I wasn't exactly wowed by the first book but interested enough to try this.
I've read this Author's books in the past (MF), and remember really liking them.Maybe my tastes have changed but this was a big miss for me.
The voices of the two main characters weren't distinctive at all.Even though the reader is told who's pov it is I found myself confused about who it was and had to go back repeatedly to find out who's pov it was.
The Author has definitely created two highly likeable characters in Vance and Luke and here's the problem.I really liked them but the ridiculous amount of sex scenes completely spoilt this for me.
Putting this in a spoiler,you can probably guess but...
I think it's a shame to be honest,because like I said I really liked Vance and Luke.Their story had so much potential.Maybe it got better? The sex spoilt it for me.It just got boring.

Good god! It’s just so freaking good!
If I had thought Luke was a dirty preacher before I hadn’t seen anything yet. Like seriously, the most delicious Dom to ever exist.
Funny that he thought that butt plug business would send Vance on his way. Instead, as it should it only made him hungry for more. This fed so many kinky dreams, some I didn’t even know I had.
Then when you get past the sex, when you reach that gooey center of the biggest hearts. It’s breathtaking how much they love each other. Fucking brilliant.
And the church?! Love is love and if you can’t accept that then don’t let the heavenly gates hit you on the ass on your way out.
Not only was Luke the dirtiest Dom but he was also a damn fine preacher. Seriously, he had my heathen ass wanting to go to church.

I really didn't want to end up with a NOPE opinion of this one.
I wasn't expecting to. The first volume had its flaws, but by the end, I'd bought into the characters and the evolution of their relationship. And I was highly anticipating this release. (Which, for the record, came several days after it had been promised, making me grouchy but I'm not holding that against it.)
Adore brought the flaws of Worship and added a few new ones just for funsies. My biggest concerns with the first volume were 1) the lack of tension due to forcing in too many sex scenes that added nothing, and 2) the unrealistic nature of said sex. And it's good to see that, despite having aged a few years, Vance and Luke still aren't plagued by those pesky refractory periods. They each had approximately 493 on-page orgasms and were apparently just getting warmed up.
In book 1, despite the large amount of sex, characters did get developed. And pretty decently developed, at that. But in Adore, those characters got decimated. They reacted in the ways that were most convenient for the scene, in the ways that would add the most angst. By the middle of the book, I didn't even recognize one of them, and the last 20% served to finish off the other. This is something that I hold against a story in a big way. Don't give me real characters just to yank them away. I'd rather never have them to begin with -- at least then I'm not losing anything and I could easily DNF.
Admittedly, this might be my skewed perspective, but I feel like this book's problem was a lack of editing. From developmental ("oh! let's squeeze in another melodramatic plot device here, that'll go well!"), to line editing (lots of word and phrase repetition), to the *dozens* of proofreading errors.
To be fair (I owe you nothing, book, but I'm trying to be a grown-up about this), there were a few moments that I really liked. Every once in a while, a turn of phrase would strike me as profound and winsome, and I did highlight a fair number of them. And the author does have decent sex-writing capabilities, even if dialing them back would make them immensely hotter.
When am I going to learn about those high expectations?? They're a damn curse. But, like always, buddy reading makes the time lovelier no matter the book, and I loved reading this one with Ele and Jan!

Audio - All the stars!!!
Story - 3.75 Stars
I enjoyed this one more than book 2. What kink there was, wasn't overdone (TF!), and the clusters of sex scenes weren't long winded so that made them tolerable. Once again, I was wishing the author slowed down a bit and built up to the intimacy between the MCs after years of being apart. I couldn't understand why that was so rushed. Sheesh!
I totally fe1l more in love with these guys as a couple as the story progressed. The back-to-back hospital fiascos were a bit much, but that didn't stop me from swooning at the way the MCs reacted.

