I came to warn them, but instead I put them in the line of fire.
Now one piece of my heart is missing, while the other pieces are forced to leave behind everything they’ve ever known to protect me.
The truth about who I am and where I came from weighs on me. Is anything real?
All I know for sure is that the people responsible for bringing me into the world are the very ones putting the only family I have ever known in danger. But I will stop at nothing to keep them safe. I will use everything they gave me against them and risk everything to take them down.
Little do they know, a reckoning is coming.
Retribution is the follow up novel to Progeny. The action and the spice in this sci-fi/ contemporary reverse harem novel are turned up as Six and her men face the unknown. Please refer to the author’s note for content warnings.
I love this duet so much! I love Six & our guys! This book was a fun ride, Emotional, action packed full of sexy times & love! Medical mystery tied up good & HEA was cool! I'd definitely loved a epilogue, but a sometime future novella will work too.
I shamelessly want more of this goodness! A solid start as an author for Rebecca with this duet!

This is the second book in the 'Progeny' duology. 'Retribution', is an aptly named, and stunning conclusion to the medical, sci-fi, reverse-harem romance series. This book is non-stop action from beginning to end and packs an emotional, heat-filled punch.
This book picks up right where 'Progeny' left off. One of our heroes has been taken by the very enemy responsible for Six's (our h) trauma. He is tortured and forced to undergo medical experimentation. He refuses to give up any information and they make him suffer for it. Six and the guys rally to perform a rescue mission, with the help of some allies, but it is not without cost. What they are driven to do to save each other, to save their family, will scar them. When they leave, all will be irrevocably changed by the experience. Some will bear physical injuries but all will wear psychological wounds that will last a lifetime.
The evidence they collect is far reaching and puts them in more danger than ever. More conspirators and plots are revealed. More threats are made. More people, on both sides, are willing to risk everything to keep Six in their possession. Six is not a damsel though. In this story, the 'Good Girl' is going to save herself and dish out some 'Retribution' at the same time.
This book overwhelmingly exceeded my expectations. It was suspenseful, riveting, steamy, and edge-of-your-seat, fantastic reading. The relationship and banter between the characters was stellar and had me both tearing up and laughing. The writing was excellent and a true joy to devour as a avid reader. It also had lots of heat.
5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future. 4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it. 3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories. 2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort. 1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.
Bring your fans and a glass of cold water people, this book brings the heat! Similar to the first installment, this book was quick-paced, action-packed but suspenseful. I almost feel like words cannot do justice for my thoughts on this book. It was perfect - every single word. This book picks up immediately where the previous book left off - we're reacquainted with Six and her harem. After reading the first book, I felt so connected to these characters - the second book only solidified it. The character development and world-building was great - I honestly feel like I know them all so well...
Six, our badass heroine, is tough. She's smart and she meets everything that is thrown at her head on. No matter the obstacle, she's going to do whatever it takes to make her men happy and keep them as safe as she can.
I loved seeing the all of the relationships grow and bloom. Each of the men are so different and have such defining qualities that we can easily distinguish between them... Lukas, our sweater-vest wearing overthinker, and Micah, the resident Adonis, are quite the pair. They have grown together but also individually (both treading outside their comfort zone). We get a real feel that there's more to Jackson than meets the eye - I love that the crew cares enough to realize his joking nature is really hiding deep routed feelings. Bennet, always in control, even when the odds are against him and it seems impossible. Luis, oh Luis... Not only is this tatted alpha rocking a monster sized package, he's protective as ever of their family - I love his dangerous side. (I also secretly love that's he's a big teddy bear for our girl!)
Rebecca did an incredible job of wrapping this duet up - I honestly wanted it to go on FOREVER. The path to "the end" was excruciating - I laughed, I swooned, I got angry... at times, I didn't know if I could even deal with what was happening. The mix of plot and spice was just right- I also felt like the steamy scenes served a purpose (yes, a higher purpose than feeding my smutty little soul). The crew was dealing with so much, one hit after another, they came together as a coping mechanism or an escape. It made the characters so raw and real for me... The events, secrets and twists throughout this story kept me intrigued throughout - I read the entire book in a few hours. The things Six dealt with in the past were absolutely tragic - it's a wonder she is who she is. Will this new family be able to save each other? Will that even be enough given the ever increasing threats to Six?
