A brand new Fake Fiance romance from S.A. Clayton set in her new Harbour Cove series!
All Lucas Collins wanted was a simple life. One where he could fix motorcycles, hang out with his friends and if he's lucky, have the love of a good woman. But his parents are hell-bent on making sure none of that happens.
Having a trust fund was supposed to mean freedom, money to get himself out of his parent's shadow and into the life he always wanted, but that money came with stipulations, ones he wanted nothing to do with until he met Billie Peters.
Billie always thought she had her life planned out. Successful photography business that she built from the ground out and a boyfriend whom she wanted to spend the rest of her life. That is until she came home to the news that he got another girl pregnant.
With nowhere to go, Billie and Lucas come up with a plan. Lucas needs to fool his parents into thinking he's engaged in order to get his money, Billie needs a place to crash until she can find somewhere else to live. Win-win right?
That is until feelings start to get involved and the lines between fake and reality begin to blur.
S.A. Clayton lives in a small town outside of Toronto, Canada with her husband and her scary large collection of books that seem to take over every room. She has worked on both sides of the publishing industry, both in a bookstore and for actual publishing companies. Although she loved both for different reasons, she found that writing was her true passion and has spent the last few years breaking into the industry as best she can. She is a lover of all things romance and began her writing journey in her late twenties. Since then, she has immersed herself in the romance genre and couldn't be happier. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys binging a great Netflix show (Stranger Things anyone?), baking (because who doesn't love cookies!), and spending time with her family.
I waited until about a week and a half ago to sit down and just get lost in the Harbour Cove series by SA Clayton and I have to say, it was a pretty glorious binge-read experience! I knew from experience, since I’ve read all her words, that the individual stories would be just long enough for me to go from one to the other in a mere couple of days. I love being able to do that, especially if there’s even a small connection from one book to the next.
Hoping for Her (book 1): Drew & Katie packed a punch to the #feels and at the same time was endearing and heartwarming. 4 stars
Falling for Her (book2): Cash & Hannah also packed a punch for me, and I found their story inspiring and full of hope. A wonderful second chance to get it right journey full of emotion and friendship and love! 5 stars
Waiting for Her (book 3): Okay, I only thought I was enjoying this series because Max & Addison’s journey was so good that I thought my heart would burst from it all! They are definitely the couple to beat LOL There is nothing not to love about this story, from the friendship growth to the romance growth to every single circumstance! 5 stars
Staying for Her (book 4): A fake engagement and living together … bwahahahahaha! Obviously, I’ve read this trope a gazillion times, as you can see from my laughter, but every author has their own voice & style and Clayton put her own spin to it. Not gonna lie, I found a lot of the dramatics a bit over the top and they just kept pilling. When stories are this short, they can easily go off the arils fast and in my opinion, this story would have achieved the same result, a HEA, with so much drama. That’s my 2 cents lol 3 stars
Perfect for Her (book 5): Once again, heartwarming, and emotional, Mark & Harlow’s story touched my heart! I wasn’t a fan of the secondary characters behaviors from time to time, but not enough to make me #twitchy LOL Mark’s character surprised me the most (in a good way lol) because I’ve known him from previous books, and I just didn’t expect what I got but I’m also happy I got it! Confused lol? Read the series and you won’t be! 4 stars
I decided to just review all four stories in one review because there’s honestly not too much detail that can be given about the individual stories without giving away the plot and I wanted to showcase the series more than the individual books because this is a series I believe you should invest from the first book to the last. Technically, it could be said these are standalone stories, but I’m not going to say that. *shrug* That’s it folks. Go forth and binge :)
A great addition to this series of short stories?!
I've read all the stories in this series and this was a great addition to it. Who doesn't love a story about strangers helping each other with their problems, but ending up receiving so much more out of it.
S. A. Clayton is seriously improving her writing with each story I read. She is finding her "voice" and I'm here for it!
When Billie finds out that her boyfriend and their relationship wasn’t what she thought it was she gets assistance from the most unlikely source, her sexy neighbor who she has never met before. He offers her a place to stay and asks her to pretend to be his fiancé what could possibly go wrong?
Lucas comes from an affluent lifestyle but his failure to lead the life his parents want him to have has put his trust fund and his dream of opening his own motorcycle shop in jeopardy. Pretending to be engaged to Billie isn’t a hardship and seems like the perfect solution to both their problems.
The chemistry between them was undeniable but when a misunderstanding occurs Lucas will soon realize what and who he needs to be happy.
Lucas and Billie were amazing together and I understood more of what he went though. Wow his parents were really bad and I am so glad they both stood up to them. The story moves quickly but gives us so much that I found myself unable to stop. It's sweet, somewhat emotional at times, and sexy.