This is the second book on this trilogy and I really liked it !
Vance is such a cute guy with a good soul and the patience on this man ! Omg ! Poor baby.
Pastor Luke is HOT ! What the actual heck? He is kinda of a Dom. But his is so tormented by his desires and feelings, he has so many emotions and he is so conflicted by his faith and how the church will react and how people will see him as. It breaks my heart that people do go through this for real. Why can’t we all just love who we love without judgement and criticism? Love is love.
Luke and Vance just want to be happy, and it’s hard. I felt for both of them but Luke’s situation is harder. But I was more heartbroken about Vance cause he was the one getting the short end of the stick in their relationship.
Going to start the last book.

This book was a bit of a mess, as one of my fellow buddy readers explained so well here, but I enjoyed it anyway.
Why, do you ask?
Because apparently I read it with the same part of my brain that cares for my friends even when they do something stupid. I could see what was wrong with this story every step of the way, but I was just going for a ride with characters I liked and wanted to see happy.
Thank you to Moony and Jan for the awesome buddy read and for keeping me company during those three long days of waiting for a release that wasn’t coming.

Vance and Luke are one passionate couple !
These two have sex on the bed, on the floor, on the shower, on the kitchen counter, entrance door , at the garage, against doors, in cars , at the paint shed -inside the church compound, where Luke is the pastor and Vance is the sculptor and painter doing a mural - they do it everywhere with a stamina of super humans. They're definitely hot for each other.
So , the storyline goes like this: Luke and Vance have sex , some OW drama happens , it gets blown out of proportion.
So , they have more sex to forget about it then some church drama happens and they have more sex .
Drama and Sex . Sex and Drama makes the world go around and around, and Adore , book 2 of the On My Knees duet NAILS IT ...just like Vance and Luke nail each other 😉
Iggy Toma and Aiden Snow performances were dramatic , over the top , very passionate and intense... Soap- Opera like .
These two narrators delivered their lines with conviction and gusto. Rebecca Gibel did great when she voiced her female character. She had the right tone , cheerful and supportive just like the character is described but her male voices were pretty bad.
In conclusion , I was entertained.

HFS , Adore is on my top 5 list of steamiest, sexually explicit, deliciously smutty, one hand reading, hot AF story, I read this year . Also on that list is Worship, book 1 of this passionate and intense duet.
Luke and Vance are likeable, sweet , gorgeous and perfect imperfect characters. Their undeniable chemistry , scorching passion , love and need for each other made them a memorable and unforgettable power couple.
Boy, oh boy this story gave me ALL THE FEELS, I cried, got mad, laughed , got hot and bothered and everything in between . One thing is certain, I had an awesome time reading On My Knees Duet , my first by Ella James.
I understand , this is Ms. James first time writing MM Romance and in my opinion, she did brilliantly. Hopefully soon , we will be able to enjoy this duet in audiobook format.

No matter how much I loved preacher Vance and artist Luke in the first book, I could hardly tolerate the continuation of their relationship in the second book. Not very convincing. Not very enjoyable.
On the other hand, the sex scenes were hot.

Holy cannoli, this freaking book.
In the depths of my soul, all I could feel were the waves of emotions this book brought out from me.
The pain, the passion, the pride.
I am a simple woman who seeks nothing more than to feel something. And this book, this book made me feel.
Perhaps the plot execution was a bit off. And maybe the pacing near the end needed some improvement.
But how can I give this book anything less than five stars when it made me FEEL.
I can't.
I simply cannot.
If I were a better book reviewer, this book would be a 3.75/5.
But I never claimed that my reviews were anything more than foolish thoughts brought on by fictional characters.
So five stars.
That's my review.
Being cold-hearted is overrated anyway.

