As an omega, I was born with one purpose: to be bred by a pack.
The issue? My first heat hit early. Confused and afraid, I took a big risk to relieve the pain, but it broke all the rules and cost me a piece of myself.
Nobody wants a used omega, but if I don’t mate a pack, none of my sisters will be able to either. So when a wealthy pack of strangers puts in an offer for me, my family is quick to send me packing, all the way to the land of the midnight sun. Alaska.
Archer, Miles, Noah, and Ben are everything that should make my heart flutter. They're kind, attentive, and they worship me like a goddess.
My body is built for them, to crave their knots and give them offspring. They say they want to give me everything… but what if I have nothing left to give?
Get ready to meet the Steele sisters in the Bonds of Steele omegaverse series world. Each book is a standalone and can be read in any order. Secrets & Seduction features sweet, protective men, a shy, reluctant female lead, and smoldering-hot knotty times. Please read the author’s note for possible triggers.
This was a bit of a hot mess. The setup was interesting but the story missed the mark. Somehow, Violet went into heat *years* earlier than she was *supposed* to. She ends up riding out that Heat with a male omega who wasn’t *supposed* to be able to impregnate her. So we start out story with more than one supposed impossibility.
Violet’s mother is an actual piece of shit masquerading as a real person. She pulls Violet from prep school, rides out pregnancy in secret, gives baby away and is determined to pawn Violet off to any pack she can. Blah blah blah.
Violet is our h. The Hs are Archer, Miles, Ben and Noah.
Our book starts with Violet about to meet a prospective alpha. One of the Hs, Miles. He’s alright at first . He’s smitten with her blah blah blah. They head off to Alaska where their pack is from. The reader is then subjected to a disgusting scene of the head alpha, Archer, banging some skanky random beta whore on page. Of course, the h walks in on this, her first meeting with her new alpha who is balls deep in a skanky girl. She is never heard from or seen again after this. Is h hurt? No. Any angst stem from this? Nope. What was the point of this completely unnecessary scene? There wasn’t one. That’s just swell, right. I love it when an H has unnecessary sex on page with random whores. Doesn’t everyone? Isn’t that what romance is all about?
I know it sounds impossible but it’s all downhill from here folks. Beyond this point the first HALF the book is useless repetitive and redundant. The h frets about her super terrible secret endlessly. She’s quietly plotting how to remove herself from her new situation and then feeling real sad about.
The so called alphas mostly orbit around her with little to no engagement pondering their own secrets and flaws. It’s a total blast and literally nothing happens.
Then the halfway mark rolls up and the shit hits the fan. Finally some excitement…or not. They finally have sex. It’s extremely uninspiring. What where they waiting for? Who knows? They weren’t exactly using this time to get to know each other beyond one activity that came and went with little fanfare.
The secrets start to spill. This pack had an omega once before. She was “crazy” and tried to murder Archer. Archer realizes Violet wasn’t a virgin. Oh no. He literally had his dick in another woman when she met him but it’s a travesty that she wasn’t a virgin. Gross. Eventually all the Hs grasp how fucked up their judgment is about h not being a virgin but these assholes had already lost me.
More secrets. Noah isn’t actually an alpha. Ben knew the crazy omega and was partially responsible for the death of her brother. Hence the murder attempt. Mile digs his holier than thou heels in and Archer is a douchenozzle. They are the douchenozzle duo.
They are all gross. Big fight. Pack splits up.
Pointless crap. Violet is set on meeting their former omega in prison. The author approaches this meeting purposefully and seems to place a lot of importance here but it felt absolutely pointless to me. It accomplished nothing. She’s over trying to murder them. Okay? Not like she would have had another opportunity even if she is released from prison.
We meet the piece of shit masquerading as a person again in a completely pointless scene. Are you sensing a theme here?? A developmental editor would serve this author well.
We meet up with the douchenozzle duo again. They have found the missing daughter. All is forgiven with your compulsory token reluctance from h but no actual consequences. Right.
