Alexander Duke is everything I should be afraid of. Dark. Dangerous. Destructive. Among the sinister students of Saint Frederic University, he’s the most notorious. I’m sucked into Alexander’s twisted world of wickedness and obsession after a risque run-in on my first night. Beneath his disarming exterior lies a monster hungry for one thing—me. I want him to leave me alone. He won’t stop until he’s owned me completely. I have secrets of my own to protect. Secrets that could get me killed. How can I protect my secrets if I can’t even protect my heart?
Allie Clarke is the one girl I can’t get out of my head. She’s everything I hate—naive, graceless, innocent. Yet, she’s also everything I can't resist. A chance encounter sends me spiraling into an abyss of maddening lust, a dark obsession that can only end one way—devastation. It’s my senior year, and the chance to become part of the world’s most powerful secret society is finally within my grasp. I’ve worked for this my entire life. Yet, one fragile freshman threatens to set my whole world on fire. The worst part? I want to dance with her in the flames.
Raven is a dark romance author who writes about unhinged, possessive love interests and the BIPOC leads they are obsessed with. She favors the dark, demented and the deviant. Say her name three times on a full moon, and she might materialize in your room holding a copy of a half-written manuscript.

STORY: What I Like: I found the beginning of this serie very enjoyable. Reading the story of Alexander and Alize added some excitement and what really involved me was the construction of their relationship . I thought the author did a good job exciting the reader by building that intense chemistry between the two characters. I also like the way the author presented Alize, shy, unsure of herself and jumpy. This is a girl that comes from a dangerous and wealthy family, so her personality is not that of a rich brat but a very sheltered girl. Her naivety really added to this story as it’s what gave Alize and Alexander that push pull chemistry throughout the book. Alexander was a bully, but I personally don’t feel his bullying had a long life span. He was definitely intimidating, controlling and possessive over Alize as his attraction to her grows.
I like the backstory of both characters’ family being a crime family. That gave Alexander a bit more edge and appeal to him. The Book stays true with giving a University vibe, but being an unusual University.
What Is So So: I don’t feel I really had any issues with anything in this story other than the usual cliffhanger. Although I will say, the climax at the end which turns everything around, Alize was so easily swayed.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY: Their build up with the sexual chemistry was good. For me, that’s what keeps you wanting more. The sex scenes were good, but after the first encounter wanted more descriptive moments between Alize and Alexander. Their back and forth had some throat grabbing and a little forced intimacy. With Alize’s personality, she was giving submissive vibes and Alexander was giving dominating vibes and not just with sex but throughout the book.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: I found myself liking Vance and Ezra. I am curious if they will have their own story depending on book 2 and how it plays out. Vance and Ezra are Alexander’s good friends. Tara, love her. She is Alize’s roommate and becomes her good friend. Cassidy, thirsty thirsty thirsty thirsty. She surpasses a drought.
OVERALL: Was I entertained? Yes Did I like the story? Yes If a series, would I read/continue with the other books in the series,? Yes
TRIGGERS: Violence, cutting, force intimacy, bullying and racist comments
NOTES: No ow/om cheating and virgin heroine.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
5 BRIGHT stars! First read by this author... and it was amazing!! I was at the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. This story is dark but inspiring and everything that I needed in my life right now. I usually don't go for bully romances but I decided to give this author a try- and boy, I'm glad I did.
Allie and Alexander were absolutely made for each other. I love how Allie grows over the course of the book and I'm in love with Alexander's possessiveness. Their chemistry sizzled off the pages. They both had trust issues but they learn how to cope and exist with each other.
I'm beyond excited for the next book in the series. I definitely recommend!
