I love a good mafia romance that I can sit down and read in one go. I was NOT ready for the major cliffhanger though. I am SO SO ready for August to see what happens because I was really questioning Ava's decisions through this book and need to see how it plays out...

Boardwalk Kings by Jillian Frost is a mafia romance with a reverse harem trope that involves Ava, a feisty and smart heroine and four over the top possessive, vicious, arrogant alphaholes who may or may not have nefarious intentions. Every single one of the four villainous heroes have a completely different character to each other but Nico and Dante have grabbed my attention the most. One seems to have a softer, maybe a tad vulnerable heart, the other on the other hand, seems to be apathetic and insouciant to Ava. Nevertheless, they are all intoxicating and able to bring Ava’s wild side to the surface. The cliffhanger is a bit brutal but hopefully, Ms. Frost won’t let us suffer much longer before the Boardwalk Queen comes out.

It was a good enough story, but I hate books that have a cliffhanger ending (this particular one apparently doesn’t end for 2 more books), and you’re forced to buy more books to see how it ends. Super frustrating.

Arc recieved for a review!!

The story of this book is concealed with so many secrets, and twists. The FMC Ava is really smart for her acts, she knows what's she doing. The four men are so ruthless and savage. Throughout the story whatever I read about Nico and Dante's relationship , I felt bad but sometimes I feel like it will be improved. The twins - Angelo and Stefan are like two opposite poles but yeah, still same in so many ways.
And Nico? He is so manipulative if he did everything good only because he was told to do so. To be honest, his sweets talks made me blush a little bit in person.
The spice in this is so yummy, and the thing with Dante? Oh my god- that was god-damn hot.
In addition, I liked Bella and her curiosity about the men. Among four of them Dante is the Coldest one and then Angelo. Dante is Luca here , I love him too. Actually I love all these men so much. Waiting for these four boardwalk kings to fall in love with Ava.
The cliffhanger is so... I'm speechless.
I need the second book Asap.
Jokes apart, I will be waiting for the 2nd book to see Dante's character development. Other three brothers also needs to develop their character for the girl and have to treat her like an actual queen she is.

I love this book so much, the sassy vibes of them is what I loved the most.

Dark romance with mafia vibes & reverse harem...uh yes! 🖤

📚Book Epigraph: "Once you're in this family, there's no getting out." - The Sopranos

✨ Dark romance
✨RH -4 brothers/ 1 girl
✨Mafia
✨Spicy
✨Forced proximity
✨Crime
✨Cliffhanger

Without trying to spoil anything....Ava and the Luciano brothers with all their tension and spicy scenes, make this dark romance book very entertaining! She's book smart and learned how to navigate in the Mafia life dealing with money and crime. The Luciano brothers have their eyes on her before she even knows it. Oldest brother Dante, Half brother Nico, & Twins Stefan and Angelo. They all want her even some of them won't admit it and they're willing to share her with each other! Ava goes from hating the fact that she has to be near them and their bossy/possessive ways to having an internal battle with herself about how much she wants them too. Although it seems like Ava & Nico have more of a connection throughout the book. The tension is HIGH and when you get to the spicy scenes, it pays off! There's a cliffhanger at the end so I'll definitely be reading Book 2!

oof. This was not my favorite.
It wasn't terribly written but the characters didn't do it for me I think that they could use a little more development in order to keep my interest. Thematically the plot is not my typical choice, but I am always open to trying other "flavors" as it were, but this one just wasn't for me. At times it felt like it was raunchy for the sake of being raunchy. Some of the scenes gave me wicked secondhand cringe. I'm no stranger to extra spicy books, believe me, I can handle the trigger warnings but there was something about the characters that didn't resonate with me enough to care to finish the series.

Bottom line if you are into Mafia, Atlantic City Mobsters, Why choose, Reverse harems, Dark "romance" and characters that are grey at best then go ahead and give it a try. Fair warning this one ends in a HUGE cliffhanger. But I believe the next 2 in the series are available so if its exactly what you are looking for, then by all means power through them all!

