The Monkey Meat Company has fallen! The culprit? Golo, a tiny, brainless boy whose obsessive consumption of the simian carne drove the entire island to ruin. But not all is lost for a brighter future, as Golo is chosen for a quest that could make him into the hero of a better age! If he could just think about something other than meat…

This story was so enjoyable, its core reminds me a ton of Godzilla in the way humanity paves the way for a creature to cause their own end…only for a twist reminiscent to the end of the TV show travelers, lol, IYKYK. No one knows where he came from, but an obsessed consumer by the name of Golo arrived on the island. And after a month the entire society of monkey meat collapsed. Dressed in his monkey meat merch and equipped with a can opener mace, he silently attacked heavily guarded locations across the island to get to the hordes of monkey meat inside! Within two weeks there wasn’t a warehouse left of a can unopened. He then turned to feeding off the monkey population as the company’s stocks falling in the gutter. This led to a speech from the salesman, proclaiming they have their best hunting the beast down…only for Golo to rush in and eat the salesman as well. I’m sure you can see the similarities to Godzilla, just replace a desire to eat monkey meat with the nuclear bomb. Making the next bit even funnier as a last resort the company designed giant killer robots to hunt Golo down, a mechagodzilla if you will. Except of course it immediately got confused and saw everyone as its target and led to the island being doomed as it ripped through the cities and people.
Through all of this Golo kept on searching without finding a single can in weeks, if it’s even possible for him to starve he just might. He eventually ran into a woman escaping one of the robots, using his can opener weapon for good to rip the thing apart as he is the only one left on the island with the strength to defeat the robots. She brings him to the robot HQ where they drag all of the dead bodies, with the promise she will direct him to her secret stash of monkey meat if he finds a way to turn them off. That’s enough inspiration for this single minded warrior to rush in. Inside he comes across the spirits of the scientists who built the robots, stuck here because they were drunk off soul juice the night they finished repurposing the robots to hunt Golo…not realizing they made a mistake and the robots were targeting everything. A fatal oversight. But they direct him to the to way to fix this, how down one level is a mask design to control the machines and if he puts it on they will be a slave to his every thought and action. The souls pass on with the hope he will do good work the power they gave him, but of course the moment he gets control of the robots…he uses them to get more monkey meat.
But remember that travelers ending twist I mentioned, well spoiler alert…it was all a simulation from the salesman’s fortune telling machine! There is. 98% chance this future becomes a reality…unless they raise the price of monkey meat by 20%, LMAO. The issue ends with the salesman getting to business and calling together a meeting of the monkey meat board of directors with quite an interesting cast of characters. Their explanation is unstoppable and if anything bad happens their machine warns them about it. There is no getting rid of a corporate machine like this that easily, any threat that comes their way is simply monetized.
