stars!!! Think of this book as everything high school! Drama, drama, drama! When everything so little seems so uber in the eyes of youngsters, especially for their first love, first kiss, first everything. Tyson and Lily come from two different worlds, each one living "at the other side"... And yet, they could only be their true selves when they were with one another. This was young love with all that it entails, the pure parts and the ugly parts. I wish we got to know the two some more, there was so much to them and i hope we get to see them again in future books. (on another note, the two side characters provided a nice teaser of what is to come, and i can't wait to read their stories)
A Vicious Rumor by Ivy Wild is simply true young love at its finest. You just can’t help but root for them from the first moment and hope for the rest. Tyson’s first kiss of Lily represented everything I have ever loved of their story. It is involuntary, unplanned, and natural. Moreover, It is guttural. He just can’t help it. A Vicious Rumor is an emotional journey that digs deep into the harsh and unrealistic expectations of society from teenagers and how judgmental we can all be. I’ve truly enjoyed reading about Tyson and Lily, and if there would be a story about Paper, I would definitely one-click that one, too.
A Vicious Rumor is a delectable high school romance that will utterly consume you from the very first page. The story follows Tyson Stone and Lily White as high school seniors but flips back in fourth between past and present, past being when Tyson and Lily first met as children and their souls connected in an unforgettable way. Tyson is a rebellious loner with a love of fighting and Lily is from other side of the tracks, she’s kind, patient and understanding and when they reconnect again after all those years, their connection is stronger than ever but Tyson decides to try and sever it and push her away for good. As fate will have it, Lily ends up at Tyson’s prep school and is now dating the person he hates the most. The lines get blurred, feelings get hurt, emotions run wild and the spice is HOT!
Ivy has an amazing ability of making her characters come alive and tell a story in a raw and unforgettable way. I love all the angst and drama and I feel like the plot had a perfect balance of everything I like to see in a book! I could not put this book down!
Possesive/Alpha Hero Virgin heroine Dual Pov High school spicy romance
Honestly this book was so hard to rate because there are literally some parts of the book that I thought were awful then some parts of the book I really enjoyed. So, it’s really difficult to determine what outweighed what in regards to the rating.
Here’s some of the things I didn’t like: The characters were 17 yet tried to act like they were the adults over the parents but typically had the mentality and behaviors of a teenager. (Book would’ve been better if they were 18, idk something about smut in books where they’re underage doesn’t sit right with me.)
Next, The entire rock, paper, scissors thing. Stupid, couldn’t come up with anything better?
Then, and this is a spoiler so stop reading this review if you plan to read the book. But how paper ended up being the most decent character at the end and randomly his dad was a crime lord… “jk he’s not dead I just say that because he needs to be like a ghost for his job” ya ok buddy.
Honestly, I definitely can’t come up with nearly as many things I liked about the book as I disliked. But I’m still not willing to decrease it from 3 stars bc of Ronny 😂
Wow, talk about a page-turner! A Vicious Rumor by Ivy Wild was a wild ride and I'm still having a touch of anxiety over it.
Lily and Tyson's first meeting is a collision of sorts (literally), but it's when they meet again five years later, their worlds collide in an entirely different way. Brokenhearted, Lily seeks revenge by dating Tyson's frenemy, and all bets are off as these two start playing a dangerous game of deceit.
Now, I have some mixed feelings on this one...First off, yes, it is definitely a page-turner. And yes, the angst is high with this one. But I just found myself getting so frustrated with these two! Like to the point of actual anxiety -- I just wanted to reach through the pages and talk some sense into both of them! I really liked both Tyson and Lily in the beginning, but I found myself losing some respect for Lily along the way. Although Tyson made some pretty bad decisions, I still felt like I understood him and my heart broke for him a bit. I could see some of Lily's reasoning too, but I just wanted her to be more true to the version of her that we saw in the beginning of the book, and I felt like she lost herself along the way.
It was a long and bumpy road for this couple, and I was starting to question if they'd find their HEA at the end, but it was definitely worth the ride.
