Time is running out to choose: kill the first heir who doesn’t view him as a problem to eliminate, and walk free with a broken heart, or let Darien go and become a ghost until the sun explodes.

Emma is the #1 Amazon Bestselling Author of m/m series such as Paint, Incubus, and Lies.

Known as the Queen of MM angst her books include Sci-fi, paranormal, and contemporary romance and always puts her characters through hell before giving them a HEA. She blames her rebellious muse (who looks like Chris from the Paint Series) for the erotic aspects tickling the angst, and the humor cuddling up with the erotic.

When not writing or reading she herds Birman cats and sons; Both groups argue that the other is too large.

4.5 stars. Ohhh what a story!
We’ve got a big house, like a cathedral, if walls could talk.
Alastor is like the devil sitting on a shoulder, unscrupulously spilling those secrets.
His purpose of existing is to eliminate all Walpole heirs to get rid of his centuries-long curse.

He thought he did his job, still, his curse remains. Then, there’s the final Walpole heir, trying to sell the big house. Darien isn’t what Alastor expected, he’s a Dom, caring and he even likes Alastor.
If he only knew what was hanging above his head.

When Darien meets the heavily abused Alastor in his house, he wants to find out what happened to him. He wants to help the little brat. Analyzing this submissive youngster from his experienced Dom pov, he made up his mind about him and a plan to help him. Again… if he only knew!!

Alastor tells Darien the truth, but still, Darien hears it all from a different perspective, because duh, ghosts, imps, demons. Alastor wants to be used by Darien, Darien has other plans for him.

Some forces got even bigger plans.

My heart reached out to Alastor, getting to know him better even more. Darien was a great Dom certainly considering the circumstances.
So much is happening impossible to sum up without spoiling.

While it’s a dark-themed story it had so much delightful humor, I snorted and laughed a lot.
It was an amazing narrative and great paranormal fantasy scenery. The story pulled me in until I was finished.

Wow this was amazing, I'm obsessed! I honestly couldn't put the book down, I stayed up late to finish it, which wasn't good for my sleep, but totally worth it. I completely got lost in the story. I honestly had no idea how the book was going to end and what the characters were hiding and it was so very satisfying to see the story unfold and learn what really happened.
Alastor was such a fun character, I couldn't help loving him. There were chapters where he made me laugh and others where he pulled at my heartstrings.
Darien was also amazing, caring and strong but Alastor stole my heart. I won't say anything about the plot because I think it's more fun to go in the book without knowing a lot of details. But I can say that I loved the magic system and all the supernatural creatures, I thought that the plot was brilliant and I adored the characters. The story is set in the same universe as the Incubus series by the author but it's a standalone (even though we do get some awesome cameos).
It's a great book, I had the best time reading it and I highly recommend it. And I hope we'll see Darien and Alastor again.

Skedaddle-skadoodle, hurry up and read this novel!
Witches and curses, demons and demon traps, love and death—this and many more unfold on the pages of the new masterpiece by Emma Jaye - “IMPrisoned.”
Alastor, the local imp and the curse of the Walpole Hall, forever possessed my heart! Despite his story beginning 400 years ago, he didn’t lose his sense of humor, and even naivety. I adored his spirit and bratish personality laced with so much vulnerability. I was engrossed with his story, especially the Elizabethan period, which must have taken Emma a lot of time to research.
I liked Darien too, but Alastor is the true gem of this book.
For me, IMPrisoned was an extra treat because I adore the Incubus World and was anticipating the meeting with my fav characters, and they didn’t disappoint!
Hope to see Arioch’s story one day.
For those who didn’t’ read till the end, IMPrisoned comes with a HILARIOUS bonus story! Don’t miss this brilliant 5 stars read, and don't forget to grab the bonus! It's about Avery!

A new author for me who kept me on the edge of my seat with an emotional roller coaster of a journey. I love a book I can get my teeth into and this one delivered. The characters were strong, the story line was solid and the entertaining way this author writes has me looking for more of her books.

“So, what did you do to the guy who beat you? Because all I see here is anger, not erotic play.”
“I told him I was going to spunk on the pillows of his future in-laws.”
Darien froze. Of all the things Alastor could have said, that… didn’t even enter the ballpark.
“And I tried to piss in their soup. When they were eating it.”

This book is not as dark as others by this author. However, there are a lot of morally gray characters that probably some people wouldn’t be pleased to read about. I might regret saying this, because I didn’t finish the Incubus series yet, but it’s always a pleasure seeing Arioch around. As well as other characters that I won't mention to not ruin the surprise.
It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading at least the first 3 books of the Incubus series before it in order to understand the behavior of some of the characters. And also to see if this type of book is of your liking. Let’s just say that the lines between the couples and some characters can be a little bit blurry. I personally love this but I'm aware it's not for everyone.

description

So far Darien is the purest MC of all this world, let's see how long it takes for him to get corrupted in the future lol. But for me the star was Alastor and his brattiness, his occurrences made me laugh more than once. I do have some mixed feelings about Darien and Alastor’s miscommunication. I'm never a fan of it but at the same time I get that in this case it was understandable and realistic. I’d have loved to see more moments between them because the ones we got were really good.

