Here’s a secret I’ll never confess: I listen to my boss’s voice in bed every night.

No, he’s not with me under the covers. That would be too freaking delicious, and he’d never want me like that.

The truth is, it’s a habit. One I started months ago, long before I began working for the famous narrator. I didn’t even realize the job was with him until my first day–and by then, I couldn’t turn back.

I need the money. He needs an assistant. We both need to stop staring at each other and get a grip.

Because his voice in my ear is all I’ll ever have.

And that man? He’s pure ear candy.

This is a short and steamy instalove story, starring a smooth-toned narrator and his off limits assistant.

I'm not too sure what to think here. There were good elements that I somewhat enjoyed but others that just ruined it for me. The story was very simple, it was about Kamran a narrator who hired an assistant Verity to help him with the administrative part of his job; communicating with publishers, scheduling, etc. So you could assume they had a boss/employee type of relationship. But, at the same time, they really didn't? It was so strange lol.

Anyways, Kamran was very charismatic, playful and caring. There was a little bit of bossiness to him as well. I don't think I had any issues with him as he was engaging and overall a pleasant hero.

This is our routine. We fell into this rhythm from the first week Verity started working for me, and there’s so much comfort in it now. She’s late; I make coffee. I can’t settle; she chatters until the tightness in my gut goes away.-Kamran

Verity was alright at first. She was sweet but cheeky, and it seemed easy for her to interact with her boss. She had a serious lack of self-esteem which caused unnecessary drama that seriously ruined it all for me. Even she admitted that she was being an idiot. And yes, she annoyed me:

How did we get here? How did I? We were so happy first thing this morning. And now Kamran looks wrecked, the fire in his eyes banking low, and I’ve never seen him look so much older than me. It hurts my heart.-Verity

👋 Pssh.

Their relationship was very strange to me because it was a boss and his employee, but they acted more as friends, as if they'd been acquainted for years. They bantered a lot, teased, etc. I just couldn't connect with the premise to begin with. I didn't like the casualty they had around each other in that setting. I wish there'd been more tension and more concealing feelings. Oh well..

Would I recommend this novella? It was decent. I had a good time at first but the drama at the end sort of put me off a bit. At least it didn't last long and the intimate scene was quite nice.

“Now that I have you,” I murmur in her ear, “I may never let go.”

I just need some damn sweet romance, okay. In this one, we got a sweet insta love between a hero who's an audiobook narrator (smutty romance included) and his admin.

It was just fluffy and what I need in between books right now.

It started good but then along the way it got annoying instead of improving .
They tipped around each others to much, at first i liked it but then i just needed and wished for more.
Over all it was a good nice story, better than the first one in this series anyway.

I 100% relate to feeling attracted to someone based on their voice alone. The amount of times I've listened to re-uploaded lives of Felix from Stray Kids to fall asleep is kind of embarrassing. Anyways, I really enjoyed this, it was just a short and sweet story

Ear Candy was cute, but there wasn't anything particularly good or bad about the novella that stood out to me. It was just... there

I've read a lot of Cassie Mint's novellas and I've generally enjoyed them, but there was something about this one that didn't grab my attention in the same way. Was I entertained, yes, but I didn't feel particularly invested in the novella either.

I thought the assistant and voice narrator concept was cute but I didn't think it was fleshed out enough, even within the short confines of the novella. Maybe some more conflict could have helped the plot feel more satisfying?

Similarly to Mint's other novellas, it's a steamy insta-love read.

Delightful and Charming!

I thought there was no way I could live this book as much as the first but I was totally wrong. I loved it in a completely different way. It was funny and downright charming. I absolutely loved Kamaran. That was one sassy man and verity cracked me up. She told him that his tee shirt was s!utty. It was great.

An all around joy to read. How did Cassie Mint suddenly climb up into the realm of my favorite short read authors? The first two books were so great I’m getting nervous for the next one. How can it possibly live up to my own hype?

