Ever feel like your entire world has been turned on its head? That’s how I’ve felt ever since the gang and I found out that Nan has been keeping major family secrets stashed neatly away in the attic.
What’s worse, she won’t stop talking about them now that they’re out in the open. I still have so many questions, though, like is she still the same woman I always assumed she was? And can I ever fully trust her again?
When Nan refuses to give me a straight answer, I invite my parents to join me for a cross-country train trip so that we can all discover the truth, once and for all.
Octo-Cat hitches a ride with us, too, and it’s a good thing he does, because it isn’t long before a dead body joins us in the dining car. Now we have two mysteries to solve, and fast—our lives and legacy depend on it.
Molly Fitz is the quirky, cozy mystery pen name of USA Today bestselling author, Melissa Storm. And while she can't technically talk to animals, she and her doggie best friend, Sky Princess, have deep and very animated conversations as they navigate their days. Add to that, five more dogs, a snarky feline, comedian husband, and diva daughter, and you can pretty much imagine how life looks in the Casa de Fitz.
Molly lives in a house on a high hill in the Michigan woods and occasionally ventures out for good food, great coffee, or to meet new animal friends.
Himalayan Hazard by Molly Fitz is the eighth Pet Whisperer PI novel. Angie Russo along with her parents and Octo-Cat, of course, are off to Larkhaven, Georgia to meet their newly discovered family. Nan had been keeping a major secret that came to light when Pringle stole some items that she had hidden in the attic. Octo-Cat refuses to board a plane and he dislikes long car trips, so that leaves them taking the train to Georgia. In the dining car, Angie meets fellow cat lover, Rhonda Lou Ella Smith and her cat Grizabella, a snooty Himalayan. Octo-Cat is instantly smitten with Grizabella and sets out to woo her. While catching a catnap, a cat scream awakens Angie and Octo-Cat. It is Grizabella who came out of the little kitten’s room to find her mistress dead. The train stops inside a long tunnel and the lights go out. Angie, with help from her eager mother as well Octo-Cat and Grizabella, sets out to catch a killer before he strikes again. Himalayan Hazard was a humorous story. I could not help but laugh at Octo-Cat falling in love. I like the author’s conversational writing style. It makes the story easy to read and it moves along at a swift pace. Himalayan Hazard can stand on its own if you have not read the other seven Pet Whisperer PI novels. Angie and Octo-Cat are established characters that continue to evolve. I did miss Nan who is such a lively character. Grizabella was a great addition and added another dimension to the story. I was, though, disappointed with how Grizabella’s tale played out. Himalayan Hazard is an amusing cozy mystery with train travel, canoodling cats, a nicked necklace and a jarring journey.
Angie Russo, her mom and dad, and Octavius her cat took the train to Georgia to meet their extended family. The trip is disrupted when a murder occurs.
Well, Agatha Christie this ain't. Talk about contaminating a crime scene! I think I'm following the series now more out of habit than anything else, but I still love the initial idea and Octavius. And Nan, who is almost completely absent from this book. I also keep wondering why Paisley, Nan's Chihuahua, calls Angie "Mommy". Even I, a cat lover, knows about where a dog's loyalty lies, and "Mommy" is Nan.
I wish Molly Fitz would focus more on the strong points (Octavius and Nan) and less on Angie. Let's be realistic: Angie is the least competent of anyone in their team at investigating; she might be the "heroine" but she's not terribly interesting while Nan, Octavius - and all the animals - are. As the series progresses, the novellas seem to be more hastily put together, and shorter. There aren't many typos, but some really stand out: "to fine my charger" and "Why musts humans...". Ugh. And what about "violent killer" and "violent murderer"... who's a "violent criminal". Sigh.
All was not lost, however: I learned how fast a domestic cat can run, and I loved, loved, loved Grizabella - the Himalayan of the title. Alas, I was a bit disappointed with the ending. Oh and about the family issues from the past installment? Don't hold your breath, it's barely touched upon HIMALAYAN HAZARD is not a bad book, but it's not that great either.
This is an excellent series and I have read and reviewed each of the books, but I have to say that each one is better than the next. In this book, Angie, her parents and Octo-Cat set out on a train ride to Georgia to meet relatives they only recently discovered they had. Octo-Cat meets and falls in love with a beautiful Himalayan. When there is a murder on board, they all work together to find the culprit. If you haven’t read any books in this series I highly recommend starting with book 1.
Murder on the Orient Express gets the Angie and Octo-Cat treatment. A trip to visit their newly discovered family takes a deadly turn when Angie discovers the body of the woman who cornered her into conversation earlier. A little bit ‘locked room’ mystery and all the zany, catty humor we’ve come to expect from Angie and Octo-Cat. That was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to read what they get into next.
“My own family had a twisted backstory, one Mom and I had only recently discovered and still didn’t quite understand. But I would never in a million years hurt someone for answers—or for revenge.”
In this, Book 8 of the “Pet Whisperer PI” series, Angie and Octo-Cat are dealing with yet another murder, and it’s up to them to find the killer without ,literally, letting the cat out the bag. Add a crabby Himalayan cat and her human and one might wonder if the universe wasn’t challenging Angie to use all her sense, including her pet whispering abilities, to understand other human interaction, including her family’s.