The h doesn’t actually get to have daughter. Blah blah blah. Nice family. Blah blah blah. What was the fucking point??
So our ragtag pack is back together and in the epilogue the h who formerly got knocked up in a doubly impossible situation and has SIX sisters has still produced no other children. The author makes a point about the unpredictability of omega fertility earlier in the book but blah blah blah.
I would like to point out to SK Reign here that having the omegas fertility be iffy defeats the fucking purpose of omegas. They are the only ones who can have babies. Making their fertility questionable defeats the purpose.

This was my first SK Reign book and i liked it but didn’t love it. It definitely could have been better. I felt like something was missing in the book and i wasn’t able to connect with any of the characters. I also didn’t like the way the omegas had to be pure and celibate, because let’s be honest this is the 21st century and all of that bs has to be left in the past. So what if she wasn’t a virgin? It’s not a big deal. There could have been more groveling from the male main characters, and that would have made the book much better in my opinion because i love a good grovel.
yeah.... this ones bad. i expected it to be short going in but for its plot it wouldnt work. there are a lot of gaps, time jumps and idk just something missing i cant put my finger on.
spoilers:
and when they found out about the baby.... i tried to put myself in the mindset of how it would be a huge culture shock to them but still, the way they reacted was ridiculous
Conniving, little liar or troubled and damaged victim?
I've always had a hard time connecting to FMC who lie to those around them. Don't get me wrong, I know it's necessary sometimes. I'm talking about when you are reading from the FMC POV (that's a lot of acronyms🤭) and the FMC knows the other characters have well-meaning intentions and still lie. They make decisions that in the long run are selfish and know who hurt but do them anyways. Ugh, you know those secret babies stories where the females run away without saying "Hey I'm having your kid. I don't care if your in or out, but it would be cool if you were in. " They never do that; they always run. Always saying they were too scared. Woo is me. Selfish cows. Face him then bounce if your rejected. At least that way you can HONESTLY tell your kids what happens.
Now getting to this story, we have an omega with a past that has damaged her. I think it is more her mother that has damaged her. Now she is being sold quickly and earlier (under false pretenses) than she should to the highest bidder. Her options - a newly formed pack from the frozen north or a pack of old G's that would like nothing more than hear her song of screams added to the symphony of their past omegas. Eek.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, it's no wonder this girl throws herself upon the mercy of the North. It should be romance and HEA from there, but a part of broken dreams and shattered hopes has left her with a void that she has no wish to EVER fill. Not with pack, not with mates, certainly not with love, and never, ever with cubs. So the lying begins
A lying to win this pack of honest and trustworthy men over. To get them to fall in love with her and to trust her, all so she can run away. Because her heart and her past are her own.
I don't want to ruin it and yes there is more strive and angst, pain and passion along the path to finally reaching HEA. The hardest part for me was getting past the duplicity of the FMC, especially when the MMCs where so vulnerable and open with her in their development of the relationships. It was painful to read knowing what she was going to destroy, willingly, because of the pain she was unwilling to let go. Her heart was closed. I know that is what life is. It sure doesn't make it easier to read as an observer. I will tell you that for has much as this book was painful and made me cringe because of her choices, I still enjoyed it because it was relatable.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Secrets & Seduction is the first book released in the interconnected Bonds of Steele world. This is Violet’s story. She is being rushed off to the first alpha pack that will have her because she is a sullied omega, not pure as society dictates her to be. It’s her secret to keep, or she will be sent back to her mother and an even worse pack. But the pack that claims her has secrets of their own that may tear them apart.
This was a very entertaining read. It was unique in how the pack dynamic worked – as if it was built out of convenience rather than long-term mutual bonds that we usually see in OV packs. I think that is what drove the plot, and it worked here. I just wish the book had been longer. I wanted more emotional connections between Violet and each of the pack members. And then, I think Violet was too forgiving to the pack members who wronged her. I needed more groveling.