This is the fourth book in the series. They can be read as standalone books. They are better read in order. This book is a fake relationship book. Lucas’s family has been trying to control him his entire life. They use his inheritance to do it. First, he must go to college, then he must get married, so on and so forth. Its never ending. Billie finds herself in trouble. She discovers her boyfriend cheating on her. Now she has no where to go. Lucas has recently moved in across the hall. He rescues her and asks her to help him out with his problem. Then they both start to get feelings for the other. Can they make his family believe they are really getting married? Will they find a real relationship with each other? This book is a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Lucas considers his friends more his family than his actual family. This is an instalove book for sure. Lucas’s friends are shocked at first to hear he has a fiancé because he has always said he would be a bachelor for life. I really enjoyed this book. I felt for Lucas and they way his family tries to manipulate him. I felt for Billie as well. Her father isn’t much better than Lucas’s family and then there is what her boyfriend was doing. I love this series. Each of the books is a quick read. The characters are amazing. I can’t wait to read the next and final book in the series. Wonderful job S.A. Clayton.
I wavered between giving this 3* or 4*. It’s well written with no typos or grammatical issues. I wasn’t crazy about the actual story or plot. It starts with the h finding her bf of 2 yrs having sex with his very pregnant mistress in their bed. The h storms out and injures herself in the hall so the guy across the hall that she’s never met apparently instantly falls for her and she moves in with him. Then the story morphs into a whole new direction involving the new lover trying to meet the stipulations from his terrible family to get his trust fund. There’s not a whole lot more to the plot. There were several long sexy scenes that I skimmed past as they took up too much space away from the actual story. I don’t mind sexy scenes as long as they are balanced with the rest of the book. The main characters were very likable and they had great friends, but the families of both were inexplicably terrible people and terrible to the MCs. Solid 3.5* but I don’t feel the need to read any more in this series. It’s great if you’re into instalove or looking for a short read.
Ok so can we start of by saying how much I dislike both sets of parents in this book because I mean come on really crap parents these two had. Ok I got that out of the way. Wow poor Billie what a way to find out her boyfriend is not happy I mean that was horrible. Yet in a happy note she does meet Lucas and I mean hello that in itself is worth a little grief. I really enjoyed these two story. It was cute and fun. It all starts as a way to get around the many stipulations his parents have for him to get his inheritance but yet Lucas gets so much more out of his and Billies arrangement. I loved that at the end Lucas’s grandma sticks it to his parents in a good way and he gets his happy ending he deserves. Truly enjoyed this sweet cute story and cannot wait for Mark’s story it is going to be fun to read I’m sure.
Staying for Her is the fourth book in the Harbour Cove series. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone, but I think reading this series in order is best. The books are short, and I loved seeing each of the friends find their happy ever after. This was Lucas and Billie’s story, and it was sweet and fun. Lucas wanted his trust fund so he could open his own motorcycle shop, but his mother kept adding stipulations to it. The current stipulation is he must marry, and Billie is the perfect woman to help him. She is the exact opposite of a woman his family would choose. Billie needs a place to stay after she catches her boyfriend with a pregnant woman. Lucas’s idea would help them both out. The lines between real and fake fade as feelings enter into their agreement. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What can I say about these short stories that I haven't already said! This one with Billie & Lucas takes the cake! I loved this couple so much! Don't miss out on this great series, they can be read as a stand alone, but why miss out on all the fun and love! 5 amazing stars for this one!
This piece of the series was a bit different. They did not know each other. Their first meeting was anything but a meet-cute. It’s quick. But it’s love more than lust. For both. Maybe they don’t see it as soon as the reader does.
Billie is a wedding photographer when she gets home early and finds her boyfriend cheating on her with another woman who's pregnant. After yelling and leaving the apartment she is out in the hallway crying when her neighbor comes out. When Lucas comes out and sees her crying in the hallway and she tells him what happened he brought her into his apartment. After introductions and everything explained further. Lucas tells her to take his room and stay as long as she needs. Lucas on the phone with his mother when she threatens him and demands he needs to get married, Lucas comes up with a win-win situation. Since Billie needs a place to stay and he needs a fake fiancé to get his mom off his back, so he can get the inheritance he is due. Because he does what he wants and doesn't follow his mother's rules, she keeps coming up with stipulations so he can't get the money. After taking Billie to his parent's home, he introduces her to his parents and all they did was grill her. Lucas had enough and left with Billie. Later his mother called and proceeds to put yet another stipulation on his inheritance. While they were visiting friends, he got the call and ended up getting drunk. After getting home, her ex-boyfriend across the hall saw this and helped Billie get him in the house. After getting him in bed, he started saying he made a mistake with her. After hearing this she packed her stuff and went back to her parents' house, which she was dreading to do but what other choice did she have. Lucas woke up with a throbbing headache and was looking for Billie who was not there, nothing of hers was there. Lucas was leaving when he ran into her ex who told him where she was. Lucas went to her home to explain and why he said what he did. He explained she made him happy not the money, so would she please come home. Returning to their home, Lucas got a call from his Lawyer asking him to come in. Once arriving he found out that his grandmother who passed years prior left a sealed letter for him, that she left him money for him with no stipulations like his mother always said. Since he was happy with Billie the money was an added bonus. Now he was able to pursue his dream of being a mechanic and helped Billie launch her photographer business. No longer just Weddings she does everything.