Loving the new characters and the familiar faces. It always feels good to get back to this world. Can’t wait to know who are going to be the MCs of future installments!

DAMN! This was so good! Alastor and Darien’s story was incredible. I was instantly glued to the pages, continually laughing out loud at some of the silliness, and biting my nails with anticipation of what was going to happen next. The imagery and world building throughout was outstanding and instantly brought the story to life.

Alastor and Darien have amazing chemistry that just oozes off the pages and melts your heart. And even though their romance is slow burn it was intense, and I was ready to combust at any given moment over the heated buildup.

Really well written story that kept me completely riveted to my seat right from the very start and I hated when it was over at the end. Loved it.

Oh man, Jaye knows how to keep a reader entertained and glued to the story! I got all the feels, and then some. It's a fast-paced story, with twist and turns and an ending I didn't want to happen..meaning, I want more of Alastor and Darien!!

I love it when Emma Jaye comes out with a new book. The tags for this one had me bouncing into this one the day it came out, and it didn't disappoint! I loved Alastor and his bratty, elusive ways. He reminded me a bit of Peter Pan (I'm a fan of the classics), bouncing into cause mischief and then skipping away.
I feel like this could have been a bit spookier, though I believe this was just me comparing the story to one of my favorite ghost/romance stories (which I'm sorry is irrelevant to the review of the actual book!), called Jack the American Ghost, which didn't skimp on the spooks. Dealing with ghosts, I feel like there could have been more hair-raising moments, as there weren't really (I know, I know it's more of a demon book, but I saw ghosts in some tags and I was waiting for it).
I really love the dramatic flashback (I won't detail it, because that would be a spoiler), as I felt there was a lot of lead-up to it and it was as painful and dramatic as I was hoping it would be.
I do think that there was a disconnect to who Alastor 'was' and who he is 'now,' though I believe that he is supposed to be different, obviously. But I wish there had been more resolution as to WHY, an epiphany/ paradigm shift on his part (his past greed, as an example). I felt that was lacking a bit.
Overall fantastic read. And after nearly every Emma Jaye book I read, I hint at needing the second Malthusia book! (hint, hint :)

POV(s): Dual—Third Person
Relationship: M/M

“He claims to be a minor demon, trapped by the curse Harry Grimshaw mentioned, not the ghost of Nicholas Thatcher.”

After staring at him, open-mouthed for a few seconds, the sister he knew so well, and frankly feared a little, emerged.

“Are you fucking kidding me? A demon? You’re playing kinky dominance games with a creature from Hell?”

Feeling about ten years old again, Darien muttered, “A very minor demon, an imp, he said.”

I loved the historical aspects and the hint of mystery mixed in. I was a bit frustrated with the ending

I had a wonderful time reading this book. It had a perfect mix between its humoristic tone and a bit on angst, that is something I always enjoy in the books I choose to read. The romance has a nice development,  feeling more slow burn.

The story was captivating. I will admit that I struggle a little bit at the start. It took me a bit to be totaly involved with it,  but once I got to certain point, I found myself unable to put it down.  The plot was fascinating. I wanted to know more and more about what was going on and the possible outcome. I love the combination between contemporary, historical and paranormal genres, which made the experience so unique.

The main characters were also interesting. I loved Alastor so much. He was a beautiful character.  I love that he wasn't perfect, he had a lot of regrets and so much insecurity on him. It was beautiful getting to know him. Darien was also very nice, he had some moments when he made me mad, but he was very caring and I think everyone will love him as well.

As for the romance, it does have a beautiful relationship that develops in a slow burn way, so we do have to wait a bit, but the wait is worthy.

There were very few things I didn't like about it, and even those last very little time, so overall it was a wonderful experience . Definitely a recommended book.

I loved this newest entry in the DeMMonica world. Intrigue, mystery lies, betrayal, murder, captivity, and so much angst. For those of you who shy away from 'dark' themes or harsh BDSM, know that that does not occur between the MCs, although one MC is shown having voluntary sex in the past with elements of power exchange that could be considered abusive. I didn't find it excessive, but if you have ANY triggers, be forewarned. Also, there is moral ambiguity as one character freely admits to murdering, or leading to their deaths, many people. As far as that is concerned, this is one of those cases where everyone pretty much deserves what they get...bad and good. End of disclaimers.🤣