Pay close attention to the triggers listed, especially if you're not used to reading darkish things.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
did we read the same book ?? cause i like dark romance as much as the next person but that was not dark, that was sexual assault. forcefully kissing her and sticking his hand up her dress but it’s okay because she ‘likes it’. forcing her to suck him off after backing her into a corner then calling her pathetic and leaving her cryjng in said corner and leaves ?? but everything was justified because of the ‘way her body reacted’ did this book not go through editing or proof reading or something did no one think “oh, this is SA and that’s wrong” just stunned that this book got published. also the way she gave them drastic personality changes at the end ??? no ty this was not for me cliffhanger ✅✅ ow ✅✅

-weak female lead -annoying and bitchy for no reason male lead -awful best friend who forces the female lead to wear thing she is not comfortable in and forces the female lead to go to parties and ingest things she is not comfortable with -subpar smut that did not make up for the awful characters
This is a story that is one of those absolute hidden gems. By pure luck I stumbled across the author and after receiving a chance to get a sneak peak I can say she successfully made a fan for life. The title and cover were enough to draw me in, but the story itself left me speechless. The story is gritty, spicy, dark, depraved, and will entice you in more ways than one.
Alexander is the absolute definition of anti hero and you do not want him any other way. He wanted Allie in a way he could not explain but it was going to happen and on his terms. He was possessive, jealous, protective, and hungry for everything that Allie was. Despite his alpha-hole ways he genuinely cared for her, and tried to lead her away from self destruction. She was an easy target before Alexander and even after in a sense she still was. Allie was beautiful and smart, but at the same time very broken. She lived in fear with no one to protect her and each day she would put on a façade while at the same time hiding the marks she created on her body. Allie in the beginning broke my heart because of all she endured, but as we watch her and Alexander together we then see there is more to this girl other than the pain. The attraction and their intense need for each other was pure fire, but the more they become entangled together is where the true development begins. Navigating whatever their relationship is, the secret society, and outside forces will test everything. Book 2 cannot get here fast enough, but when it does I am ready.
Alize is ready to start college in the fall at Harvard and study law. She’s been homeschooled her whole life with no access to the outside world. Her life changes when her fathers criminal ties almost kills her and kills the only mother she’s ever known. To keep her safe her godfather sends her to an elite college for kids of the world’s deadliest criminals. Once Alize gets to the school she learns that now she must assume a new identity and that maybe she was safer being chased by killers than her new school.
Alexander is the King (literally) of campus and decides to make Alize his new play thing for the year before he graduates and assumes his new role as future head of his fathers criminal empire.
This story is a 3 book series and a dark romance. The author puts several advisories in the beginning of the book so if dark romance is not your thing definitely don’t read this book.
This is a new author and I really enjoyed that she’s taking the time to build the characters of both Alize and Alexander you sympathize with both characters because the author humanizes both of them. Alize may frustrate readers because she’s so naive and sheltered but it’s clear in the beginning that she’s never had friends or links to the outside world. My favorite part of this book is that the author doesn’t white wash Alize Blackness or the racism she experiences. Some authors would have white washed her character but this author embraced the fact that her character is a Black woman even down to mentioning her use of a bonnet to sleep in at night. I even thought it was sweet Alexander wants to know what it is so he can get her one.
This book has villains, suspense and some mystery. The school is full of sociopaths that can kill her at any moment. Everyone is the enemy and there no one she can trust. I look forward to reading the next two books in this series. Something tells me that Alize may not be what she appears.
So this is a new author to me and I'm going to be honest and admit when I signed up to read this book I didn't know it was about a secret society. I have tried to read books with this trope and I never seem to be able to get into them. This one I actually did get really into. I liked Alexander and really wanted Alize/Allie to grow a stronger spine. She seemed to be easy for people to run over and hurt. She didn't even struggle hard when she was being assaulted at different times during the book. I was a bit annoyed by her. That being said I really loved how protective and possessive Alexander was. The whole Kingmaker society thing was a bit abstract. I want to know more about them. How they work. They seem to all be part of the criminal underworld. All of these students at this University are from different criminal families. Some of them enemies and rivals. There is a peace treaty that protects them from killing students from rival families. The only way you won't be protected is if you lie about your family ties. This concept was interesting and kept me hooked from the first page. The story ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to get my hands on the next part of Allie and Alexander's story. I hope she gets a nice spanking for being a brat too! Raven Rage ...........write that girl a nice hard spanking or some kind of punishment! (;
Raven Rage has written a wonderful first book to this series. I devoured the prequel Ruthless Temptation and was hoping to get more out of the Professor Holmes and Tara, but this book was about totally different main characters, which I was a bit mad about, but I quickly liked the story of Allie and Alexander? I still want a story on Professor Holmes and Tara’s love continuation please. There are a bunch of loose ends I did not see coming in this one on those two!