I wish this were not a stand-alone, as I want more from Violet and Pack Muldoon. They are interesting characters, and I feel they still have so much story left to tell.
I didn't even make it to the first sex scene lol~ Here's why this got the cut so quick: A whole lot of nothing is happening. We got pages of one of the Alphas just going on and on and ON about fucking Alaska. Don't care. Then pages of the FMC going on and on and on about how she has to get close to them but not too close to them and she can let what happened happen again. FFS. There's almost no interaction that we see. A week has gone by at the point I stopped and we saw absolutely no scenarios of them at least getting to know each other. The final straw was when the FMC stood up to Archer for being an asshole (bc he was) but within the same paragraph starts going "Oh now I feel like I'm losing archer and if I want to stay here I need him on my side oh I'm going to have to try harder to get archer to like me". What the actual eff.
I can already tell whatever crap sex scene this book has is probably just one uninspiring scene and that's it. Not worth it for me to continue.
Attention to details…unfortunately I live in Anchorage, so I know your details are wrong..the FMC Violet, is suppose to be 20 year old…but I felt like I was reading about a 15 year old. Then Muldoon pack, thought that they grew up together and formed the pack that everyone had their place and was cohesive…that would be a no…it felt like a bunch of strangers getting together on a tour group…then the over description of the location I felt like I was reading a guide for tourism of the state and no substance to the story or relationships.. Also it’s ok for the Alpha to be fucking a skank in his bed where his future omega will be, cuz she ain’t there yet, but the Omega must be a virgin.
Secrets and Lies… Violet has a secret that has her mother rushing to find her a pack so she can wash her hands of the omega. Pack Muldoon are a newish Alpha pack looking for their omega. Archer turns to Knotty.net to find an omega and comes across Violets profile that her mother set up for her. He sends Miles to seal the deal, he makes an offer to take her the same day back to Alaska with him. Unaware of Miles decision of bringing Violet home immediately leaves Archer in a compromising position when he firsts meets Violet. Oops. This pack has a lot of growing pains. With there being secrets and lies in the way they start off on rocky terrain. They are all dealing with things in there past and once all the truths are spoken they all must choose to build a new foundation for them to build on. I was told this was the first Omegaverse this author has written and I’m truly blown away by how well it’s written. It gives you all the good stuff a heat, slick, growly alphas, claiming marks and knotty good times. It was a quick read and very enjoyable. Can’t wait to see this author continue to grow in this genre.
Wow! I was captivated from page 1! I loved Violet and could relate to her so much! She's had to grow up under demand circumstances and craves freedom. She finds it in the most unsuspecting place- Pack Muldoon. She's a "broken omega" with buried secret, but they have lots of secrets as well. I cried and laughed with these characters. You will root for them to find their HEA because they really are lovable characters. They've been through so much, you want them to get their happy ending.
This was my first RH and it wasn’t bad. I’ve never read one and I didn’t mind it. I don’t think it’s my thing I don’t know if I would read another RH again but this story was really good. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters and they were all different and she loved them so much. This book was really good ! Thank you for this arc !
The storyline was fantastic. I really enjoyed the story. It is my first book by SK Reign and I would definitely read more. My only issue is that I would have loved a tiny bit more of spice and a bit more interactions between the alphas and the Violet. But otherwise, this was fantastic. It was well written and it keeps you very intrigued as you tray to shift through the secrets that are kept in the story. There is definitely a lot of drama and suspense throughout the story. It is definitely a story that will have you wanting more.
Secrets & Seduction was my first read from SK Reign so I went in not sure what to expect. What I got was an enjoyable read with great characters, all with their own struggles and secrets.
The book is set in an Omegaverse that represses omegas and holds the three tiers of society to strict social norms. Violet’s past doesn’t conform with these and she lives not only in pain but in fear of her new pack learning her secrets. Her new alphas are nothing like she expected.