2 Annoyed Stars ⭐️
Had I reviewed this the day I finished, I would have ranted but it’s about a week later and I just can’t be fucked. This author’s book Wrath is one of my all time favorites and when I reread it in audiobook form last month, I remembered how I always wanted to read this series because Vance and Luke have cameos and I wanted their backstory. Unfortunately, this series has been sex, sex, more sex, heavy topics solved with sex, more sex, kinky sex and as much as I love my smut because I so do, it takes away from what could have been a really emotional story. There have been really heartbreaking moments in this book but instead of talking, it’s sex, sex, sex and by the end I was just rolling my eyes. Wrath also has a lot of sex scenes but because that couple was 18-19 years old, it made sense and it didn’t detract from the main storyline. (Saying that, I actually preferred the book because the sex scenes felt too repetitive and made the audiobook feel longer than it’s 20 hours even though I loved how Iggy Toma & Tim Paige brought it to life.) In this book however Vance is 28?, Luke is 38? And unless Luke was on Viagra 24/7, his nonexistent refractory period made no sense. I know men can have dry orgasms if they have a lot in a short period of time but these two didn’t seem to have a problem with any of that either.
*Note: I looked this up and in rare cases men can be ready to go again in 10 seconds. WHAT 😳 The average 18 year old in 15 minutes whereas the average 70 year old is 20 hours. The average for most men is 30 minutes. As for orgasms, the record number is 16 but the average is 3-9 times a day. Women on the other hand have little to no refractory period and the record is 138 orgasms a day. Yikes! That sounds painful.
Moving on…
This series used to be a duet but right before Wrath was released, the 3rd book Communion came out and wraps up Luke & Vance’s relationship while introducing the reader to Ezra from Wrath. He’ll actually be introduced as “Miller” and if you read Wrath you’ll understand why. Anyway, the ending to this book was super rushed, I hated it and if I had read this duet when it came out, I would have been pissed but I have no desire to read Communion to finish the series. This rushed hack job of an ending will just have to do for a couple of reasons. The main one is, I just don’t care anymore and having to read another 300 pages of religious BS and sex sex sex sex sounds dreadful but I also don’t want to buy it. Books 1&2 are on KU but 3 isn’t and if it was I would probably skim for Ezra but I have no desire to buy it and it’s shitty that I have to when every book by this author is on KU except this book. I actually found this audiobook, listened to it for an hour and returned it because it was 3 sex scenes back to back to back and I was so bored!! But Iggy Toma and Aiden Snow were so ungodly hot during them. Fuck, Aiden Snow’s voice is just pure sex. Maybe the woman who had 138 orgasms in one day was listening to his voice while she had them. If so, I get it girl.😂🥵
Also, while I’m done with this series, I’d like more of this author and I hope she returns. After Wrath, she had a lot of books on preorder but those were cancelled and she hasn’t released any books since 2021. One of those books was going to be an older man and a young dancer which I was really excited about. As it turns out, that older man was Vance’s dad and it’s ridiculous because even though I just finished this a few weeks ago I don’t remember Vance’s dad at all or much else besides all the sex. 🤦🏻♀️
To sum it up this made me super teary eyed at times but the ridiculous amount of sex scenes ruined what could have been a great storyline. 😕