Anyways, Allie is a rich girl who is being targeted by father’s enemies and sent to Saint Fredric as a refuge for the prestigious kids in dark societies. In Saint Fredric they cannot be killed or targeted by such outside/inside individuals.
Allie Clark is a very shy girl who is noticed by Alexander Duke, the Kingmaker extraordinaire in Saint Fredric. You know what will ensue because the author takes the time to give us all the trigger warnings in the first few pages of the book. If you re unsure or easily triggered do not pick this book up. It is dark romance. But if you like triggers, by all means, read it.
Alexander is the King (literally) of campus and decides to make Alize his new play thing for the year before he graduates and assumes his new role as future head of his fathers criminal empire.
The book does end on a WTF Cliffhanger and book 2 releases this month, Sept. 26, 2022!
Alize is running from her father's enemies. His best friend Laurent sends her to a private university in Europe to keep her hidden after an explosion that kills her nanny.
She meets Alexander, the leader of the kingmakers. They're drawn to each other instantly. But Alexander backs off when she tells him she's a virgin.
However Alexander becomes obsessed with Alize and takes her under his wing, promising to protect her. Eventually they begin relationship which is jeopardized by the OW, Cassidy who tells Alize that Alexander is just using her. Hurt, Alize leaves and turns up a target at the university. This ends on a cliffhanger.
This story had a lot of potential but Alexander was too much of a cinnamon roll for my taste. He just didn't have enough to be an anti-hero what with his constant rescuing of Alize and tending to her. Alize was too naive and very annoying as she constantly breaks down crying about everything.
I'll read the next book because I'm invested but I really hope Alize grows a backbone and Alexander becomes more villainous.

Alice Moreux/Allie Clarke is in way over her head when she is thrown into the world of Saint Frederic University. I absolutly love her attitude but it doesn't take long for us to see her insecurity. My heart brakes for her.
Alexander Duke sets his sights on our female lead and all hell brakes lose. He is the king of the University and has finally found his Queen. He is willing to sacrifice everything for her, or is he?
This book has me twisted up wanting to uncover its secrets. The author did an amazing job of misdirection and I still don't know who to trust.
If you want bullying, spice, secret society, dark romance, and mystery then this is the book for you.
Raven Rage has rocketed onto my list of favourite authors with this novel and I can't wait to read more.
I received an ARC and as such I would prefer not to leave a poor review. I mostly write reviews for myself anyway, so that I can remind myself what I read. Once this book has more reviews and mine will just be one of many, I’ll go into more detail about what didn’t work for me.
For now I’ll just say this book wasn’t for me 🫤. I wanted to love it because I love dark romance…. But it wasn’t meant to be.
“’ If I cannot bend the will of heaven, then I shall move hell.’” -Ruthless Chaos
Stepping into the world of Saint Frederic University, there is one thing that I must remember… my name is no longer Alize Moreau, it’s Allie Clarke. From day one at this school, it has been hell; from racist comments to things unimaginable. And to top it all off, Alexander Duke is my main hell, even if he is my entire world. The only thing we have in common is that we come from similar families, his being more destructive and notorious than mine. He has sworn to protect me, but can I trust him? I am keeping a secret, and if it gets out, I will be killed, will he harbor my secret and still keep me safe? Or will he kill me himself?
This is Raven Rage’s debut novel, with that being said, my first thought after finishing Ruthless Chaos was, “OMG, I cannot wait for the second book!” This book is filled with dark, dangerous, and tragic topics, as well as, page-turning, addictive, and intense writing. Raven Rage ends this book with a cliffhanger, leaving you wanting more. I had a love-hate relationship with the male main character. One minute I was hating him and his overconfident attitude, and the next minute I was swooning over his gentle and caring side. I loved the main female character. I feel like she is any and every teenage girl trying to figure life out left doing what her parent tells her to do, dealing with stress and problems the only way she knows how… by cutting. Although her life is not a typical girl’s life, her feelings and emotions were relatable.