This duet has been one of my favorites so far this year. This book is like the perfect cocktail... love, tension, drama, and spice with a little twist of sci-fi; I highly recommend it for all you RH lovers!
Wow. This book was absolutely above the last book. The group scenes were 😱and I love how Rebecca ended the series. Some authors try to end it with an ending. But the way she ended it felt like real life. Like you could just insert yourself there and keep going. This book spent a lot of time building up to something, and then a lot of time waiting for something else to happen, but it was very well thought out, very well executed, and fantastic ending to Rebecca's first series.
This is a review for the Duology Progeny, which includes both books. I liked the first book better than the second book. But I had three major hang ups with this Duology: There was an Epilogue at the beginning of the first book and it mentioned a tracker. The tracker was removed. But the way it was removed was not authentic. I do not want to go into detail here, but if you are interested, read the spoiler.
The next hang up was about DNA and Blood Plasma. All science fact were not explained at all and they don’t seem right.
And my last hang up was that the second book was at least 50% smut. We have an important meeting, wait put some smexy times in. I don’t know how they got anything done with only one thing on their mind?
So you see: There were good ideas in this book, I really wished that science facts would have been researched in great detail to come up with an authentic story line. A lot of things at the end stay unexplained. But there were good ideas too and I liked the slow relationship building in the first book. All in all I’m not gone rate this book, because I really don’t want to give less than 3 stars.
This book had me on edge waiting to find out what had happened to Bennet after book one . I love all the guys and how they care for each other and Six and I think Tony needs his own book…. you hearing that Rebecca. Reading this it’s hard to believe Rebecca’s a baby author and this is only her second book as it’s just so good and I can’t wait to see what she brings us next. Retribution: Progeny Duet Book 2Rebecca Rathe
Absolutely loved this book!! As soon as I finished Progeny I was impatient for retribution to be released. Did not disappoint!! Jackson and Luis are my favourite characters by far but they are all incredibly well written and different. And the 🌶🌶🌶!!! Would highly recommend!
Wow! I just finished this and I’m going to need a day or two to calm down before I write my review. All I can say for now is damn Rebecca that was HOT! . . Ok so it's been a few days and I'm still processing this book. I absolutely loved the first book in the duet 'Progeny' and Rebecca outdid itself with the conclusion. It was everything I could have wanted and more.
The story's suspense was on point and the chemistry between the characters just got hotter and hotter. The plot had me hooked from the first book and this one had me so deep I was on edge in more ways than one.
We get to learn a lot more about each of the guys and from Six's past and honestly there is a lot they've gone through. They really are destined to be together and it has nothing to do with what pulled them toward each other in the first place.
I am in love with this story and I will be sure to reread it again soon.
Rebecca I can't wait to see what comes next from you. I can only imagine it's going to get better. . . . Bennett is taken and the rest of the group are terrified for him. They know his father is pure evil and have no idea what he has in store for him. While trying to keep Six safe they will do everything they can to find where Bennet is and save him too.
Bennett is getting a glimpse at just how evil his father is and what Six went through. He plans to let his father do whatever he wants to him because he will never let him have Six in his clutches again. 'I will never take you for granted again, Six. I'll never think of you as a vulnerability again.'
Luis is feeling the intense pressure of losing Bennett. He's trying to keep everyone together, find and save Bennett and get Six out of harm's way for good. Without Bennett's unbelievable ability to stay a few steps ahead he's not sure how to do all of that. 'My love will burn down the world to keep it from happening.'
Jackson hates that he let them get Bennett but now back with the others, it's time to form a plan and get him back. His relationship with the others is important to him and since he lost his mother nothing has felt like home until now. Jackson starts to explore his feelings and attraction toward Micah and Lukas. His feelings for Six are as strong as ever though. 'It's like an animal takes over. She makes me feel wild. I don't care if I never come up for air. I'd gladly die this way.'
