Since this was my first book by this author, I went in with mild expectations and was delighted by not only an interesting story, but how much I found myself drawn to and enjoying each of the characters that become a part of Dr. Nolan's team.

This book follows Dr. Nolan, a small-town doctor, as he treats a Jane Doe patient who winds up dead the next day. With a curious head and an emotional heart, Dr. Nolan digs deeper into who the woman was, who she was connected to, and learns that this goes deeper and is much bigger than he ever thought. Luckily, Dr. Nolan has a wide variety of friends and colleagues who happily join him

Each character has their own set of skills that comes into play as they are called upon and, for what it's worth, while it was clear that they are recurring characters, I never felt as though I was missing anything by not reading the past books.

While some other book series may require you to have read the books prior, the author did a great job of introducing characters and inside jokes with quick details on past adventures. In addition to giving you context of the characters, it also provided a level of depth, understanding of their motivations, and created an automatic real friendship ties for each of the characters.

Also, I find it important to note that this book includes an entire discussion around the human trafficking for sexual purposes. With that in mind, I’d like to point out that I like that it provides a brief yet comprehensive understanding of human trafficking that focuses on the real enemy of those taking advantage of people seeking a better life and exploiting them for financial gains. I appreciate E.W. Johnson, M.D., for humanizing the victims instead of villanizing them.

Favorite Quotes:
“‘Being bored is better than being dead, at least in the short term,’ he noted.”

“As each building block of solving a mystery was set in place, the more driven and anxious he became to build higher, faster. The quickening of it, the electric thrill that charged through him was almost a consuming force. As much as he had learned to embrace it, he also recognized the need to keep it in check, to not let it seize control. The sheer weight of it could be a positive weapon, or a tool of destruction. Often it was a very fine distinction.”

Corrigendum” by E.W. Johnson M.D. is another Dr. Sean Nolan novel. For those unfamiliar, Dr. Nolan is a small-town doctor in Washington State. He is a widower raising two teen daughters and is not afraid to step up and do the right thing when he sees the need to. There is a usual cast of characters, mostly family and friends who are usually ready and willing to help out on the latest Doc Nolan adventure. The story begins with a young woman, an Asian teen who arrives at the Doc’s office with the symptoms and bruises of someone who is being sex trafficked. After her appointment, she jets out of the office and disappears in her car. The local Coroner contacts Dr. Nolan the following day because the young woman had his business card with her. This young woman's death is not something the Doc can accept without learning more. The license tag of the young woman’s car is the sole clue that begins this adventure. Doc Nolan has told himself that all he will do is build a case that he can turn over to the authorities, but all readers who already know the Doc realize there is little chance of that happening. Dr. Sean Nolan just isn’t built that way.

This is my third Doc Nolan book, and they seem to be getting better and better. Doc Johnson, our author, has created characters I enjoy spending time with. As much as I enjoy seeing how the story ends, I find it bittersweet because I know how much I will miss the gang until the next adventure. This book is well worth your time. Enjoy!

Corrigendum: A Dr. Sean Nolan Mystery by E W Johnson M D is the latest in a series of books that I have picked up to read. Corrigendum follows Dr. Sean Nolan as he attempts to deal with a mystery arising from the death of a teenage girl who has signs of severe abuse. This naturally unravels into a complicated web of human trafficking that has its claws dug deep even into the highest position of society. Dr. Nolan and his friends seem to be up against hopeless odds.
Now I know what you may be thinking. This is part of a series! Why would I read this one before picking up the others? While I certainly suggest always reading a series you think you may enjoy, and not only because it supports the author but to get a good feel for the adventures of the characters. However, with Corrigendum by E W Johnson M D you can simply dive in with this book if for some reason you do not desire picking up the previous ones. Johnson gives you plenty of information on Dr. Nolan’s previous adventures and his relationships with his friends and family that you do not have to break the bank on the entire serious, though I would suggest you do.
I suggest Corrigendum to anyone who enjoys a thrilling mystery story!

Corrigendum gripped my attention from the beginning. The characters were likeable. I wanted them to succeed. While the book had some suspenseful parts, it wasn't to the extreme. I didn't need to put the book down for a break because I my heart was pounding too hard or because I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
This book was a quick read. Most of the chapters were short which made it readable even when I was short on time. It can easily be read in one or two evenings.
The writer used a lot of details to make the plot believable. The author's passion for correcting injustices shines through in his writing. While this is a mystery novel, it makes the reader want to get involved righting the wrongs in society, although not to the extreme of the main character, Dr. Sean Nolan!
This is a great book to read during a vacation. I highly recommend it for anyone with a social conscious or for just an interesting read.