Ma’am!!! Are you freaking kidding me!! This is another banger from Ms. Frost! WOW I don’t even know if I can put into words how much I am loving this new series. Ava is a complete baddie and I cannot wait to see her bring these 4 hot AF alpha men to their knees. Dante, Angelo, Stefan and Nico are straight fire. Ava suddenly becomes “property” of these kings and they are fiercely protective of everything thing and everyone that belongs to them but Ava is no meek little mouse heck no this woman gives as good as she gets and I cant wait for her to give them a run for their money. This was an epic start to Ave and the guys story and that was one great cliffy and I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

not worth the read

This series was so-so. Not bad, but definitely not great. You know those books where the characters have very little dimension, yet the other characters look at them like the sun shines out their a$$? That was Ava. Ava is so bland and boring, I couldn’t tell you a single interest of hers. She had 1 friend, that’s it, and she didn’t even like that friend. She had zero interests or hobbies. She did nothing, went nowhere, and honestly, she bored me to tears. Other than being “pretty,” the author gave her nothing to build on. Pretty isn’t enough to write a trilogy on. This series fell really flat. There was almost no plot. Ava is described as a genius, but I saw no signs of that. Just because an author tells us something, doesn’t make it true or believable. You have to sell it to your readers, and there was none of that. Not once in three books did she actually show veritable proof of her genius.

To top it off (very MILD spoiler—this was barely a blip in book 3—like seriously, only a few pages), I lost any respect for Ava (trust me, there wasn’t much to begin with) after she was kidnapped and held in a basement with a bunch of other young girls and women who were being auctioned off. They were all dru g ged, and Ava miraculously managed to wake up, but did she help anyone?

NOPE. IT LITERALLY DID NOT CROSS HER MIND. 🤬🤬🤬 It wasn’t even mentioned as an internal thought. She saw a room full of dru gged and traf ficked young girls and said, “oh well, sucks to be you *shrugs*.” And when her guys get to her in the hallway, does she mention that there’s a room full of traf ficked girls downstairs? NOPE. Doesn’t even cross her mind. 🤬🤬🤬 Not even an anonymous call to police. Nothing. Their existence and lives didn’t matter to her one iota. Then, she gets in the van and proceeds to fu c k her guys as they drive off into the sunset. I can’t make this crap up. I kept reading thinking, surely she’ll mention or do something? Surely she won’t just ignore those girls? But she does. Never mentions or thinks of them ever again. Like, burn in h e l l, you god awful trash human.

While the steam is there and it’s hot, overall, this series wasn’t worth reading. I do not recommend.

The Luciano brothers make a brief appearance in the Devil's Creek series; I was so excited when I heard that Dante, Nico, Angelo, and Stefan would have their own series.

The Luciano Brothers are ruthless kings of Atlantic City, and they have taken control of Ava, and no one can stop them.

"One day, you're going to lose control. And when you do, you'll do it with me."

HOLY HOTTNESS!! The sexual chemistry between all these men and Ava is explosive, and the SPICE is panty melting.

Dante is the oldest, and he's the alphahole.
Angelo and Stefan are twins. Stefan is the sweet twin but is a freak in the sheets.
Angelo is the crazy psycho, but he has a kinky side that I freaking LOVED!
Nico is the pretty boy who plays the nice guy but is a ruthless killer.

"Luciano men are known for two things. Big c*cks and even bigger tempers."

I could not put Boardwalk Kings down. I love Jillian's writing style and books, especially her RH. I read this in one sitting, and I cannot wait to read Boardwalk Queen!

won’t finish the series

All the main characters were too wishy washy for me. Ava was all over the place. Scared, intrigued, forward and bold. And this was all in 24 hours. The brothers couldn’t decide if she was the enemy or into her. All the while groping her with their first true encounter with her. The author slapped on, “I liked it” to justify their assaults. Ava went from screaming her frustration and hate for the brothers to making out with the twins in the hot tub all in a matter of 5 minutes. I also have an issue with Dante and the twins hating Nico. Like it wasn’t his fault. Grow up. Ava saying other guys just wanted sex, the brothers have yet to give any indication that they want more than that. Ava came off as thirsty for Dante’s attention. How many times this guy gotta call you a whore to get the hint? Ava also talked too much. Giving all the deets on her guys to her friend. Although the book ends on a cliffhanger, I wasn’t inclined to continue the series.