Good

I really enjoyed this story. Kamran and Verity were great characters. Both had feelings for each other but were conflicted. Verity didn’t think she was good enough and Kamran was nervous about the boss/employee angle. They had trouble communicating their feelings and they had a few bumps but once they got together it was magic.

Safety and Spoilers
Completely safe. No ow/om drama. Nothing mentioned about H’s past, h is a virgin. No abuse but h is new to the area, she left her family because they treated like she didn’t exist, like she was invisible. She wanted a fresh start.

This a short quick read about an assistant and boss finally getting together after a lot of pining!
It was okay! I felt like they fell in love off page like before the start of this book. I love reading romances because I get to see couples fall in love. I didn't really get that in here.
But I loved the fact the hero was an audiobook narrator!!

Wow! Loved this! Verity moved to Prickly Pear Springs for a fresh start. She started listening to audiobooks narrated by Kamran as part of her nightly routine. When she got a temporary assistant job she didn’t realise her boss was Kamran until he spoke. She was in love with his voice and now she’d seen him she was in love with the man but he was her boss so she tried to hide her feelings. Kamran was in love with Verity, it was love at first sight but she was young and he was her boss, he didn’t want to scare her off. As they worked together more and more their relationship blossomed until neither of them could deny the truth. Sweet, steamy with amazing chemistry and a beautiful HEA.

4.5⭐
Kamran Zahir is a world-famous narrator and Verity isn't just a fan that listens to him every night, she's also his assistant (that's in love with him, obviously).
I loved this one. Even if it was just a short story, it was full of Good banter, Mutual pinning and Friends to lovers.

God, I hate when he’s right. “You’re insufferable.”
Kamran’s smile is so sunny. “And I’m yours.”

I really liked this book, but I felt like there was something missing.
Some kind of resolution or final moment with that sister maybe?

I feel like Verity’s pain wasn’t addressed between those two in clear words. We as readers get it. And I imagine Verity told Kamran about her invisibility at home and the issues with her family.
But we are getting none of it. Just a quick scene that alluded to it, and that then went on into a sex scene.

I liked that sex scene, I enjoy that it’s not the usual stuff. I LOVE that so far the Ladies in Cassie Mint’s books don’t suffer a huuuge amount of pain as it’s the case for a lot of other authors.

What I did not like is, that after the sex scene the book basically ended and we get a four years later epilogue.

I felt left so high and dry basically. I wanted there to be more. I needed there to be more. I just feel like the story had a climax (just as the couple, ha!) but instead of helping us down a soft path it was chopped of super fast. And the epilogue chapter didn’t help that much with that, tbh.

But other than that I liked the book. I enjoyed their banter. I just enjoyed them together. Banter makes the world go round 🙂

Nightly routine

Ear Candy is the second book in the Prickly Pear Springs series and I loved this sweet, naughty, fun and OTT romance. If you read the first book, Dear Diary, then you will remember begin "introduced" to Verity and Kamran. Verity is a young woman who moved to Prickly Pear Springs from the city and is looking to start her life. She had joined the library and is a big audio book listener who fell for the deep, rich and velvety voice of a certain narrator. As it so happens that voice belongs to Kamran who is a resident of Prickly Pear Springs. Verity is looking for work and sees an ad for an office assistant so she applies. She is hired and when she realizes who her new boss is she is not sure what to do. Kamran is a world famous narrator who is not good with the office stuff. So when he decides to hire an assistant to help he finds Verity. One look between them and all the bells and whistles are going off, but so is the "no go" sign flashing. But eventually that sign stops flashing and then the fun begins.

Not for me.

First I HATE to leave a bad review, but I can't stand for the female lead to be such a whiny, needy, poor pitiful me type. This one was the Queen of indecision and sounded like a two year old. And there wasn't any romance to me. Not for me. I have liked others by this author.

super cute

This one was full of really cute moments and lots of sweet bickering, and it really worked for the characters. I like how we get to meet the next character in the series and I already have cute little feelings for her. I am enjoying this series more than I thought I would.
