Secrets are my life. Perception is everything, and I'm extraordinarily good at helping my clients hide their dirt—until him.
Bad press about your latest movie flop? I can twist it. Need to repair your image after an embarrassing walk of shame? I got you. Reputation refresh? That’s me too. But my latest client challenges me in ways I never anticipated.
Carson Steen. The heir apparent at the center of a media firestorm that’s taking down his family’s amusement park kingdom. I can help the drop-dead sexy, danger-loving, motorcycle-riding jerk… if he’ll let me.
I’m just trying to do my job. But his eyes follow me, his touch tempts me, and his honesty is so refreshingly hot I'm melting.
Falling for a client shatters all the rules, but the need feels undeniable. It's a huge risk to love Carson, but is it riskier not to?
**Risky Business is a full-length romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger!
Lauren Landish is a WALL STREET JOURNAL & USA TODAY bestselling author and her books have garnered a legion of praise from her readers.
When she’s not plotting about how she will introduce you to your next sexy as hell book boyfriend, you can find her deep, deep in her writing cave, furiously tapping away on her keyboard, writing scenes that would make even a hardened sailor blush.
Lauren, who lives in NC with her boyfriend and fur baby, warmly invites you to her worlds of rock hard abs, chiseled smiles, and men with deep, fat pockets…but beware! These stories are guaranteed to have you addicted and needing your next fix!
Carson Steen, is the CMO of Steen Amusements Park, in the short time that he has been with the company, he has quickly become an effective Chief Marketing Officer
But with one misunderstanding he might have set the company backwards for a few years. Carson, his entire image is under fire as the representative of not only Americana Land, but of the Steen family Carson takes it as a personal insult as his father hires an outside company to clean up his mess. Or more like his PR Nightmare….
Jayme Rice, has been a PR representative with Compass Public Relations for six years. She started there straight out of college after completing her internship and was officially offered spot with them one week after they turned in her grades on the internship course.
She started with smaller cases, but found herself niching her way up in the company. She now handled high-profile clients, and she is one of the top people that her company tend to send in for crisis management
Carson Steen. A client. A risk-taker who encouraged her to live dangerously
This is an important assignment for Jayme, and a make-or-break moment for Carson. They had a hard time trying to stay professional, and Jayme, will realize that Carson is dangerous – to her career, and to her body, to her heart…… And whatever he touches of hers
Will all her hard work at repairing Carson’s reputation have the desired effect, or will she be blinded by him to the point of distraction This was a fun read, with some very laugh out loud moments
One of my personal favorites was when Jamie and Carson were on the beach In California……… and also the Plant shots
Whew! Risky Business is pure romance gold! Jayme and Carson embark on a risky path to love and you won't want to miss it! There's so much passion and an instant connection between these two!
Jayme is an amazing woman! She's a badass who takes charge and can read just about any situation and diffuse it. I love how she not only helps correct the image of Carson and Americana Land, but she also helps with Carson and his dad's relationship.
Carson is the perfect mix of a bad boy and good man! He's a great leader at work and takes care of his people. I love how he goes after what he wants and what he wants is Jayme. He admires her intelligence and her ability to go toe to toe with anyone.
Gosh these two are perfect together! Jayme doesn't let very many people all the way in due to a secret about her family. Carson isn't used to being open and vulnerable but does it anyway. I love how they come together and work through their misunderstanding. I absolutely loved this book but I always love books by Lauren Landish!
I've been going off track on my TBR list for quite a while now and so far, it has been a so-so experience. I don't know, I guess my choice of on-a-whim books just wasn't for me.
I didn't really like or hate this book. There's just something missing from it. Also, I couldn't relate to Jayme. I don't know much about PR consulting but aren't you supposed to NOT jeopardize the image of your client? Eg: not having sex on a bike with your client in the middle of the road and not caring if anyone saw either of you. I know, I get it. The sex drive is strong but, come on. You're the PR consultant?
I think, overall, I was expecting more of the push and pull (but not too much) between Carson and Jayme to really establish the "risky" in the Risky Business. But, yeah.
Jayme and Carson’s story was so adorable and I loved the humorous banter between them especially being neither wants to keep it professional but Jayme knows if she crosses that line she might ruin what’s she’s trying to fix
This is why I shouldn’t read books based on 1 scene I see on TIK TOK. DNF this after reading some. It wasn’t good. Couldn’t get with the characters, didn’t feel any tension or romance between the 2. Bad
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a DNF, because it was just too boogie or preppy or something that just wasn’t interesting me at all. It started out with promise and then just started to drag.