A few misspelled words. The term good girl was overused. 41 times! We get

I am being generous in my rating. Everything felt rushed, not fully fleshed out. Let me summarize for you: "omg they are so hot, I hate that I like them. I'm such a good girl but I'm letting them do naughty things to me and I don't know why. He stuck his fingers in me and I came."

And the ending cliffhanger is dumb. There is not a sufficient build up of tension anywhere in this.

Ava's indebted to the Boardwalk Kings...

Dante, Nico, Angelo, and Stefan

They are just ruthless men, they fought to make themselves and they own Atlantic City and everyone who lives in the city that includes Ava.

Ava's father had laundered money for the Mafia but made the huge mistake of stealing from the Boardwalk Kings.

Now the Kings own Ava in every way possible, and they take everything they want when they want, worst of all they brand her with their own blood-stained hands.

The Kings call Ava their good girl.

Their perfect captive.

Ava wants them to believe that.

Ava knows that below her good-girl exterior lays a bad girl in disguise.

Boardwalk King by Jillian Frost is an enemies-to-lovers Mafia romance that includes DARK themes. The FMC is going to have a HEA with all four of her love interests by the end of the series.

YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Please read and consider the trigger warnings starting this series. Your mental health is always most important and should never be put at risk for any book you may consider reading.

I love the tropes that Jillian used in this book: Why Choose, Mafia, Morally Black MMCs, Touch Her and Unalive, All The Triggers You Could Want.

I love reverse harem books. It's one of the tropes that I love and gravitate to the most. And Dark Romance with Reverse Harem well that's my cup of tea and Boardwalk Kings book 1 of Jillian Frost's Boardwalk Mafia series was just up my alley. I loved this book and while I still have to read the rest of the series, it is on my TBR.

One of the things that I loved was the way that Jillian didn't rush the relationships and slowly built up the relationships between Ava and the brothers. And I loved how we got to see things from their POVs from time to time allowing us to see who was “faking it” and by how much. And I loved how we got the chance to see how their opinions of Ava changed as the book progressed.

The one thing that I found a bit disappointing about Ava was that she was a bit too naive for my liking. And the amount of s*x coaching she needed was beyond my mind. The only redeeming quality that Ava had in this aspect was that the guys seemed to really be into this and they really seemed to really like this about Ava so that was her redeeming quality.

I will say that the s*x scenes were amazingly spicy. The guys went from fingering Ava to Or*l to finally going full-on. The guys kept interrupting the s*x and there was so much edging and this helped to ramp up the tension and the angst when they got on to the full-on deal. The twins and their menage, that was so hot and kinky. And then we have Angelo with all his piercings. Let's just say you need to expect some light kink.

The boys all that these ridiculously huge eggplants that are unrealistic. But, they do go hard and have so much stamina and energy for more than one round. Like I said, it's all so unrealistic, but it's all so much fun I just can't help but love it.

You can tell that Dante is the one brother that likes Ava the least and continuously keeps on voting on unaliving her, but his vote doesn't get very far... from him, we just see some mutual m*sterbation and light spanking. He wasn't my favorite. But, he was slowly starting to grow on me.

This is still a dark mafia romance so you have to expect there to be some unaliving, torture, s*x clubs, stalking, bullying or some general meanness, forced proximity, forced job (money laundering), hardcore bedroom play.

This book does end on one h*ll of a cliffhanger so be ready for that. Thankfully the next book is already out so you'll be able to jump right into that when you are finished with this book.

Thoughts:
I liked the slow build up of the relationship with the different brothers. It was helpful to see from their points of view occasionally to know which ones were faking it and how much. You could see their opinions of her change as the story progressed. I found her a bit naive and she needed a lot of s@x coaching but the guys seemed into that.

The s@x scenes were super hot. They slowly ramped up from finger banging, to or@l, to final penetration. There was a lot of interruptions to the sexy scenes so that was giving her a lot of edging. It also ramped up the tension of when will they get to the full shebang? I loved the twins ménage it was SPICY. Angelo was pierced everywhere and was a little kinky - so expect light kink.

