I was Team Oak until she started acting like an immature silly teenager. How are you holding on to a girl code for someone you’re no longer friends with?!!! Oak really pissed me off. Her anger was extremely misguided and misdirected. There was no legitimate reason for her to have broken things off with Isaiah. She almost ruined what was clearly destined for them because of her insecurities. And, the fact that she made that man wait a whole damn month before she finally found her common sense, made me dislike her even more. Now, I loved, loved, loved me some Isaiah Rothshire. He was BDE personified and, up until she got on my bad side, I was #TeamOakAndIsaiah right out the gate. Isaiah knew exactly what and who he wanted and he immediately started them on a path to forever. He wasted no time letting Oak know she was his person. I’m just happy she finally came to her senses and they got the ending they both deserved. My Person was the perfect instalove story that will have your heart leaping for joy and give you all the feels.
Whew GH! That damn Isaiah is intense as hell, with all that BDE! The way he approached Oak and told her what it was, had me shivering ok? I could feel all of that energy! 😂 I loved how Oak willingly submitted to him, and their chemistry was crazy! However, I had a sneaky suspicion that Brittany was going to be all up in the mix of things! Uhh huh, I knew it! I know that this situation was not ideal, but Oak girl, you was doing too much! You can't just give away a man of Isaiah's caliber girl! My heart dropped more and more, as each page ended where these two were still at odds! So glad that they got the ending they both deserved! Enjoyed this! 👍👍👍
I voted for this book for book club because I was intrigued by a no blurb book. I won't be making that mistake again. I'm not in the majority. People like what they like and I hated what the majority liked. The writing was very flowery and extra and I mean extra words thrown in that didn't need to be. For example, instead of saying, "Isaiah walked into the house, past his bedroom and straight to the bathroom to pee" it was "Isaiah walked into the house, past the bedroom, down the extra long hallway, to the bathroom to release the 8 gallons of water he drank while working out at the gym".
The FMC was just dumb and spent most of the book sleeping after "amazing" sex. The whole book. I should have stopped reading when he told her he didn't do small talk at their impromptu first dinner date. The entire book takes place over the span of a week and there's some drama involved with her best friend previously sleeping with her man. I could go on and on but yeah, don't read this. Ever.

Isaiah goodness, definitely Book Bae!!! I love a man that knows exactly what he wants, isn't confined to time or society's norms, and willing to put in the work to get what he wants. Isaiah was living a good life, he was paid, a boss, new house was bomb, family was good, and him and his favorite companion Champion were good. He didn't realize he was lacking anything until Champion ran into Oak, the love of his life. After meeting her in the park he felt like he needed to be with her. He was so in tune with himself that he didn't question it, he knew he was meant to be with her. The BDE that followed was everything! I appreciated the way he let his intentions be known and he made sure Oak knew she was it for him.
Oak was beautiful. You could tell she had a special aura. She was finally betting on herself by starting her photography business. The way this connected her to Isaiah was just yesss. You could tell that she was extremely hesitant with the aggressive way Isaiah was pursuing her. I was proud of her when she threw caution to the wind and took him for a ride. They were in their own little bubble and it was just beautiful. Clearly Oak wasn't as in tune with herself as Isaiah was with himself, because as soon as they had a little conflict she retreated. She was really pissing me off because this is YOUR man, like it was very clear he was entertaining no one that wasn't you. She already knew who her fake friend was....so why???? Folks are grown out here, you can't really believe they won't have a past. Then the childish reaction of not wanting to communicate was shameful really. That man was too fine, loyal, and clear on his intentions to be playing with. I was glad when Oak finally came to her senses. I would definitely read a book 2.
Ordinarily, I’m not a fan of Instant Love Tropes, but the premise of this story was a really cute on….I think the niece Izzy Stole the show with her small part in the story with that cute smart mouth.
If you looked up BDE in the dictionary, Isaiah’s name would be attached to the definition. I mean!!!!!!!!!! Full court pressure!!!!!! Oak didn’t stand a chance if you asked me. I need to know if Amazon has an Isaiah model for sale because I’m buying! This was my first read from Grey and I see why so many love her! She did not come to play with this short yet powerful story! I was rooting for poor Isaiah and I’m glad Oak came to her senses and put them both out of their misery!
This was a sweet insta-love story with just enough angst to feel in your chest and a HEA to satisfy the pain. I really enjoyed Oak and Isaiah. Isaiah had that BDE in spades!!!!
When Grey is good, she's great and leaves you wanting more. This one hit different 😏😏😏
Idk if I liked this story or not. First of all, how old is Oak? Cause her behavior towards the end was immature AF. Cause the way she overreacted was absolutely ridiculous. I'm still trying to figure out why she behaved that way. Was it pride? Was it shame? Guilt maybe? Brittany ain't your friend girl. What loyalty do you owe her?