In a story plucked straight out of film noir, Molly Fitz expands the Octo-cat world and he and Angie work together with Grizzabella to solve her mistress’ murder without strangling the new “client” in the process! I just love these books. 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it]
This is book 8 of the Pet Whisperer P I series, but can be read alone. Angie and her parents are on a train heading to Georgia to mee family members they did not know they had. The trip is halted because the train and its light have been shut down, there's a murder too.Angie had met Rhonda and Grizabella in the snack car and talked for a bit. Shortly after they parted ways someone killed Rhonda. Angie is left to investigate the murder since there is no police. Grab the book to see what happens. I actually enjoy these books. I like the premise and characters, but Molly needs to find out what a real investigator does. First, you just don't hang out a sign and call yourself a P.I.. There's a license involved, and the education and experience to get it. As a long time police officer, it rankles to see the main character's bumbling around without asking pertinent questions, or as in this book, bringing in six people into a murder scene, and having everyone prowl around like they were at a yard sale. A little research, or even watching Law and Order should give her some ideas about procedures. It would also be nice if she had some real paying clients. I'm with Octo Cat on this one.
The plot started of well. A trip to see her other family but the train journey ends in murder, the murder of a rich, lonely woman who has one true friend, her cat. A cat that Octo becomes completely besotted with. Take a broken down train, no lights, a dead body, a stuck up cat and stuck in the middle of nowhere. Can they break down the cat's haughty attitude attend get her to tell them all she knows. Will shish help to catch the killer? But what about Octo - will he ever forget his love? Will the journey be completed or will they turn back?
Hit it out the ballfield with this one. The storyline was great, not giving away “who done it” until the reader needed to know thus not messing up the story.
This being book 8 it like the others are stand alone but if you can read them in order I would highly recommend it. But if you can’t do let this great series go. But if you can read book 7 before this then you’ll understand a bit better the beginning of this book.
And yes like the others in this series I can recommend to my advanced preteen reading friends no language or sexual references
No snakes on a plane here! But there ARE cats on a train! Angela and her mom and dad are set to go meet their new family, but whilst on their way, a murder takes place and the victim has a very fussy cat, with whom Octavius falls madly in love. Angie and the two cats and her mom and dad must work together to find who killed the lady on the train. I loved this story! It was a lot of fun and a quick read. I recommend this story, and all the others in the Pet Whisperer PI series as well.
Angie and the crew, with the exception of Nan are on a train trip to meet long lost relatives. That is, until there is a murder to investigate. Octo-cat is besotted by the love of his life and together all the family and the two cats solve the murder and are instrumental in capturing the culprit. This was not the best of Molly Fitz's books but is still a good read. I received this book for free and happily give my honest review
I have been provided with a copy of Himalayan Hazard by the author for an impartial review. This is the eighth book in the brand-new Pet Whisperer P.I. series. I just absolutely loved getting to go back into this wonderful world with it’s amazing characters. I just had so much fun reading this story and I just didn’t want it to end and I was sad to turn the last page. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
Book 8. Angie has new found family in Ga. That means train trip for Angie and Octo-cat to visit the family and of course a murder is on board. Traveling with her mom and dad might just be the murder, NAW. Octo-Cat has a crush. I love all these books. I like how easy and fun they are. The cat is funny and how Angie deals with his just makes it all so great. I hope this series goes on for a good while. I think Molly is a fantastic writer.
Angie, her parents and Oct-Cat are on a train journey to meet her long lost family. As usual nothing goes to plan when fellow passenger and cat lover Rhonda is murdered. Can the group solve the murder with the help of Rhonda's cat Grizabella. Will Oct-Cat win Grizabella's affections
I was totally charmed by the Himalayan "guest star" in this novel in the series. I think Molly Fitz really knows how to make a magical cozy mystery seem practically believable to me. The reason for the train ride seemed plausible and not an awkward premise as can often happen when a cozy mystery tries to change it up. I also find the mysteries and murders in this series to be very satisfying.
Molly Fitz’s Himalayan Hazard is a fun ‘who dun it’ with some quirky characters working with Angie, her parents, Octo-cat along with the victims cat and various people from the train to solve the murder of another passenger. This is a quick read story that keeps you interested until the end that has a couple surprises, lots of twists and even has the beginning of an unusual romance.
I’m giving this two stars because it’s been a while since I’ve read the series, and I wasn’t really into the headspace of the main character or even the plot, but I do love the romantic theme, and I also love story set on a train, the mystery was nice, the story was overall very cute and a fast read
Angie, her Mom and Dad, and Octo-Cat take a train to Georgia to meet their new-found relatives, but a murder on the train makes them decide to postpone the meeting. Octo-Cat falls in love with a beautiful Himalayan cat belonging to the victim.
This book has Angie and Octo-cat traveling to meet their newly discovered family. As if that isn't complicated enough, they get roped into helping solve a murder along the way. This series manages to continue being fresh and new.
I really love how the author nailed the cat’s personality in her writings. I have been reading this serious nonstop for the past few days. I can’t wait for the the next book.
Not very well written, rather absurd story, and not in the least bit interesting. The first few in the series were good but they are getting progressively worse.