These boys have huge eggplants, go hard like stallions and have so much stamina enough for multiple rounds. Totally unrealistic but I loved it!

Dante likes her the least and is voting to unalive her so they didn't get very far… just mutual m@sterbation and some spanking. I liked him the least.

It was really dark mafia so expect unaliving, torture, s@x clubs, stalking, bullying or general meanness, forced proximity, forced job (money laundering) and hard core bedroom play. Ends on a shocking cliffy so be prepared to read the next book.

🛑Please read all the author warnings as the themes and events could be very triggering.

My words fail me after reading this book. Jillian does it again, giving us 4 strong- alpha males and a female that is going to bring them all to their knees! This ride is going to get wild and very bumpy, so hold on tight my friends.

As we are introduced to Ava, we learn that she wants to be as far away from the Luciano family as she can get. Getting ready to graduated college and took a job as a junior financial analyst, she is ready to take on the world. Except, her dad got himself into some possible hot water and the Boardwalk Kings have been watching her, just waiting to make their next move. Poor Ava has no idea what is about to happen and that her entire world is about to be turned upside down.

So here are our guys. Dante is the oldest Luciano brother and is the next in line to be Don. Then there are his twin brothers Angelo and Stefan. Lastly, their half-brother Nicodemus or Nico as everyone but Dante calls him. These guys wear their last name proudly and no one crosses them. They are ultra-protective of their business and those that they deem within their “property”. Dante holds a chip the size of Texas on his shoulder for so many reasons, but they include the fact he barely tolerates Nico. Nico is the lighthearted one but will jump through any hoop to earn good graces with his dad and brother. Angelo and Stefan are both holding their cards close to their chest, but they know how to have a good time.

We watch as these boys’ toy will Ava, but she gives it back just as much as she gets it as she has her own purpose for playing a game. The first cliffhanger is a good one, so be ready. This trilogy is going to be amazing.

This is a great book. Kind of reminded me of den of vipers but it is a series not just one book. Loved the build up and the characters development through out the books so far. Sad i found the series when it was still incomplete though because I’m drying for the third book to come out now.

Book starts with Ava getting ready to graduate from college and move away and start her life away from the mob. See her dads cleans money for the biggest mob in the world and she had grown up around it her whole life. But she wants out. Well little does she know that her dad has been stealing from them so they force her to come work for them but they don’t tell her they know he’s stealing. She of course can’t tell them no so when they move her into their building right next door to them and they start pursuing her romantically she pounces at the attachment of them. Even though she knows what her father did and that she could be caught at any moment. Well they get closer and closer to her and get her involved in the family business with cleaning money. She of course becomes attached to them but each relationship is forming at a different pace. The leader of the group of four hates her guys and wants to cause her pain and kill her for what her father did. He wants to torture the truth out of her but the other he three brothers of course start to fall for Ava and talk him out of it. With him ignoring her though it makes her want him more. Even with all her feelings though they still know what her father did and it can’t be overlooked. At the end of the book they invite her to a family dinner and Ava is convinced they are going to kill them and that they know.

Mafia romance.
Four hot brothers with one girl.
All good until... I slid my hand down her stomach, tightening my hold on her with my other hand. “Last I checked, you’re legal.” I grabbed her p*ssy over the fabric. “And so is your uptight c*nt.” “Like you’d care if I was legal.” She snorted, rolling her eyes. “You’ve probably broken a hundred laws since breakfast.”

Pay attention on her reaction. None. Thats what.
A guy just grabbed your p*ssy and no reaction? Yeah nope! Then she's flat out horny enough while waiting to be spanked? Yep this girl is not segsi enough for me. She just put her self one notch down in my FMC chart

Then, she keep calling her self a wh*Re for lusting over the four of them. Couldn't understand why her feeling. But, she let them finger Duck her on diner table with the dads attended only to instigated it in the hot tub with the twins.

I'm all for girl power or self love or brazen girl or whatever it's called, but I need the character to own it, dangit!

This girl don't have a clue on her own character. The four guys? I have no idea what they see in her beside her t*ts and a*$. So, no I don't believe their supposed to be chemistry.