TITLE: A Vicious Rumor GENRE: New Adult Romance AUTHOR: Ivy Wild TROPE: High School Romance TYPE: Standalone POV: Dual POV MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
Broken, that is how I would describe Tyson Stone (Rock), and in one random accidental moment, he met Lily and found a calming connection with her even though they were worlds apart. Lily White naturally seems to see the best in people, almost like she sees into their souls; she connects with people on a deeper level naturally. Lily sees the hurt in Tyson even when he is hurting other people to deal with his anger.
A Vicious Rumor is full of High School drama/pettiness, with teenagers finding who they are and what they want. The story is captivating and action-packed, leading up to the HEA. It was a quick, easy and enjoyable read which I am giving a 4 / 5 Stars rating.
A Vicious Rumor, Is an absolutely emotional read, they are so well-matched, perfectly, imperfect people.
All sharp edges and gooey centres, that look past the broken pieces, and are full of sexual tension will good dose of sass. Their so much back and forth, and that brings out so much tension.
Fast paced, intriguing and full of heart A Vicious Rumor is a captivating read.
With perfectly broken and wholly human characters and an action packed, twisted storyline that kept me on my toes, this was a wonderful story of connection, self worth and perseverance, highlining the beauty in all of our broken pieces and the scars that tell our stories. I can't wait for the rest of the Tryad's stories.
I can honestly say this story broke my heart and put it back together. I am in love with Rock and Lily. Their story holds a special place in my heart and I have no words for how amazing Ivy’s writing. It took my breath away and made me feel like I was inside with the characters. So so good!!!
I really enjoyed the story, it's sexy, angst and passionate, Tyson and Lily have great chemistry, it jumps off the page every time they're together, but Tyson wants to cut Lily out of his life because he doesn't want to see her hurt.
I love how overprotective Tyson is of Lily, he protects her even from himself, Lily is so sweet, I love her and the way she deals with her life. I love the push and pull between them.
This is a great story with tension, angst and many feelings
A Vicious Rumor by Ivy Wild. Now this is the first book I've read by Ivy, and she did not disappoint. A good plot, fast-paced and intense.
Tyson meets Lily in their younger years because of an accident. Years later and in high school, he sees her again and the tension and angst is all there.
I loved reading Lily's character development. Their pasts catch up to them and effects them in every way but good.
It was okay. The first half was alright and then I got aggravated. Lily was cool - she seems strong mentally/spiritually but then gets her feelings hurt and does a 180. I get stuff like that happens irl but I just wasn't feeling it

A Vicious Rumor is a high school, bully-ish romance. It is a complete standalone that does end with a happily ever after. The story focused on Tyson Stone and Lily White.
Tyson is filled with bitterness and resentment. He's also lonely and lost. He hates his family who have done nothing but disappoint him. He also hates his classmates, and even his "friends." Part of that is because he's misunderstood and he doesn't know how to communicate without anger.
Lily is the light and goodness people crave and need more of in the world. She's selfless, caring, kind, optimistic, and so much more. I really liked her Zen nature. Didn't like when she tried changing herself though.
This book had a lot of potential but ended up being just OK. It was a little out there and I felt there were a lot of holes or pointless moments in the story. Their immaturity fit since they were high schoolers, but the parenting surely didn't.
There was a lot that didn't make sense. Like Tyson's dad and Coco. How they came to conceive Tyson just didn't sit right. Like it was just swept under the rug. It was gross. And then Coco's story about how her pregnancy went down. But then we never see her again after that. What happened to her? Why bother having her in this book? Also there were hints to Tyson's dad using drugs? What happened with that? You don't just randomly use drugs without having issues. We never even see Tyson actually mend his relationship with any of his family. Where was Lily's dad? Tyson and Lily's sex scenes didn't make sense either...not realistic at all. The Scissors bomb drop was not creative and is repeating history. I also didn't understand the Triad club. Also, Ronny's advice sucked and made not a single lick of sense.
With that being said, I did find the story to be entertaining, easy to read, and loaded with angst. Also, there was a nice plot twist with Paper. There was the whole second chance and fighting for their love concept going on as well. I don't think we've seen the last of these two. I'm guessing Scissors and Paper will be getting their own books as well.
A tormented story on how love can be painful before it becomes an healing balm.
YA college drama, misunderstanding and lack of communication, these two youngsters need to face reality, learn and few hard truths to finally bloom into adulthood and be ready to size what’s rightfully theirs.