Lukas tries to use his analytical brain to work out how to save Bennett and what they can do to keep Six out of the hands of those hunting her. He has no doubts now that his feelings for Micah are rock solid and what he's building with Six is coming to mean just as much. 'She is truly something special. I'm usually more of a rational person than spiritual, but I would say that Six was made for us.'
Micah strong on the inside and out holds the group together using all of the skills he was pushed to develop over the years. Having his medical skills and knowledge will save them all at some point. It's his love for not only Lukas but Six that keeps him going day after day. 'She is a drug, Strong. Euphoric. Addictive.'
Six is hurting without Bennett it feels as if a piece of her is missing. Using every bit of training the guys will give her and using their bodies for release is the only thing holding her together while they hunt for Bennett. 'I am sure that I've never had love or a family until now. And there is nothing I wouldn't do to keep us all safe and together, just as we are in this perfect moment.'
Their plan doesn't go as well as hoped but they manage to get Bennett to safety but he's in a bad way they have no idea if he'll make it. What they discovered while rescuing him though shows them that everything goes a lot deeper than they thought and they aren't going to be able to do it on their own.
With Jackson injured and Bennett on the edge of death, they may be back together but for how long. Thankfully Bennett's trusted security specialist Tony is able to offer them some help and with him behind the scenes just maybe there is a chance.
Solid 4.5 from me! In the second installment of Rebecca Rathe’s debut duet, we have the conclusion of Six’s story….You’re in for a roller coaster ride. First, we have the excitement and intrigue of figuring out how to get Bennett back from the clutches of his father. And then once we’ve reached the peak of that excitement (like I was really going to give any of that away…) we’re kept on the edge of our seat… meanwhile we get to see Six’s interactions with the rest of the group as they continue to form a tight knit group and found family. Just when you think that things are settling down, we get another exciting peak and rush to the end. We do, in-fact get an HEA. I think its hard earned and well deserved. I would have loved to have seen an epilogue where Six gets to experience a bit of the outside world, as she hasn’t had any exposure to much like an amusement park, or movie theater, or even just a shopping trip to the mall. It would have been fun to experience that with her and her guys in a non-threatening environment. Maybe we’ll get a treat or a cameo in another book. One character that we never met in person, but proved to be invaluable to the team, Tony, I would love to hear more about him. He’s Bennett’s go to man, and the group only communicated to him on the phone. But anyway, I digress- the story was well written, and had me biting my nails at some points and fanning myself at other points. Lots of spice here, lots of group scenes. Six has what seems to be an insatiable appetite. And I’m not talking about food. So if you’re looking for an enjoyable story with some adventure, with plenty of spice, then you won’t be disappointed.
I don’t even know where to start. The completion of this duet was a thrilling, tingling, undergarment-melting rollercoaster. And what a beautiful ride it was!
Retribution picks up right where Progeny left off and is non-stop action (allllllllll the action) from beginning to end. This book had me feeling all the emotions and I connected with this family of Six so well. The character development over the course of these two books was absolutely fantastic, and Rebecca Rathe has done such a great job of respectfully and deliciously writing MMM relationships and love. The group dynamics are all at once hilarious, tender, loving and oh so sexy; but the special one on one moments (ok, sometimes two on one) are so sweet and well executed. The bonds between this group are unbreakable and the love they share for each other is deep, real and lasting.
When I say this book brings the heat; I mean you could sit in an Olympic-sized pool of ice and it would melt in 30 seconds. It’s spicy but it’s also plot and story driven. Showers will never be the same.
4.5 stars!!! I couldn't wait to get started on this one. I fell in love with this little family by the end of the 1st book and was so happy to see them again. I was so emotionally gutted over Bennet and so happy that they got their HEA with him in the end... but omg I was crying with them. And the spice was so good. I loved the dynamics with the full group, but also very much loved the relationship between Micha, Lukas and Jackson too. The plot progressed so fast and I couldn't stop reading once they made it to the safe house.