Business woman getting handsome nice guy out of trouble, but they really like each other. She has great ideas that can really help the park get over the slump caused by the PR bummer. If they jump into bed together it would be bad… oh no, they kissed on camera in one of the offices of the park’s property! That was it for me. Over and out.
I received this ebook ARC, from the author, on the condition that I write an honest review. I’m having trouble finding the right words to honor, and describe this beautifully written book. Lauren Landish has grabbed this reader’s attention, from the very first sentence. It was really hard to force myself to stop reading. I loved the entire story, the characters, and all the emotions involved in this book. The rest of this review is my attempt at honoring this book, and hopefully encourage more readers, to buy and read about Carson and Jayme. Carson is the son, of the owner, of Americana Land, an amusement park. The book opens with a crisis situation at the park, and this results in ruining Carson’s reputation. His father hires a PR person to help rebuild the reputation of the park. Carson and his father have a bad relationship, and Carson gets angry that a PR person has been hired. Jayme is the PR person hired by Carson’s father, and when Carson and Jayme meet, they get off on the wrong foot. They argue, but there is an underlying attraction between them. Eventually they seek each other out, and establish a friendship/work relationship. With the help of Jayme, and her ideas, the staff of the park, plan several attractions, to help the park improve its image. Meanwhile, the relationship between Carson and Jayme gets stronger. The big concert completely is a success, with a full house of an audience. The park then has its annual ball, to raise funds for the local children’s hospital. Carson’s problematic brother shows up, and Jayme handles the situation, but a misunderstanding occurs between her and Carson. Jayme’s high profile family shows up at the ball, and causes more misunderstandings. Jayme leaves and runs to California, to her friends house. With the help of his younger sister, Carson uses the internet to reach out to Jayme, and asks her friend to help him. The cause is a success, and Carson and Jayme reunite. The book ends in a beautiful, romantic, heartfelt HEA. As I said before, this book was a joy to read, and Ms Landish has given this reader a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this book.
Carson is the CMO and heir to an amusement park who happens to be strolling through the gift shop when a Karen who has been accused of shoplifting (who turns out isn’t a Karen but an influencer is having a grand stand you know who I am moment) and handles the situation questionably.
Enter Jayme a PR agent who’s idea of handling it isn’t apologizing but to launch a new marketing campaign aimed at social media followers. So we are gonna take this family friendly theme park with the founding fathers theme and turn it into “an electric Woodstock”
Okay so the set up and story is already a bit shaken but that’s fine as long as the relationship is front and center… but it isn’t. It’s Insta-lust and I don’t feel like any connection develops… in fact Jayme never even gets to the point where she can unveil her big secret …*spoilers* her parents are billionaires. They have steam sex on a beach (and anyone who has had sex on a beach knows it’s terrible), then weeks go by and the book sums it up they got to know each other better over late nighters and dinner (but apparently no sex) because there next time is on the side of a high way bent over a motorcycle…. Really Ms PR maven … you told him to keep a clean good boy image and you lead him on these voyeristic escapades. 🙄
It’s just not there and I’m so disconnected from both the story itself and the characters.
I like the trope that has a PR person fixing the tarnished reputation of someone. I liked the characters. I didn’t really get into the story, though.
The amusement park setting and opening event of the book were original. The reason Carson’s image took a hit was certainly on target. What I didn’t like were the solutions and the time devoted to that aspect of the story.
The only reason I didn't quit this is because I DNF'd my last two books and I don't wanna give up a third one. But MAN. This book was BORING. The story was too long, the couple fell in love too quickly, and it seemed like nothing really happened. I only managed to skim the second half of it.
Jazmyn Rice is an alpha pistol that has the world of Public Relations on a string. Any... and I do mean any situation that requires a preserving public persona and making public disasters for corporation disappear Jazmyn Rice is the Michael Jordan of the PR world. The newest client, Americana Land and the head of the park owner has called her in to work her magic and get them on the right track and Jazmyn knows she's got the goods to exceed all expectations. Only one problem Carson Steen, head of the Marketing Division is a walking enigma that she could never prepare herself for. Jazmyn's known as being a Boss Chick but will she be able to complete her mission or give up on her opportunity for the ride of a lifetime?
Carson Steen never thought he would be in this predicament. What has truly happened to society that when you do what is right you treated like enemy number 1 for the entire nation. It truly just goes to show how drastic social media has changed and how out of control it can become. Carson not only has issues but now he has a wild cat of a woman coming in to tell him how to do his job! Who does that??? None other than the owner of Americana Land! It's not like he doesn't know how to do his job but the lack of confidence in his capabilities hurts him the most. He may have to listen to this woman's pitch but it doesn't mean he has to do what she says right? Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus and it's Venus he can't take his eyes off of. What wouldn't he give to have that wild cat all to himself... after playing his cards close to the vest should he gamble all he has on her? Would she be worth it????