The book held my interest all the way through, even though the beginning was a little slow. But, by the middle of the book, I could not read it fast enough. With that being said, I rate this book 4 stars. Because of the sexy and spicy sex scenes, I must recommend this book to those who are 18+, otherwise, I would consider it a young adult recommendation. Furthermore, I would also recommend this to those who are not sensitive to triggers and to those who love dark romances.
Content/Trigger Warnings from the author: self-harm, sexual assault, suicidal ideation, graphic depictions of violence, dubious content, mentions of rape and torture, bullying, and public humiliation. Others that I would like to add are profanity, date-rape drug, gun violence, racism, and sexually explicit scenes.
This is a well written story of the life many do not know. We have the dark side of life. We have self-mulitaion, which is hard to watch in real life. You are living in the life of the underground, that thinks nothing of hurting their own. Alize knows nothing of her families life, except that her father is mean. now she has to go live at this school where the worse of the worse young adults live to stay alive, but do they? Alexander is the worst of the worst and he wants Allie. What will he do to have her? What will the girls that she lives with do to her? What will other guys do to her? Follow her journey on trying to learn the life she has never know. There is a big cliffhanger.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love a good enemies to lovers set in a college setting.
This one did not disappoint. It was my first read by this author.
Alexander is an anti hero and Allie is so sheltered she's not sure how to function in the real world.
The college they attend isn't exactly the real world and has its own rules.
This one is full of secrets and secret societies. There are some mysteries that need to be solved and I can't wait to see how the author addresses them in the next book.
If you are looking for a darker enemies to lovers read, don't miss this one.
rr: the crying didn’t bother me this time I’m around lol I was being dramatic because I hate criers😭 either way rating stays the same and previous review still kinda applies. Love alize though 🫶🏽🫂 ————————— It was good and then it got wayyyy too fucking long and weird ughh 1.5 stars! Also alize is so irritating 😭 like please stop crying bloody hell 😵💫
This book comes with a content warning, please head the authors note
Alexander and Alize’s story will take you on a wild ride, there thoughts, feelings and emotions will take you on a roller coaster that you wouldn’t want to get off until you’ve read their story.
Alize has never had any interaction with the outside world, having been homeschooled her whole life, there are things in life she doesn’t understand, what is the socially acceptable norm. Her father is all she has, but even with him her upbringing unconventional. Until his purported actions cause her to loose someone close to her, for her life is never her own, she will always be seen as a weakness, her hopes and dreams shattered, where she is then forced to attend Saint Frederic University.
University life is not what she expected. This world and everything around her is new to her and she has to accept this change for her safety, for she has come under a pseudonym, to protect her identity, for how long she can keep it a secret who knows.
Alexander has his sights set on his ultimate goal. He has sacrificed a lot to get where he is now, with hurdles in his way, he has preserved, his path forged, yet the only thing he didn’t see coming was her, and when he tasted her for the first time, he became enthralled by her, she consumes his waking thoughts, and he knew from then on, she was his.
Alize is subjected to rituals as part of her initiation into Hemlock House. They are to determine her character and self-worth, a testament to her commitment to them and what she can tolerate and endure. It is brutal, but somehow she proves she’s got what it takes.
For the first time, Alexander declares Alize his courtesan, something he has never done before. She is his in every way. But there are those like Cassidy and Liam, who are determined to not see them together. For they do everything in their power, using underhanded tactics to keep them apart, but each and every time Alexander comes out victorious.
Alexander his dominant as he is possessive and controlling. Alize is submissive as she is naive and blind to the dangers around her, putting herself in precarious situations that force Alexander to step in save her.
Alize has never experienced love with a man, if one can even call Alexander that, and he for one doesn’t do relationships. But he is determined to have Alize for himself, and he does, in one night of pure unbridled passion does he claim her innocence. This giving Alize the confidence and power to explore her sexuality with Alexander, allowing him to take her mind and body and explore the depths of her inexperience to heighten the pleasure and pain he gives her.