(Saying that, I actually preferred the book because the sex scenes felt too repetitive and made the audiobook feel longer than it’s 20 hours even though I loved how Iggy Toma & Tim Paige brought it to life.) In this book however Vance is 28?, Luke is 38? And unless Luke was on Viagra 24/7, his nonexistent refractory period made no sense. I know men can have dry orgasms if they have a lot in a short period of time but these two didn’t seem to have a problem with any of that either.
*Note: I looked this up and in rare cases men can be ready to go again in 10 seconds. WHAT 😳 The average 18 year old in 15 minutes whereas the average 70 year old is 20 hours. The average for most men is 30 minutes. As for orgasms, the record number is 16 but the average is 3-9 times a day. Women on the other hand have little to no refractory period and the record is 138 orgasms a day. Yikes! That sounds painful.
Moving on…
This series used to be a duet but right before Wrath was released, the 3rd book Communion came out and wraps up Luke & Vance’s relationship while introducing the reader to Ezra from Wrath. He’ll actually be introduced as “Miller” and if you read Wrath you’ll understand why. Anyway, the ending to this book was super rushed, I hated it and if I had read this duet when it came out, I would have been pissed but I have no desire to read Communion to finish the series. This rushed hack job of an ending will just have to do for a couple of reasons. The main one is, I just don’t care anymore and having to read another 300 pages of religious BS and sex sex sex sex sounds dreadful but I also don’t want to buy it. Books 1&2 are on KU but 3 isn’t and if it was I would probably skim for Ezra but I have no desire to buy it and it’s shitty that I have to when every book by this author is on KU except this book. I actually found this audiobook, listened to it for an hour and returned it because it was 3 sex scenes back to back to back and I was so bored!! But Iggy Toma and Aiden Snow were so ungodly hot during them. Fuck, Aiden Snow’s voice is just pure sex. Maybe the woman who had 138 orgasms in one day was listening to his voice while she had them. If so, I get it girl.😂🥵
Also, while I’m done with this series, I’d like more of this author and I hope she returns. After Wrath, she had a lot of books on preorder but those were cancelled and she hasn’t released any books since 2021. One of those books was going to be an older man and a young dancer which I was really excited about. As it turns out, that older man was Vance’s dad and it’s ridiculous because even though I just finished this a few weeks ago I don’t remember Vance’s dad at all or much else besides all the sex. 🤦🏻♀️
To sum it up this made me super teary eyed at times but the ridiculous amount of sex scenes ruined what could have been a great storyline. 😕

This is unhinged. I'm aware, but I've written it all and it's not wrong, so I'm going with it 🥳 There are also bits of spoilers, but whatever I don't care. You have been warned.
Do you like to read about balls tautening? Yes? CONGRATULATIONS! This series is for you 🤣 Seriously, I'm not sure I've read the phrase "my balls tautened" before this book, but boy does the phrase get used A LOT in this series. It's not that there's really anything wrong with it, but it sure does sound weird in the middle of a spicy scene 🙃 Toward the end, I wanted to scream, "Nooooo not the balls tautening again!" It just makes me think of a dude jumping in ice water or something idk this series made my brain melt a little. I'm so glad I'm done. Maybe I can shove my brain in the freezer and hope what melted reconstitutes.

I don't believe there are two hornier characters than Luke and Vance. They literally could not stop doing it. They did it so much I was sick of it. Like did not care. I'm sure if they could do it while doing it they would have, like inception banging. Banging while banging while banging. It was that bad. At one point, I think it was Vance that made a comment about how he was basically dying because they hadn't done it in 24 hours 🙄
Also, for two people very concerned about how they were going to be perceived by the church congregation they sure couldn't stop banging AT THE CHURCH. Seriously? Banging at the church is a choice to begin with, but is it one you want to make over and over again at risk of getting caught if you're the pastor and want everyone to accept that you're gay? If they didn't care, fine whatever, but the entire point of this last book was working toward acceptance, so I'm not really sure the rationale there 😂 Even if most of the people were good with the pastor being gay, I'm not sure they wanted to find him balls deep in the stairwell. I'm pretty sure that would go for him being gay, straight, or otherwise. It didn't even feel risqué. It was too dumb for that.
While there was already a bunch of drama going on, a baby was added to the mix 🙃 Now, I'm all for them adopting if they want, but the way it was done was a bit weird and off-putting. They take in a baby surrendered at the church drop off, which is lovely in itself. The thing that I hated about it was how they talked about her like an object. No exact quotes, but things along the lines of "It's no big deal if this doesn't work out and the mother takes her back, we can get another baby whenever, no biggie" were said multiple times 😬
In one more what the hell moment, Vance's never before present father shows up to announce he's gay and that he now wants a relationship with Vance. Ok whatever who cares at this point 🥴 The kicker is that Vance hated the guy and within the span of nearly no time is basically like, "He's not so bad, all is well."
There was more I wanted to say, but I can't give any more brain power to this. I've reached a point of catharsis after getting this all out, and now I can move on 😌 I've got to say, it's bit sad though because I think there were some really good points that got lost in the midst of all the madness. I think a good edit could have made this into one excellent book that contained the message I think the author was trying to portray about acceptance and the church.