Ms Wild has all the ingredients to make a delicious book, shame she doesn’t mix them in the right way to produce something tasty. The plot lacks structure, some loose ends needs to be tied up as well, the narrative pace is a tad slow with too many descriptions on things not linked to the story, I wished for the characters to be more developed and have more depth, the sequence of the events also needs some attention and more cohesion. After having read the whole book I’m also still missing the reference of the title to the story.
Tyson isn’t just angry, he’s out to set the world on fire and burn anyone in it. He has his own reasons for being that way, unfortunately he comes across as whiney and quite dense, he’s wallowing in his pity party and his dislike for everyone makes it difficult to connect to him. I would have liked to spend more time in his mind and get to know him, unfortunately we only get some grunts and free hate for everyone around him.
My first impression on Lily was positive, I liked how she was different from the others, she believes in her individuality and has a good heart. However her personality is rather limited and it looses shines as the story progress. It’s not clear who she is, her persona is left to chance and unfortunately my fondness for her didn’t progress .
Two side characters really caught my attention, I was particularly attracted to one of them. In fact Luca (aka Paper) really seems an intriguing, mysterious specimen. I hope the author decides to give both of them voice and substance, I see so much potential that could birth something juicy.
"Every now & then I delve into the N/A or Y/A world & honestly it seems I am rarely disappointed. What I take away from these stories mostly is that I am ever so thankful I grew up in the era I did!! But having said that Ivy really does know how to bring the angst & all the twists & turns. Tyson comes across as a bit arrogant & entitled, whilst he is that - thanks largely to his environment, he is so very much more than what he shows the world. The person he is when he is around Lily is his true self. Being disappointed left, right & centre from everyone else in his life who should be doing better as people themselves, plays a big part on how he not only views the world but how he treats others at times. Reading him evolve as a character made this book for me. And the wonderfulness that is Lily made this into the 5 star rating that I gave it. Fingers crossed ""Paper"" ends up with his own story in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. " ~Sharon
A Vicious Rumor is the first book by Ivy Wild that I have had read, and I enjoyed ever page. I loved reading and following Tyson and Lily's emotional story. Meeting for the first time as kids they see each other again years later in High School. Both broken by their past experiences they discover how much stronger they can be. I will be looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. ~Dawn
Not your typical bully romance. This is a coming of age, soul-mate love story.
Tyson "Rock" Stone is the school's bully. His life is basically a mess, but his one shining light is when he met a girl named Lily White. She saw something more in him than just the broken boy he is and for the first time in his life he felt like more than just the mess and mistake that he is currently called.
Tyson doesn't make friends, he doesn't connect with anyone in his life, so when he meets Lily his entire world lights up. However, he quickly realizes that his messed up life could tarnish hers so he pushes her away. This actually changes the trajectory of their relationship and sends Lily down a different path.
Lily strikes a deal with Zachary "Scissors" King, one of Tyson's arch nemesis. That deal is supposed to bring her back into Tyson's life, instead it only seems to tear them further apart. She begins to wonder if the tears in their relationship can ever be repaired and perhaps she misread how close they actually were.
Their story is angsty and full of bumps, but has lots of bright highlights too. I love Lily's relationship with the seniors at the senior center and Luca "Paper" is super intriguing, also if you've noticed the theme of the nicknames; Rock, Paper, Scissors - yes there is a meaning behind those, but I'll let you discover it for yourself.
I really enjoy just about every story Ivy Wild creates and this one is no exception. While the characters are a bit different than her usual and a little younger than I usually go for I still really enjoyed it.
Tyson AKA Rock is a mess, he all over the place both in life and in his emotions. He has been kind of handed a raw deal. He's a trouble maker with a solid reason but it gets in a lot of tight spots. One of those times he meets Lily. Another of those times is sent to the "other side" of town for the summer where he runs into Lily.
Lily is a sweet girl, she wants to help and has a different world view than Tyson. She also is a calm in the storm. I really enjoyed her coming of age journey.
These two are clearly meant to be together and I just love the way Ivy has woven their stories. As always well done and can't wait to see what happens with Paper and Scissors down the road. I love just about every story Ivy Wild comes up with and this story is not exception. I do feel like this was a bit different from what I usually read from her. Mostly because the characters are younger than usual and its a bit younger than I usually go for, but Ivy Wild wrote it so I am here for it.