I also have a bit of a soft spot for Tony, he came thru for them in so many ways.
The relationship between Luis and Bennet was also so nice to see it develop. Bennet clearly trusted him to make the best decisions, and the way they were in the end just made me smile.

This was a fantastic ending to the duet. Book 1 took us through the background of Six and the five guys drawn to her. But this book, oh it takes you to the edge of the cliff and throws you over without a cord or net to catch you. I laughed, cried, got angry and laughed again. Rebbeca not only found a way to pack in all the angst, heartache, anger and heart attacks. She really did such an amazing job getting to the heart of it, without extra filler and still made the book rich in character and world development. You will fall for these characters and think about them long after the last sentence.
Ugh🥵🌶🖤 this book I swear. I loved the first book, Progeny, sooo much and Retribution just completely blew me away. This series and this book has introduced me to a whole new trope that I didn’t even know I loved. And on top of all of that, the humor in this book is so awesome. I was laughing out loud so many times. I was also crying at one point. And yelling at the book. And smiling. It’s just….god I love it. 😍😍😍🖤🖤🖤
Science fiction, RH romance book, be sure to check author warnings!
I didn’t really care for this second book. I thought it was a little chaotic & not strong exposition wise.
I am caught up on how frequently Six’s memory loss is brought up in the first book, only for it to not be of importance in this one. She never regains her memories, and it honestly doesn’t seem to matter. Lol
Loved, loved, loved! This book brings out all the feels! It’s a perfect way to wrap up the story and after everything these characters have been through and go through they get their HEA. And the spice is off the charts H.O.T. 🔥

Bennet had kissed Six goodbye before leaving her earlier. Six, Luis, Micah and Lukas had been driving for 10 hours now, all through the day, with only a couple of hours left. Jackson had followed Bennet, and it hadn’t been good. Jackson watched Bennet be shoved into the trunk of a car. Bennet has been taken to another facility in Raleigh, North Carolina, one with armed guards, and a ridiculous amount of state of the art security.
Jackson sent out an SOS to the others and told them to run away from the B&B to the cabin in the woods to be safe. He would meet them there and make a new plan. With Tony the cyber security expert, they crafted a plan to break into the BioCere building to break out Bennet.
But their plans end up going horribly wrong, risking all of their lives, putting Six in more danger, one of them ending up with catastrophic injuries, and another clinging to life. Their family of six is falling apart, and their journey is just beginning.
This book was incredibly riveting. I stayed up far later than I should have just to see what happened!! It was so hard to pull myself away from this book in order to attend to real life! I haven’t been that invested in a book in a long time!
A couple of thoughts I had about this book: It is very different than book 1, and extremely heavy on the RH action. If that is how you like your books, this is totally the book for you! This book has the feel of a Shayla Black/Lexi Blake Scandal Never Sleeps vibe. It is romance heavy and mixed with a heavy dose of mystery, sci-fi, and suspense. I have a love/hate relationship with series that are short like this. On one hand, they don’t drag on, they get to the point, there is none of that “middle book” drudgery like Star Wars #5, LotR #2, Back To The Future #2, or any other middle sibling book- You know, the dull ones that are just there to explain more plot, to move the story forward, and the boring stuff you need to get to in order to make it to the end, where the real action happens! On the other hand, I get so attached to the characters, I feel a pang of sadness when the series comes to an end! I don’t want to leave this new world that was created, this new home that I have found with this new family I am now invested in. But it is also good, because I can close this book, leave them right where they are, and come back to visit any time I want. Luis’s MC will always be there waiting for me when I return ;)
This book was really well written, I loved how the story unfolded, and it left me on the edge of my seat, especially at 38% when it felt like we had “wrapped up”, but it was FAR from over! Excellent work!
Refresh your memory on book 1 with my book review of Progeny here
Character Summary: Micah Williams- Described as the “Chiseled Adonis” gorgeous amber eyes and a wide, kind smile. He brings out the best in everyone. He was together with Lukas Anderson 4 years ago, but his parents didn’t approve of the relationship. Micah graduated from Cambridge. He has a background in medicine. His father is a surgeon at the local hospital.
