Uncurled - everything I know and learned about running and maintaining Open Source projects for three decades.
I have been actively involved in Open Source development since the early 1990s when I discovered the phenomenon of people writing source code they give away freely for others to use and modify under a certain license.
A very short reading with some tips about working with open source projects (OSP). As a person who had worked with OSP for some years, I agree with most of the content of the book; but at the same time I'm not sure if the tips there would be useful for a beginner -- it's very different if you hear that from someone else about a project you've never worked for, and if you experience that on first hand. Maybe it will be useful for those who face the same issues/questions and see that other people faced the same things...
Anyway, this is a good reading if you're planning to start working on an OSP, as it shows some useful insights. And it's always nice to see people sharing their experience -- and the author has A LOT of that! This book wasn't that useful for me, but I'm sure it will be for others out there.
As a maintainer of a popular open source project myself, I found Daniel's insights into how to maintain a project/community very insightful, and I hope to incorporate some of his ideas into our projects.