S.A. Clayton's Harbour Cove series is sweet, sexy, and heartfelt. STAYING FOR HER is the story of Lucas Collins and Billie, two people who have had their hearts bruised by the people who are meant to love them most. Families are never what you expect them to be.
"I knew this man would be dangerous. I knew he would be the type of guy I would fall for if given the chance ... "
Photographer Billie was shocked when she returned home early to find her boyfriend with another woman. An argument follows and Billie finds herself sitting in the hall outside their apartment sobbing. Lucas is a man who has his own problem, a constant battle with his parents over an inheritance he was entitled to. He hears a noise in the hallway and upon seeing the state Billie is in, he invites her to stay in his apartment for the night. Another phone conversation with his mother sees Lucas producing a plan that would be beneficial to both himself and Billie.
"I've never believed in love at first sight, but right now, this pressure in my chest is certainly making me think it's possible."
Lucas and Billie met each other at the right time. A fake relationship may solve their current dilemmas, but what happens if fake becomes real? I loved Lucas and Billie together, they were the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy, and I adored the way they were there to support and encourage one another. Lucas did need to do one thing though, learn how to think before he spoke - especially when he was drunk.
STAYING FOR HER was a wonderful short read that had me hooked from beginning to end. Up next is Mark's story, Perfect For Her, and I've been dying to read that one.
Wow. Lucas’s family is even worse than you could imagine. I’ve wondered what they’re like, and I only wish they’d had a nastier comeuppance than they did in the end. But that’s okay. Because they’re awful and miserable and Lucas has a bright future ahead with Billie.
These two meet at one of the worst times Billie’s gone through in a while. And Lucas can’t help wanting to be her savior. If they have to pretend that they’re in this together only to benefit him, so be it. But when it proves to be so very real, the real worry is whether or not their relationship can survive his mother’s latest stunt. Some things aren’t easy to undo, and hearts can be broken with careless or out-of-context words.
Luckily, Lucas and Billie work it all out. Communication is key, and they definitely value the art of it. So now we only have Mark to worry about. And based on the epilogue, it sounds like his carefree ways are so very old and tired. And maybe his past can become his future? I sure can’t wait to find out.
Lucas Collins wanted to open a motorcycle repair shop, his dream goal. But his parents were determined to keep him from his goals. They make sure he can’t get his hands on his trust fund by manipulating the terms every time he gets close to it.
Billie Peters also had dreams of continuing her successful photography business and marrying her boyfriend to share their wonderful life together. But coming home early, she interrupted him in bed with his pregnant “other woman”. Luckily her neighbor, Lucas, offers her an overnight stay at his place while she decides how to proceed. Billie and Lucas talk about their problems and come up with a simple plan. Pretending they are engaged so he can get his trust fund money will get his parents off his case. And Billie will have a place to stay as long as she needs to. This works for both of them! But what happens when the fake situation starts to feel real? Are they ready to try a real relationship and see where it takes them?
Every book that I read by SA Clayton is better than the previous one! I couldn’t get enough of this book and its couple, Lucas and Billie. Lucas comes from money but his family is holding it unless he gets married. Billie finds her boyfriend cheating on her and her new neighbor Lucas gives her a place to stay. They agree to a fake engagement to help each other out but feelings inevitably grow.
These characters were fantastic! I loved Billie and Lucas from the start and enjoyed every moment of their story. His family will astound you in their viciousness. His friends are the total opposite in the way they welcome with open arms. There is a little drama between Lucas and Billie but just enough to add a good layer to the story and nothing to ruin the reader’s opinion of either of them. I loved how this story came together and it’s ending was even better than I had hoped for! This book is a definite must read, as is the rest of this series!!