It's hard to imagine topping Worship, but Ella James did it! ADORE is so satisfying--I don't want to give anything away, but prepare for your heart for a rollercoaster of emotions. I was mad, I was heartbroken, I was elated, I was terrified.
I love the setting of this story and the very real and relate-able emotions of both Luke and Vance. James doesn't shy away from reality or the fears that come from being in relationships considered taboo by society, and it hurts so good to see this couple fight the tide of life and their own pasts. Gorgeous writing, too!

"Adore" is the second book in this duet and it concludes the story of Luke and Vance.
Here, there's a lot more contact between the characters, they see each other every day and they live as a couple for a few months. Everything is done in secrecy though and there's no way around it.
The back and forth of Luke's decisions continues and his uncertainty about how he should act with Vance is still present. Vance is more patient with this that I hoped anyone to be. He knows what he wants, he knows that he's hooked in Luke and so he does everything he can to give Luke the time he needs, the discretion he wants and to get as much out of the relationship as he can for as long as Luke will keep their arrangement going. He knows the score and is trying to make the best of it.
I liked the majority of the book and I liked the ending but I didn't appreciate the two events that took place near it. There was a lot of drama, blood and hospitals thrown in and I didn't like it.
As a whole, the story was interesting and different. I liked the characters (Vance more that Luke though) and I liked the way this author writes. I'd have prefered a more low-key ending, though considering what Luke did for a living maybe less drama wouldn't have worked, and I think it could have been a single book. Other than those two little things, I liked everything else. Even Luke's mood and behavioral swings grew on me and I came to expect them so I could see how Vance would handle them.

Acceptance is such an important factor. A mother’s love knows no bounds. We don’t get a lot of Luke’s mom but I feel like what we get is just right.
“I wanted to fucking fix you.”
“You did fix me. Every time I opened my eyes…you were all I wanted.”
I enjoyed this book more than book one, it’s longer and we get more relationship development and character growth.
“I love you so much, Vance Rayne. You’re my happy ending, baby. Not the pervert kind. That, too.”

Vance and Luke
Their relationship and this whole journey were complicated, very. Luke is in a position where he never can show who he really is.
Vance is aware of this and will never jeopardize Luke’s life. Luke will be his, even it is for just a short time.
In this time their connection gets stronger and indelible. It will never be the same.
There is a lot of heavy sexual activities, all hot af, for me it felt more than only scorching actions, it felt very emotional, it had a purpose, sometimes it was a desperate act. Like it could be the very last time.
There was a thin line between punishment and love.
The push and pull were devastating. The unknown was hurtful.
Their connection is strong even it’s all on thin ice.
My whole body was wrecked, this only by reading about them because the exhaustion was so palpable, I just felt bad for them.
There are revelations with deep impact.
The confession spoken between the two walls shattered my heart completely.
For me this was such a devastating moment, I cried out loud.
Choices made for reasons that looked necessary but awful.
At some point, it felt as the light went out. It was a heavy feeling. As if they were in a free fall and couldn’t find their way back on track.
Some devastating events gave them a boost in the right direction and cleared the air a bit.
Emerson Vance Rayne and Luke Gabriel McDowell two of the most passionate human beings I read about. I loved them hard. I couldn’t hold my tears for them. It was so hard at times.
Love can be beautiful and devastating.
An excellent story, strongly written, well developed, captivating with an impressive, intriguing and with tremendously original content. One minus... Sometimes I had to read back to understand who said what.

I think I might have loved this second part even more. It was probably all the angst. Good lord. This one was a bit of an emotional woozy. I fell in love with these two even more. They became one of those couples I'll forever love and would read 100 books on.

I loved this one, the angst, the romance, the feels, it was simply epic. Luke and Vance's story is definitely one for the ages, once they fell in love and committed to each other, they were all in. And the sexy times were hot AF. So so good!