But Alize comes with secrets, secrets she is determined to keep, but Alexander is slowly unraveling the facets that make up who she is, she is beginning to trust him as she shares the painful parts of her life, and he reciprocates same, only to realise that she has also become hardened by this life, that there pain is one and the same.
Cassidy’s machinations, drive a wedge between Alize and Alexander, getting inside Alize’s head, her thoughts inerrant, she feels betrayed, and has come to accept that Alexander and her will be nothing more, that she gave up the best parts of herself, that the only person she can rely on is herself.
But it all comes to a head when she distances herself from Alexander, but most of all, the one secret that she shared with one person has become public knowledge and now she has become fair game for all, and in the end will she make it out alive.
This book has it all dark romance, possessive dominant alpha anti-hero, a naive heroine who has a lot to learn about life, madness, mayhem, revenge, vengeance, violence, deception, adrenaline seeking suspense, jealousy, twists, turns, truths and betrayal.
This story is told from multiple POV, it will take you on a wild ride, having you turn page after page, this book had me from the beginning to the end. Reading this story, it enables the readers to really connect with the characters, and as the story unfold’s the readers see the development and growth from the characters singularly and together. The author definitely knows how to write and I’ll be coming back for more.
And those s*x scenes, including those praise kinks were steamy, yet sensual, dirty, hot, intense, physical, provocative, it had all the angry angst, hate, jealousy, pleasure and passion one would except when Alexander gives Alize the pain and pleasure she deserve, his possessive and obsessive need for control and dominance, it was off the charts and had all of the feels.
This book had an incredible plot line. Sheltered daughter of a crime lord targeted by enemies and is sent to a college designed for the children of criminals for protection under an alias but having an alias means she’s exempt from the peace treaty at said university. If she’s found out, her death allots a huge amount of money or immediate enrollment in one of the secret societies on campus. Both main characters follow common archetypes in this kind of book, but I didn’t feel like I was reading about generic characters. I enjoyed both of their perspectives with each other and with the side characters. It made them more well rounded.
I loved how vulnerable both characters got with each other. It was kinda normal for the FMC given her naive, innocent, trusting nature to wear her heart on her sleeve, but the way she opened up about her traumas to the MMC felt natural. The MMC also was much more open than I would’ve expected considering his behavior towards the FMC in the beginning. I loved the scenes where they were being real with each other.
The spicy scenes were good. There were I think four in the whole book, but the ratio with the plot felt really good. The author has a thorough list of triggers in the note in the beginning. Please read. I love when authors do this. It should be standard to have a trigger warning in any book, but especially dark romance.
And this is a dark romance. The characters are both toxic and manipulative. The author explains in her note how he likes to destroy, and she enjoys the pain. It’s unconventional and a bit messed up, but such is the way of dark romance. I was frustrated with the characters just as much as I was rooting for them.
This may be a spoiler so fyi but I hated the miscommunication trope at the end with their fight. If the FMC had explained what had happened, and the MMC had been honest about his feelings, they would have resolved things that night. I get their individual traumas are holding them back from doing just that, but ugh I am just not a fan of miscommunication tropes.
I loved the cliffhanger at the end. I will be continuing the series.
This book has everything you want in a book: good pacing✔️ character development ✔️ good side characters✔️ well written/thought out✔️ dual pov✔️ I will say, I don’t usually go for a true bully romance but this one was good. You root for the heroine to find her voice and battle her demons. I just really like this book. Plain and simple. That being said, PLEASE check the trigger warnings before reading.
Bullet points: • bully romance • mafia-type secluded college • mental health issues • angsty drama • conniving antagonists • daddy issues • naive, innocent FMC • ruthless villain MMC
Allie/ Alize - sheltered all her life by her father who does a job that is definitely not legal, probably gun runner etc. After several attacks on her life she goes to a place that is suppose to be a safe haven but she is in danger from multiple sources on campus.
Alexander - the bad boy bully who is head Kingmaker (school frat) finds himself doing everything he can to protect Alize because he is the only one allowed to cause her pain.