This was not only a beautiful story but it brought back great memories for me of spending days at the beach in South Jersey and it was a hoot to see a piece of Jersey in this story I absolutely loved it! The main characters brought the heat and the supporting characters were my favorites as well. This was truly a feel good romance with all the feels and the laughs. Great Job!
It all started when Carsen was trying to assist an employee at his place of business, with an entitled customer. Little did he know that she was a big time influencer with a huge following that decided to cancel Carson and his place of business. It just didn't seem fair to him. If she would have just explained who she was, there would have been no misunderstanding. Now he's being "punished" for doing the right thing. He just can't seem to win. Enter Jayme, the "fixer". She helps recover reputations of people and businesses. She's good at her job. and she knows it. When she first enters the scene, there is resentment from Carson. What does this woman know of his day to day pressures? She looks beautiful and untouchable. He's angry, yet attracted to her at the same time. Jayme starts of his reputation repair with a list of don'ts. What's' the point of life if you can't live it to it's fullest? Carson starts butting heads hit Jayme. He feels that he can do his own damage repair. What does he need an outsider for? Jayme knows she has a job ahead of her, just to convince him, that he needs help. When he finally agrees, the two of them find themselves getting a little deeper into each other, yet, each of them is holding back something. Working together is flowing and feelings are forming. Do they dare to cross the line and get truly involved with one another? If they take that step, will it last or will feelings get hurt and hearts get broken? This book is laugh out loud funny, down right sexy and genuine. For the first time a book takes a "Cake by the Ocean" scene and gives you the actual downside of it and reality. I really appreciated that part. I really enjoyed this book and hope the author continues writing more in this style. Thank you to Lauren Landish, for the advanced copy
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. An altercation at Americana Land, a well known amusement park, brings Jayme and Carson together. Jayme is a fixer by trade and she's there to fix a situation that took place at the park which involved a senior employee. A situation that is now trending on social media. Upon their meeting, sparks fly between Carson and Jayme but professionalism is needed to fix this debacle, even if that's the last thing on their minds. Carson's reputation took a hit and he needs help to rebuild it. Delving deeper, Jayme sees that the park could be instrumental in fixing Carson's problem by targeting a younger demographic to appeal to a broader audience, social media, so rebranding was on the table as well. Both begin to realize they work well together as a team. A few kisses later and they begin to realize they may be something more. FANTASTIC STORY!!! I love how Lauren's books don't follow the norm. You never know what you are going to get, but you do know that it's going to be total, original awesomeness!!! SPARKS FLY AND RULES ARE BROKEN! THE HEAT BETWEEN THESE TWO WAS UNDENIABLE AND FREAKING HOT!!! AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!
Great read with so much fun. This book starts with Carson Steen, CMO of Americana Land, thinking he is saving one of his employees from a shoplifter who is causing a scene. That act of heroism gets him a internet storm of haters.
In comes Jayme Rice, PR guru that can help him save not only his reputation but also his families business. They have their challenges along the way and there are some family drama in the background but their path to love is a fun and heated one and I just loved seeing the strong alpha Carson come down a notch or two with the super smart and confident Jayme telling him what to do.
The supporting characters in this book are great as well from the very outspoken best friend to the up and coming little sister as well as the security guard at Americana Land and doorman/bodyguard at Jayme's home. They all brought this story to life and it was so enjoyable to read.
I received an early copy to read and review with my honest opinion. I loved it and highly recommend it.
I’ve yet to meet a Lauren Landish book that I didn’t love, and lately she has been killing it in the unique storyline game! Risky Business is definitely that, set mostly at a fun Americana themed theme park that the two main characters are working to improve how the public sees them.
Jayme is the publicist and just an all round boss and Carson (whose family owns the park) is here for it! I love how Carson is a suit wearing business man during the day but a motorcycle riding sort of bad boy by night. They are 🔥 together and even though the author always brings the steam, this might just be one of her hottest books yet! I did want to shake these two a few times towards the end for their communication problems, but otherwise they bring out the best in each other.
This book is a mostly light read that includes a hilarious best friend, family drama, and everything else you could want in a romcom!
A totally addictive, entertaining love story. Carson Steen is the sexy executive in charge of marketing for his family’s theme park. He’s also a bit of a bad boy and likes to take things to the edge, pushing his limits in his personal life. When it comes to work though, he’s all business, he’s extremely protective of his staff, which is where things go horrendously wrong when he stands up for one of the cashiers in the park gift shop. Enter Jayme rice, a PR expert employed by Carson’s father to try and sort out the social media nightmare that the family and the theme park find themselves in. Herein starts the not-a-romance between Carson and Jayme. Great characters and a fun storyline all make for an entertaining romance with secrets, spice and all things nice. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Awww ... This is such an amazing story! I laughed ... and swooned ... and fell in love with this wonderful couple. There may have been a few tears, too, because I could feel for myself all the ups and downs that Ms. Landish captured so well and convincingly.