This story was exactly like the name said, A Vicious Rumor. Ivy Wild pulled at my heartstrings with this! I would say that this is one of my favorite May reads. A Vicious Rumor is a standalone book. I really liked the way Ivy Wild wrote this! Its got a valley girl, Clueless, California vipe about it, which you would think would be annoying but its not. It goes good with the story.
Y'all, Tyson Stone!? Just bless his heart. Through this whole book I just wanted to give him a big hug and tell him everything would be ok. Tyson is what you would call a troubled bad boy, who feels like he don't belong anywhere.
And Lily, I loved Lily! She just gets Tyson, from the first time they meet when there little. Lily doesn't come from money. She first met Tyson on a school field trip that was combined with the prep school and the public school kids. Lily is a sweet and caring person who likes to be there for the people who needs help.
I can't recommend this book enough! A Vicious Rumor is just a beautifully written story.
I adored this book, and its merry band of flawed and compelling characters. Tyson is a young man whose world has been "rock"ed far too many times in his 17 short years on earth. His family business is a sinking ship. The woman he thought was his mother abruptly leaves, and never looks back after revelations as to his parentage come to light, and his father can't be bothered to relate to him, or show him the affection and love he's so desperately in need of. Feeling abandoned, and very angry, he's a man on a mission against the world, until a sweet and intuitive young girl breathes some sunshine into his bleak existence. Their path to forever is more rocky, than smooth and straight. Lily and Tyson made me want to wrap them each up in a reassuring hug,and never let go. I thought their story was brave and sweet. I also enjoyed each and every side character ,and their roles in this story as well. Namely,Paper and Scissors. *Paper being the dark horse...I can't wait to see more of him in future installments.*
Every now & then I delve into the N/A or Y/A world & honestly it seems I am rarely disappointed. What I take away from these stories mostly is that I am ever so thankful I grew up in the era I did!! ARC Review of A Vicious Rumor by Ivy Wild * * * * * Lily and Tyson's first meeting was really not ideal - he in thr middle of a fight and she trying to stop it only to have her nose broken. But that was the beginning of them, and when they reunite years later, he finds her to be the most perfect person. She is not fake. She is not plastic. She is not a toxic person. She is real. However when Tyson tangles himself up in a mess of questionable actions, the only thing he can think of to make sure Lily never gets hurt by the people lingering in the shadows and those around his life...is to push her away. Lily is not a meek little girl however. She wants Tyson to have a taste of the sting and bitterness she feels. So she teams up with the most unlikely person to make him jealous...for a price of course. Great read!
I had really high hopes for this book and love the author, however my hang ups were too immense to get past. Spoilers ahead beware.
Spoiled, mad, rich kid with a Dad who cares but made mistakes, so his kid treats him like dirt. He fights everyone because he can. Everyone is beneath him even though his Dad isn’t rolling in money but still drives an expensive vehicle. Tyson has a jeep he didn’t pay for and acts entitled. He cares about a bracelet and a girl who’s nose he broke….. that’s all I got, there is no meat and potatoes here, just a whole lot of Mac n cheese that leaves you hungry and hour later. 😮💨
A Vicious Rumor by Ivy Wild is the story of Tyson Stone 'Rock' and Lily White. This is the ultimate High School romance. Tyson happens to meet Lily when they where young accidentally. Now they are in High School and Tyson is the King of the school but on the inside he is filled with anger and hate for those around him. Lily is a caring young women who likes to help and wears her heart on her sleeve. Tyson and Lily share a connection but then Tyson tries to end that connection which in turn Lily wants to show him she is not one of his disposable girls. Enjoyed their story.

This one was an okay read for me. We had the angst, twist and turns which made it a page turner; however, I just could get behind these two as a couple. I didn’t feel the chemistry between Tyson and Lily. There were so many unanswered questions and dropped smaller storylines that weren’t finished out. I had trouble finishing this one. I hope we get stories from Paper and Scissors.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Tyson and Lilly are so different but are complicated in their own ways. Tyson by far is such a troubled young man and just doesn’t feel loved and wanted or understood by anyone. Lilly is complicated in that she views life so differently than most and this ends up making her feel confused about herself to find her way to Tyson. I really liked these two and appreciate the emotions they each have.