But Isaiah came in, oozing all the BDE, pursued Oak something serious. Ain't never read anything like it before. I'm just now getting into Grey. I kinda like it here. 3.8⭐️
Isaiah. Isaiah. He was so smooth from the very beginning. He played no games in letting Oak know how he felt. I loved their story. I was nervous for a minute but they were meant to be.
I stumbled upon this author a couple of years ago and I’m still in awe. While her stories My be short the love & passion always leaves you completely satisfied. Could you imagine a world where the person that’s made just for you, finds you and decides that nothing else matters but your happiness? Chhhiiillleee I’m in Heaven. Absolutely beautiful story and while I always want more My heart is leaping for joy. She’s done it again
Isaiah knew immediately that Oak was for him, and deep down, Oak knew that he was her person, too! From their first cute encounter, romantic dates, the drama, and HEA, this story was all I needed! I want to look and see if Isaiah’s brother ever got a story because his little bit was intriguing!
This is my first read by this author and wowwww what was holding me back from this author's works? This book was everything and more in just a few pages, that's a skill that is not shared by all authors. Isaiah was BDE personified and I was Team IsaiahOak immediately. I didn't think the girl code applied but it almost destroyed what was destined, what was purposed. This book was so emotional, so good. Of course I want more but I am satisfied with this read. Now I need to dive into this NTMA catalog ASAP.
Find me an Isaiah and do it QUICKLY!! That man is on my list of forever husbands. Look, if Oak wants to act like she doesn’t have any sense, she can send him my way because I love him, without a doubt. I loved Oak’s energy at first, but all that foolishness she pulled after the birthday dinner got on my nerves, mainly because she did not have to carry on like that for weeks! A clear conversation a few days later was all she needed. Happy she got it together though. Can’t wait to read more work by grey huffington.
Talk about love at first site. Isaiah knew that Oak was his forever love from the first time that he laid eyes on her. This short, well written novella kept me interested from beginning to end. The scenes were so vivid. Grey Huffington is definitely a great story teller and I have never been disappointed with her books. A great read for anyone who loves romance.
Where the rest of this book because I know darn well you ain’t end like this 🤣😡🤣…Isaiah was definitely BDE and Oak almost played herself for a pass around, what ever happens before they got together should have been irrelevant and she should have talked to her man.
Let me preface this review by saying I loathe romance books. However this book was so cute and not cheesy romance. I need me an Isaiah in my life. Towards the ending Oak did royally get on my nerves with her blowing a certain situation out of control *major eye roll*
Don’t Let Anyone Stand Between You and Your Person…
not even your friend!!!! Y’all I really loved the instant attraction and immediate love between Isaiah and Oak!! Umm Assisi much commotion for the name Oak!! Great story!!!
I usually enjoy a good instant infatuation story. And I'll admit that the story was engrossing enough to keep me reading until the end. But this was kind of a love/hate read for me. The plot overall was engaging; the execution...not so much. Some of the phrasing, the overuse of the N-word (which is relative, I know), the sometimes over-describing, strange descriptions ("coconut-shaped" eyes? "Hairy" forehead?), and a few other things had me shaking my head. I love a man that knows what he wants and goes for it, but Isaiah was moving awfully quick. And Oak was often portrayed as timid or whiny or skittish, yet she went as far as she did on their first date (which could hint at her being naive or easily-swayed).
The whole scene at the birthday party with Brittany was irritating to read. Oak jumped to conclusions, wouldn't listen, then didn't even have a final showdown with Brittany, which I would have liked to see. And I rather liked that Isaiah made effort but left it at that; he gave her what she claimed to want. Also, what Isaiah did for a living was a little vague and I guess supposed to just be left to our imaginations.
Overall, some parts were just a little farfetched for me but I didn't hate it.
I loved this story !Grey does such an amazing job of Imagery. I always feel like I'm right there with the characters. I can imagine exactly what scene or surroundings they are in. I find that I read a lot of her stories because she's so descriptive. I can imagine every last detail. For instance, when champion jumps on her in the park. I can imagine oak snapping pictures in a park. Dinner at Dolce .
Her imagery makes the characters emotions and actions so vivid

Oak + Isaiah had a beautiful love story. Sometimes you come across a person and just know they’re your person. From the moment Isaiah laid eyes on Oak, he did not play about her. If you look up pressure in the dictionary, I’m sure his picture would be right under the definition.
I didn’t realize how much I missed Grey Huffington’s work until I started reading this book this morning. The way she right about love and all the other feels that come with it is so beautiful. I hope we get some more stories this year because I’m deep in my feels after this one.
Oak and Isiah. I love a man who will go after what he wants, needs, and desires, and Isiah did just that. Oak had some moments where I wanted to shake her but she’s fine. I would love to read more about them in the future, if possible.