There are so many twists and turns, here, and a long flashback to the past, that you will likely find yourself alternately despising and pitying Alastor and having no idea how everything will work out or if there is a hope for an HEA. I couldn't help rooting for Alastor. He made some bad decisions. but so many of them were the result of his circumstances and the times he was born into. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and I loved getting to see Avery and Silas from the Incubus series again. You don't have to have read those books, but if you have, you will enjoy how the author intertwines the stories.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

IMPrisoned is certainly a unique read. It took me a little bit to get into the story but once I did I was hooked. Alastor is an imp with a mission and Darien the key to breaking his curse. While there are quite a bit of questionable actions taken some side characters, I didn't feel like the book as a whole was dark. Definitely heated between Alastor and Darien but Darien worked to help Alastor and there wasn't any manipulation between the main couple (with the exception of impish pranks). I loved the bratty Alastor and definitely was wishing he'd come out on top. Darien was a little lackluster for me and sometimes his obsession with history overshadowed the relationship he was building with Alastor. Over all, there are a lot of quirky side characters who I quite enjoyed (most of those being in the paranormal realm) and I thought the pacing was fairly good. The only time it dragged was when we got to finally see Alastor's backstory. I thought this was a fun read and a really unique take on the imp/demon and human relationship!

New to me, author, so not read previous books in this series.

I was lucky enough to get an arc copy of this book, and the author or publisher has not influenced my review. These are my words.

I absolutely loved Alastor the mischievous Imp. For over 300 years, Alastor has been cursed to remain on the Warpole estate in England until all surviving male Warpoles are dead. Alastor has lived there for four centuries in the same shirt and is more than fed up and horny.
Then Darien arrives from America with his sister to sell the house on behalf of the last owner.
This book has lots of funny moments, but I don't want to spoil the story for you, but it had me hooked from the beginning. I love the attention to historical detail when reliving all the untimely deaths of the Warpole men.
I hadn't read the previous book in the series before this one, and I believe you can read this as a stand-alone as I did. I will, however, go back and read the first book now.

Well worth reading, in my opinion.

IMPishly delightful

It’s official, Emma Jaye has forever cursed me: I’m in love with demons and I don’t wanna ever look back. I flove this amazing, angsty world, the tricky but always lovable characters, and the clever and brilliant world-building. It’s an immersive experience when you visit the DeMMonica world and it’s one I never want to leave. In fact, I wish I could pop myself over to it whenever I want, so, pretty much daily.

“Alastor was a supernatural being, yet Darien had the power to make his every wish come true.” I don’t know about you, but for me, wishes do come true and they come in the form of Alastor and Darien. Gah, these two. Alastor pulled at my heartstrings, and Darien healed them with his care. So many layers, so many surprises, my heart wants more. More of what, well, everything when it comes to this fantastic series. So skidaddle, skidoodle your way right to this book!

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review.  Oh that is just to mean, because between now what is going on in that room with Arioch and Fabian. And the Alastor's song to the 13th earl.  (well played Emma, well played!)  Only Alastor wasn't expecting someone like Darien, The cheekiness of this read was amazing who would have thought a imp was about to meet his match. As the last bloodline of the Walpole lineage, Darien was lost the fascination of Walpole Hall
When a strange ginger with bruising in Elizabethan wear, Darien looking forward to his time with the troubling guy. Darien had a thing for fixing broken people and even with the instant attraction between them Alastor  was hitting every one of those buttons. But there was things happening at the hall that was unexplainable, maybe he was slap deprived or seeing ghost, had ghoulish legends of warning borrowed into his imagination. An imp caught in the crosshairs of a witches curse, chained for revenge. Welcome to the world of strange and eroticism of the underworld, with Darien downfall Alastor is hopeful the curse placed over him will be lefted. Eighty years of pintup frustration makes Alastor one irritated imp. So ,such could go wickedly wrong in the ten day he had Darien there, when the unexpected appears of Avery and Silas nosing around. Even when Alastor isn't trying to torment the heirs he is still succeeding, because how is will jumping had killed him! dang he is hilarious as he goes about it.

I received a ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a great read; I loved it! I had a hard time putting it down, I wanted to stay up late to finish it, but it was not feasible. I was immersed in Emma Jaye’s book IMPrisoned. I did not know how this book would end. The characters did a good just concealing it; it was satisfying to read the story unfold.

Alastor was my favorite main character. There were some chapters where he made me laugh and others where Alastor made me feel deeply.

Darien was also a great main character. The strong and caring nature Darien had towards Alastor was so cute! I will not spoil the plot as books are more fun without spoilers. Even so, I enjoyed the magic system and Emma Jaye’s creation of supernatural creatures, and the setting she created was engaging. IMPrisoned is my first book by this author; I hope to read more of her work in the DeMMonica series.

Emma Jaye has done it again! Not that I had any doubt.

Her DeMMonica world is rich with wonderful, sassy, morally ambiguous characters that you cannot help but love (or love to hate). The imp, Alastor, is no different.

