Kate James knows exactly what she wants: a mature, wise, ambitious and successful life partner. The hot guy with the gorgeous laugh at the bar is none of these things. Not with that t-shirt, unkempt hair, and scruff of a beard. And although his handsomness is unquestionable, he is definitely not the man for her.
Isaac Anson is out for one last drink before getting married…to his job. Years after walking away from baseball, his team has called him home. As the new manager of the Mantas he’ll only have room in his life for two things: baseball and his daughter. The last thing he needs is a distraction like the beautiful woman two tables down with the sexiest voice he’s ever heard.
The Mantas have a problem. New owner Eli Stirling has thrown everything into chaos. With the front office, players, and even the parking lot attendants ready to revolt, he hires the best corporate doctor around, bringing Kate and a freshly shaven Isaac together. All Kate’s excuses not to pursue Isaac are gone except for one pesky problem: he’s now her co-worker. And with the object of Isaac’s desires never more than a few feet away, it’s going to be torture resisting what he really wants.
Alexis Anne writes page-turning romances that will leave you breathless and wanting for another happily ever after. Her new book KING OF WANDS is available now!
Fast. Volatile. Gorgeous. Those are the words they used to describe Kingston Reynolds on the first day of my internship. Well, it wasn’t so much of a description as it was a warning. Do not fraternize with the drivers if you want to keep your job.
“My very first Alexis Anne book and now I'm wondering what I've been waiting for. It was a real page turner!! Gripping, edgy and very exciting.” --Tish Cocktails and Fairytales
It’s lust at first sight for these two soon-to-be coworkers. And once they learn that they’ll be working together, the brakes slam on. That made for a very slow burn romance between Kate and Isaac, but once they get comfortable with where they’re going, plenty of spice gets added. On a side note, I was a little confused at first by the chapters from some of the secondary character’s viewpoints. However, it makes perfect sense now that I understand the family dynamic within the team, and I can’t wait to read more. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
I enjoyed the romance between Kate and Isaac and the oddest part of their meeting is that they had two different life plans for themselves, yet ended up in the same place. He was starting a new job in a new town and transitioning with his brother and daughter. So both he and his brother made a pact swearing off women for a year. Isaac is starting a job as head coach of the Mantas baseball team, and Everett will be one of their pitchers. The new team owner, Eli Sterling, ruffled feathers, he had come in and started shaking things up making staffing changes without asking for advice and not truly knowing baseball.
The only one he got right was getting the coach with his brother the pitcher. It's going to take a miracle for him not to get run out of town by the employees that he had left, the team he had left, and his friends and family who were still talking to him. He wasn’t just dealing with a team he owned he was dealing with a beloved institution, but a tradition. Dr. Kate James has dual degrees in behavior and psychology. So Max a former client but friend now recommended her because Eli needed an intervention before everyone in his organization walked.
See how these two fall in love with each other while pulling off a miracle that the fans can be proud of. Now was their time to shine. The only thing with this story was too many characters that didn't go anywhere. I know you were setting up for books to come but still...
This was a really sweet story. The characters were relatable and realistic. Though a baseball story, it is not full of sports terms, etc and focuses on the relationship.
Kate James wants a mature, wise, ambitious, successful life partner. Someone who wears a suit preferably. She has dated that type of male for years, but none of them are her One. She works as a corporate fixer and has just accepted a contract position with the Mantas.
Isaac Anson is the new Manager of the Mantas as professional baseball team. He walked away from a promising baseball career when his daughter was born and this is his second chance to be a part of the sport he loves. His younger brother Everett has also been signed to the team and several of his friends play on it as well.
Kate and Isaac meet in a bar just before both start work for the Mantas. They agree to keep their relationship professional as they get to know each other. They eventually start seeing each other and catch feelings. They come out to the team and owner. They integrate their families and friends and get their HEA.