This isn’t a story with lots of steamy bits, there is some, but it has a good storyline. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
This book really lived up to its title. There are so many secrets that each of the characters are keeping, and whew….the angst that I felt when some of those secrets were exposed!! Overall, this was an enjoyable short and sweet omegaverse book that is full to the brim with twists, secrets, spice, angst, and love.
Secrets and Seduction is book one of the Bonds of Steele Omegaverse series of standalones. This book is what I would consider a sweet omegaverse with cinnamon roll alphas and a broken omega.
Violet made a huge mistake that resulted in putting her future at risk. With a mother who only cares about prestige and appearances, she is left with only one choice…to take on a pack she’s never met. Will they still want her after they find out her secrets? But Pack Muldoon has secrets of their own. Can they get past the lies and betrayal and keep their pack together?
I absolutely loved this book! It has angst, secrets, betrayal, heartache, and spice that ends in a happily ever after! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series and learn more about the Steele sisters!
This is a great story, with a fair amount of spice and a lot of intrigue. Tons of secrets, drama, and humor! I’m excited to read more in this shared omegaverse world!
Absolutely loved Violet and pack Muldane's imperfect perfect story. The dynamics between the five of them are wonderful! Can't wait to read the next book.
This book is book 1 in the Steele series. This was a good book about giving someone a chance to explain themselves and be who they are. This was a great book and the guys really did grow a lot. It was a fast paced book and I loved all of it.
This is the first book in a series of standalones, all written by different authors, each about a different Steele sister.
I'm not sure what it was about this book, but it felt like something was lacking. I don't know if it was an issue with the plot, or I didn't connect with the characters as much as I was hoping. I didn't LOVE any of the guys, but they weren't horrible characters.
The FMC, Violet, was a little unlikable. She spent almost the entire book lying and hiding things from her "dream Alphas". I didn't struggle reading this, but I definitely struggled writing the review and remembering different details.
Here's to hoping the rest of the books are better!
Thank you to SK Reign for the advanced review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the first book about the Steele sisters and it will draw you in. Each member of the pack has a secret that could destroy them and turn their world upside down. Can they overcome everything and come together or will the secrets be to much? This is a great start to this new world
This book kept me on edge and since I never read S.K. Reign before I didn't know what to expect. Was she the type of writer to stab readers right in the heart with an ice pick? Or was she the type to just give them a little hit and tell them to walk it off? Turns out she lands somewhere in the middle.
The tension of Violent's untold secrets and plots was killing me, plus the guys and their secrets... The emotional trauma that is this book, and I could feel it coming because I connected to these characters but manage to find them highly annoying at the same time. I couldn't help but root for them. Although I will admit that I was angry at all the guys at one point but Reign knows how to write an apology because I didn't see how they could come out smelling like a rose after that but they did.
Due to one event and an unsupportive family, Violet is a mess and doesn't make the best choices. When she was deciding things I just wanted to shake her but overall she's still a good person in a messed-up situation with a designation that doesn't offer much. They guys aren't much better they seem like a thriving pack, Archer is a great flirt and businessman, Ben is sweet and creative, Noah is the caregiver that has anger issues, and Miles is a charmer. They all seem great on the surface but just like Violet, they're a little broken too. Reign mentions something at the beginning of this book, it was beautiful and after finishing this book I feel like nothing fits it better than that phrase.
One of the things I loved the most about this book was its uniqueness. The story takes place in Alaska, a first for me, and the guys have a unique occupation that I've never come across in one of my books. Not to mention the uniqueness of Violet's situation I've never seen in omegaverse which all adds up to a fantastic read. Plus it was a standalone which means I didn't have to suffer too much.
Secrets and Seduction had everything that I was looking for in an omegaverse, hot alphas, nice omegas, drama, and spice with nests, knotting, pheromones, and more but more than that it was unique. Violet was just the first of the sisters, and after seeing them I can't wait to see what the other authors do with the Steele omegas.