Trapped by a curse for over three hundred years and doomed to eliminate the male line of the Walpoles in order to secure his release, Alastor is limited to the grounds of Walpole Hall and visible only to Walpole's male heirs. Then Darien, a long-lost heir, enters the Hall.

Has Alastor met his match and can Darien uncover the historical truth about the curse of this mischievous imp? Emma Jaye lays it all out for you in this well-paced, humourous, vengeful and delightful book.

New to DeMMonica books? I highly recommend starting at the beginning of Incubus book one if you enjoyed this novel which is a standalone. Then work your way through all Emma Jaye's books - you won't be disappointed.

Little IMP just needed some direction 😂

So loved Alastor
He was a tad out of hand at the beginning - pre-D
But that's what 400 yrs of abuse and hopelessness can do to a demon
But Darien, despite his disbelief in demons and such, saw a lost boy who needed someone to love him and a firm hand
He never could pass up a needy sub

This had lots of sweet moments that incited the "Awww" or made me smile. It had a few angsty ones too that brought out the mama bear in me.

Jaye did a fabulous job of bringing the cast to life
There were some I would have liked to toss into the stocks, one I wanted to cuddle and wrap in bubble wrap (after he spent some time in the corner), and others I was left curious about - Though I know I will get to know them better in future episodes

IMPrisoned was an endearing romance with all kinds of plot twists, some suspense, a bit of mystery, and plenty of smoking smexy moments

There’s a lot to be said about a character who can weather hundreds of years over the course of a single story (under some intense circumstances, no less). Alastor is compelling in all kinds of ways, and I loved all the facets of his personality, from the soft to the sharp and, of course, the funny and the bratty. He’s the heart, soul, and animating spirit of a story that’s well worth reading (I won’t spoil any plot details, but if you’re up for some intriguing supernatural elements, some angst, some moral ambiguity, and an engrossing narrative, as well as some strong chemistry between Alastor and Darien, whose connection is…beyond complicated…then this is a good fit for you.) Well worth a read.

Emma Jaye has done it again. This is another story that pulls you in from the first page. This is what I call a slow burn love story. Alastor is an imp who cursed to live in Walpole Hall until all the Walpole heirs are no more. As the last heir of the Walpole line, Darien was lost to the fascination of Walpole Hall. He meets Alastor who is bruised and battered. They both have many things to work through. I love all the supporting characters as well. This book has amazing world building in it. Any book that can make me laugh and cry out loud is one I would recommend and this one did both.

And just when I thought Emma couldn't surprise me again, that I knew (and oh so loved) her style she turned the tables and delivered something so engaging you'd think I've never read one her Demmonica series books (what are we at number 11? 13?). A fresh style that will throw you straight away into the story never giving away all the details, this book will keep you on your toes and fill you with doubts about the plot just when you think you have it all figured out!
Fantasy, reality, history, amazing characters, revenge, love, lust and obviously... ANGST cause... Who's the Queen?!
Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When I finished reading this book, I had one word: EXCELLENT!! That is still the word I use for this book. Emma knows how to suck you in and keep going. I had a very difficult time putting this book down. Absolutely LOVE this bratty imp! Alastor is the gem of this story. He seriously needs serval spankings. And the sex scenes, off the charts HAWT! I love how Alastor still has a sense of humor after all those years, yet was beyond vulnerable. I was so stoked to see Emma put this in her Incubus world and pull those characters into the story. I just LOVE Avery. Silas is entertaining too and maybe someday we'll get a backstory on Arioch.

Alastor is a troublesome little imp always causing mischief and chaos. I loved the little brat's cheeky responses
Darien has decided that he is going to 'help' Alastor with his bratty attitude. But how exactly do you punish a demon?
There is mystery, intrigue and discovery that kept my attention through out the story

As usual for Emma Jaye, a very well written book. Not quite as dark as some of her other works. There are a lot of funny parts, I especially like some of Alastor's pranks. Even though he's likeable enough, I didn't fell as much of a connection to Darien. There just didn't seem to be as much depth to the character other than wanting to help subs in need. This is for an ARC.

Poor little Alastor has been waiting a long time but maybe not for what he thinks he's waiting for. Darien is a perspicacious Dom able to see the brat in his house for what he is... sort of... eventually... well it works out in the end. The journey to that end is sweet in it's way and I loved the relationship between Alastor and Darien as well as the interplay of the secondary characters. I found this a thoroughly enjoyable story.

Not what I was expecting

I freely admit dom/sub situations aren't my thing. Had I realised there were such elements in the book before I started I probably wouldn't have read it. That would have been a shame. The D/s element is light enough I kept turning each page. I found the story interesting, engaging, sad and tender. You can't help caring for Alastor, despite all he's done. We too, are often products of our own making. Given the ending, I'm hoping to see more of the characters in coming books to see how they've faired.