Lukas Anderson- Awkward and anxious on the outside, and cautious with his love. Extremely tall at 6 foot 5. Blue eyes and messy blonde hair. Academic vibes, wears thick glasses and sweater vests. Usually drives the van. Nerdy guy, but a caring and assertive lover who cares more about you than himself.
Luis Posa- Tough exterior, but really a big teddy bear. Would watch the world burn before he let anything happen to Six. Kept Six safe from day one. Bennet’s half-brother. Olive colored skin covered in colorful tattoos. Brown, close cropped hair and green eyes. Usually the muscle of the operations.
Bennet Adley- The dominating one of the group, often the brains behind the operations. He puts himself in harm’s way to keep everyone else safe. Born leader, people naturally want to follow him. Full of charisma and intelligence. Tall, dark, and handsome. Tan skin, dark green eyes. Ruthless father who he would like nothing to do with. Has a need to control all the things. Ready to dismantle the empire he will inherit.
Jackson Boyd- Bennet’s other half brother. Struggles with depression and anxiety. Uses humor and jokes to lighten his mood and the mood in the room. Is playful, loving, and funny on the outside, but creates profound emotional connections to those around him. Owns B&B they use as a safe house. Was partially raised by Mr and Mrs Coolson.
Six- Born in a lab on the East Coast, destined to die there before she made her escape. Had one other alive clone named 8. Has severe memory loss, but is mostly ok with that since most of her memories before waking up in the hospital would have been about the torture sustained in the lab. Retains all information she is taught and shown. Light gray eyes.
Mr. Jackson Adley- Bennet’s father, a real psychopath who will stop at nothing to get the Progeny back, even going as far as to hurt his own son. Dark green menacing eyes
I don't usually read this genre (spicy ... very spicy... ghost pepper spicy 🔥... by far the spiciest thing I have ever read), but this was fast-paced, well-written, and the plot kept me turning the page. Parts of it I pictured as an action movie as I was reading. Will definitely read anything written by this author!
The second book of the Progeny duett. Retributon is a whirlwind , Fast paced, action packed and full of delicious spicy scenes which might be illegal in several states/countries. But oh My gosh how I loved it. I also love how the characters developed from Progeny through Retribution, specially Bennet and Louis, and I'm officially in love with Jackson and I absolutely love the tidy ending, no loose ends in sight. To Rebecca: What a debut and I can't wait to read what you come up with next. I think I have a girl- crush on you
Wow! Rebecca Rathe is an amazing author. The story in this second book is unique, well written and the characters are great. The story line flows well and has a lot that is unexpected but ends in a happy ending. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes reverse harems. Pre Order it today.
Having sex when one of you was being tortured? Having sex in almost every single chapter? Thinking about sex when one of you was actively dying? Yeah no. There’s smut and there’s this book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Who knew sharing could be this hot?
Book Review: I loved part two of the Progeny Duet. It is smut-heavy but still balanced by an entertaining plot line with loads of action.
There are MF, MFM, MM, MMF, and group scenes, including MM bi-awakening (MMM).
Audiobook Review: This book is not safe for listening in public places. You will find yourself blushing, and your pulse racing as Jake and Bridget Bordeaux give life to Six and her men. Jake's sexy growl as he reads the MMCs' parts goes right to your core.
Highly recommended and well worth a credit.

Not a proper review, just some random thoughts I had while while reading this.
I think My erotica days are over. I love spice in a romance but I think I’m at a place where I like 80% story/20% sex. This book is the opposite. The FMC has a breakdown. Sex ensues. Rinse, repeat. Almost every single chapter.
Then one of the guys is in a horrible situation, followed by a sexual fantasy and masturbation. Kind of made me remember the scene with Jaime and Randall from Outlander, but not nearly as bad (if you know, you know).
Lots of mm action and group activities.