I absolutely love both characters, Carson and Jayme, who are so headstrong, fierce and badass on the outside, but big softies and vulnerable at heart.
This is another very emotional laugh-out-loud, feel-good romance story, with just the right amount of steam and drama (and some really great secondary characters that I'd love to read more of, especially Taya) to spice things up. And it's an almost unputdownable page-turner from this gifted author that I highly recommend!
This is a cute love story about Carson, who has a viral incident at his family’s amusement park and the PR person, Jayme who his father brings in to fix it gets Carson in a defensive position. Carson is a nice easygoing man who steps in to protect his employees and comes out the wrong end. Jayme comes in and fixes not only the PR situation but gives Carson and his family so much more along the way. These two have a connection and take their relationship past professional but the secret Jayme is hiding is a BIG one. These two will have you smiling and laughing through out their journey. I enjoyed the interactions between Jayme and her brothers, I hope to read more about them. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This had me hooked from the first page and I couldn't put it down. It felt like part rom-com, part enemies to lovers, and I was here for all of it. Jayme Rice is head of PR at her firm and hired out as a consultant and her latest client happens to be the CMO of an amusement park and family owned theme park called Americana Land. It's all fun and games until social media causes a PR nightmare! Now, Jamye has been hired to clean up Carson's reputation and queue the fireworks!
These two were dynamite together, once the ideas started flowing and they understood they were on the same team, the chemistry was undeniable. I loved the heat between Jayme and Carson, she was just what he never knew he was looking for. A fantastic story.
I just love Lauren Landish. I know that I can always count on her books to entertain me. They have just the right balance of everything that I look for in a book. From the moment I picked it up I was hooked. The story line was funny, sweet, heartwarming, hot and so much more. There was also just the right amount of drama! I loved Jayme and Carson. I thought they were perfect for each other even though I am sure they wouldn’t have agreed with me at times! If you are looking for a read that will keep you up and keep you highly entertained, then look no further cause this is the book for you. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Carson needed help after a run in . He is the CMO of American Land . Jayme come in to help him with his reputation. She is Jayme Rice PR and she knows her job. She tells him he can’t ride his motorcycle but later changes her mind . Jayme find out all she can about his family so she can fight Carson battle and show him in a good light. While they are working they get close, there is some misunderstanding and forgiveness. The back story is giving so you know the people and funny instances that happen
A Five-star read worth taking a risk on. This has everything, its sweet, saucy and filled with characters that make you want to care about them. There is just something so special about the whole story, from Carson and his familial relationships and all the chaos they bring, to his power at standing up for his people. Then when you add a dash of Jayme running through keeping everyone together and the whole landscape running smoothly. Lauren Landish always creates a good story, but this one deserves all the chef kisses.
From over the top fun to under the radar romance, Risky Business is a heartbreaker in training. As unpredictable as the emotions of the heart and as tempting as the most converted addiction, Jayme and Carson grab hold at the first hello and will have you dreading to get to their final goodbye. From spicy to sassy, Landish gives angst and heartache a delightful makeover that will leave hearts craving for more.
Carson was just trying to help an employee but it went viral and the theme park his family owns is losing business, so his dad calls in help in the form of Jayme Rice an image consultant. As Jayme works to repair Carson’s image they grow closer sharing secrets but Jayme never shared hers and now it’s too late. Lots of funny instances and sweet and sexy, and Jayme’s dedication to family and friends is amazing, great story.
Rules “smules” Jayme has always followed the rules and never gotten personally involved with any of her clients. When hired by Americana Land she meets Carson who needs her help to rebuild its reputation and expand to include a younger demographic. They soon realize that they make a great team and with the kisses that follow maybe something much more. In short this is another terrific Landish read! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I think this one could have had some potential but at 36% where’s this going. The two main characters have all but expressed their love for each other, there’s no tension to keep it interesting just straight on in there.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review, that being said, this book was so good! Jayme is a PR rep called in to fix a viral episode for Carson. The back and forth between them was pure Alpha badass, I loved how well they worked together. The characters in the store were so awesome and crazy compared to most stories I read. There were so many giggle moments and amazing lines that had me dying! There were also several having to look deep into them moments too. Overall this book fit right in with all the amazing books that Lauren has written in the past....
This was a great story with characters that you will enjoy. Carson & Jayme have a great connection from the start and I loved every minute they were together. Another great read that everyone must one click.