DNF on chapter 14, that's 35%ish

Okay so I know this sounds negative - but I mean it in the most positive way when I say this book is giving me so many of the elements off my check list that I mentally have when reading a mafia book.

- Attractive Alpha males
- Intelligent girl
- A situation that has her 'trapped' in their lives
- 'Big scary man but is willing to take care of her'
- Putting family before everything, even if it fucks everything up
- MY FAVORITE 'I have to be with her / I have to marry her' even though I love you

Although this was only book one of three they did a pretty good job at not making it feel empty - or like the 'set up' book. You can already clearly see the back stories to why / how the dynamics exist among the brothers and you can get a sense as to why / how people are acting and reacting.

I'm hopeful for where this can go.

Just for the fun of it - (ranking the brothers)

1. Stefan (I feel like he's just a lost little Kid)
2. Angelo (This man's insecurities are controlling him and it HURTS)
3. Dante (I know I'll eventually like him more and I respect him so much for their past)
4. Nico (this man doesn't even deserve spot 4 - also my beef with him is about honesty not his actions)

In Boardwalk Kings we follow Ava as she is taken from her semi mafia associated life (via her father) to being fully forced into the life once it’s discovered her father has been stealing from the higher ups. I think with these types of books there’s a fine line between badass and corny and this book often walked that line.

While the premise of the book was interesting, the writing was awkward at times. Stilted. A lot of the time a character who has no knowledge of another character tells the reader what that character is thinking or feeling. But how would they know this?

Additionally, each character in their individual chapters recap situations and histories we already learned about through other characters.

The feelings Ava had also constantly switched. She often went between how cute her captors smiles were to hating them. To thinking one would be her savior, to promising to get away from them.

The book does end on a cliffhanger, and I do have some interest in where it goes next. I just find it harder to read books when things don’t “flow” properly. But we’ll see!

I’m sure by now, you know if it’s Jillian Frost books or reverse harem sign me up and it’s my guilty pleasure!

Boardwalk Kings you meet the Luciano men and of course there’s four of them. Dante, Stefan, Angelo, and Nico. Each of them reminded me of our Salvatore men from The Princes of Devils Creek. While reading I was taking notes of who reminded me of who and this morning I saw my email from Jillian and she made a comparison of the characters and it was exactly who I had thought!

I like that this series is a crossover so we get to see our other four favorite men. At this point Nico is my favorite because he reminds me so much of Marcello 😍 but in the end Luca was my favorite and I’m sure Dante will ease up just like Luca did.

HIGHLY recommend but read The Princes of Devils Creek then Ruthless Cadets first to understand how everyone is related or else you will be confused!

I was addicted to this book- this series in general, which had me wrapped its finger. Each of the boys was intriguing, even Dante and his rude remarks, and gruff demeanor. The dark and mysterious, all hard and business mafia men. What can you say?

The female lead, AVA. Had me, I loved her character so much. It was one of the first books I've read where she used her body to seduce the men- seductively competing with the men. It was fun and new to read a book where the fmc used her sexuality to her advantage. She was extremely smart and loyal, she is probably one of my favorite main characters. In the past few books I've read, the girls can't compare... She beats them.

It was a little fast-paced but not so fast you couldn't keep up, I loved the plot! I was hooked, the smut was entertaining and left you reading too. (There were a few times I skipped the smut to go through the plot, I did go back but I'm impatient sometimes).

I was able to read this book in 2 sittings, however my toddler refused to let me! The pace of this mafia romance is fast and extremely spicy! There are some things for me that were minor issues that broke the spell for me, but won’t impede the story overall story. If you have read from this author before she doesn’t disappoint with her flair for details! The characters are the relatable to their backgrounds and not too different from one another. The world built for the characters is immersive and you find yourself Ava’s world instantly. The Boardwalk Kings have a plan for Ava and there is nothing won’t do to set it in motion.Ava trying to strive for independence from “the family”, but her dreams are dashed on her graduation day…or does she have a plan? Will she succeed or loose herself completely? Will bad boyNico be her saving grace or her downfall? That is what you have to find out.