I really enjoyed this first book in the shared Bonds of Steele Omegaverse. Violet is not a "shrinking Violet," even with everything her mother has put her through. Although we don't see her fathers, I assume they give full reign to her with raising her SEVEN daughters. We get to see little sprinkles of personality with the six other siblings, and I'm sure I will enjoy reading each of the other Steele books as they are released, about every two weeks or so. I recommend this Omegaverse book and can't wait to read others in the series. A few of my favorite authors and their friends are writing or coauthoring the various sisters' books, and they are guaranteed to be just as good as this debut book!
With Violet's story, we see a heroine who has had to hide her past for the last year or so, and the secrets just pile up, starting with her age. She isn't even truly old enough to be mated fully to a pack! I loved that she wasn't flighty, didn't just make emotional decisions that affected herself and her sisters. She truly has plans for her future that unfortunately may hurt her future mates as lies of omission in the heat of the moments. Once she commits herself fully to revealing her secrets (partly because the men all have secrets as well!), there is an expected explosion within the pack but the happily ever after is worth the hurt and coming back together. Great emotional book and fun sexy times both separately and together! I can't wait for the next!
This book was so many miles away from what I felt was a beautiful prequel, I was truly shocked. I still liked Violet as FMC but I hate 3 of the MMCs and am kind of indifferent about Ben.
This book disregards a lot of what I feel makes omegaverse/RH romances so great in favor of toxic masculinity, jealousy and slut shaming around every corner… from Violet’s antagonist mother? Okay sure, but from 3 of her alphas?? I simply cannot.
A lovely, quick enjoyable Omegaverse read. It explored some things I've always wanted to see in Omegaverse books (But I refuse to spoil!) and overall I really enjoyed it!
I feel like it could have delved a little deeper at times, but that didn't mean I didn't enjoy it. It was a quick, easy read and I would recommend it to any fellow Omegaverse-obsessed readers.
It was an ok read. The last half of the book just turned me off two of the characters especially since miles was my favorite. Idk. I just kinda feel dissatisfied with the ending
So many secrets, but so much love! So much happens in this quick read I did not want to put down! Love the characters and their growth through this. Cannot wait to read more in this series!
I should’ve known this book wasn’t going to be good when the author’s note was in an illegible script. Like a subconscious tell, it was a warning that this book is pretty contrived and incoherent too.
To start with, I’m thankful I read another book in this series (by another author) before returning to this one, otherwise I might never have read any of it. Thanks to that book alone, I feel obligated to finish this one, although I first started to find it unbearable at about 40% of the way through.
The major point of contention in the first 40% of the book is that the FMC has a secret. However, her feelings are so fleeting and insubstantial that no real connection is felt- between other characters or me as a reader. It’s… brave to not put any relationship building at all in this first section of book. If you’re just going to have one point of contention then you need to make it good and ham it up.
I say that because in the VERY next section of book, after deciding that she needs to be honest with them, the FMC was saying she was falling for them with barely spending any time with them 1-on-1. Like literally, maybe three waking hours.
When the MMC is honest with her about some of the pack’s past after dragging her out of bed in the middle of the night, she thinks about how she hasn’t made a decision to tell them (even though she just had). It’s unclear and annoying to read characters like this.
When the rest of the pack finds the FMC and one of the MMC after they have some alone time, and one of the other MMC gets jealous, she decides to fix the packs issues with more betrayal and group sex- and it’s not even clear what’s going on at first.
The FMC says “maybe it’s too fast” in her inner monologue, and I just had to snort. Maybe it’s fast? It certainly is for someone who’s spent a total of five waking hours at this point with these men. It’s like the writer was trying to write some resolution into this book through their sex- when literally nothing had been resolved, things were actually worse because of it. And it’s not even sexy.
The FMC implies that the MMC who dragged her out of bed knows more about her than he literally asked her about, and at this point I’m eye-rolling. This is supposed to be someone who has suffered a trauma yet she’s acting like she’s twelve.