While the initial half of the book is rather slow, the story picks up pace in the later parts. This is also compounded by the shorter length of the later chapters, which I feel unnecessarily increases the chapter count.

The end is somewhat predictable as far as most stories go and also most characters evolve over a familiar arc. However, the plot is fairly believable and doesn't come out as a fantasy. In the first half of the book, the author takes time to explain the routine happenings and situations in the lives of each of the characters. Most of the thrilling action happens in the second half and also that is where the narrative is escalated multiple times to another level.

I liked the vivid description of body language used in the story, which helps to visualize what each character must be going through apart from the dialogue. A bit more background about the other characters apart from the protagonist would have been better.

This is my first Dr. Sean Nolan mystery and I really enjoyed it! Fast-paced, quietly funny, topical, and exciting--a book I so deeply enjoyed engaging with. It reminded me a lot of Geoffery M. Cooper's medical mystery books. It also felt reminiscent of the show Rizzoli & Isles (conveniently also based on a book series!).

Though I had not read any of the previous books, it was not hard to jump in and get the feel for the characters. Relatable, with clear dialogue I thought this book was a solid read and I was delighted to find how honest and humble the characters were. It was also a nice touch to throw COVID into the plot--it helped immediately engage me into the world and added a personal layer to the whole story.

I enjoyed this read and cannot wait to dive into more Dr. Sean Nolan mysteries!

"Unanswered Questions" is a gripping and reflective read that offers a deeper probe at the events that followed the September Eleven attacks on American soil. The text analyses some of the questions that the families of the victims raised but were ignored by the 9/11 Commission. The book further looks at some of the inconsistencies in the report that was presented to the public.
This revealing book sheds light on the disappointment and frustrations of the families while aiming at finding closure and preventing a repeat of the same. The result is a startlingly comprehensible, heartrending, and revelatory embroidery that is bound to stir your heart.
Only when these questions are addressed would it be possible to save further generations from any likely form of terrorism. I appreciate the author's courage in writing this text. Truly a must-read.

Enjoyable Mystery

A girls comes in a doctor's office and the next day is found dead.
The journey that this mystery takes you on makes you question would I be that dedicated if I was in his position? My answer no.
What I like about this story is that it guides you on the journey to dismantle an underground illegal operation. So it's more suspense than mystery. But you'll be invested to the end.
What I don't like is when reading it seams like this is a book from a series and since haven't read the other books I feel like I've been dropped into an established story. Like I missed out on something. So it took me out of the story at some parts.
But over all I recommend this book to people who like domestic suspense stories and not so much mysteries because the emphasis was not on the who done it but more so on the illegal operation and catching the bad guys.

This was a compulsive read, once I started, I couldn’t stop. I was gripped from the very beginning when Lien turned up, like Dr Nolan I was intrigued and wanted to know more about her story.

This was not the first book in the Dr Nolan however it can be read as a standalone. Reading this one did make me want to go back and read the others. They have now been added to my summer reading list.

The dialogue in his novel really brought the characters to life, it is a testament to how well developed the characters are, I felt like I was stepping off the page and investigating the case with them.

If you are looking for some intrigue, I would defiantly recommend this book!

This is the second Dr Sean Nolan book I've read and it didn't disappoint! It's a faced paced read and you get into the exciting parts right away. I hate a long slow build up those this was great! All of the characters are well written and interesting in their own right and I was very happy to see many repeat characters. The interactions between Sean and Elena are a bit cheesy, but they have a great relationship so I'll let it pass. Just like the last book I read, I like how the author didn't pretend current events (covid) doesnt exist. It's not the main focus of the story but it feels true to how we've been living the last 2 years. It's kind of interesting to see how it effects the storyline in small ways. I'll continue to read this series. They are fairly quick reads and hold your attention well. Perfect for when you just need a little adventure in your life.

Corrigendum by E.W. Johnson, M.D., is one of those novels that has the right amount of suspense without overdoing it. E.W. Johnson does a fantastic job at making sure the plot of the story is not only entertaining, but truly intriguing to read. The main protagonist of the story is a doctor at a clinic in his small town. He is everything a main character should be without being too perfect. Not to mention, the side characters also made the novel more enjoyable. This novel will have readers not only sitting on the edge waiting for the next shoe to drop, but it would have them laughing at the right comedic moments in the novel as well. This novel deserves a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Corrigendum: A Dr. Sean Nolan Mystery was a lot of fun to read. I didn’t realize it wasn’t the first book, but it didn’t matter at all. Dr.Nolan is one of several great characters, and it’s really hard to put down once you get started. I wanted to purchase a good mystery, and that’s exactly what I got. None of the parts were boring, and it kept me guessing. The addition of Covid gives it a modern feel. I can see myself binging the rest of the books. I highly recommend it.
