Keep On Seeking
I really did like this book. The only reason I took a star was because I felt this book didn't quite live up to it's predecessor. Perhaps because Josiah is now an adult? The visions & "trips" were not as vivid, nor as "magical" (for lack of a better word) as in the first. I also felt the author just might, maybe, perhaps have slipped a bit into the "Prosperity Gospel" because he repeatedly mentioned how wealthy Josiah was. The main thing though is Bess' healing & how she came back with all the plaques gone. A true miracle! I do believe in miracles. I've received some myself! However, I've yet to hear of a reversal of Alzheimers, & I am certain many people have sent up many prayers with DEEP faith for a healing, but they just haven't happened! I would be sorry if this book gave anyone false hope. All this lowered my enjoyment of the book. Thankfully, there was relief from all this in the unity of this family! Very few, if any, families are this close! We were when I was a child, but things were changing by the time of my teens, in the early 70's. People were marrying & moving away yet in the book all the children lived in various parts of the world, but somehow everyone stayed close! Nowadays, brother is fighting brother, sisters stealing boyfriends, & parents, more often just Mom, is left behind, forgotten, alone in the dark. Another positive for me, as a Hospice Nurse, is how the author treated Grandma's death. I think he did a marvelous job of recreating someone in the process of dying, & what loved ones have to go through before they can accept that it's Grandma's time to go & that she's READY to go!! I do recommend this book, but with the notices above. Your beliefs don't need to mirror mine to enjoy this sweet story!