I wasn't too sure how to rate this duet. This was my first official MM read so I have nothing to compare it too. The sex scenes felt very unnatural to me though. There were wayyy too many of them. Doesn't seem possible but it was overkill in this series. The stamina these 2 men had was unrealistic. I'm not a man but I can't imagine the way it was written in this story was realistic. It felt porn-like and took away from it feeling passionate. I wish the storyline focused more on the plot. The forbidden aspect of this being about a preacher in love with the artist was intriguing and I wanted more of that

This is the second and last book of the On My Knees duet. Here, we have the conclusion of the relationship between Vance the artist and Luke the closeted Pastor.
The beginning of the story had me a bit confused as far as the power dynamic. When we left off in book 1, Vance was cocky, saying he wasn't going to leave, tough luck, Luke! and I really liked that. Then, the beginning of this one, Luke is the arrogant one, telling Vance he's going to make his stay here miserable! WTH? After a chapter or two, we're back to Luke being needy and Vance holding the power. *shaking my head*.
This book is up and down and a bit of angst and a WHOLE LOT OF SEX! ok. I love sex as much as the next guy. But, come on! These aren't 15 year olds! They can't go from hand jobs to full on sex to sex-in-the-shower-while-we-get-clean to stepping out of the shower, drying off and *omg you are so hot let me drop to my knees and suck you* really??? I am BLOWN AWAY! I am in love with this story! This is a truly beautiful love story! A love so big and soul consuming it couldn’t be contained. An unstoppable love that deserved to be expressed openly. An unforgettable path to forever! I am in awe of the author and her ability to make me fall in love with this couple over and over.

This book started out with the 2 MC like they had adopted completely different personalities from book 1. On one hand it was hot, on the other, it became very confusing. Also, it was really hard to decipher which POV we were in as both men have similar voices and the author doesn’t name or describe them, nor do they make it clear who is speaking. I found myself frequently re-reading multiple pages and trying to figure out who was saying what.
And this one is way angstier than Book 1. Luke’s being crushed by the weight of his responsibility and his love for Vance. But, as is his 180 degree character change from book 1, he brings Vance into his life and into his church, and their relationship both flourishes and burns.
In the end there’s love, of course. But there was an excess of drama. Two massive incidents, where one was probably enough. The ending was nice, although the actual ramifications of the two men being together is never really dealt with.
ETA:Oh, and as per book 1...why so many blowjobs? This shall forever be known to me as the blowjob duet. Blowjobs, blowjobs, everywhere!!! And one last thing. I’m not quite sure how having a butt plug in for 24 hours is ok if you just don’t eat from the time it’s inserted. Pretty sure stuff is already in transit. And where the hell do you get a plug with dye on the inside so it can’t be removed without leaving a whole mess of evidence. It’s hard enough getting dye from cake frosting off your fingers, let alone...you know.

This was still a bit too heavy on the sex for me and a bit schizophrenic as to the MCs personalities, with a bit of crazy thrown in at the end. There were one or two sweet scenes where I could really get behind this couple and some good secondary characters, but overall it was more of the same of what I didn't enjoy in the first book.
Looks like this duet now also has a third book, but I'll be skipping that.

"SPOILERS" throughout...
In this follow-up to WORSHIP, we have ADORE, by Ella James. I am in the minority in these two stories.
I was not captivated.
Luke is still the high focus preacher, traveling the world, dating women, denying his own happiness. Vance is leading a tortured existence deep down, but we aren't certain of his current life. His artistic career is booming. He begins the mural for Luke's church, plus he's sculpting. Luke shows up pretending they've never met, knowing he's being hurtful. Vance's work is lovely, but it's a hard go because Luke keeps coming and going, traveling, rejecting.
Yes, we do get their sexy, kinky hotness, and we see their inner thoughts. They are very sizzling in their overwhelming sex scenes.
IMO, Luke may never have come out if it weren't for his illness, and the public finding out.