I haven’t figured out how she knows so much after living her entire life as a lab rat. I get she is advanced and learns quickly - but she needs content to learn. Where did she get that content.
I can’t decide if I get annoyed with the FMC because of how her character is written or because of the female narrator.
I finished this one but skimmed a lot to get to the end.
In Progeny we met Six and her men and watched as they began to explore their relationships while trying to figure out who Six is and why she can’t remember anything from before she met the guys.
In Retribution, they continue both journeys, but this time we are all strapped onto a multi-stage rocket headed for the stratosphere!!!
I’m serious here, each time it seems the story is leveling out and preparing to move into a nice smooth ending, WHOOSH… another stage of the story comes along, pushing us back into our booster seats and praying we can hold on! It’s just not fair to us poor readers, all these extra adrenaline dumps are bad for our book loving hearts!
And Rebecca does this to us like 3 or 4 times in Retribution!!! She’s a sadist I tell ya!!
If you can’t tell from what I've already written, I loved this book and am thrilled to have met Six and her band of not so merry men!
A few of my favorite quotes:
“It took all of this happening for me to realize just how important everyone has become to me. Especially you and Micah, but all of them. Every single one of these guys has become such an important part of my life and I cannot imagine living life without all of us. We really are a family.”-Lukas
“I can't tell you how many times I would sit at my desk and fantasize about having you here. It would distract me, and that felt like weakness. I was angry at myself for being weak, but when I was taken away from you, I realized that the real weakness was not being brave enough to go for what I wanted, to tell you how you affected me.”-Bennet
What a fantastic conclusion to the duet. After Progeny I couldn’t wait to find out what was next, and thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long. Retribution is aptly named, and I really enjoyed watching these guys get justice for both Bennet and Six. This book is spicy! 🔥🔥🔥 There is a ton of spice and steam, you've been warned. I loved the relationship growth between Six and her guys, as well as getting to learn more about each of them. While things were falling apart around them, they still found time to be with each other rather than pushing each other away. With all the trauma they’ve had to endure it’s heartwarming to see everyone rally around Six and Bennet. There are definitely some triggers so beware ahead of time, t0rt*re, abuse, mental health issues, and the like. It’s an emotional read that will send you all over the spectrum. I laughed, I cried, I yelled, I got angry, etc. While there was a lot of spice, there was still a great plot that kept me guessing until the end. I really enjoyed it; I love how everything came together beautifully. I am sad to see these guys go but I think they got the Retribution they deserved. I can’t wait to see what Rebecca comes up with next!
Wow, what a follow up and perfect ending to the story of Six, Luis, Jackson, Bennet, Lukas, and Micah. I’ve been waiting on pins and needles since Progeny ended to see how everything would play out, and I was absolutely NOT disappointed in the slightest. The spice was incredible, the sassy/snark was perfect, but the relationships were excellent! I don’t want to spoil anything, but I still have many things going through my head, like MC, ham sandwiches, side effects. The humor was on point, with everyone, but Six’s humor is evolving with her confidence. I would love a Jackson in my life, even if it was just for the comments, because he had me laughing ridiculously too many times to count. Lukas is still an anxious guy, but his streak of confidence makes you burn. Micah’s strong but sweet personality will make you swoon. Luis’ insane possessiveness gives that wow feeling. But, Daddy Bennet, hot dang, I want to say yes, sir and be a good girl! Rebecca did a wonderful job developing, writing, and finishing her first duet and I cannot wait to see what she creates next!
OMG! Rebecca out sis herself in the follow up to progeny! This story picks right up where book 1 ends. Jackson let’s the gang know that Bennett is in big trouble after being kidnapped by his father. The gang comes up with a plan to save him! As they are planning the relationships between 6 and her men blossom and there are some unexpected surprises! This book is HOT and STEAMY! Those MM scenes are enough to make one blush and get a little wet. The story is fairly predictable but I enjoyed reading it none the less! I was so proud of 6 and how far she came into trusting herself. I felt like the book was wrapped up nicely. It didn’t leave any unanswered questions or feel too rushed! Highly recommend!