A very enjoyable sports romance that goes deep into why Kate and Isaac have each had issues with finding the one. These two clicked instantly night they meet after Kate’s disastrous date/non date despite Kate’s preference for successful, suit wearing men. The flip flop wearing, shaggy bearded man shouldn’t even have caught her eye let alone give her goose bumps from across the room, yet they did Kate is hired to fix the issues the team owner created when he tried to force a new culture on his newly purchase baseball team. Isaac is the newly hired team manager so again they meet again with fireworks.
The storyline is emotionally deep, and tracks along with the start of the baseball season. The characters have several interconnections so the friends/coworker group is fairly large and unique. I was confused at the start ten years prior, it seemed Willa would be the main character yet she popped up at the end, I kept waiting for her character and had expectations of Willa and Everette getting together but I guess that’s another story so I’m not entirely sure why the focus was there. Enjoyed it but not loved it.
For those who relish stories where the development of affection is a gradual yet intense journey within the professional sphere, this book offers an immersive experience. It’s a perfect match for readers who appreciate dialogue that sparkles with clever wit, adding layers of humor and intelligence to the narrative. Equally important is the deep dive into the characters' emotional landscapes, revealing their vulnerabilities and strengths as they navigate the complexities of life and career. The story expertly intertwines the pursuit of individual aspirations—be it career goals, personal dreams, or the desire for self-improvement—with the magnetic pull of an unanticipated romantic connection. This blend creates a compelling tension, as characters must balance what they want for themselves with what they find themselves feeling for another. The workplace setting is not just a backdrop but a dynamic environment that influences and shapes the evolving relationship. Readers will find themselves invested not only in the romantic storyline but also in the professional challenges and successes of the characters, making for a rich and multifaceted reading experience.
This is book two in The Out of Left Field series and it is Kate and Isaac's story. Isaac is the new manager for The Mantas Baseball Team and he is also a single dad so his life is about to become very busy with no time for anything else. Kate is a corporate doctor so when The Mantas Baseball Team have a big problem that needs professional help they call in the best person possible and that is when Kate enters. Kate and Isaac have seen each other before while out drinking but now that they are working together they will not be able to give in to the attraction and chemistry that surrounds them every time that they are in the same room as it will only complicate matters even more. I really enjoyed reading this book and Kate and Isaac are so perfect together but will they give in to his they feel or keep it professional and miss out on something special. I definitely recommend you read this book and other's by Alexis Anne as her book's are so well written and worth reading.

I really enjoyed this book in the series and am interested in the next book.
The first time Kate saw Isaac was at a bar and he was unkept with a tee shirt long shaggy hair and unshaven and she knew he was not what she was looking for in a man but much to her surprise when she goes to her new job has the new doctor it is Isaac who is the manager of the Mantas Baseball Team. He is a single dad to his precious daughter and her and his team is all that matters until he sees Kate again and his heart begins a come alive again.

An opposites attract trope that is so much fun! Neither Kate or Isaac thought they'd have a HEA. They were OK with that. Isaac had his daughter and his family. His life is complete. His life is good. Kate has an amazing career that consumes her. Her life is full. Well, except for that special someone. She's about to give up on that. She has a type, but for some reason, it has never worked out for her. 99% of them are jerks. That guy across the bar whom she can't seem to stop staring at? The one whose gaze is drawn to her, too? Yeah, so not her type. Or is he?
Kate, a successful corporate doctor in her own right, knows what she wants in a partner. Issac, a new manager for the Mantas baseball team has time for two things, his career and yound daughter. Two people, with deep back stories, what they desire and do they cross that fine line? Sweet Spot is apply named and a great read! I love how the characters are connected from each book in the series. It's like reading about their successes all over again.
Kate is the new team fixer and Isaac is the new team manager. I loved the way they started out as friends and even though sparks are flying between them they took their time and built on their relationship. This is a sports romance with well developed and likable characters and a great ending. Sweet Spot is book two in the Out of Left Field series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
What I liked: Isaac What was so-so: Kate What the author did well: spice, slow burn to sizzling, humor, meet-cute What the other failed to do: write a satisfactory ending. This reads like a happy-for-now. Do they marry? Will they have kids? What about his life in Calusa Key?
This sports romance was entertaining and the friendship dynamics were great. Kate and Isaac don't make sense according to her but boy they're meant to be.

I really liked this, I found the prequel a bit confusing at first tho. But I like the family dynamics and that everyone has their own. Definitely be reading the next books.
This book was an easy read but hard to put down. Character's were well developed, interesting, with a good story line. I looked forward to reading each page.