Plus, if I hadn’t read a spoiler review about one of the MMC, his turn in the group scene would have been utterly confusing. You can hide a secret and not make it difficult to read.
Alas, the entire group scene was a clusterfuck. It was So unclear. Four male main characters and at the best we got a “he” in reference to one of them.
Plus, we’re switching POVs here, and in most of them so far at the group scene, they’ve been useless as there’s been only vague allusions to history and no relationship building between characters. But suddenly we flip to one of the MMC and he says he’s in love with her. When? And then, comparing her to Bokerah saying the FMC opened her heart to them, when she literally has been closed off to the point it has been making them jealous of each other? Make it make sense.
The author claims one of the MMC detached interest is coming across as confidence. Pfft. Yeah right. Plus, how is that romantic?
The part where the pack splits was literally just written to piss you off. It completely ejects you from the story.
As far as characterization and progression of it, there’s not much to tell. This may be an unpopular opinion but if you write a funny character, then they actually need to be funny. The FMC is a literal doormat; she thinks of herself as resourceful when she’s anything but.
The last half of the book where things should be resolved was so random and forced, I don’t know what to say. And again, there was no actual resolution between one of the MMC and the FMC. Just sex.
The author wrote this as the MMC accepting the FMC terms as if it was purely society that was in the wrong for its treatment of omegas, putting the onus of blame on society entirely. They didn’t once think about the fact that biologically she had little choice. Which paints them as hypocrites considering the first time we met the pack leader.
Speaking of which, why would we want to read about him and another female as an introduction to him if he wasn’t going to learn from his mistake? Or maybe even a… oh well I did this the night we met so when I didn’t even know her and she was with someone it’s okay. Literally disgusting, and pushes you right out of the “story”. I should’ve stopped reading right then.
This was not a good introduction for this series and I would suggest to anyone wanting to read this books to skip the first one entirely.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’m the one who damned myself, but I’m also the only one who can offer salvation.
The first instalment within the Bonds of Steele Omegaverse series which will follow each of the seven sisters within the Steele family.
Violet is the first one her mother is pushing forward into a pack of alphas, Violet is an omega and her soul purpose is to be pure and produce the next line for the pack. Only issue…Violet is not only a year younger but as her family and others will see it…damaged goods.
The ‘heat’ as it is known hit Violet sooner that should have and the pain was too much to bear for Violet as she took another. The effects of this means that Violet’s life has changed, carrying more than just the memory but the emotional loss that she tries to keep close to her chest.
So, when a new pack known as the Muldoon who live in Alaska strike an interest in her, Violet knows that they could be her only hope as a safer pack and maybe her way out to live her life as she pleases.
Violet is carrying a heavy burden, her secrets are only to protect herself and yet when she meets these alpha’s, Violet can’t stop her feelings towards them. It’s in her nature, even though her head is telling her to keep up appearances and follow in her duty…her body is coming back to life again as they get closer to her.
Can Violet hold herself back from these alphas and finally tell them the truth. Even if it means she loses everything…again?
Violet is everything I’ve ever wanted and everything I’ll ever need. She is mine. Ours.
Will she accept their bites to complete the bond tying them all together forever?
We’re getting too close. We like each other too much. This wasn’t part of my plan.
I enjoyed reading the first book of this series, you get a good idea of what is happening and the base of the story that this series will carry on with. Violet had a lot of emotional things going on throughout this story, you do understand her character and her reasons why she’s wanting to protect herself after everything she has gone through.
The alpha’s also had their own issues too and as event’s came to head you did wonder how this would affect them also. Their feelings always were real throughout this story and nothing is forced.
Going to be interesting to see what happens to the rest of the sisters, who you do briefly meet and get a little feeling from each of them.
My job is to protect, to create, to provide. It’s how I take care of those who matter. It’s how I want to take care of her too, when she finally lets me past those walls.