Lucas was raised with a silver spoon, but never felt loved by anyone in his family except his grandmother. He met his best friend at summer camp when he was younger, found a circle of friends that accepted him fully. He is dreams of opening a motorcycle repair shop but his parents seem to be determined to make his life miserable. The keep are changing terms of him being about to get his trust fund.
Billie is a professional photographer and thought she and boyfriend would eventually move on to the next step. When she comes home earlier than expected, she finds him in bed with a very pregnant woman, who is carrying his baby.
When her neighbor opens his door, he invites her in. She needs a place to stay and he needs a fake fiancé to get his inheritance, the come an agreement to help each other. Add in a lot of chemistry and close quarters, what can possibly go wrong?.

When Billie catches her boyfriend cheating with a very pregnant girl she leaves their apartment and collapses in the hallway where she if found by her neighbor Lucas wrapped only in a towel. He takes her in his apartment since she has no where to go and he needs a fake girlfriend to his Sunday dinner with his very rich controlling family who keeps denying his inheritance only for them to fall for each other and finding that his grandmother left him a sizable inheritance because she knew what his family was capable of.

This is the fourth book in this intriguing series, and this is Lucas and Billie’s story. These two are neighbours, and when Billie comes home to a surprise, she needs somewhere else to stay. Lucas needs a fake fiancé to fool his parents, so he can get his trust fund. These two bring out the best in each other, but what happens when fake becomes reality? This is a well written story which has emotions, romance, and love, which leads to a charming and steamy page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Give Me Books and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have to say though I couldn't connect with the characters as much as I had with the previous books. Not sure why though!!
Billie and Lucas are neighbours and Billie came home to a HUGE SURPRISE!! Lucas is helping her out a sticky situation, and he has a bright idea for her to help him out of a sticky situation.
I really liked the storyline and what happens, but it was just the disconnect for me with the characters. Overall it was pretty good story!
Were back in Harbour Cove with book 4. I loved the storyline and chemistry between Lucas and Billie. Always refreshing when 2 people will help each other out. I was not a fan of Lucas’s family but it added a lot of drama and intrigue to the book. This is a sweet and steamy romance with wonderful, engaging characters. I was entertained to the very end.

The meeting of Lucas and Billie is definitely an unusual moment that proves you can go from a really low point in life to the best possible high. I liked how each of them brought out the confidence in each other to push themselves beyond their own expectations and see that they don’t need the material these things just each other.

Loved the story and the connection between Lucas and Billie, their chemistry was undeniable! I couldn't put it down, it kept your attention straight til the end. Loved that they got their HEA! I can't wait to read Mark's story! If you are looking for a touching, charming, romantic book, this is definitely your pick! I would highly recommend it!.

A charming story of Lucas and Billie finding each other when the both need it most and deciding to solve each other’s problems not realising that by doing so they’re opening themselves up to the possibility of real love. A sweet, steamy, emotional story with a great HEA. Waiting on the next one.

The story of Lucas and Billie. It starts as a fake relationship to help her out with somewhere to stay and to keep his parents happy. When it leads to more will they stick together or fall apart? I like how it is told from both points of view. Looking froward to the next book in this series.

This is the fourth book of this series. I truly love every one of these characters. Lucas and Billie are two halves of a whole. I fell in love with Harbour Cove from the very first book. Each book focus on a different take a relationship. The ups and downs. The hurt and anger. And everlasting love. It shows us what it's like to really be in love with your other half. I can't wait for Mark's book.
This installment of the series was very much more insta love than the others. It’s portrayed as insta lust. But that’s not what it is. I think Lucas recognizes that first. Both had terrible horrible parents. That they function, is a testament to their individual strength. Together, they’re adorable.
A hideous family are the driving force behind Lucas' need for the fake relationship and a cheating ex and naff Dad are Billie' reasons. This is a mid length book with a good balance of steam and angst.

This is a sweet and steamy fake relationship romance, both Billie and Lucas are wonderful characters, loved how they communicated and interacted with each other. Good Story.

This is the story about Billie and Lucas, told in the dual first person point of view which is always a deal breaker for me. I really enjoyed this story from start to finish.