While there relationship starts on rocky ground you do end up cheering for them I don't care if it looks like he sold her out. I would bet Tara before I believe it was him.
Cassidy - the crazy woman who has to have Alexander at all cost no matter how many times he turns her down We see she's part psycho in every scene she's in this book. She's the crazy you don't want to mess with
Tara- Alize roommate and who seems like a descent friend but she does seem to be jealous sometimes and is good. At hiding things as we seen from her hidden relationship with teacher Mr. Holmes.
This books sucks you in at the first page and keeps you intrigued. Following the life of Alize as she figures out how to navigate this new school where if her real identity is revealed she be hunted and killed. And of course what happens on the last page. The truth is discovered and she's hiding in her bathroom.
My number one suspects for revealing the truth Tara who was told her real name by Alexander at the retreat Cassidy and Keller: Keller could have gotten it from the book Alexander wrote it in and shared with Cassidy since we know there working together.
Alize has lived her life indoors, hidden from the outside world and moved around the world every couple of years for her safety. She knows that it’s because of her father’s work that she is a prisoner within her own home, but she desperately wants to get out of his house and move to Harvard for college.
Instead, Alize finds herself at Saint Frederic’s University, another prison and the safest place that she could be after two attempts were made on her life. Now she’s in a University where everyone around her is just as unsafe as the people who tried to kill her.
I received an unedited ARC of Ruthless Chaos and discovered that it is in fact now edited and fixed. I boosted my review and I do give it a 4-4.5/5 stars. The sexual tension between the two main characters is amazing and really made the story sexy.
This is a story that you can lose yourself in and ride along with Alize as she moves through her new life at Saint Frederic’s, even as she is realizing that the people around her aren’t as innocent as she first thought that they would be.
I’m happy I was able to amend my review and give this book the stars it deserves because I really did enjoy the storyline and loved reading about Alize and Alexander. Im looking forward to reading the next book and seeing how things go for Alize.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A thrilling introduction to a new author and a new series. It's a bully-type romance but Alexander is more protective of Alize than a bully and I liked that he tries to protect her from the many threats she faces at the university. Alize is very naive and winds up in trouble on more than occasion. The story is quite dark with heavy themes but it's not too dark and I hope the series continues in this vein, after all I don't want anything seriously bad to happen to Alexander or Alize. I quite like their little group of friends as well.
The sexual tension between the two main characters is explosive and I enjoyed the fact that the author built up the tension even more by making their relationship a slow burn one of sorts. The villains in the story are truly nasty and twisted and I can only imagine what wicked schemes are still to be divulged as the series progresses. This first book ends in a cliffhanger but it was obvious to me who was responsible and when and how they did it. I am really looking forward to the next book to find out how Alize and Alexander tackle this latest problem. I voluntarily revieweda copy provided by the author.
I usually don't read stories about bullies but I have to admit that I enjoyed the story very much. Allie was sheltered and moved around every few years. She wanted to go to college at Harvard but gets sent to Saint Frederic University. Her first day she ends up meeting Alexander Duke and found out that he's dangerous, dark, and destructive. Allie struggled with Alex and she starts to grow from a wimp to growing a backbone. Alexander, Head Kingmaster, was possessive, a bully and someone who wants to destroy her. They are perfect for each other. The story has quite a few triggers, dark themes, bullying, self-harm, suicidal ideas, humiliation, lacks consent, mentions of rape, torture, graphic depictions, violence, and sexual assault. She find that the university breeds psychopaths. A rollercoaster ride that I couldn't put down. Ends on a cliffhanger but I can't wait to read it.

This was my first book by this author and holy shit did I like it!! It's the first in a trilogy and I don't know how patient I will be for the next two to come out!!!! Alexander and Alize are on fire!! This is definitely a dark romance which is full of angst!! If that is your jam, then start this now! This is also set in college, and also has secret society vibes!! There are things that might need a trigger warning for. There are only a few genuinely good people in this book. So I hope you root for the villain!!! Anyways, you are warned that this will end on a cliffy!! And I can already picture what some of these characters will do!! It will be so delicious and dark!!!
