Oh how we love a good Stockholm Syndrome love affair 😆😆!
Genesis was a sheltered 23 year old living an extremely boring life. Because of the lifestyle of her family, her brother Andres, was your typical overbearing, overprotective figure in her life. After losing both parents in a mysterious car crash the year prior, he only got 10 x’s worse! Genesis was determined to keep her head down, earn her degree and accomplish the goals her parents had for her when they were alive! Sadly no matter how hard she tried to live in the shadows undetected, the sins of their father haunted them beyond the grave and she was collateral damage!
After being abducted by their family’s arch nemesis, a $750k price tag is placed on Genesis to get her back! While Andres is working tirelessly to do so, Genesis is held captive in a lavish mansion with the devil himself! Lucky for her the devil has a brother and he wants nothing to do with the family business or anything his brother tries to involve him in.
While trying to keep things as amicable as possible, Grady couldn’t help but fall for Genesis especially since at one point their family’s were a tight knit unit! As events unfolded, Grady was determined to win Genesis’ heart!
This story really did have 5 star potential but I found myself comparing this story to others similar to this and it fell a bit flat. I wanted Daronica to push the boundaries more and really blow us away with some of the scenes. I understand it was a short read but the “captive” aspect of the story wasn’t convincing. I really felt like Genesis could’ve walked out the front door if she really wanted to with zero consequences. While the concept was cute, the execution of the story felt rush and disjointed at times. There wasn’t a smooth progression of Genesis and Grady falling in love with each other and it seemed very random and out the blue. You expected it to happen but when it did there was no build up. Genesis’ character also displayed weird behavior with how she reacted to various scenarios during the Miami trip, again it wasn’t believable. I will say I enjoyed the plot twist at the end!
I will still continue to explore the authors catalog because the potential was there and I want to see this author’s growth!

I was captured
The story moved at a moderate pace for a very good reason. The story was short and needed to cover several aspects of the story. The gist of this storyline was about a rogue FBI agent's sister kidnapped because her cousin was an idiot. The street side of the story was subversive to the storyline in the manner Jameson (the kidnapper) always tried to manipulate everyone. Genesis (the kidnappee) became a pawn in the battle between the Denali and Montgomery families. The younger brother Grady, showed which side was his best position when the villain made a crucial misstep. No spoilers.... Read this one.

- Now I downloaded this book off of one quote I seen on tiktok lol, so I wasn't sure I was gonna love it. I was pleasantly surprised though because it was really good. My crazy ass was laughing and smiling at all the wrong parts😭😭.
- Now its in third pov but it focuses on the fmc Genesis and the mmc Grady. Genesis is only 23 and still in college. She is still trying to find her footing because adulting is hard when she gets captured lol. Ik its not funny but it is because she falls inlove with Grady. Grady is in and out of his family business because he has a passion for architect. He is really talented but he doesn't really get to focus on that because he has to babysit Genesis for the "family business". They wind up falling for each other like I said, honestly I couldn't understand why. But by the end I understood they relationship and loved it. Oh and we love an age gap story.
- Of course I loved Gradys sister Milan. She was cool asf and was just living life. This book was full of drama AND romance. @daronica you ate fr with this one, I have to tap into your catalog. Grady was so sweet and protective of Genesis. I feel like he really loved her for her and he wasn't scared to stand up for her. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 Oh and chile the office scene 🫣🫣love that for them😂!

The twists, turns and revelations had me on the edge of my seat! Genesis and Grady reconnecting was not ideal, however, the feelings that grew from their time together was real! I loved how Grady protected Genesis from Jameson's crazy, and taught her how to protect herself! He did all that he could to make her comfortable in the f'd up situation that they were in! That damn Jameson was a whole psycho! Somebody should have handled him long ago! When it was revealed why Genesis was taken, I was like what the hell is Dominic into? He just didn't care about anyone but himself! He put his family in the path of their rivals, over his dumb decisions! Then to find out what he had done, blew me! What? I hope Andreas, and Milan get a story as well. First read by this author, and I really enjoyed this! 👍👍👍

Whew! Ms. Lowe did not come to play with this novel. Captured & Captivated was a phenomenal read! Action, drama, lies & deceit. Yep, the author was in her bag with this one! 👏🏾 bravo 🙌🏽 I am blown away and so happy about how everything turned out. Great read!
